"Since you've played with fire, it's time for you to play with water." - line said by Deacon Hyde from Aisling Academy: Battle of Hearts.
Deacon Hyde is an exemplary water user. In order to protect the heir to the throne, he has to be the best and he is the best.
Deacon is able to control any bodies of water - big or small - on his own free will. Even a small puddle of water can be his enemies' downfall.
Contrary to popular belief, even though he has superb control of his power now, when he first learnt about his power, he almost drowned his younger twin siblings. [anything beyond this point is unknown in the main story of aisling academy but might be revealed in the sequel] While entertaining his younger siblings, he also had to keep an eye out for the crown prince as well. He was using his powers to control the waves of the water slightly, teasing his siblings in the lake. When all of a sudden, a branch from the tree right next to the lake started to crack and break. It began to fall right on top of the crown prince.
By instinct, he used the water from the lake to push up against the branch, saving the crown prince in the neck of time. This in turn caused the current of the waves in the lake to push down onto his siblings. As they were still young and feeble, they did not have the strength to fight back, causing them to almost drown if it weren't for the crown prince who interjected and yelled at Deacon.
With the crown prince and his siblings safe and sound, the King and Queen were content with Deacon's behaviour. They were beside themselves that Deacon's first immediate reaction was to save the next heir to the throne and not his own flesh and blood.
Other than that, Deacon is exceptional in hand to hand combat as well as having praisworthy skills wielding a bow. Being raised in a military family also helps a lot.

BACKGROUND
The Hyde family have been serving the Goldscheider family since... well, forever. Any sons born into the Hyde family are immediately trained and groomed to become loyal servants and bodyguards to the next in line to the throne on the Goldscheider side of the family. And Deacon Cohen Fitzgerald Hyde was not excluded. Since he could breathe, he was shaped into being the crown prince's bodyguard.
The House of Hyde became notorious for their ability to protect and guard the House of Goldscheider as well as being a military family, though they weren't at all that well known in the past. It was only when Deacon's great, great, great grandfather joined hands with the then Goldscheider King did the House of Hyde rise in ranks.
It can be said that Deacon Hyde is close to the crown prince, though not much is known because of how tight lipped and quiet he is in public. But behind closed doors, the bodyguard and the crown prince can bicker like best mates, as shown by a handful of scenes in the game.
Deacon met Roséline through the crown prince, protecting the crown prince meant that he had to protect Roséline occasionally. He knew about the pact that the Goldscheiders and the Beaumonts have made. What use would Roséline be if she were dead?
That being said, Deacon has no qualms over harming Roséline if she were in a position to harm the crown prince.
Depending on the choices made by the player, Deacon is able to protect the protagonist with no special care or protect the protagonist to the extent that Deacon forgets about his real duty of protecting the crown prince.

APPEARANCE
With a lot of his training being held outdoors, Deacon grew up to be tan, a stark contrast to the paleness he was born with. Standing at 186cm tall and a weight of 84kg. He has more muscle than fat, courtesy of all the training that he does.
There are three official outfits that the players have seen Deacon wear. The most common is a black shirt paired together with the military signature white jacket with gold-ish yellow trims. He tends to fold his sleeves up until it's three quarters in length, flexing his forearms to the world. His look is finished with the same gold-ish yellow tie and white slacks, a black belt to hold it all together.
Another version of his ensemble is a blue and white jacket with the same gold-ish yellow linings. But instead of buttoning up his shirt, he only buttons the bottom few and leaves it open at the top, his white undershirt showing. He opts not to wear a tie and pairs this with a navy blue slacks.
There have been times when the game depicts Deacon wearing both his attires, minus the jackets during less formal occasion. But those times are rare.

PERSONALITY
Many fans of Aisling Academy and of Deacon describe him as the cold and quiet type or the strong and silent type. And they aren't wrong, all four of those words can be used to describe Deacon. As soon as he could speak, Deacon was taught to hide his feelings and by the age of five, he mastered his poker face well. Through his work and training, he is known to be very meticulous and perceptive.
Little is known about Deacon through the game but there have been slight glimpses of Deacon being sensitive regarding the protagonist that has got everyone's hearts fluttering. He tends to be in the shadows, only coming out when needed, this is one of the things that the devs got criticized about. Even though the players were on Deacon's route, it felt more like the Crown Prince's route.
With how little words Deacon uses, whatever that actually comes out of his mouth is something people remember for a lifetime. And because of this, Deacon can seem very brutal and blunt with his words. But that's only because he thinks honesty is the best policy and there is no such need to sugarcoat these things. What's the point of lying?
One fatal flaw of Deacon is that he thinks too much. Some might call him pensive, but he overthinks. As a pessimist, Deacon prepares for the worst. He sees the cup half empty. This in turn makes him come off as hostile even when he's trying not to be. His handsomeness also does not help with his aloofness.
Deacon is most known for his protective and selfness nature regarding the Crown Prince, something a lot of people commend him for.

TRIVIA
Deacon has been the reigning champion for the Hunting Competition for four years in a row. He is a pretty sharp shooter. Deacon is ambidextrous. He was born a left hander but his parents made him learn how to use his right hand. Deacon has the habit of loosening and tightening his tie as the day goes on. He was born on the eleventh of November. He is extremely adept in hand to hand combat. Someone in the fandom did the impossible and tracked the word Deacon said the most in the game and it was 'Sir', referring to the Crown Prince. The fans had a great laugh. Deacon's most common used nicknames are Deck and Dee-Dee. Deck, being used by majority of his friends - the crown prince included - and Dee-Dee used by his younger siblings, as a result of not being able to properly pronounce his name. Some fans call him a conman because they believe that Deacon's true nature is hidden by his cold and quiet facade. Although he looks really cold, he has a sweet spot for soft and cute things. He achieves good grades in school and can be said that he is in the top 2 percentile. Actually prefers when he is wearing a tie because it gives him a sense of comfort. He has two younger siblings who are twins that have never been properly shown in the game. The only instance of them showing up is via a picture of the three of them when they were kids. As surprising as it is, Deacon is actually a good singer and the game has showcased this only once. Deacon actually has an older brother that no one knows about. It is his father's dirty little secret. Not even his younger siblings know about him.

Deacon has only met the King and Queen in person a couple of times. He respects them and applauds them for being able to not cave under so much pressure being the King and Queen.
He has left a good impression on them since the incident regarding the Crown Prince and his siblings and is contuining to give them things to praise him about with his skills.

Duke Gerald Christopher John Hyde and Duchess Jane Angela Marie Hyde are Deacon's parents. Growing up, his parents were very strict and always made Deacon stick to a regimen.
Jane is the more caring of the two, with Gerald being the more level-minded one. Gerald inherited his great-grandfather's triat of being providential, always knowing when to show his hand and when to keep a pokerface on.
Needless to say, Deacon's quiet manner came from Gerald but his sensitive side comes from his mother. Though at times Jane can be very unpredictive. Despite this, they constantly shower Deacon with praise and compliments as they know how hard Deacon is working.

Jethro William Hyde is the younger brother of Deacon Hyde and the older of the Hyde twins. Deacon and the Hyde twins are three years apart.
Whenever something happens in the Hyde household, you can believe that Jethro always has something to do with is. His adventurous nature is not something to be reckoned with. Since a young age, he has always wanted to follow his older brother out on adventures, but alas, he was never allowed most of the times.
Jethro has earned his nickname of Breeze as he is a Wind user... a bad... Wind user. The most he can do with his power is blow a small breeze in someone's direction. Despite not being up to par with his siblings, he never backs down from a fight.
The one thing that Jethro learnt from his brother is his selflessness. Jethro rarely thinks about himself, wanting to always take care of others. He is the loudest of the Hyde siblings and is always extremely high-spirited. Compared to his younger sister, Jethro is the more forgiving of the two.
Jethro has yet to make a proper appearance in the game.

Daisy Willa Hyde is the younger sister of Deacon Hyde and the youngest of the Hyde twins. Deacon and the Hyde twins are three years apart.
It can be said that Daisy is the more intelligent one of the Hyde twins, to the dismay of their parents. She is a light user, the only light user in the current Hyde generation and it's only because of this that she isn't treated like a second rate daughter.
Being the youngest of the Hyde children, Daisy is shy and softspoken. She hates confrontational situations and would rather hole herself up in her room and read books. Regardless of her shy nature, Daisy is actually capable of holding a grudge or two and is pretty unforgiving to those that betrays her.
Daisy has yet to make a proper appearance in the game.

Before Deacon came Alastair, but not many people know of him. In fact, only a handful of people know of his existence - Deacon included.
Alastair Nolan Hyde is the bastard son of Gerald Hyde and commoner, Claire Miller. His birth was kept a secret and Gerald paid a hefty sum to the midwife to keep it a secret. Let it be known that Gerald Hyde was having an affair with Claire, as he was already married to Jane at the time.
Alastair and Deacon have a two year . Currently, Alastair and Claire live in a cottage far away from everyone else. The last time Alastair has seen his father was on his 12th birthday.
Deacon has actually met Alastair before on a couple of occasions when Gerald brought him to visit Alastair and Claire. But Deacon only has a vague memory of the meetings and chalked it up to imagination as every time he tries to bring it up with his parents, it gets shut down. So he has stopped trying.
Alastair's existence is a wells guarded secret.

The Crown Prince and Deacon have a very close relationship. Since Deacon could stand, he has been joined to the Crown Prince's hip. Learning all his habits and routines, getting accustomized to everything related to the Crown Prince.
Being around the Crown Prince at times relaxes Deacon and sometimes when they are in private, Deacon and the Crown Prince can bicker and have relaxing banters. It is those times where they seem more like brothers than royalty and servant.
Despite being the same age, Deacon is arguably the stronger one of the two but he is willing to lose to the Crown Prince if need be.

Roséline Fleur Beaumont is the Crown Prince's fiance. He doesn't hate her nor does he enjoy being in her company. Nevertheless, he tries his best to protect her if need be.
There have been many times where he has wanted to stop her from bullying other students but he has no right to step up and risk being caught up in an altercation. It doesn't help that her father is close to the King and is very influential.
Other interactions with her have been her wanting to know the Crown Prince's location and schedule. Other than that, Roséline does not hold any special place in Deacon's heart.
Post-awakening, Deacon is shocked with how nice Roséline becomes. The usual ten second conversations become longer and longer, not that he's complaining. This change in situation causes Deacon to always become alert whenever Roséline is near. He's confused at the sudden change in attitude but he doesn't show it. In short, he has a love-hate relationship with the way Roséline has become, always wondering deep down inside if there's an ulterior motive to whatever she is doing.
After Roséline's reawakening, Deacon and Roséline can be seen talking to each other more, having increasingly more and more cordial conversations with each other.

Deacon has no opinion regarding the second prince. To Deacon, the second prince is someone he too needs to protect on the occasion but not a priority - the Queen's words, not his.
Although Deacon does chat to the second prince on occasion, he tries to keep it minimal, not wanting to show favour on the second prince and risking the King and Queen getting mad about Deacon not protecting the Crown Prince properly.

Deacon was indifferent to the protagonist at the beginning. He did not harbour any special feelings for the girl. Call it cliched but one smile was all it took for the ice aroud his heart to melt.
Since that first smile, there were many more smiles to come and Deacon was never prepared. He had to stay alert and always have his resting face plastered to his face and the protagonist never helped.
The protagonist is also one of the few people that Deacon will let his guard down in the later parts of the game.
If players decide to choose Deacon's route, as the player gets closer with him, Deacon will teach the player hand to hand combat and archery, becoming the player's personal teacher. Doing so will in turn make the Crown Prince despise the player as they are the ones making Deacon let his guard down.
