New Story: Dreaming Of The End

So after lots of years and some contemplation, I've decided to post my currently ongoing story on here. Now it's not going to be something that I manage to roll out very fast and even if I was able to type everything I have currently written, it would take me a lot of free time that I don't have due to work, so it will be a slow update kind of story and may drag out for a series of months or longer, but I want to post it.

I'm hoping that by posting it here, it will help me to finish the story. I've handwritten this story on and off since my last semester in high school, which was 2017- it's been a rough work in progress and I still have not reached the end of the story, I think I've only just began to reach the middle and not as much cool action happens in the first half(but there are some angsty and exciting moments) but most of the story starts to pick up about half way through.

This may not stay that way though, as I type it, I make modifications to the story and change things, whether simple grammatical errors I see or a whole piece of the story.

The story started as a fanfiction of a fantasy I had, that came from a roleplay I was in when I was about 14 or 15. It was originally about Exo's Baekhyun and Ikon's Hanbin, so it wasn't a typical idol pairing, but as I wrote the story I fell more in love with Monsta X's Kihyun and so the story changed to revolve around him, but I kept Hanbin as the other main character.

I wanted to do something different though with the story. The idea behind the characters and names, was that every person was born with 2 names, that your real name held power and because this was set in a magical/supernatural world, names were very powerful tools that could be used against people, but it's also related to closeness, how close you are with that person depends on what you can call them. The concept is one that's been used before in a way, but I really liked that idea. So as an example the main characters real name is Kihyun and his family all adresses him as such, they can do so because of their relation to him, but to everyone else and especially to strangers, he goes by Valerian.

The idea was implemented within the story world many hundreds of years prior to the story timeline due to the evilness the Necromancer King and his children spread across the land, tainting pure magic bloodlines, turning them dark, creating the high percentage of black magic that resides inside the world in the present timeline. The high council, which represents all countries and their kingdom's, decided to try to eliminate or make it harder for people to be harmed by black magic by implementing the 2 name system, because without knowing a person's real name, black magic couldn't harm a person directly. If that system failed, it was solely the fault of the person who entrusted their name to the wrong person. But the dark magic had evolved along with those wielding it, because they could not do harm to someone without knowing their real name, they found a way to harm a person indirectly, meaning they manipulatated or cursed the surrounding area or objects to cause a person harm.

Though the original idea was one of an interesting fanfiction, over the years I've been writing it, it has become something that I one day would like to publish as a legitimate book, which means the real names of the characters will ultimately have to change(unless by some miracle), but I want to post it in it's original form and in the way I had first intended it.

I hope that anyone who reads it will bare with me and enjoy it, just as much or more as I have writing it. I hope that anyone who sees this blog will check out the first 4 chapters and if you like it, continue to read as I update and give me feedback and opinions, those are very much appreciated ❤️ I want to share this with others as I progress, so I can also correct myself and better my writing.

If you've read this far, thank you so much and again I hope you will check out my new story! ❤️
