personality: 

say what you want about nara, but you cannot deny how hard she works. she's the type of trainee who will refuse to leave the practice room until she got it perfect. she is very passionate when it comes to her craft and is not the type to give up despite training for so long. her protective side is something she never admits she has. she doesn't like it when other people throw dirt toward her members. she's the first one to defend them and won't back down.

sharp tongued and fearless, nara doesn't back up when it comes to making her opinions heard. she won't back down and is not shy to call you out especially when you've done some wrong, which she sometimes does a bit too much. since she has been training for so long and in different companies, nara somewhat thinks she's superior compared to the rest of the trainees in the company. due to the fact that she has been training so long and losing friends in the process, she has grown very desperate to debut and became unfriendly to the people around her. 

 

background:
im nara was born on the fifth of april to a family of four, the youngest of two daughters. as a young girl, nara was heavily inspired by her four year older sister hana. hana was just eight years old when dbsk debuted with hug. she was the type of kid who wanted to act mature and grow up as fast as she could, and one of the things she did to act like a grown up was to fangirl over dbsk. while she fangirled over changmin on the television, nara would also be there screaming. since she didn't like to be copied, she used to push her younger sister, telling her not to copy her. but that was what younger nara liked: to do the same things as her sisters.
 

hana took her fangirling a step further by successfully passing an audition in sm entertainment in late 2009, which of course fascinated her younger sister. while nara gets more interested by the entertainment industry, hana was slowly realizing how vile it could be. nara also entered sm in early 2012 but later that year her sister quit training and started studying medicine instead, something she didn't want but it was what their parents want them to do.

while their parents were already outraged when hana started training, they were more carefree when it came to her training. apart from the fact that nara was more of a brat, they knew that hana's love for idols was just a phase, so imagine how outraged they were when nara said she was serious on becoming idols. their parents were not having it, especially her father who was a government employee. perhaps her parents' strong disagreement of her becoming an idol is one of the reasons why she deeply wants to debut.

 

after failing to debut with red velvet in 2014, nara left sm for jyp. at this point nara has completely cut ties with her father, though her mother would occasionally still visit her or go out for meals with her. she starts to change during this time of her training, becoming harder to herself and it is also during her stay in jyp when she becomes the 'queen ' as the other trainees would call her. despite being 'new', she was given a chance to be a brief part in got7's stop stop it music video. this didn't stop her resentment from not being able to debut with twice when she got eliminated in sixteen.

much like most sixteen contestants, nara also left jyp in 2017 to transfer to kjs entertainment. it was a downgrade from the two companies she has been through, but she was desperate especially since it was them who asked her if she'd like to come and not the other way around. she doesn't have the most positive things to say about the company, but she could also feel that her debut is coming so she stayed.
 

lifestyle:
when she's not practising her moves, nara is probably working part time at a convenience store near their dorms. as her father doesnt approve her dreams of becoming an idol, she is not financed by her family - though she is secretly given money by her mother through her sister which she doesn't accept most of the time unless she has no money left. it's quite hard but since she doesn't go to school anymore and has some time off training, she had decided to work to make ends meet ever since she started training in jyp till the early years of her training in kjs.

when she has no schedule, she tends to just relax. sometimes she sleeps for a long time, sometimes she goes back to incheon to meet some old friends. something she does to destress is to jog which she does on her free time. she also likes to clean up her room, does a deep skin care routine or paint her nails.

could you please introduce yourself: nara stares at the vice chairperson for a few seconds, wondering what kind of bull the company was making them do now. when the older woman started to look pissed, she sighs and started introducing herself with a fake smile, "i'm im nara from incheon. twenty years old."

why do you want to become an idol: nara's eyebrow slightly rises due to the personal question she was sure as hell harang didn't really care about. either way, she didn't comment negatively to this matter since she likes these types of questions. "it actually started with my sister. she's the one who wanted to become an idol first, and i just wanted to do whatever she did. but she gave up on being an idol while i continued to fall in love with the thought of being one."

 

what do you think being an idol is like: "difficult, but rewarding. i think... once you enter the stage, you just forget everything and get this feeling of happiness when you perform."

what are some goals that you are going to be setting for yourself: "i'd like to be remember as a legend. much like the seniors before me." she answered confidently without second thoughts. "boa sunbaenim, lee hyori sunbaenim, sunmi sunbaenim... they all worked hard to get to where they are, and they're all flawless performers. my goal is to be like them."

 

of all companies, why kjs: "believe me, i ask myself the same question every single night." she sighs tiredly, earning a glare from harang. nara seemed unfazed though. "one may think that kjs is a hell of a downgrade compared to me being trained in sm and jyp, and i agree, but kjs is the only company who voluntarily came to me so there's that. i was touched, or whatever."

hana is older than nara by four years. back when they were younger nara idolized hana so much that she used to do everything hana did, pissing off the older. she is one of the reasons why she became an idol. since they were both brats when they were kids, they used to fight a lot when they were younger. hana has grown to become a serious and mature woman so they fight less as adults with hana often treating her for meals when they go out and nara sending her sister words of encouragement through texts because she knows she doesn't really want to be a doctor.

now while everybody was thinking how rude nara was during their jyp trainee days, sohee who was has the same age as her was the only one who stood by her side. sohee was carefree and liberated. she believe everybody deserved to do whatever they want as long as it's legal. she's a bit crazy, but not like nara who would get in trouble. she has since left the idol industry for a normal life. sohee and nara still hangout. in fact when it's her day offs and the members are out with their families, nara would usually stay with sohee instead.

what would you do if an male three years older confessed to you? a young nara was delighted. if she was being honest she didn't even like yunjo, but the idea of her bragging the fact that she had a boyfrined to friends and trainees alike was exciting to her. that didn't end well of course. they were immediately broken up by the management in sm. nara cried in front of them and she had never felt so pathetic for herself. meanwhile, his naive and innocent boyfriend didn't even do to save their relationship. since leaving sm, nara has never seen yunjo again until she debuted. he's a solo under a small company now, and despite nara moving on long ago, she likes scaring poor yunjo by glaring at him backstage during shared schedules.

nara is known to be a triple threat but if she were to ask which she likes the most, she prefers dancing, singing and then rapping.

due to the fact that she has the same name as hello venus' nara, the company advised nara to have a stage name. she opted to 'skye', a name that is easy to remember. she also wants to give the meaning of wanting to be on top, just like the skies above us. she prefers her stage name be written in english mainly because in hangul or in a korean pronunciation it's 스카이/ seukai  which irks some exo fans for having a similar sounding name and spelling with kai.

seven years in total - two years in sm, three in jyp, two in kjs.

during her times in sm, a younger nara seemed more enthusiastic. she enjoyed her classes, enjoyed being with fellow trainees, had a lot of hopes when it came to self-improvement. though the more she trained, the more drained she became. she knew it was getting more toxic, but she was also getting more competitive.

it was when she was a trainee in jyp when she really started to be fearless and unfriendly. the only thing on her mind was really to debut, but unfortunately for her, she would always get left out when it comes to member lineup. instead of getting sulky about it, she got more determined to debut even when she was in a smaller company like kjs.

one of the things nara is thankful for is her average visuals, something she doesn't admit out loud. because they are prettier trainees than her, she is mostly not included when trainees are sent to meet some sponsors. but perhaps her small recognition from being in jyp's survival show sixteen and her constant talking back earned her a place in the list. though they were worried about how blunt nara will be when she meets the sponsors, they wanted to punish her in a way.

 

it was in a karaoke bar. some older men of wealthy background were already there, welcoming them as if they were all friends. nara had to bite her tongue throughout the night and respond politely to these pigs. she had never hated herself more than that moment.

the door opens and nara coincidentally had her eyes on it bc she wanted to get the hell out of there. then kang chiwon's resting face comes in, followed by an older man behind, who she supposes is his father. he looked pissed, perhaps for being dragged to something like that. he hadn't notice her until he sat opposite her. stunned upon seeing his past lover, he was equally speechless.

nara looks away, embarrassed to be seen in such a scene. he must think that she has turned to ion or some sort after her failed attempt on debuting. she didn't want him to see her in that state because it wasn't who she is. she was momentarily distracted when one the men talked to her. while she was trying not to look at him, he couldn't move his eyes away from her. guilt had been eating him ever since he left jyp as he had not bid goodbye to her. he could have brought her along. helped her find a job or something. and yet, he didn't.

nara really wanted to fight back. she really did. especially when she felt a hand on her legs. she would have if she was alone, but she had to remember that the other girls were also there and could get in trouble. she couldn't bring to look at them and see how they were because she knew it will just trigger her, but she couldn't hide the fear that she had. before she could even have a breakdown, shattered glass was heard.

 

it was chiwon purposely smashing his wine glass unto the floor due to the scenes in front of him. he had enough, so when he had receive stares from the whole room, he stood up from his seat to drag her away from that place. he brings her to his car, and despite an initial akward silence between the two of them, nara wanted to go back to be with the girls. chiwon had not allowed her to, not wanting her to be in harm. they started to fight, with him insisting that she stays and her protesting. this argument ends up with her bursting to tears out of fear and frustration and him hugging her. he had felt guilty so he apologizes for not only that night, but for abandoning her for the past year.
