ELABORATION 

as a trainee of six years, jihae has mastered the art of charming the crowd. it is said that once she gets serious on stage, you won't be able to breathe for three minutes. a bit exagerrating but she really does hypnotize you when she's performing. but she wasn't always like that. jihae has worked so hard to improve herself throughout the years that she stayed in pledis to the point that she's been known as that kid who passes out and sleeps on the practice room. for her fellow sixteen trainees, she that unnie who never fails to listen to them. their training is tough, and it's probably tougher for jihae who has been one of the longest trainees in their group, but she never fails to listen to their worries. the fact that she has a friendly, approachable attitude topping it with her witty side makes her one of the popular trainees in their batch.

like some trainees in the company, jihae was scouted in the most unexpected time when she was just out with some friends. because of this, jihae is not shy to brag about her visuals and how it got her into the company. she also says that she's top in terms of visual ranking in the group. though she only says that on variety shows/when there are cameras are around, the members are pretty sure she thinks that she herself is beautiful. jihae tends to be very competitive, especially when it comes to playing games with her members to the point that she wouldn't hesistate to cheat just to win. this makes her somewhat childish to the eyes of her members. despite being known as a hardworking trainee, jihae has a lazy side as well. in fact when she has no schedule, she'd never leave her bed unless forced to. she was initially a lazy person until she got scolded a lot back in their trainee years. while she's the unnie everybody goes and talks to when something's bothering them, jihae is not really comfortable to talk about her own feelings, often keeping negative thoughts to herself. the fact that she thinks she needs to be strong as she is one of the older members doesn't really help either. another thing that makes her seem childish is the fact that she's very loud. she seems to forget where she is most of the time and thinks that she's always in the practice room. sometimes she shouts encouraging words, most of the time she just embarasses the rest of her members.

BACKGROUND 

kim jihae was born in daegu on a cold winter evening to parents kim hyunsoo and oh chunhwa, both jeonju natives. they were relatively a happy, normal family but hyunsoo has always thought that his family could have a better life, a life he promised his wife back when they got married. so when his brother who was staying in daegu offered him a job, he didn't think twice to bring his family there before her mother gave birth to her. four years after they move, her younger brother was born. 

as she was born in daegu, jihae considers daegu as her hometown despite her family going back to jeonju during chuseok. ever since she was young, jihae gained interest in music by watching music videos and music shows on the tv. she wasn't really allowed her to watch them because her parents deemed it as scandalous, but that didn't stop her and her undying desire to stand on a stage much like the singers she sees. however, the only stage she could conquer for now was the school plays and performances she'd always join in.

at the age of 17 while on a fieldtrip with friends in seoul, a talent scout approached jihae, asking her to audition for pledis. despite her dreams of being a singer, at first she thought it was a scam as it was so random. she thought how weird it was for a korean company employee just happened to stumble upon her as if it was fate. it wasn't until a friend of hers told her how one of her uncle is actually working in the same company, therefore it wasn't really a scam.

jihae wasted no time to tell her parents of her desire. it wasn't easy for them to say yes, after all his father moved his family in daegu so they could all be together. what was the point of her moving in seoul when she has a decent life there? but knowing how much she wanted to follow her dreams. they eventually let her. the family visited seoul to accompany jihae on her audition where she ultimately passed.

SNS don't really use sns with the main reason being the fact she can't take proper selfies. however, when there's a special occasion (her birthday or her filming something) she'd often upload something on their twitter or ig account.

PERSONALITY trainee jeonghan was quite different from idol jeonghan. he was once hard to talk to, not because he didn't like to, but because he was extremely shy towards new people. he rarely spoke up when in groups, and the fact that he was insecure about his talents just didn't help at all.

as time passed slowly, jeonghan gradually got better performing all thanks to his hardwork. he was more confident and more approachable there were a lot of times that he had wanted to give up, unsure if he really wanted to become a singer anymore, and at those moments, he'd think about his promise to his family. now that he was comfortable with his fellow trainees, jeonghan didn't hide his true personalities anymore. he was now the playful, cheerful hyung which somewhat came of as a surprise to his dongsaengs. however, the biggest surprise is perhaps his caring side. he was always there to listen to his fellow trainees when things get tough to them as well. 

now that he's not afraid to show who he really is anymore, jeonghan is also lazy bum. literally, he wouldn't move an inch once practice is over or when they have time off, which they have rarely. he was the type of person to prefer to lay down instead of doing sports despite being not bad on sports. he could also be sensitive, especially when things don't go his way. he had improved a lot since his pre-debut years, but he still had a bit of insecurity on him to the point he wasn't even sure if he could mentor when he thinks he lacks skills.

RELATIONSHIP STATUS awkward co-workers/future lovers?

LOVE STORY despite joining pledis almost at the same time, with jihae entering the company a few months before him,  the two trainees displayed distinct personalities upon the new change in their life. jeonghan was initially shy, rarely talking and letting the other trainees speak to him first instead of taking the initiative. on the other hand, jihae was very friendly, too friendly sometimes, but she was quite known to the trainees both males and females.

when she first joined the company, an older female trainee had bought her food as if to make her comfortable as she is a newbie (not knowing she's already is) so jihae had thought buying food for the newer trainees was a thing. the trainee who comes after her was the shy jeonghan who was really confused and skeptical when she told him that he's going to buy him food. though he refused, he found himself being dragged to the convinience store after their morning practise during lunch time. when seungcheol heard about it, he couldn't stop laughing to the point he'd whenever they'd see each other. jihae was so pissed she ignored seungcheol for a week.

back then, jihae only thought of jeonghan as a friend. but  ever since she offered to help him improve his dancing skills at dawn when there were less trainees in the company, they started hanging out more when they could. whether he just wanted to buy her her favorite chocolate milk as a sign of thank you for helping her, or when she wants to rant about how her younger brother is ignoring her text messages. but most importantly, when times got rough. it was each other's arms they look for when they get insecure or exhausted. once, jeonghan told her while crying that he wanted to quit, that he doesn't want to be an idol anymore, jihae cried as well. she was devastated. for the first time, she didn't know what to say as she didn't want to sound selfish and ask him to stay, and at the same time she didn't want to be apart from him. thank god seungkwan convinced him to stay.

surprisingly, it was jeonghan who confessed to her first. it was just weeks before they started shooting their reality/survival show, jeonghan asked for her help one last time. when they were resting after an intense dance practice and while she was braiding his hair (a habit she particularly liked doing with his hair for some reason), he admits that he had been liking her for quite a while now. though she didn't really reject him, jihae quietly reminds him that they're prohibited to date.

after seventeen's debut, it wasn't as easy to see the boys  around like before. jihae wasn't so sure if she's thankful for that or not, because she didn't know how to face jeonghan. whenever she sees him with s, she'd act as if his confession never happened. when she does see him alone, she'd just smile and slowly run away from him, reasoning that she was late for a practicing as an excuse to avoid him.

ENDING perhaps it's her fear not being able to debut once pledis finds out that she had a relationship why she has been avoiding jeonghan ever since that night. she knew if he saw him more, she might fall for him more, and maybe if they didn't see each other as often as before, they'd forget their feelings for one another. but now they're in the same program, and though jeonghan is not her mentor, she wouldn't be able to ignore him this time. it was finally time for her to tell him her feelings for the sake of feeling less awkward and tense around him.
