• king of dreams, sleeping prince, sleeping beauty :: are some of the nicknames dubbed to him by his classmates in the diamond class since, he is always seen asleep in class, and never wakes up unless he wants to.
• tris, trey, stan :: these are the nicknames given to him by his parents and a few friends back when he was still living in england.

• korean :: fluent :: although he was born and raised in england, sanghyun was taught their mother tongue since he can talk. and whenever his father visits him and his mother in england, he will talk to him korean as practice (or as a test for sanghyun).
• english (british) :: fluent :: since sanghyun was born and raised in england, he grew up learning the english language but when he arrived in korea, he immediately switched to his native tongue and seldom uses english unless his father brings him to some business meetings as his training.
• mandarin :: semi-fluent :: at a very young age, all three brothers have private tutors to teach them language, especially mandarin since, his father can clearly see the rise in the chinese economy (meaning there will be a lot of business with the chinese). with them fluent in the language, they can easily make business transactions with chinese.

APPEARANCE.   

• sanghyun actually looks like lee know of stray kids however, rather than having black hair, sanghyun once coloured his hair ash brown and since then on he kept the colour. he has pearly white skin adn teeth which he only shows in some rare occassions. the first piercing he got was one earlobe piercing on both ears. after a few months, he got one helix on the left ear and two helix piercings on the right ear (here's a chart if you need it). his father scolded him for getting the piercings but, that never stopped him from getting more. he doesn't have any tattoo and he doesn't plan on getting one (that is really crossing the line with his father).

FASHION STYLE.   

• at school :: sanghyun always goes to school looking like he only woke up (which is probably true). he doesn't try to fix his tie, always keeping it loose and sometimes doesn't even wear it, and he will never tuck his shirt inside his pants. he hates wearing his school attire in the proper way, always saying that he has been in suits since he was young and that he's had enough with all the formalities. he also doesn't wear his blazer and he just carry it around and sometimes, doesn't even bring it to school.

• at home :: sanghyun has hundreds of clothes in his walk-in closet however, he rarely uses most of them since, some of the styles are not to his taste (because, his mother bought them and she really doesn't know his sons' personal preference). he only use some of the most extravagant clothes to parties held by other socialites or when he attends his father's businesss meetings. sanghyun likes to wear comfy clothes, and because of the cold weather of south korea (and even back then, england), he ought to wear sweaters, turtlenecks and cardigans. he likes to keep it simple with warm colors and sometimes monochromatic ones but, never the loud and boisterous colors.

• going out :: sanghyun always sticks to warm and monochromatic clothes. whenever he goes out with keonwoo, sanghyun will wear a turtleneck or a simple branded shirt with a very expensive blazer on. he likes to keep things simple yet stylish and he will never wear anything very colourful inside and outside of their house.

• attending business meetings :: kang dongseok requires two out of his three sons to attend the company's meeting. there were even times when he will pull them out of their classes to be accustomed with how the company functions. as the meetings of their company are formal gatherings, sanghyun always wear the finest suits money can buy. he'll be seen wearing desmond merrion supreme bespoke, william westmancott ultimate bespoke, and even alexander amosu vanquish II bespoke.

"to be honest, i understand. i just don't really know how to help you right now."

sanghyun rarely shows it but he's actually quite empathetic. he understands what's it like to be in the shoes of other people however, even though he is perceptive like that, he seldom helps the person with his or her problem, thinking that at this stage of life, everyone should be able (or are slowly being able) to come up with plan b's, c's and d's whenever their plan a doesn't work at all. 

"well, if it's not available then maybe, we can use an alternative?"

sanghyun is very resourceful. he can find alternatives to replace other unavailable items and be able to come up with a better plan with the usage of those items. he can find other resources to accomodate their business' needs and make it work even better. 

"if we increase the price too much then, we'll lose all the demand for it. it's like your saying, 'this is not for sale'."

sanghyun is very intelligent. he understands graphs, equations and mathematics easily and learns equally fast. his mind function like no other when it involves numbers especially the number or their family business. he can come up with plans after plans after plans within minutes and he can also come up with all the pros and cons of those plans so he knows the consequences of each one he makes. this is a trait that he developed at such a young age and his father was able to see it progress exponentially; training him and giving him harder jobs to finish. 

"why are you panicking? we've been trained to conquer the world since we were young so, whether we know it or not, the process is already engraved in our bones."

nothing really fazes the second child of the kang family. he stays calm and focus whenever a disaster hits the market or their company, thinking of plans and alternatives to slowly build their business back up again. he never panicks, saying that it will only cause more disaster than needed. even with too much work to be done, he will organize his things and calms his mind to slowly be able to work.

"i know it's tough; i can see you haven't been sleeping well but, just hang on, you'll make it."

sanghyun is very sensitive to his surroundings - especially to the people he is close to. he can easily feel the atmospherre changing whenever he and his older brother would pass by each other. or when his younger brother is feeling down and tries to hide it. though he doesn't say a word about it, he feels very sad and lonely whenever the people around him are lying to him or holding a grudge. he will try to comfort them by using small gestures like saying, "good morning" or patting their backs or head.

"why should i sleep at night when i can sleep in the morning?"

sanghyun is a night-owl meaning he functions more during the night. rather than be awake in the morning, he is more awake in the evening. he will do all his advance studies and work given to him by his father during the night when no one will disturb him. because of his unique schedule, it causes him to be asleep in class most of the time which enrages their professors yet, they couldn't do anything to the students since, they are the children of the most powerful people in the country.

"i'll do it later." one week after, he hasn't done it at all.

sanghyun is a very lazy boy. as long as he doesn't think that it should be a priority or be part of his to-do list then, he will never do it (or maybe, he will if he felt like it) but, don't get your hopes up, this kid has a pace of his own. his first priority is sleep; second is eating; third is doing doing his advance study at night and the jobs his father gives him then, the rest follows. as long as he deems it not worthy of his time, he will not do it no matter how much anyone force him to do it. 

"honestly speaking, our futures are already set in stone. all of us will either be the next ceo or we'll work in our family's businesses and us going to school and getting our degrees are only for formality's sake."

sometimes, sanghyun's mouth doesn't have a filter. he rarely speaks, yes, but when he does, it will be full of snarky comments and sarcastic tones - which angers other people. though, he also uses it on his best friend, lee keonwoo, it is a way for him to tease his best friend, but, if you are a stranger to him and you did something stupid, expect that he will, without a doubt, embarrass you in front of many people by name-calling you.

"if you're me then, i'll tell you. unfortunately, you're not."

sanghyun likes to keep things to himself. he never mentions anything to anyone - expecially when it involves himself. people say that he's quite the private person not even involving his own family in his endeavors. and honestly, he appreciates it whenever nobody asks him regarding about himself - like how he feels, how is his classes. to him, it feels like people are interrogating him and asking for something to use against him and his family.

"why must i be the one to inherit the family business? i don't even want it."

sanghyun hasn't found his purpose in life. from the very beginning, he never really liked to inherit the family business, knowing that it will be too troublesome (with all the social gatherings he has too attend; meetings are fine to him) but, since his father insisted that he become the heir to the company, sanghyun still hasn't really rejected him, knowing that his father will not take a no for an answer. and knowing that he still hasn't found what he wants to do with his life, he cannot go bargain with his father, just yet.

BACKGROUND.   

BETTER PLACE. on september nine, kang sanghyun, the second son of kang dongseok and kang myeonji was born in london, england. although the doctors adviced myeonji to not travel for the london fashion week, kang myeonji still did and by the time her plane arrived in london, she was immediately admitted to the hospital because she was in labor. after immediately hearing the news, kang dongseok flew to london to be next to his wife. and thus, the little bundle of joy was born healthy and without any complications. nonetheless, his mother still attended the london fashion week and bought many couture dresses.

THE SECOND HEIR. after being born, his father decided to make his wife and some of their maids and butlers live in one of their mansions in london, thinking that it will be beneficial if sanghyun grew up in an english speaking country. so in the earlier years of his life, sanghyun never really see his older brother that much since, he was staying in south korea studying. in return, he became the favorite of his mother, buying him branded clothes from all over the world. at such a young age, sanghyun showed interest in busniess and economics which completely delighted his father, thinking that he has another gifted heir. because of this, his father immediately called tutors for different fields: language, music, mathematics and economics, policy and even the arts. however, sanghyun showed disinterest in the field of arts but, loved mathematics, economics and policy. this made his father very happy. he was also taught how to play the cello - which he loves so much. he never attended any elementary school during his younger years and he only has tutors in all subjects and in all fields however, rather than being left behind, he became smarter than kids his age. and because he was mostly surrounded by adults, sanghyun learned to behave like one.

SOMETHING WILD. when sangyun was four years old, during one of the soiree in london, england, sanghyun met his first friend, lee keonwoo, the heir to the astraea development, one of the biggest real state developers in the entire asia - if not the world. they were being introduced to different wealthy family, being showcased by their mothers to everyone. they were so out-of-place in the party, not knowing what to do when their mothers left them to mingle with the crowd. keonwoo was the first one to make the move, asking sanghyun if he wants to do something. being the shy and cautious child he was, he didn't really answered his question adn just ignored him for the first part. when sanghyun was getting bored and was about to slowly drift to dreamland, keonwoo tapped him in the shoulder and asked if he wants to explore the place they were in. at first, sanghyun was quite reluctant, not really knowing who the kid is but, he thought that maybe he can get the boredom out of his system if he went with him. after their first meeting, the two boys became friends. they were inseparable since then on, and keonwoo's older twin joined their group.

READY YET. years passed and this time, durint his middle school days, sanghyun studied in one of the most expensive private school in london. his bond with keonwoo grew however, his bond with keonhee and and his older brother decreased exponentially - especially after his father announces that he is considering sanghyun to inherit the family business. his brother held a grudge to him after working so hard for the position of ceo. and because of the tension with his brother, sanghyun didn't want to accept his father proposition anymore because to him, his brother is much more important. for years, he has been exposed to what it was like to live in the glamour and extravagant life of the upper class members and he hated it. everyone was trying to outdo each other, only caring about the status. but, there was nothing sanghyun can do. after all, he was born into this kind of world. so, in the end, he tolerated their culture and tries to blend in.

THE DIAMOND CLASS. after middle school, it was already been decided by his parents that he will go back to live in south korea with the rest of them. it was also been decided that he will be attending the prestigious yeong gwang private university. it was a shock to keonwoo but he understands since, it was the order of sanghyun's father. in the end, sanghyun flew back to korea, trying to adapt himself with the sudden change in culture. it was hard at first, only locking himself inside his room, doing his research on yeong gwang private academy. ofc, he has heard the name before, who wouldn't? his brother was an alumnus of this prestigious school after all. he was impressed to say the least but, some of it was already expected since, only the rich and most influential can be admitted in to the school. one day, he got a call from his best friend, he was shock to know that keonwoo traveled back to korea and was also applying for yeong gwang private academy. he was also happy to say the least that his best friend is with him in a whole new other country.

LIFESTYLE. 

morning at the kang mansion :: kang sanghyun, whether it's a school day or not, will always sleep in. he will wake up at around eight-am (the latest nine-am) which means he will miss one or two classes in the morning. once sanghyun wakes up, he will languidly move around the house, sleep still present within him. he doesn't really care whether he was late to class or if he misses a school day (though i can't say anything about his professors). he will take his time in the bath, mostly spending around thirty minutes washing up since he probably sleep in it as well. he will always have a small meal for breakfast, a cup of coffee and french toasts only prepared by the best chefs in korea. as he eats his breakfast, he reads the news and check the progress of their company. on his way to school, he will choose among his three cars to use however, he will not drive (but his driver).

at yeong gwang private academy :: once arriving at school, he will casually walk in the diamond classroom, drop his bag on the side of his table and will fall asleep immediately. although if they have exams, sanghyun will arrive on time to take it. when lunch time comes, he will order a small meal since, sanghyun has a small stomach. he couldn't eat too much or he might only vomit it all. he will eat with his best friend, lee keonwoo, while checking the progress of their business once more. after lunch, he has two choices either he goes back to class and sleep or skip class and find somewhere more quiet to sleep. depending on his mood, he'll choose either. once classes are over, he will go either to the library, rooftop, or the tennis clubroom to sleep or finish some of his unfinished business (that his father gave him). he will wait for his best friend to finish his club activities and they will both go home via his car; or maybe drop by somewhere when they feel like it.

social gatherings :: it is not really uncommon when a wealthy family invites others into a soiree. of course, as one of the heir and the son of the kang dongseok, he is required to attend such grand balls. however, for sanghyun these gatherings are only to showcase the wealth of each family and build transactions within their cicle. after all, being part of the upper one percent means you have to keep face and interact with your own kind. although he thinks this is a waste of time, he can see some benefit to it as well. and even though most of the time he gets bored in these kinds of gatherings, he tolerates it since, his family can have more opportunities such as one of the daughters of a high class family is about to have her debut, and he can easily offer their cruise line to spend her birthday there (easy business).

ELABORATION.  the kang family owns the finest and most expensive luxury cruise liner in the entire south korea -and maybe in the entire asia. their ships travel around the world; from south korea to china to madagascar to hawaii, the name avallon group is well-known anywhere and everywhere.  the word "grandeur" doesn't even come close to how extravagant and spectacular the interior and exterior designs of their cruise ships. the avallon group operates more than one-hundred cruise ships and operates four cruise lines including: atlantis cruises, lemuria cruises, seven seas line, and aegean line.

RELATIONSHIPS.

father (fc: chris pang) :: kang dongseok (fourty-seven) :: ceo of the avallon group :: dongseok has always been an ambitious, goal-oriented workaholic. he inherited the family business after proving himself to his own father who was the founder of the avallon group. and now that he has three sons to choose from, dongseok wanted only the best and most worthy to lead the avallon group. he has always been strict with his child, always asking for perfection in everything they do. and although he rarely shows it, he has always been proud of his three sons and he feels guilty whenever he thinks that only one of them will inherit the position of the ceo.

mother (fc: lee young ae) :: kang myeonji  (fourty-two) :: korean socialite, korean fashion icon :: kang myeonji is what you can call a trophy wife. she loves how the public showcases her wealth whenever she gets featured in magazines as one of the wealthiest people in south korea. she enjoys seeing people be envious of the things she have. being very materialistic, she only accepts having the finest things in life. she will always attend fashion weeks in different countries, splurging their money on branded items, and just relaxing in different countries as she pleases. she doesn't have an ounce of care about how she spends her family's money as long as she gets what she wants. and because of her always traveling to different places, she seldom takes care of her children, leaving them all alone in the care of their maids and butlers.

"i don't even know why father prefers you over me. you don't even care about the family business."

older brother (fc: lee taeyong) :: kang taeyong (twenty) :: university student (third year) :: sanghyun has never been close with his older brother even when they were still young. unlike sanghyun who rarely studies to get the grades he wanted, taeyong has to double - no, triple - his efforts just to be able to keep up with everything that is going on in his life. being the first born, it was expected of him to inherit the business however, the moment their father considered sanghyun as a much worthy heir, taeyong cracked, leaving only bitter resentment towards his younger sibling. from then on, they were never able to patch things between them and it only gotten worse.

"sanghyun-hyung, are you and taeyong-hyung fighting?"

younger brother (fc: moon woojin) :: kang hyuntae (five) :: cutest baby brother, kindergarten student :: hyuntae even for a young child has always been perceptive. he can tell whether there is something bad happening (like fighting among his older brothers) however, his mind, still innoncent and too young, thinks that it will be easily solved by giving them what they like. for such a young age, this kid is quite smart and just like his older brothers, he has been learning different languages at an early age.

"you know, if you only try to stay awake in class and pass all your school requirements, you can actually take first place."

best friend (fc: hyunjae of the boyz) :: lee keonwoo (seventeen) :: diamond class student :: keonwoo is the younger of the lee twins. honestly, sanghyun never thought anyone would stick with him until this age because of his attitude. sometimes, he thinks that people only likes to be his friend because of his family's wealth however, keonwoo proved him wrong. keonwoo stayed by his side and even flew all the way from england to south korea just to be with him. he never really expected for anyone to do that for him so, he kept keonwoo by his side (and well, his older sister is his fiancée). to be honest, he will never admit this to anyone but, sanghyun appreciates the fact the keonwoo stayed by his side and continues to be his confidant and best friend.

"i can't believe i used to be friends with you. and now, i'm engaged to you? yup, no thanks."

fiancée (fc: winy of lipbubble) :: lee keonhee (seventeen) :: student at a finishing school in england :: keonhee is the older twin sister of keonwoo (by nine minutes). she used to be good friends - best friends - with sanghyun when they were little however, the wealth and influence of their family got to her head and she began to change. rather than being the friendly and caring child sanghyun once knew, keonhee became the materialistic, snobbish and very bratty. he didn't like how she turned out to be and the once friendship that they have, disappeared completely.

CLUBS.   is the going home club applicable? just kidding. honestly, sanghyun isn't involve in any clubs however, after every class, he will go to the library, the rooftop or even the tennis club's clubroom (or any quiet places, really) and sleep there (or maybe read something) with his earphones on. he will wait for his best friend to finish his club activities before going home with him.

STUDY HABITS.   contrary to popular belief, sanghyun actually studies; he just doesn't show it. to be honest, he studies a lot especially during the night after he eats dinner and locks himself in his room. he will study from around nine in the evening until the early morning of the next day (maybe around three or four-am). he will do advance studies in all of his subjects (except physical education, cause you know, why should he?) so by the time, the teachers discuss the topic (or the next one), he has already studied it and he just sleeps in class to regain back the sleeping time he lost and so that he has a full energy to study at night. but because the teachers and his fellow classmates only see the lazy and sleepy side of him ( and his rank is in the bottom half of the class), they assume that he's just winging everything and is just lucky to be part of the diamond class

with regards to his exams, sanghyun just answers as many questions as he can before the sleepiness attacks. but when it does attack, sanghyun will immediately drop his pen, calling it done, followed by his head, and he's asleep once more. he really doesn't care aboout his grades or any of the assignments or school projects but, when he feels like doing it, he will. but most of the time, he will not pass any of the required projects or pass them late (if he even cared to do it).
