contrary to her innocent doe-like looks, yeseul has a thrill for adventures. she's doesn't go down easily especially on dares from her friends. her sociable attitude is what makes her very popular not just in the academy, but outside of its wall. in fact, she even considers her maids and servants as her very own friends and not a lot of rich kids could say the same. she is also very reliable and is usually the shoulder to cry on of her friends. for yeseul, there's always a way to have fun and to find a way to make something enjoyable, the only exception is when she's with her parents, but more on that later.
due to her childhood, she doesn't really have the closest relationship with her parents. in fact, when it comes to them, she comes off very stubborn and discourteous as she talks back to her parents and does whatever she wants. she has a big insecurity towards the students around her whom she thinks are 'better, prettier, smarter' than her but is just good at hiding it. something that also shocks people is how loud she could be as their first impression of her usually is that she's a shy innocent kid who would rarely say a word, when in fact she's the opposite.
BACKGROUND.
it was no surprise when it was announced that the heir to skyward union, park joowon, and the daughter of their biggest investor, shin hojung, were to wed despite their young ages. rich families didn't wait for their children to grow up, they just force them for the sake of investments and public image. it took long for them to have a child. exactly five years after their marriage, park yeseul was born, the newest pawn of the parks.
yeseul was completely different from when she was a child. she was cheerful, she was playful, she was exactly what a child should be. but things change slowly. she was starting to see her father lesser than usual. her innocent mind used to think that he was a superhero just like in the movies that she watches, or at least that was what her nannies told her whenever the young girl misses her father. while joowon was away most of the time, hojung was always there. unfortunately, she was mostly by her side to train her to be the heiress that she was to be so she could please her in-laws.
growing up, she was isolated from the other kids as she'd be having her private lessons when she was younger straight after school. at this point, the once cheerful kid has turned very depressed, exhausted from the constant scoldings from her mother. 'are you even doing your best?', 'study harder!', 'don't even think about resting tonight!' - those are just some of the things she'd often hear from her mother. she grew more and more tired, especially after finding out that her father had been cheating on her mother for some time. when she confronted her parents about it, she receives a slap from his father and for the first time her mother had no words.
'people like us are not made to love, yeseul-ah.´ her mother would explain. `we´re born to lead this country.'
after starting high school, yeseul had more free time in her hands. mainly because she had more guts to sneak out of their mansion, not like it's hard anyway. her parents aren't even there most of the times, with her mother finally having found a hobby, thank god, hence why she'd consider her maids more of a family than her own parents. around this time, yeseul's oldest cousin arrived from nyc, and together with her boyfriend, she was taught how to have fun.
except it wasn't the good kind of fun. sure she had friends now, sure she was happier, but by doing things that were illegal. underage drinking and clubbing were just one of these things that she does on the weekends.
LIFESTYLE.
yeseul is what you would call an it girl. she's a socialite who's always invited in parties and fashion shows despite her young age. she is often seen rubbing shoulders with a-list stars and partying with foreign celebrities. even though it's a school night, best believe she'll be going to the biggest party in uptown gangnam with her pictures all over her instagram and snapchat. due to her connections and her family background, she's often in the headlines both local and international news.
when she's not painting the city red with her friends, she practices sports on her free time. it was something that helps her relieve her stress. she is part of the school's volleyball team, but is also keen on practicing other sports.
though she is quite popular in the academy, her classmates are not particularly in favour of her image. they know she doesn't study, which is why some of them wonder how she got into the diamond class, some applaud her saying that she must be naturally smart if she never opens her textbook and yet still ranks 12th in the school. unfortunately for due to their different schedules, she doesn't really see her friends much but she's always with them whenever she could.

yeseul is the type not to study, but is naturally smart. if she was younger when her mom had more control over her, she would have gotten a higher rank in class. but due to her being rebellious towards her parents, she has completely lost any interest when it comes to studying. people are even in wondering how she manages to be in the top twelve, even she is quite surprised herself. all she likes about studying is taking notes, and that's it. when it comes to exams, she reads and actually tries to study because she doesn't want to embarrass herself. but as soon as she gets bored, she'd close her textbooks and go to sleep. she's also the type to submit projects at the last minute, much to the annoyance of her professors.

coming from a well-off family, wan lei has been educated by the smartest professors in prestigious academies. add that to the fact that he likes reading books and to know more about different topics. he grew up as an intelligent young man, earning the top spot in each year in his school grade. he earned the nickname 'prince charming' due to his courteous and charming traits, something that he has had since he was young.

LOVE STORY.
▸ yeseul and lei have met a long time ago at his home town shanghai, way before they were engaged. perhaps they were just five years old when they were introduced to one another as their fathers are very close friends and were once childhood friends like they were.
he was actually one of the few people she was allowed to play with at the tines her parents had control over her, which is why she actually liked him when he visits her in seoul or when she goes to china. it was as if he brought the best in her, making her forget all the stupid things her parents are forcing her to do and letting her remember that they're still kids. as they grow older, they see each other less which is why they, unfortunately, grew further apart. add that to the fact that yeseul changed completely during their teenage years. lei wasn't very happy about it.
they were sixteen years old when their families had a private dinner, in which their parents announced their engagement. of course, yeseul was outraged. she thought that her parents have crossed the line. lei was unsurprisingly calm, that was so typical of him. he must have known as he was closer to his parents than she was. this made their relationship more distant, with yeseul being pissed that she was stuck in an engagement that she didn't want. a loveless marriage like her parents were the last thing she wants in her life.
at the same year, wan lei moved to seoul and transferred to the academy, residing in their dormitory. he proved to be popular with the student body, have no difficulties when he first arrived, not even with the language. he is sometimes distant towards everyone and yet he managed to be the top of the class. at times like that, she thinks about their engagement, secretly thankful that it was with lei she was engaged with.

INTERACTION.
▸ lei wishes he could have been there during yeseul's breaking point but unfortunately he was too late. he tries to make it up to her this time that they were in the same city. but yeseul, being stubborn, ignores his approaches most of the time. it was until one day he got tired of her , he purposely locks themselves in their classroom so that she doesn't run away when he wants to talk to her.
it was then where he confesses that he doesn't like to see her that way when she used to be so bright and innocent when they were younger. he promises to help and protect her, only to be scoffed at by the girl. he asks for nine months to spare. he just wanted to finish high school and enter university, and then he'll go to her parents himself to ask to cancel the wedding. amused by his promise, she agrees.
she doesn't tell him, but yeseul promises to make his life more exciting. he promises to himself to make her fall in love with him, cause frankly being engaged to her is the most exciting thing that has happened to him, having had a crush on her since they were young.
ENDING.
▸ they do break off the wedding, with wan lei taking up the responsibility of telling it to both of their parents. he leaves for oxford, but not before confessing his feelings for her.

shin joon is that type of kid who's always drawing all the time. you'd see him doodling something at the back of the class, but his artisticness are beyond that. apart from art, joon is very keen of music as well and has a lot of ideas buzzing in his mind. despite being born with a silver spoon, you'd never hear joon brag about the many houses or cars his family has and though yeseul can somewhat relate to that, it is his love for having fun which makes her into him.
while wan lei is the prince charming, shin joon is the bad boy of the academy. he is known to talk back to everyone when he feels like it, even to his professors. it doesn't really help that he has a short temper and tends to get jealous easily, especially when it comes to yeseul
LOVE STORY.
▸ joon and yeseul first met the first time yeseul stepped into a club. she was with her cousin and her boyfriend, hailey and brian, while joon was with his friends. though she went on her own will, she couldn't help but help to feel anxious as she was out of her comfort zone. noticing this, joon approaches the girl and despite being actually strangers, yeseul becomes calmer after finding out they were born in the same year, much more when she finds out that they go to the same school.
joon has had his eyes on yeseul ever since then. he liked how rebelilous she was despite that cute little face of hers, while yeseul liked his bad boy image, which is why she let him court her when he confesssed his feelings towards her. he was the type of guy her parents wouldn't want her to mess up with, so she's often hanging out with joon.
