personality



OUTGOING

jiwoo will talk to anyone and will not shut up until she literally runs out of words to say. she loves talking and joking around and is one of the members that kind of mc's during vlives or during tv specials. she doesn't have much fear, socially, be it because she just doesn't care to the point that it's fine or because she actually has confidence in her personality- either way, she's a good speaker. she enjoys the art of conversation and also likes to talk to many kinds of people. she's the type to walk up to a foreigner and ask them in the best way she could how their day is going. 


IMPULSIVE

once again though, there's a time and a place to do everything and jiwoo isn't sure of either. she can't grasp the idea of a responsible or well timed action, so instead she just does as she thinks. it's cute and all to go running after a frog they find while filming, but not if the girls are running late for something and she isn't aware of the consequences. i can imagine she would get introuble for just blurting things out that didn't suit the girls image and getting a lot of hateful looks from hyunseo and headshakes from hana. she doesn't think before she acts or speaks, and it can be pretty bad sometimes. 


PLAYFUL

jiwoo enjoys having fun, as most people do. she likes to join in on the fun times and amplify it times ten. she's a lot to handle, but she's got a youthful sort of positivity to her. she really shines when she is running around playing or horsing around with the girls or chasing after butterflies. she likes to impishly pester people, showing them her affection in ways such as pulling on ears or poking them. she is a cute kid, but is certainly a little punk sometimes, too. 


NAIVE

with her youth comes all sorts of things and a lack of understanding for how the real world works, is one of those things. she isn't quite sure what to make of it all yet, and it makes her have a very oblivious air to her. she doesn't grasp consequences in long term, and can't even begin to worry about what taxes are. she is in that time of her life where she isn't a girl anymore, but she's also not quite a young woman, either. she's stuck between to two mindsets and struggles a bit with it. 


CARING

despite being pretty all over the place, she does take notice of things. she knows who everyone likes, she knows all the juicy gossip and knows who said what, before everyone else does. she pays mind to little things, if only so she can run off and hold the tea over people, but despite being a little about it, it leads to her also being able to do little things for her friends. she would be the type to pretend to get too cold and have another girl that she knows stand next to the guy she likes, switching spots for better warmth or something. she tries not to let it be too well known that she's got a soft spot, but she indeed does. 


INSECURE

the biggest flaw in jiwoo's personality comes from her insecurities. she never had a problem until puberty, but it's only gotten worse since then. she's always thought of herself as the ugly sister and still thinks that now that she's in GJSN, if not more so now because some of the girls are literally stunning. she also feels like she holds the group back because she oesn't contribute much, despite them saying she's just as important as anyone else. she doesn't sing well, and she most certainly isn't the best dancer (yet!), how can she possible stand next to these girls? even after being in the SLJK-G program for as long as she has been, she still managed to be one of the lowest ranking girls. she acts out at times because of her frustrations. 


 

background 

jiwoo was born in 1999 into a family that typically always had more than they needed. with her father having several hotels under his belt and her mom being a known socialite, it's safe to say she never had to want anything. this, maybe, and the the fact that she was the baby played into  bit of a sibling rivalry between herself and her older sister. sure, they both had the same parents and money, but the girls parents' always seemed to favor young jiwoo. 

anything she could have ever wanted, jiwoo got and it drove her sister mad. jiwoo looked at a pair of ballet slippers once and her mother immediately got her into the top ballet lessons after school. jieun? well one time she made all good marks and her parents got her a new pencil case. you can see there's a bit of favoritism going on. 

with ballet, though, jiwoo found something she was into- dance. she wasn't so keen on ballet or classical music, but it was a stepping stone into hip-hop classes and even jazz. she loved how it felt to prance around in weird ways, it was freeing, in a way. at home, she was always having to act the part of a wealthy daughter but at the dance studio, she could just flop around and have fun with the other kids. however, this is also where she developed a bit of her insecurity from. she began to compare herself to other kids, more than she naturally ought to and once kids heard about her father, they saw her differently, making things worse. despite all her talent, though certainly a "diamond in the rough" sort of thing, people began to assume her money was all that she had. 

when her father began investing in sm entertainment back in 2010, he was quick to pick up a good amount of stock, thus making him a pretty powerful man in the company money holdings. once he caught wind of the company in the process of hiring a new director for a project they were currently developing, he became very interested. rather than jieun, his eldest daughter, he thought to have jiwoo audition. admittedly, he did get her the audition, but it was on her own luck and talent that she passed. in 2011, jiwoo became an official trainee and began the grueling process of not letting the cat out of it's gucci bag. after the incident in her dance classes, she was determined to not let this group fin out about her father. instead, she made a 360 degree turn in her personality, attraccting others because she was outgoing and rambunctious. she wanted to make good friends and to dance, so that's what she did. 

TRAINING

2011 // MARCH 03 // jiwoo enters into the training program via passing an audition with a dance.

2012 //  jiwoo enters into the SLJK- G program, if only by the hair on her chin. she wasn't a strong candidate for it, but kyungah isn't stupid and knows the benefits her fathers' investing would have. she is harder on jiwoo, however in hopes of inspiring some sort of better paced improvement. 


from 2012 and forward, training was tough on jiwoo. not only did she have to deal with the base trainee classes, but she also had to go to the special program based classes afterwards. she struggled to keep up with her vocals, seeing as the girls in the program sounded like goddesses already, but her dancing was pretty good. despite needing more work, the staff always commented on how much a natural she was, which, at the very least, pacified kyungah. 


TALENT TWIN(S)


dance // gfriend's yerin // she has a good, natural sense of rhythm. her dancing looks very fluid because of this. despite not being the main dancer, one might be able to get tricked into thinking she was a main dancer just because she gives off the right vibes while dancing. she has loads of potential.

vocals // tzuyu of twice // not the best, admittedly. but she can carry a tune and that's the important part. 

SCANDAL(S)

 debut era 

the press caught wind that jiwoo's father had a claim in the stocks of sm and ran a mile with it. netizens everywhere gave her a hard time because of the so called "easy-way-in" rumor. sm entertainment makes a statement that goes along the lines of "....all trainees must pass talent and skill requirements in order to stay active trainees, she wouldn't have been in the line-up if she didn't meet standards..." and things, eventually, quiet down, but it's one of those things that never gets swept completely away, just kind of ignored. she gets labeled "The useless one with money".

this would all start when jiwoo is caught eating something off the diet or joking around with the boys too much. anti fans and journalist see it as "oh, the other girls have to uphold this image but she doesn't?" sort of thing. jiwoo gets all sorts of hate and people even try to bring up past situations like this. SM steps in and handles it accordingly. (maybe because her dad is getting testy about their lack of doing much about her past issues?)

despite her father being a prominent stockholder in the sm company and the project in general, he's still a dad and jiwoo goes to him for everything. he may be strict with her (which leads to her being a bit rebellious at times) but he cares for her. he keeps a close eye on her and her image and the groups' image but isn't too bad of a guy. 

kwon jieun // 24 // sister // 5/10

jiwoo and her sister aren't usually sympatico. jieun was always jealous that jiwoo got all the attention and was really upset that their father got her into the sm auditions and into the trainee program. the two aren't bitter enemies, but they aren't best friends, either. she always wanted to be an idol and seeing her sister get to do so, without really any trials just rubs her the wrong way. 

mark lee // 1999 //  buddy // 8/10

she's the same age as everyone's favorite boy so the two get along pretty well. while doing the regular training, she was often put in his groups for age based evaluations and kind of grew up together because of that. they aren't in any way attracted to each other but she knows ALL his tea and he knows ALL of her tea. 

YOO YOUNGMI // 1997 // GJSN MEMBER // 7/10

jiwoo admires youngmi for being so pretty and talented, and also kind of bounces off of her as a safety net. jiwoo is way more rambunctious than youngmi, but she knows that youngmi is cool enough to watch out for her when she's too busy putting the boys in their places or chasing frogs down. she's all over the place so it's cool to have someone that kind of keeps an eye on you without the pressures of being too doting.

johnny //  7/10  "man, have you kissed her yet or nah?" she pesters him all the time about that but she means well. in fact, she just pesters him. he's tall and an easy target so he's the target of her picking "fights" (her trying to be cool and then whining when someone actually starts to step up) big brother-esque.
taeyong //  7/10  oh boy, what can he say? he already has 20 loud, wild children so why not add one more? he's also a very brotherly figure. he scolds her all the time when she's running aorund too much or forgets her image. she pouts about it but listens. she knows he means well. 
dreamies //  8/10  she's pretty close in age with this branch of the idiot squad and trained with them a lot alongside mark. they are all terrible toddlers and shouldn't be allowed in the same room together. pure evil incarnate 10/10, danger for everyone. 
 

personality

loud || hardworking || outgoing || playful || flirty || did i mention loud?

lucas is loud, and likes to make it known that he is in the room. he's got the heart and roar of a lion and while he may come across as a bit flirty, is actually a pretty good guy. he has a lot of youth in him, just now turning 20, and it shows in how he carries him. he likes working out, he likes girls and he likes performing. he's a simple man, despite making some pretty complex noises or questionable faces at times. he means well and is seretly a soft serve. he isn't afraid to cry, but he might deny it when getting picked on about it. 

love story

jiwoo knows he's wa out of her league. she isn't a visual and he is, she isn't as talented as he is, and most importantly, she's pretty sure he has her in the dreaded "one fo the guys" zone. in the realm of "them" goes, it's pretty one sided. she doesn't quite know how to deal with her crush on him, and usually ends up just trying to out "lucas" him. it's just like that song in "Annie Get Your Gun" about how she can do anything better than he can.

she wants so badly to be confident enough in herself to go up to him and say "hey! i like you!" but she knows, or at least thinks she knows, exactly what would happen, and that depresses her. she hates that she's one of the guys, but also loves that she can pal around with them and even boss them around. she wants to embrace being more girly and feminine, like the group image would have it, but she also struggles with letting go of her more wild, playful side. 

there isn't much in a way of a love story between the two, besides her turning bright red at even the beginning of someone suggesting that all her one upping him is her way of flirting, so the two don't really develop much at first. 

by all means, she wants to hold his hand and be the girl on his arm, but first she wants to be more confident in herself. she likes to hang around the older girls, for this reason, hoping to pick up some sort of inspiration to be more mature and confident in her looks. while they would rather her be happy that she's cute and has a playful image, naturally she wants to play dress up in her older sisters clothes. 

she goes through a phase of trying to force herself to be more feminine and demure, something that becomes off putting to her friends. she refuses to go run around playing soccer/football with them anymore and even started wearing dresses on her off days. it's all very confusing, for her and everyone around her. ironically, in this attempt to please the notion she thinks he would have of how she should act, he grows more distant. he loved how much fun it was to try and out do each other but now, she's so stuffy. 

knowing that she's kicking her own , she finally gives up and slowly embraces herself more. she realizes that she needs to work on herself first, before boys, putting her feelings for him on the back burner. 

which is where she is for most of 2019/2020. she uses her feelings for him moreso to remind herself that she needs to love herself, more so than to think of him romantically. she would be more herself by then, back to horsing around with the guys and younger girls. she wouldn't want to really tell him or anything, but she would still probably turn red if he flirted with her jokingly or someone made a comment.
