don't let her looks fools you! although lian is pretty much giving the calm and reserved vibes, she is actually nothing like that at all. you could say that lian is a troll goofball. to say the least, lian is pretty outgoing. she loves people! people are cool. making friends is great. that being said, lian always has a hard time saying no to people asking favors to her. like that one time she ended up forming a study group for some classmates who has problem in understanding some projects. hina always refer to her as the mom friend, that one friend took care of your mess and you listen to them more than your own mom.

aside from that, lian is also a passionate individual, she puts a lot of effort in everything she does and is not the type to give up very easily. she's willing to lose sleep for the sake of a project. though lian seems to be the happy go lucky type, she’s actually very sensitive. she cries a lot, over the smallest thing, like watching movies and being criticize. criticsm somehow make her feel worthless. and the goals she set for herself are actually a big burden, though she tried to play it cool, she got stressed a lot because of her own idealistic and her failures.

when those sensitive times comes, lian can be a bit obnoxious to talk to. but most of the time, those times didn't last very long. 

BACKGROUND lian was born in luohu, a district in shenzen, but they had to flew to california in order for lian's mother to continue her studies. most of her family has jobs related to education, her mother is a high school teacher and her father is a lecturer.

mr. chen is pretty strict when it comes to education, if lian ever gets anything other than A then she has to prepare her poor ears for a three hours lecture. meanwhile mrs. chen doesn't really mind as long as their only daughter grew up happily. there's one accident back then after hina-chan (her best friend) introduced her to the world of fangirls during their middle school year, the both of them ended up getting bullied. when that happened, lian's grades dropped from too much fangirling, and her father got really mad. lian is pretty much stressed from both the bullies and her father's pressure. she ended up being sick for two weeks straight.

after the little drama, her relationship with her father is not too delightful to see. especially when lian started to take a special interest in sports. she did any kind of sports (from badminton, soccer, and now volley) and doesn't really pay attention to her grades but now that she's in senior year her father is back as controlling as ever.
