“THE OUTSIDER, LEE HYOJU”

APPEARANCE.   perhaps it's due to her athleticness that she is blessed with such long legs and a slim figure. to make herself presentable, hyoju tries to wear make up everyday and use different hair accesories for her hair. however, when's playing she just puts her hair in a high ponytail and sometimes she also wears a headband.

STYLE.  despite wanting to fit in with the rich kids, there are still parts of her that hyoju couldn't change. one of which is her sense of fashion. while her rich posh counterparts prefers to be dressed up in designer brands such as chanel and ysl, lee hyoju has a more simple yet bolder approach when it comes to fashion. you could describe it as in between of casual and grunge style. 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7

during the summer before the start of this term, something happened to hyoju's family that will change their lives forever (more of that later). still, despite all that, the youngest of the lee siblings showed no negative feelings nor complained about anything. if not, this just made her stronger, willing to do some sacrifices for her family. being her usual cheerful self, she's the one who brights up the room wherever she goes. she is also quite skillful, being good in whatever she does in everything except for, perhaps and ironically, studying.

despite her not knowing or not admitting it, she is actually quite envious of the students around her as they were mostly born with a silver spoon, something her family was not. because of this, she is constantly fawning over her rich friends, hoping that they would never suspect her family background and that they'll always accept her in their social circle. she could also come off as insincere as she pretends to be someone who she isn't even though it isn't her intention to.

BACKGROUND.  

the rise

the patriarch of the family is lee chunsoo, an ambitious man from daejun. ever since he was young, chunsoo had always had these crazy ideas on his head thinking that he could change his family's humble background. he wasn't wrong with that. but before he could even achieve the change he craves, he had to convince his parents to allow him to study in yonsei university in the capital.

there he meets his future wife park jiyoung, a woman from a conservative middle class family. to impress her and most importantly her parents, chunsoo started to open businesses after business like cosmetics, online shops, gaming apps - most of which failed. still he managed to get the girl of his dreams, and still continued doing what he wanted, which is opening businesses and hoping it'd be successful someday.

but it wasn't until his youngest lee hyoju was already born when his fried chicken food chain started to come out of people's mouth, hence why she is the clover or the lucky charm of her family, as her father would say. by the age of twelve, their food chain has over a hundred branches all over the country, and by that time, lee chunsoo can finally say that he had change his family's path, even to the extent of enrolling his first and second born to the oh so prestigious jeguk academy
 

& the fall

but luck wasn't always on his side. it took him only six years to enjoy his newly found fortune before his business partner runs off somewhere taking all of their money after a food poisoning scandal, leaving the family in bankruptcy. so cliché, i know. now being pursued by his debts, chunsoo also runs off to japan in hiding. at least there, he could live a lowkey life and actually work to help his family unlike in korea.

while the cheerful and positive type of person, hyoju was understandably shocked by what happened. she had been growing up watching her family's business grow and by just a blink of the eye one summer, it all went crashing down. thank goodness all her rich, posh friends from jeguk academy knows is that her family owns restaurants cause a deep fried chicken is something these kids will never be interested in. because if they did know exactly the brand and kind of restaurant her family manages, she'd be in deep .

despite all this, hyoju continues to be her normal cheery self, often giving positive vibes to her family, even offering to have a part time job herself whenever she could go out of the academy. however, in fear of being shun off the rich kids, hyoju pretends like nothing has happened and tries her best to hide what happened to her family. luckily for her, her parents have paid for her tuition before this happened, which meant she could still go to her school without worrying for the pay. after all, being in jeguk is everything to her.

with a five year difference, hyoyeon and hyoju are almost fighting everyday until the family went bankrupt. hyohyeon was, and still is, annoyed by this fact, but she was also the first one in her family to take a step as her mother was too shaken by what had happened. she is currently studing in yonsei and is also working part time near the university. she was also an alumnus of jeguk, even becoming the president in her senior year.

the middle child of the family, people would often forget that hyoseok exists, literally. he is very quiet, especially outside his family. perhaps it's only hyoju who can actually make him talk, being the closest to her in the family. he is the type to only look and judge whenever her sisters are fighting. he had decided not to go to university and become a professional gamer, much to the disappointment of his parents.

gayeon is everything hyoju wants to be - smart, elegant, and most importantly, rich. though she tries to be like her secretly, gayeon is very well aware of her intentions, especially whenever she's fawning over her. the latter doesn't mind very much. after all, it's not the first time somebody tried to be like her.

the friendly captain of the boys' football team is close to everyone including hyoju. perhaps it's their mutual adoration of korean captain son heungmin than they became close so easily. he is the biggest supporter of the female football team, having sisters who play football as well.

since she's not very good with studying, hyoju goes to eul whenever she needs help with something concerning any of their subjects. usually she'd come up to her with a cup of coffee, or with hyoju doing aegyo, which secretly disgusts her. eul is perhaps one of the few people who knows about hyoju's family's situation.

hyoju loves hee. aside from her adorable height which causes amusement to her, hee is such a chatterbox that she proclaims her as her ear since she always gets the gossips from her with hee even knowing. without her she wouldn't have had much success in the newspaper. hyoju doesn't mind appearing in her vlogs and even plays along with her.

no matter what sports he plays, whether it's swimming, fencing, tennis - jinhwan excels in all of it. not surprising considering his mother was once a gold medalist in the olympics. however, having been in love with football since he was young, he chose to play at the school's football team, much to the dismay of the basketball and the netball team. he is also loved by everyone off-pitch, being the charismatic guy that he is. though he isn't like what he seems, jinhwan is actually very sweet and caring to the people he's close with.

however, no matter how well known his family is, jinhwan is perhaps the most private one in his clan. he is very popular but prefers to be with a smaller group of friends. he doesn't like it when he or his family is being talked about nor does he talk about his family a lot. he wouldn't talk just so easily to anyone, which is why he comes off as cold to people.

basically he's a tsundere lol.

BACKGROUND.  

born to a family of five, jung jinhwan is the second son of a business tycoon and a former golden medalist gymnast. some say that he was blessed to be the second born as he doesn't need to bare the stress most first borns have for being the inheritors for their family's fortune just like his older brother. however, jinhwan has to disagree.

you see, jinhwan is not interested in studying political science, medicine or finance like most of his peers are. in fact, he just wants to be a normal webtoon artist, having a secret but big talent in drawing. but knowing his father, he is sure that his old man wouldn't let any of his children have such a ty job that couldn't even give him half the salary his father gets. the fact that he's not even close with his father whom he rarely sees in their three story mansion doesn't help either.

 in jeguk, he is very well loved and is seen as a mysterious heartbreaker as he often doesn't talk to others apart from his close friends and teammates when in fact, he is just afraid of opening up to people due to his secret admiration for anime and mangas - something that is frowned upon in korea. still, he is looked up to by both girls and boys despite his cold image.

LOVE STORY.   

the first time jinhwan saw hyoju was at their football scouting at their freshman year. the boys have just finished with theirs, and he and some of his friends decided to stay for a bit to watch the girls and their try out. this tall girl catches his eye. she scored a really, really nice free kick that even his cristiano ronaldo would shake if he saw it. he thinks her last name is lee, as it was written at the back of his shirt.

on late october, he finally learns that her full name is lee hyoju. they were at the school's halloween party, he was dressed as iron man, she was sailor moon. not so coincidentally, he had a stupid crush on usagi tsukino. he knew that night that he might have a little crush on the fellow footballer as well, but jinhwan, being jinhwan just pushed these feelings aside. after all, she was a nouveau riche. and people of newly found money were people he didn't want to be around.

they never really talked, unlike taejoon who was so close with the star of the female team. it wasn't until the start of their senior year when they finally had a proper conversation that didn't consist of 'good morning', 'thank you' or 'goodbye'.

 jinhwan could easy read his favourite mangas online, but he also likes to collect them. so when the latest volume of kuroko no basket came out, he went to his favourite store late at night to buy it, knowing that there wouldn't be a lot of people, and most importantly, nobody from his school would see him in the street. but fate was not on his side that night. just before he pays for his mangas, he turns around only to see miss sailor moon herself.

petrified, jinhwan didn't know what to do and neither did she-. he froze for about ten seconds, before dragging hyoju out of the store. her first words were about how she's going to put this juicy information about the ace being an actual anime nerd on the school newspaper. he points out that he could also tell everyone about her being the same thing, but she was pretty sure that everybody already knows about that. hyoju was feeling confident about it, when he stops talking to look at her from head to toe, realizing that she was working in the shop as she was wearing the uniform. suddenly she felt some what and ashamed that she had to run back inside.

the next day at school, jinhwan kept chasing hyoju around the school, confusing the whole student body. it was almost impossible that they'd stop as both were very fast runners. it wasn't until he hides behind the lockers when he sucessfully got a grip on her. seeing that jinhwan was holding her wrist, and how loud she was screaming, gossips started to swirl around that something was up. when in fact it was just hyoju who wanted to avoid jinhwan as she knows that he probably connected the dots that her family has become poorer than before hence she's working part time and jinhwan who just wanted to talk to hyoju about last night. he suggested that they keep each other's secrets so it's a win-win situation. they agreed, but hyoju is always wary of jinhwan.

in the end, the two end up spending a lot of time with each other and after years of avoiding his feelings, jinhwan actually realizes that what he feels for hyoju is more than a crush as they both have a lot of similarities. and it isn't just jinhwan who realizes this, basically everyone but hyoju herself realizes the way the mysterious prince looks at the girl or the way he laughs with her. it was especially shocking that he smiles whenever he's with her. after all, he only smiles whenever he's on pitch.

CLUBS.  hyoju is a member of two clubs. first, she plays as the forward in jeguk lions. she is a key player in the team, being one of the top scorers and is also very accurate when it comes to passing the ball. due to her commitment with the football team, she decided to join jeguk weekly instead of the literature club, which was her first choice of club to join. there, she has a small but impactful role of writing the gossips in the newspaper. though she signs as 'clover', everybody knows it's her as she often talks about the gossips she's about to write.
 

LAST WORDS.   at first i wanted to do a character like kang yeseo from sky castle, but idk which faceclaim to use so in the end i just took inspiration from oto edogawa from hana nochi hare. i am really, really sorry bc it's so late, but i hope you like her!!!
