APPEARANCE.   gayeon takes after her father who is a very tall man. of course, she isn't as tall as him, but she does tower some of her female classmates. she has long black hair that she slightly curls in the mornings. she also wears minimal makeup to make herself presentable. she has a slight darker complexion especially now that summer has just ended as she has been spending her holidays in the sunny southern france.

ever since she was young, one of the characteristics that gayeon is known for is her confidence. though youngest in the room, she would confidently strut to people older than her to impresses them whenever her father throws these extravagant parties of his. she is also full of charm and is a delight to talk to as people would say. she has an extensive vocabulary, having travelled and met a lot of people in her life. she may not be the smartest in class, but gayeon is quite good at languages as she is fluent in four - korean, english, mandarin and japanese. being the sole heiress of the family's company, her father made her learn these languages so it'd be easier for her in the future.


the word 'humble' isn't exactly on gayeon's dictionary. she is extremely proud, not only of herself but the achievements of her family and her friends as well. she confidently flaunts designer brands in jeguk's hallways and gets away with it. she doesn't care nor does she worry about she spends on her belongings knowing that her bank account is fully loaded anyways. due to her father's absence, she tends to be quite possessive of him and craves attention from him whenever he's home.



BACKGROUND.  

hwang gayeon was born on the 23rd of october to hwang ilsook, the (then) heir to an airline company, and shin nara, a biology graduate. the two met at seoul national university and fell in love quickly. after they graduated, they decided to get married shortly after. but ilsook's lifestyle was getting too much for nara. it was completely different from hers as she just came from a normal working class family. it took her 4 years for her to finally leave her new family behind, running off with a man that has a similar background as her. the fact that ilsook has quite a playboy personality doesn't make it hard for her to do so.

though he takes the blame for what happened, ilsook was still devastated. the timing of it was the worst, as it was when he had finally inherited his father's company at that time. it is when he's working when he forgets about everything causing him to become workaholic. still, he never forgot to spend some time with his young daughter like most ceos would. whether its him going back home so he could read her favourite bedtime story or him cancelling his schedules on sundays so they could fly to kyoto so they could have some sushi. his princess as he would call her, ilsook gave everything to gayeon - dolls, clothes, every private lessons of anything that could help her when she grows up. this was his own way of protecting her. gayeon was ilsook's pride.

as she grow older, the more her father got busier, much to her dismay. to make it worse, she got aware of her father's relationships with different women. it annoyed her of course, but she realized he was quick to dump them as often as she gets something new from him. she has since then stopped caring about who he dates or what he does, as long as he still had time with her. that was until he expressed his desire to marry his girlfriend, a chinese designer name sun mei whom he met in new york city.

outraged, she was quick to say that she's not happy with the thought of his father getting married again. in fact, she vowed that she will do everything to make it not happen. her father was the only one that she has. he's already very busy. if he was to start a new family again, gayeon's afraid that he'll have no time for her at all. that, and she may have the hots for sun mei's son, but more of that later.

who said a boy and a girl could never be friends? the relationship between jitae and gayeon proves it otherwise. they have known each other since they attended kindergarten together and have been inseparable ever since. jitae is the brother gayeon wishes she had.

the thing with rich kids is they know each other through their families. that's the case with gayeon and eunjin. their fathers are quite close and they've always known each other, but it is only when they started attending jeguk, when they actually became close. gayeon considers eunjin as the closest to her, if you don't count jitae.

choi hyesun / student / cousin / luda of wjsn
hyesun is a cousin of gayeon who is a year older than her. due to this, it wasn't very difficult for them to become close. despite her innocent looks, it is hyesun who taught her how to drink. she even taught her how to smoke but gayeon couldn't stand the smell of cigarettes. ever since they were young, they would always travel together with their nannies tagging along. hyesun was a jeguk alumni, but is now studying in seoul national university.

xinyi is the exact opposite of gayeon. while she's calm and known for her elegance, xinyi is loud and playful. he is always looking for fun in everything and anything. he doesn't care about the wealth that he acquires, he just does whatever's fun for him, which is one of the reasons why he has a lot of friends and could adjust easily whenever he is. he's very energetic and doesn't get tired easily. he is also quite witty as he could think of jokes quickly.

perhaps it's because of his energetic personality that he comes off careless when it comes to his words. he is not afraid to say whatever that's in his mind, as long as he knows he's right, he will not hesitate to speak it. one of these things is his looks. he knows he's good-looking so he often brags about his looks no matter who he is with. he also tends to do whatever he wants, not caring what the other want.


BACKGROUND.  
feng xinyi was born in shanghai to young couple actor feng jian and fashion designer sun mei. just like any other famous parents, the two barely had time for their son. unfortunately for jian, he wouldn't have any time to spend with his only born just like he thought he would as he met his untimely death in a car accident when xinyi was just 3. devastated, sun mei found comfort in making herself busy with work.

it wasn't because she didn't want to take care of her son that she sends him off in a boarding school in england. she was busy with fashion shows around the world and she just wanted the best for him. she knew she couldn't leave him in shanghai to study there. because of this, xinyi learned how to travel at quite the young age. he would often travel from london to shanghai, tokyo, paris, milan or new york just to see his mother. though sun mei did visit him as well.

due to his mother's young age when she had him, xinyi and mei actually have a close relationship despite spending most of their times apart. in fact, they are often mistaken as siblings instead of mother-son. she babies him a lot, and even though he doesn't admit it when she's around, xinyi loves his mother dearly and respects her for being so hardworking.

still, xinyi was not pleased after hearing that his mother is engaged, let alone to a man she has only been dating for months. mei has always said that she wanted to start a family just how she wanted to did it before with her late husband, but jie doesn't really think that their marriage could work and seeing his mother heartbroken is the last thing that he wants.

to think that sun mei actually wants to settle down in seoul and retire so young is ridiculous to his son. hell, she even wants to enroll xinyi in the same school as gayeon, but not only is he not even fluent in korean despite his mother making him study, he is also very tired of being in a boarding school. he's is enrolled in an international school in seoul instead.


LOVE STORY.   

the first time gayeon and xinyi met was in a restaurant in the savoy hotel in london where she was staying. it was the summer after her junior year, and as per usual she was spending her holidays in cannes when she was told to fly to london to see her father. excited, she does exactly what she was told to but was disappointed upon seeing that sun mei was also there.

however, she was surprised to see someone the same age as her during her father's lunch date. that someone who seemed equally pissed as her was surprisingly her son who introduces himself as at that moment, they already knew that both of them were against the marriage.spencer which promts her to introduce herself as georgina. while the adults were talking about their future wedding, xinyi expresses how idiotic everything that there were talking about was in mandarin, not knowing that gayeon could fully understand. not saying loud enough for sun mei to hear, she agrees in the same language causing xinyi to be shocked. 

xinyi invites to tour gayeon around london in front of their parents, and she accepts the invitation as if she has never been there before. she only did because she wanted to tell him her desires of breaking up their parents' engagement, and perhaps she just wanted to hear more of his british accent. xinyi was unsurprisingly down with it, with him even asking for her number so they could plan it together as she's going back to southern france after that.

days after coming back to southern france, gayeon was surprised upon suddenly seeing xinyi's face when she was sunbathing with a look of mischief ln his face. apparently, their parents are coming to spend a week or two in the same roof as they continue planning and xinyi just wanted to hang out with gayeon before they come. It is where gayeon introduce her friends to him, as they often pass in the hwang familys villa before heading off to their own holidays. in just a short time, the two got closer faster than expected with them developing a flirty, feisty relationship. think of rachel and youngdo in the heirs.

gayeon was happy to spend time with her father alone but on the other hand, she had wished xinyi stayed a bit longer. thankfully they often talk through messages and video calls both in english and mandarin. what they talk didn't talk about is the fact that xinyi has actually transferred to a school in seoul. much more when she found out that he and his mother are staying in the city as she prepares for the wedding. because of this (somewhat) good news, the two decided to meet up on the weekends gayeon can go out with the goal of preventing their parents' upcoming wedding and for gayeon to also teach xinyi korean. however, they always tend to forget about all that when they're together.
