stranger  the girl across the room is pretty, the kind that deserves to be on a magazine or movie - a doll. you spot a handsome male approach her, silver words rolling off of his tongue. although you're impressed, it's hard to describe her expression as anything but. then her reply, words with edges sharper than knives, and wow. harsh, undoubtedly, but the male backs off immediately after, spouting crass profanities at her. she turns back to her book unphased. when her friend comes back, a donut in each hand, the girl smiles and that was. different; beautiful, you think, but an intrusion, seeing something private for her friend alone.

classmate  gen is a sort of a mystery that your mind continues to return to. she mostly keeps to herself and seems to be rather content that way but subtly maneuvers herself to always be with venus. she always seems to go with the flow, taking in the random twists and turns life (and other people) throw at her with the same expression she does the common things like homework and confessions. she never outright complains about anything yet when she does (and it's obvious when because there's a reason she's known as "the savage" around campus), that's when people know to back off because if even genesia is against it-

friend  there's something to be said for the blessing that gen is in your life. she's a series of contradictions - observant even if she doesn't want to be (surprise parties are never a go), organized to the extreme (and the inability to find anything outside of its proper place), and quiet in a way that transcends awkwardness - but she never loses her head and seems to always keep you firmly on your feet rather than tumbling with the punches life throws. it also doesn't hurt that she has a wide variety of talents for whenever you need a hand. it's almost unbelievable that you've gotten this close to her, but no one, you think, will ever beat venus.

venus  gen like this, you think, is all yours. they don't see past the obvious and miss her sweet but awkward self, the way she's been pushed into the wintery mold. sometimes you look at her and think gen could have been something else - someone more - if not for the way she was treated growing up and how it shaped her public persona. their loss, you think viciously as she laughs, skin pleasantly cool against yours as the movie plays; they had a chance to look past her pretty face, but they've lost their chance, and she's yours now. as her fingers absent-mindedly trace circles on your palm, you think she wouldn't mind anyways.

tl;dr  cold and vicious to those who just look at her face but a good, reliable friend to those who truly see her self, but potentially more to her best friend venus. sweet spring disguised as frosted winter. the princess against venus's queen and ice with venus's fire. someone who wants to fade to the background (or at least live a normal life) but is too often pulled to the limelight by her looks. tends to go with the flow but will stop just before the waterfall. not necessarily a girl next door type but sweet at the core. a slytherin through and through (venus is "hers" as she is venus's) who hides her poisonous fangs until the jugular is exposed.

background  was raised more by her uncle rossi - lived two streets down and used to be in the police force but now was a mystery author - who was on book tours for months at a time than her own parents who focused on their careers and money. due to constant harrassment from people at school and on the streets for her looks - including two almost-kidnappings, a flasher, and several erts - taught herself to barely react and be vicious if she did, building herself an ice shell from when she was young because she was a scared kid without steady, reliable adult figures to rely on. even took self-defense lessons once she hit middle school.

b. part 02  met venus at elysia high. had to do a group project together first year. as they spent time together, found venus to be a breath of fresh air who understood her struggles to an extent and was...different from everyone else. over time and continual friendship, allowed her ice to melt for venus. got a job at ice dream by accident through helping venus whenever the shop was short-handed, getting paid, and somehow turning official. eventually moved into her uncle rossi's house towards the end of high school against her parents' wishes. was accepted into haven uni, which her parents, her, and her uncle are splitting costs four-way. 

lifestyle  in haven uni, currently finishing a business and economics double major with an applied mathematics minor - currently has a magical 4.0 gpa. has her classes stacked on monday, wednesday, friday and does homework those nights. works at ice dream almost all tuesday, thursday. spends most of her free time and weekend with venus or at home or with venus at home. occasionally sees her uncle rossi for a few months then lives by herself for another few months. takes care of the chores by herself at home. has a weekly video call with her parents but half the time is cancelled because her parents' work (surgeon + lawyer).

a figure of admiration for some but to her, simply her uncle rossi, he's a legend in the local police department for his work. he loves her, really, but has a hard time relating to someone with such a different experience growing up. they connect best when talking about his books or other mystery-related things like marathoning mystery movies. he's the reason she actually knows most of the police force because they practically bent over backwards whenever he brought her in after an incident growing up. although he's gone half of the time, he always brings a souvenir. she has a whole case in her room displaying the trinkets she's collected.

closer than family, venus knows the true face of genesia best. they're often found together or, if not, know where the other is. they never tire of each other's presence and, despite their differences, definitely care for each other. people often notice how gen never is the target of venus's anger and how venus is never the target of gen's vicious tongue. in contrast to the unvoiced questions of how they get along in public - anger + savagery = ??? - in private, they seem to soften around each other and act as the college girls they are. sometimes, gen does something that seems almost romantic, bu she never presses for more. does venus see more?

the newest worker at ice dream, gen doesn't treat claire that much differently from how she treats her other friends - politely and with clear boundaries but also a kindness that's freely offered - but also double-checks on the girl and seems slightly softer around her than other friends. (this, of course, is totally not at all related to venus's motherly tendencies towards the young girl.) gen doesn't really question why claire is the way she is and patiently answers any questions brough her way. the only times gen doesn't like claire is when claire joins plans priorly for gen and venus alone. (gen then scolds herself for wanting to monopolize venus.)

stuff gen says  being insulted implies i care about your opinion. want to watch this movie with me, eve? you would struggle to pour water out of a boot with instructions on the heel. claire, i think you mean "a lovely day." jealousy is only acceptable from clueless toddlers. welcome back, uncle rossi. how did the tour go? i've seen beasts with better self-control.
