— "..." The first and foremost layer you will see when you get to know Kanon is her shy and reserved side. Striking a conversation and bonding with total stranger isn't really her forte. She always feel awkward, not knowing what to say and feeling super self-conscious of herself. When she's in a new situation, she prefers sitting back and stay quiet until somebody else approach her. She also has a hard time making friends and connecting with people because she relies a lot on her gut. If she sees you and has this uncomfortable, tight feeling, she'll know that you two can not be close friends. Her circle of close friends is very little.

— "Wow, this is fascinating!" Kanon is a girl who's eager to learn. Well, not exactly eager to learn ALL subjects (she despises math, chemistry and physics with passion) but when it comes to thing she loves and have interest in, such as art (be it fine arts, digital, performance, ANYTHING), culture, history, religion, biology, or related, she'd devour them all.

— "Hi, how are you? Do you need help with that?" Once you get past her shy exterior, Kanon can be a kind and friendly girl. She wants to make sure that everyone feels good or, at least, fine and not bored or pissed. She's also eager to help and make sure that whatever problem you're dealing with is completely solved-or if it can't be solved easily, she'll go through lengths to let you know that she's there and will always ready to lend a shoulder. Also, she greets people she knows a lot, from shy smiles for acquaintances to wide grin for people she knows well, be it staffs or even sunbaes!

— "Why the you lyin? Why you always lyin?" Kanon breathes meme. Meme is the reason to live. Meme is her religion, her cult, her way of life and the core of her parched soul. She's a very comical and goofy person once you get to know her, her taste ranging from memes (all sorts of meme, even dank ones, her humor is super shallow), puns, sarcasm, self-deprecating jokes and even dirty jokes. She follows vines like it's a god. But to be quite honest her jokes can be very inappropriate at times thus why her leader always makes sure Kanon won't spill any of those when they're on cameras. Kanon also loves letting out weird noises, from letting out animalistic whimper (that sounds like a dying deer) to weird wailings, incoherent babbles and even sometimes . Aside that, she often does weird gestures and stunts that'll make you laugh or judge her, to be quite honest.

— "Here, have mine, you don't have to pay it back." She's not very rich but Kanon always tries to be generous when she can, she'll let you have some of her food if you're hungry or simply just want a bite, she'll lend you her money and don't expect you to return it. She also loves to treat her friends when she can, paying for your lunch or simply buying your favorite snack or drink when she's in the convenient store. 

— "Sorry I've just been thinking about the concept of forever and how illogical it is sometimes." Despite whatever mayhem and stupidity she caused, Kanon is someone who thinks a lot. She daydreams and wonders about almost everything. Her mind is always busy with bursts of ideas, reflections, wonderings, questions and more!  Even though she can be oblivious at times, she can be observant enough when she tries and she often think back to her experiences both good or bad and assess it or assess her surroundings, finding what's interesting or what's wrong with it. Once she couldn't sleep wondering about the concept of forever because what would forever be like? Can you imagine? She's also very open-minded and loves to discuss lots of things and educate herself on social problems.

— "Well, if you ask me, I think that man is no good." She's a very honest person. What you ask is what you get, she hardly ever sugarcoat things. Despite her shy exterior, Kanon always tries to speak her mind and be honest. If you want a really, really honest opinion, she's the person to go. However, she can be brutally honest at times and not really aware of her word choices and the weight of it, thus why her words can be biting and comes off as rude. She's blunt and straight-forward but if you call her out on it, she'll apologize.

— "I didn't realize it!" Kanon can also be very oblivious and dense sometimes. She believes that everyone is good, so it makes trust people too easily. She's the worst when it comes to spotting  bad people on first sight, desipte her ability to spot which people she can be comfortable with and which people she can't. She's also very dense when it comes to love. Kanon has never been in a relationship before so she really, really have no idea how it works. If you ask her to hang out, she'll mostly say yes but be prepared to be disappointed when she doesn't think it as a date.

— "I need some time... I can't control my emotions." Her emotions easily gets the best of her, particularly sadness and anger. For goodness' sake she cried when watching wall-e and mr. bean's holiday even though you and i both know there's nothing sad there. Kanon is also temperamental, it's easy to piss her off and when she does get angry (and especially when it's that time of the month) it can be really hard controlling it, even Kanon herself has troubles controlling her anger. It's quite weird to be honest because it's like the only way she can express her feelings are through anger and tears and for new people, she can be quite the puzzle.

— "Sorry, my head is messing me up." Aside from having trouble with her emotions, Kanon is actually insecure deep down and overthinks a lot. She's been battling with the concept of embracing herself for a long time and even though there are good days, there are also days where she felt like , she felt like she's the worst and smaller than everyone else around her.  She also overthinks so much when she's down so leaving Kanon alone with her thoughts when she's sad is not really a good idea.

— Fujiwara Kanon is born on December 19th 1997 in Tokyo, Japan. Her family is small, consisting of a father, Fujiwara Hiroshi, mother, Satou Emi, an older sister, Mikoto, and older brother, Haru. Hiroshi is a freelance photographer while Emi is a journalist. 

Her father loved art so he introduced his children to art ever since they're young. It's probably around the age where she first held a pencil that Kanon loved to scribble and Hiroshi encouraged it, and enrolled her to art classes. Then, when she's 4, her parents enrolled her to music classes and continued on until she grew up. Kanon especially loves singing, piano and violin. 

Her family then moved to Fairfax, ia when she's 8 years old due to her mother's job. It was very hard because her english was very limited and soon, she got ostarcized by her friends. She became the target of bully, kids calling her name and laughing while she didn't understand a thing they said and school was difficult. When she's in the 5th grade her homeroom teacher took pity on her and taught her english, which she soon mastered. Still, that didn't mean her 'friends' stopped picking on her. This had probably been what shaped her insecure trait. Despite this, the only time where Kanon really shone was during art and music class, where she's able to shut the bullies with her skills. 

Still, sometimes children are capable of doing such terrible things that it terrifies you. One time, she got casted for a musical drama in her school's talent show. She got the chance to sing so Kanon was very excited but nervous at the same time. She practised hard, memorizing the scripts and practising her singing. However, the kids pranked her by lying to her that the script was changed around half an hour before the performance. They gave her fake scripts and she, stupidly, memorised it and recited it on her performance, earning questioning glances, laughs and even scolding from her art teacher. In a way, this fueled her stage fright.

Along those years, her family were quite active on the local church and the choirs. Sometime around her stay, she befrieded a Korean kid named Kim Jiwon who's two years older than her. Both of them are quite active in the church choir and they became best friends, but then he moved to Korea.

Around 2008ish she took interest in korean pop, especially Boa and having been passionate in art, especially performance art, since little, soon got bewitched by her and dreamed to be an idol as well. She began studying basic Korean and memorising the vocabs. She was really obsessed with being an idol back then and even told her parents- who brused it for a couple of times because why the would you be an idol? But Kanon was very peristent and continues to beg for a whole year until in 2009, her parents finally gave her their blessings.

In 2010, her family went on a vacation to Korea so she could audition in SM, she then got accepted through the Saturday open audition.

— chocolate. she loves sweets in general but is hella weak when it comes to chocolate. 
— art. it's one of the few constant things in her life that doesn't change despite anything. It's her passion.
— memes. all of them, from the early 9gag era meme, to vines, to dank memes, and even more. It's her core of her being.
— hot water bath. the best way to de-stress. She loves to soak in the bath-tub and letting all the exhaust from the day to dissolve. If it's morning, the heat will make her body relax and more awake.
— snow. Kanon is born on winter season and she feels a strong attachment to snow and winter.
— animals. especially dogs, but tbh she loves all kinds of animals.
— beach. Kanon loves travelling in general but her number 1 destination would always be the beach.
— astrology. It's real and noone can convince her otherwise.
— ghibli. basically she grew up watching Ghibli movies and loves all of them.
— marvel. a hardcore MCU follower, she didn't read the comic much because it can be super confusing sometimes so she sticks to the cinema. a big lover of captain america and bucky barnes.

dislikes

— spicy food. she has low tolerance towards spicy food, and I mean it. She's weak. 
— sweat. she sweats easily and hates it. Kanon always feel like she's such a mess when she's sweaty.
— crowd. she's not much of a party goer so crowds tend to make her feel anxious, it's different when she's on stage, though!
— veggies. tastes bland and weird and she's always in pain because her diet often consists of vegetables.
— bad odor. whether it's from a trash or a person, she has low tolerance of it.
— slow walker. can't you walk faster??
— coffee. makes her stomach hurt. However, she lately develops tolerance and liking towards latte.
— romance movies. she can't relate to like 95% of them and thinks they're overly dramatic and unrealistic.
— lychee. tastes weird and funky.
— EDMs. some are okay and fun but there are some songs who straightout makes her ears and head hurts.
— lack of sleep. Kanon is a strong believer of 8 hours a day and would be a little stressed out if she doesn't get enough sleep.
 

Hobbies

— singing. it really is a form of expression. She loves going to karaoke to sing her favorite songs. 
— drawing and painting. has been her hobby since she's young. it's somewhat therapeutic. when she's stressed out, she often locks herself in her room or go somewhere calm to paint or draw.
— reading. Kanon reads a lot and she always brings a book or two everywhere she goes. she reads on car or whenever she has time. her favorite authors are J.K. Rowling, Paulo Coelho, Haruki Murakami, C.S. Lewis and Tolkien.
— watch movies. or tv series, she only does this when she really have a spare time because she wants herself to be unbothered and be really absorbed by the film. she loves fantasy, adventure and horror, even though she gets scared in the end.
— games. not much of a gamer but she loves playing sims, pokemon, harvestmoon, legend of zelda and kingdom hearts.
— listening to music. all the damn time. she loves all sorts of genre from pop, to disco, to rock, to synth-pop, to indie, etc. 
— writing. she has a neat journal where she keeps all of her writings there, mostly short story or a poem to express her thoughts and feelings.

— spider. . she'd scream SO LOUD when she sees one and runs away.
— bugs. they're all gross except for butterfly and fireflies.
— ghosts. she loves watching horror but ended up getting paranoid in the end.
— zombies. she doesn't get the zombie hype back then. zombie apocalypse is downright scary and she prays everyday that it wont ever happen in the future.

habits

— drinking mint tea. every night, she'd make them and drink it. 
— humming. when people are telling her story and she listens, she'd often say 'uh-uh' 'ahh' or hum.
— stoic. when angry, she'll often stay quiet. usually, she tends to show her anger but ever since she became a trainee and debuted, she tends to bottle her anger because she can't lash out in front of camera, right?
— biting the insides of her cheeks. when she's very nervous, usually when she's about to perform on stage.
— noises. she makes weird noises a lot, when she's tired, happy, shocked, scared, nervous, sad, she always emits different sounds.

trivia

— what's inside my bag. she always brings her phone (which is an iPhone 6 rosegold with no face casing), portable charger, a book, makeup pouch, perfume and tissue.
— we bare bears. her favorite show. she has a grizz neck pillow which she brings everytime she travels by car or plane, also lots of their plushies her favorite would be ice bear.
— youtube. to pass the time, she'd often watch dog rescue video on youtube (often ended up crying) or watch memes or vines compilation (thank God for vines that keeps me from ending it all).
— my ideal type is. sebastian stan and she'd always answer this when she's asked who her ideal type is.
— voice pollution. she can be really LOUD, aside from making weird noises, she loves to sing around while she's doing something or suddenly yelling or idk man she's just really loud.
— silet laugh. most people have weird laugh but kanon's usually silent with lots of violent body jerkings.
— my hiddent talent. is imitating everyone around her- her leader, her manager, her group's dance instructor. also, she can rap ikon bobby's rap part in bling bling and bday perfectly and she prides herself on that.
— red. is her favorite color and you'd often see her wearing red.
— wandering around. loves to wander around whether it's her neighborhood or a far place or traveling. she loves visiting new places like new restaurant, cafes, bookstores, museum and loves to take pictures of it.
— homebody. but deep down, she's a total homebody who really enjoyes her time curled up in a blanket with a book in her hand or a movie to watch with warm tea to accompany her.
— social media. her social media accounts are instagram (@dopedogechan) and twitter (@clclclclara) all of them locked and private and she follows mostly meme, art and dog accounts, sometimes she used them to creep on fans too.
— museum hogger. she also loves to go to an art museum by herself. it's calm and she just feel really inspired there.

Hiroshi is honestly like one of those dad who's so rich in dad jokes that it pains her. However, Kanon and Hiroshi is very close and he's the first one who agrees to let Kanon became an idol. Until now, they still videocall each other often.

Emi is honestly the person who made Kanon the woman she is now. As a mother, Emi taught Kanon lots of valuable things and is always ready to give Kanon an objective advise. Kanon calls her mother often to tell her worries, oftentimes ended up in laughter because Emi's sarcastic humor always brightened her up.

Mikoto is the kind older sister who always helps Kanon with her problems. She's the first person Kanon told about her dream as an idol and yes, she's skeptical at first but after seeing how driven Kanon is, Mikoto became her supporter. When Kanon is in Japan, they often hang out together, shopping for art supplies or skincare products.

Keiko is Kanon's childhood friends and despite Kanon moving out to America, they're still close. Seulgi is Kanon's first friend in SM and Kanon is always grateful for that because Seulgi is like her 2nd sister. Seulgi's kind heart and strong will always inspire Kanon to do better. Both of them suffered a slump because of their long trainee period but always have each other's back.

 

 

trainee life 8 years is not a short time and it did things to Kanon. In the beginning, the trainee life was a bit hard. Her limited Korean made it hard for her to make friends (fortunately Seulgi came like the God-send gift she is), but she's quick to made name for herself for one of the trainees with the best vocal skills. Gradually, her trainee years got better. Then a year passed, then two, then three and she started to worry. Then, Red Velvet debuted and she got cut out from the lineup and not only that she didn't debut, but her confidante and support, Seulgi, is no longer with her. She went through a slump and it got worse when her parents got fed up and convinced her to go back home and go to college. She fought with them, her confidence sank but she persisted. In the end, all those tears got paid off when she made into the official SMNGG lineup.
