            CHA ARIN.   her "official" korean name that she rarely ever actually uses. its both a shortening of her name and also her using her fiance's surname. it's really only ever used in official documents but most of the time people either call her "cha arinya" or "heart".

NICKNAMES.  

            HEART.   her nickname since she was young, its what basically refer to her as. its actually kinda cheesy to think about, but she is her parents' first born, and she's their pretty daughter so it makes sense that she would be their heart. ignoring almost all romantic potential, her fiance rarely ever calls her "heart". however, the rest of the diamond class loves letting her know how much they need their "heart".
            MRS DIAMOND.   created by jeno after he heard her teasing her fiance for being top of the class by calling him "mr diamond". jeno said that since she was his fiancee and since she was ranked second in the diamond class, it only made sense for her to be his "mrs diamond". if anyone ever wants to tease and embarass heart, or if they just want to see her cringe, they'll call her "mrs diamond" ( bonus points if mr diamond is thrown into the mix too ).

if you were to ask anyone who the most social student at yeong gwang was, people would point to heart chaichanatham without hesitation. there's just this aura to her that draws people in and makes them linger around her. some people say its the warmth and energy in her voice, others say its something else. they say its her hospitality, the way she says your name, the light touches she gives when she talks to you. whatever it is, heart chaichanatham has the ability to make people feel special. and its that ability that makes people want to get on her radar and stick around. she's rarely seen without a person ( or a dozen ) by her side. she's the master of conversation, able to talk her way out of trouble and talk circles around anyone who has made the mistake of trying to argue with her.  you were to ask the people who adore heart why they did so, they would tell you that they see tomorrow in her eyes. her gaze is warm and bright, and that reflects her jolly and optimistic attitude. heart chaichanatham always knows how to bring up the mood of any room. she's the first to comfort someone in her class who is having a bad day, the first to tell her team that losing is just an experience to learn. heart chaichanatham just Knows ™, as she would describe it. she doesn't have to think about things, she doesn't need to rationalize things because she just always kinda knows thanks to a funny feeling in her gut. she's really good at taking in the things around her and reading the air. that's how she knows when she needs to cheer someone up or when someone wants to be alone. it helps her know when to say certain things and when to not.  another reason heart chaichanatham is so admirable to the people around her is because she knows who she is and what she's about and what she's capable of. there is rarely ever a moment heart chaichanatham doubts herself, even when she knows that other people take her confidence as a threat. her orginazational skills are the envy of the diamond class, and is one of the reasons that she's ranked number two. she feels at home when things are neat, and organizes things to soothe her emotions. her journals and planners are her life, and she has the next five years of her life planned down to every minute detail which is why she organizes most school events and any big diamond class hangouts. on top of that, she's dependable and hardworking and someone you can always count on in your time of need. really, from studying to listening to taking care of others, heart chaichanatham is always one of the first people there to offer help.

heart chaichanatham is fiercely protective over people, especially her diamond class peers. if you're being bullied or harrassed, she'll jump to you defense. if you're too scared to check something out, heart will rise up and do it for you. if a strange guy won't leave you alone, heart will make sure you get to where you need to go safely. a girl as friendly as heart often gets accused of being a flirtatious fox, but heart chaichanatham also does literally nothing to hide her flirtatious nature. she will flirt with anything that's alive from guys to girls to people who don't identify on the gender spectrum to animals to plants. she makes a suprising amount of innuendos and handles them with a nonchalantness that catches most people off guard. able to find literally something good and attractive in everyone, heart flirts with people to make them feel good about themselves. and plus, its fun to have that little repertoire. because heart talks to so many people and because so many people like hanging out with heart and telling her the things that trouble them, she is the queen of gossip. you suspect she has a bit of dirt on everyone, and you suspect that you're right. she also has very little problem airing out other people's business for others to enjoy or give their persepctive on.

going along with her love for gossip, heart chaichanatham always needs to be in the know, because Knowing ™ is heart chaichanatham's specialty. even if something doesn't concern her, or the parties involved don't want to give up information to her, she's determined to ferret out secrets even if that means guilt tripping or manipulating people to get her way. she knows exactly how to get people wrapped around her finger, from flirting, to complimenting, to criticism. she always pays attention to peoples words and actions in case she needs to twist them to her advantage. heart chaichanatham, on many occasions has used her words and influence to shift things to her favor. she isn't above faking feelings, ignorance, and forgetfulness, and subtle sabotage is her forte. if you ever need to get back at a , heart chaichanatham is the girl you wanna go to. at her worst, heart can be petty and vexed. when she's in a bad mood, she's known for complaining about trivial things that are legitimate but not really problems as big as she wants. heart isn't comfortable being openly aggressive to get what she wants. you notice she wants her way, but she still wants others to like her, so she often manipulates situations in order to get her way. she often says she agrees with things that she doesn't. a girl who really isn't in touch with her own inner emotions, she's someone whos behavior you need to observe, rather than trusting her word. as a very social person, and as a libra, heart chaichanatham needs other people in her life and needs to be in other people's lives. she loves to be loved so much that if she isn't being loved by people she doesn't really know who she is, not to be cosmic or existential or anything. she'll cling to anyone who even shows her an ounce of genuine affection and she becomes so absorbed in any sort of social contact, especially after moving to korea, that she becomes overly dependent on others and severely idealizes them. also because she's a libra, heart chaichanatham cannot make a decision to save her life. she looks at things too seriously and delves too deeply into each and every pro and con of every choice she makes. even when making simple choices like deciding which lip color goes better with her outfit or which stickers to use in her planner can take upwards of 2+ hours.

while most students feel like they need to choose between study and fun, heart chaichanatham makes studying fun mainly because she wouldn't be able to survive if she didn't. she's a big fan of flashcards and games and coming up with songs and dance routines to help her memorize information. heart loves studying with a group of people because it's better to play a "life and death" review game with ten other people than just by herself. in class is where she struggles the most, because just listening to a teacher lecture or following a powerpoint is super bland. its not a rare sight to see heart copying down all she can furiously in her notebook while also recording audio of the lecture to listen to later so she can figure out any unfamiliar words and also play back certain points.

heart studies for about six to nine hours on week days, and usually five hours on weekends. she doesn't sit down and churn it out all at once but she just studies sporadically throughout the day. she'll study on the car ride to school, study during break or a free period, study during lunch, study while waiting for after school activities, study at her cram school, study on the way back from classes, and study at home. she typically attends cram school for three hours on mondays, wednesdays, and fridays. on the weekends, she has a private tutor who teachers her for about two hours. heart typically studies in the evenings, since that's when she has most of her free time. she likes to get a good two to three hour chunk out of the way before taking a break to shower and eat and even start her night time routine so she can do one last review of her notes before going to bed. heart actually doesn't do much reading ahead because she doesn't want to overload her brain with information that might not even need at the moment.

as a visual learner, heart uses a lot of flowcharts and mindmaps and Aesthetic™ notes to help her retain information. stickers, pastel highlighters in every color, stickers, washi tape, cute fonts and doodles, heart goes the whole nine yards when it comes to her notes. for subjects like social studies, ethics, fine arts, and music, heart draws a lot of pictures and visual representations of the topics. for example, she'll draw the outline of a specific country when they talk about geography or draw a significant artwork by a specific artist. she does a lot of rewriting too, as it's one of the best ways to retain information. she has two journals for every subject, one for ugly in class notes and the other for pretty revised notes that have all the drawings and cute stuff on them.

some other quirky study habits that heart has : her study space in her apartment smells of mint, as it is supposed to help focus the mind. she also writes down how long she studies on a specific subject and the grade of the test she was studying for to sort of keep reference on how long she needs to study for a specific class. after studying a unit, she'll either explain what she just studied to her grandfather or one of her friends. often studies on the floor with everything sprawled out within arms reach.
