to people who don't know jihyun, he can come off as narcissistic and arrogant that seems like he only cares about himself, but once you get to know him he's one of the kindest people you'll ever meet. when it comes to the people he truly loves and cares for, he will do anything to protect them and make sure they're happy. jihyun may seem like a playboy since he always has girls throwing themselves on him, but he can care less about any of them. he knows that they only like him because of his status and not because of who he is as a person, and he hates that. he hates the way people treat him because he comes from royal blood.
jihyun is extremely strong and brave. he struggles a lot because of his family but you wouldn't be able to tell unless you know him extremely well because he is good at concealing his emotions. jihyun hates people who gossip about him and think his life is perfect due to his status. he has been through a lot growing up, and that is one of the reasons he doesn't trust people easily. Jihyun is extremely stubborn. once he has his mind set on something, nothing can stop him. he'll do anything and everything he can to achieve what he wants. he is extremely hardworking, especially when it comes to school which is why his professors are fond of him.
jihyun has always been rebellious since he was younger, especially since he hates his family and there's so many rules he has to abide to coming from royal blood. he hates how the royals treated people like they were inferior to them and belittled them. he believes that everyone deserves to be treated to be treated equally. he is extremely hot-headed and has a hard time controlling his anger, so if someone pisses him off it can get ugly really fast. if there's one thing that jihyun can't stand its someone who picks on someone weaker than them. he also hates fake people more than anything.
Background:
jihyun was born on march 31, 1999 in south korea to prince bang taehyun and his wife bang jihyo. the couple was extremely happy and proud that they gave birth to a son who would be able to pass on their family name and maybe eventually the throne one day. they made sure that they would raise their son to be powerful enough to take over the throne and become king one day since he was the eldest grandchild and was in line for the throne.
growing up, jihyun spent most of his time in the palace. he wasn't allowed outside alone which frustrated him. he didn't have many friends besides his best friends kim namjoon and kim jisoo since his parents were extremely strict and didn't allow him to socialize much with other children. namjoon is jihyun's cousin and the two were raised like brothers, namjoon being the younger one since he was born a year after jihyun was. unlike other moroi kinds jihyun and namjoon were not allowed to go to public school and were forced by their parents who hired a private tutor for them to learn the ways of being a royal vampire and to keep up with their lessons so they could make their family proud and protect their kingdom one day.
jisoo and jihyun met because he was the court wife's son who had been loyal to the royal family for a long time. jihyun and namjoon's parents disapproved of their friendship with the servant boy as they called jisoo, but jihyun and namjoon cared less. jisoo was like a brother to the two of them and they didn't understand why their parents would get angry if they saw them playing with jisoo. since they were forbiddened to hangout with jisoo, jihyun being the rebellious one would always drag namjoon with him and they would sneak out and meet jisoo. when they were with jisoo who would tell them stories about going to school and the world outside the castle and the boys would listen to his stories in amazement and wish that they would be able to do that too. they hated being a royal vampire and being forced to follow all the rules they had to. but most of all they hated being controlled by their parents and not having a free will. they wished that they could be normal kids like jisoo.
when jihyun was 10, his parents appointed jisoo to be jihyun's personal servant/bodyguard since jihyun gave all his other bodyguards trouble and demanded that jisoo be appointed as his personal bodyguard instead. after causing trouble with the other bodyguards for days since he was rebellious, his parents finally gave in and jihyun was thrilled because he would finally have his friend around him 24/7 and no one could say anything. regardless of jisoo's status, jihyun treated jisoo like his brother and respected the other a lot.
when jihyun turned 16 his powers showed up. his parents decided to enroll him in the school because they knew it was the best and decided to send jisoo with him too for protection. jihyun was estatic because he felt suffocated in the castle and was glad he would finally get to see the outside world but he was sad that he was leaving namjoon alone in the castle, but promised he would visit the younger often.
while at school jihyun discovered a lot of things about the royal family and how they treated others. he found out about their relationship with the yingsu council and despised the council and the strigoi. he hated how they looked down on jisoo and would always stand up for his friend. he told namjoon of how they treated the dhampirs and the wolfs and how it disgusted him. a year later namjoon joined the boys at school.
