FASHION & STYLE: If she dresses casual, she likes to wear slim mom jeans with blouses or crop tops and wears hoodies or corduroy jackets when cold. BACKGROUND: Chaeyeon was born in Seoul, South Korea to Jeong Jiwon and Jeong Sihyun. She is a only child, her family is upper middle-class and they moved to Los Angeles, California four years after Chaeyeon was born because her father gained the position of being a CEO of his medical company and was working with another companies in the U.S and her mother opened a chain restaurant in the U.S. As she was living in the U.S, she went to school and had a normal childhood. She did ballet from the age of four to twelve and other exta-curricular activites such as being an girl scout. Chaeyeon was eleven when she found out about the world of K-pop on the internet and became obessesed with music. It made her passion for dancing and singing even stronger and interested in becoming a trainee. At the age of eleven, she asked her parents if she could auditon to become a trainee and her parents agreed as long as she had a back-up plan if she lost interest or felt like she wasn't successful. At first, she auditioned for SM ent and YG ent but didn't get in when she was eleven. She tried again next year when she was 12 and auditioned for Big Hit ent, a smaller company that she hoped to get into and successfully did. Her most wanted choices were SM and YG because her favorites were in those company, she didn't have much interest in JYP and Big Hit was her 3rd choice. She left L.A at twelve to become a trainee for Big Hit company in South Korea, and trained until she was 18 ( 19 in korean age ).

Chaeyeon's parents adopted a black cat for her when she was nine, his name was "Baby" and he is nine years old. She misses her cat and oftens talks about him.
