NATIVE FOREIGNER upon first inspection of sara's name, it seems as though she could be a member of the foreign swaggers. however, sara's a born and raised jeju girl, thus making her a native. despite this, she struggles to speak korean "properly" and is constantly scolded by management for her thick jeju accent. sara earned the native foreigner nickname from the actually foreign sm trainees when she joined them in sm's korean class.

APPEARANCE before lumière's debut, sara had mid-back length hair that had been bleached and toned to a gingery light brown with a middle part ( the first picture ) and a bit of a pudgy body despite having a lot of muscle tone. she also had quite tan skin as she was used to being outside constantly, but that was done away with as best as it could be due to sm's beauty standards.other notable features include a deepset dimple on her left cheek and a slightly deeper skin tone than that of her other members.
STYLE ( her style is featured in the many pictures throughout the application ) sara's style is fairly conservative and leans towards the vintage side. she's a fan of long sleeved and collared shirts, things with ruffles, billowy or flared out sleeves, and anything velvet. she favors skirts over pants or shorts a majority of the time, dance practices being the only exception. during dance practices is the only time she dresses in modern branded clothing and her go to is leggings or track pants and a t-shirt. sara owns only one pair of jeans and tends to only wear them in the winter when it's absolutely unbearable on her legs. as for accessories, berets are a common staple in her closet, and she doesn't normally wear too much jewelry besides the occasional pair of earrings. shoes in her collection tend to have large heels on them as she is on the smaller side of the height spectrum.

off camera sara and on camera sara are nearly the same, with on camera sara being a tad more concious about letting her jeju accent slip through and covering her chest or legs should they be exposed. she wants to be seen as the best version of herself, but still an authentic version of herself. on variety shows and v lives she tends to step back and let the other members speak first, which was something she always did with her siblings. she wants the other members to be able to express themselves before she speaks as she already sings a majority of the song as the main vocalist and is able to convey emotion through her singing. as she is best able to convey emotion through singing, she'll often be caught humming songs that carry the feeling she's trying to convey at the moment if she can't quite express it.
BACKGROUND sara's early days aren't that of your average, everyday child, but if you look close enough at her she was just like any other kid. in sara's famly, they were natural born musicians. by the time you were three you could carry a tune and start to play the guitar. her parents being no exception to this, became the first ones "crazy enough to bring kids on a tour bus" and by age five she was homeschooled and constantly on the road. playing in the grass behind concert venues, chasing her siblings around the small tour bus, and impromptu water fights were fond memories of her younger days. sara also remembers the hard times they went through where they'd have to go a meal or two with just a measley salad, but it was the life her parents wanted to live. by age eleven, she'd go on to sing with her parents on stage every third night, switching between her and her siblings. she was the crowd favorite, drawing in the most attendance and ticket sales whenever she was on stage. her parents used this to their advantage, strategically planning the bigger gigs on days that it'd be sara's turn to sing. when sara was thirteen, they decided to go busking in hongdae while on a family vacation to seoul. as fate would have it, a sm scout happened to be walking through as they started to set up. they were intrigued by the young children, so they hung back. sara's siblings sung first, and while good, their voices couldn't be easily molded into the sm idol style as there was too much of a folksy soul feel to their voices. the sm scout had walked off, but found themselves turning around as sara's clear voice pierced the night air. though they had to use almost all their resources to convince sara's parents, eventually they were able to snag her into the auditions and evenutally into sm entertainment in june of 2012.

sara's the middle kid in her family. she has an older brother named yohan and a younger sister named anna. they call yohan by han after his favorite star wars character.
in sm, her biggest role models are shinee and luna of f(x) as they've been able to shine though there's been times in their respective careers where they weren't outshining every other artist. overall though, her role model is eric mun as she likes to think she could be a leader who puts the best interest of the group first.
though she hated them as a kid, salads are one of sara's favorite meals now. she doesn't mind dieting because it means more salads! her favorite is grilled chicken caesar salad, however she doesn't eat it too often because she knows "it's deceitful" and is the cause for her bloated waistline. her favorite cheat day food is ice cream.

TRAINING LIFE sara was scouted while busking with her family on vacation in hongdae. for the first time in her life, she found that she was with some people who didn't like her, simply because they saw her as competition. sara found these people frustrating above all else, mainly because there was a chance they'd be in a group together, yet they were so rude? out of all the training areas, she found dancing the hardest, as she'd never had to learn any kind of choreography before and was used to hiding behind a guitar or mic stand. eventually, she got the hang of it, but it took someone saying "just think of it like beats in a song" during the third week of her training for her to get how to count when learning choreography.
REACTION TO BOYCOTT sara broke out into a fit of giggles when she first heard about the boycott. "don't you see? in talking about boycotting us, they're giving us more exposure!" she believes that the netizens will come around eventually and tries to see the situation as "all press is good press" and "everything happens for a reason" despite them being thrown under the bus most of the time. she's able to brush it all off her back and encourages the other girls to do so too.

sara and lucas first met in one of sm's korean classes after a quick trip home in june of 2016. she had been allowed to fly back to her home in jeju for a few weeks as her father was undergoing a back surgery and she'd needed to go help take care of him as her mother and siblings were unable to get vacation days from work. as soon as she returned however, many of the staff realised she'd reverted right back into the thick jeju accent she'd come with. they were determined to rid it from her system, and stuck her back into korean classes after two years without them. at first glance she mistook him as taeyong, and rushed to the seat next to him before realising the mistake she'd made. "oh sorry, i thought you were- wait you don't speak korean yet." he stared at her obviously confused, but then she waved and said "hello!" in english, surprising him. "hello! i'm xuxi!!" "my name is sara, i'm from jeju." she broke out into a toothy grin, proud of herself for making a decent sentence in english for once."i'm from china!" they didn't get the chance to talk much longer as the instructor came in, but they did trade funny glances every so often.
