Most of you are aware of what happened in Florida this past Valentines Day.

19 year old Cruz opened fire on Stoneman Douglas High school students and staff, killing 17 people. 

Its sad that it takes such mass casualties for the public to take action and notice of an ongoing issue.

And now that the Florida shooting has happened, survivors and High Schoolers in Ann Arbor, Michigan and all over the world have taken action. Marches are being set up to protest the weak gun laws that our government has failed to even secure. If a mental check had been done on Cruz, it couldve prevented him from legally owning and purchasing a military weapon and potentially could have prevented the massacre, saving those 17 precious lives. What people need to realize is we dont need to build a wall, we need to keep the younger generation(us) our children safe. 

After this horrorific event took place, things have changed in my high school(GLHS).

Friday, Febuary 9th, 2018 a student in my school walked in wearing a trench coat, dark glasses, and a fedora- carrying a breif case. The student- Nick- then sent out texts warning people not to come to school. 

Stupid. 

This boy was arrested and confined- expelled.

Yet, no one did anything further.

Then Valentines Day came around. The day before- Tuesday, Febuary 13th, 2018, I went to district ensemble Festival with my Choir Class to perform at Holt high School. Directly after our performance, sight reading and evaluation we entered the auditorium. That was when we were stuck in this unfamiliar school on lockdown. A security breach- they wouldnt tell us more. We we not allowed on our devices- no contacting family or friends. No food, no sound, no bathroom. We, of course being high school students and not complete fools, sent our slyest to sneak and see what was happening. We were under bomb threat. 

We stayed quarintined from 8 am(we had arrived at 7 am) until 1 o'clock in the afternoon.

And we were frightened.

Once again- we were eventually givin an all clear. When we opened the auditorium doors we saw the undescribable looks on our own faces upon realizing that Holt high school had continued their day as if there was no threat at all.

And this is what will happen

Because one day- these threats will be real. There should be no exeption, as a teacher it is your job to keep students safe. All drills should be taken seriously...

So Stupid...Just this week my home school GLHS was under bomb threat again( Tuesday, February 20th, 2018)

The same day and time as the week before. Fellow vocalists and I were devastated and moved to tears, terrorified that we were the target.

Once again- all clear.

Stop The easy access to military equiptment
