Since she grew up in Joseon Dynasty, she is used to wear Hanboks and feels mostly comfortable while doing so.
Whenever she goes outside she wears more modern versions of Hanboks.
But if it is a time, where she fully needs to blend in with mundanes and any typ of Hanbok would make her stand out too much, she will wear normal dresses (that actually cover something). She just doesn't like the idea of wearing pants.

Hae Soo has made many deals throughout her life. She met different people from all over and everyone of those people will say, that she is one of the most honorable beings on this planet. If she makes a promise, she keeps it. Her deals are never and will never be chicanery or a trap. She is naturally a peace loving person and would never betray people. Unfortunatly, she cannot say the same thing for her business partners, although, those who tried screwing with her, recieved a punishment. For life. She will not tolerate and never forget such behaviour and since word had spread to what happened with imposters, noone dared to try. She managed to secure her daughter a save home in Gangnam.
"I have told you, this is not what I want."
She has her priorities layed out and easily executes whatever or whoever comes in their ways. She might be a little too enthusiastic on the way, but the picture of her Utopia keeps her fighting until she drops. She worked hard for what she'd become and is proud of herself to say, that she managed to get it without any games or swindling.
"It's kind of hard, you know, when you want to help people, but since you're asocial everyone thinks you're mean"
She is highly misunderstood. Her direct and blut ways mostly make people believe she is cruel and scary. But the thing is, she is just asocial. She doesn't know how to talk to new people, especially if there are more than one involved. If that happens she just freezes, says stupid things that just slip right there out of her impulsive tounge and wishes they'd just go and let her bury herself in pity. One could think that in her more than enough time on earth she would've mastered it by now. But since warlocks mostly live alone and not in groups she'd only see other people whenever one called for a deal or a meeting.

She wouldn't talk about it, but she is still hurt from her parents betrayal. She didn't understand how they could hate her so much, even though she did nothing to deserve it. She didn't sign up for all this, she had been afraid and needed support, or someone to say that everything would be okay, but all she got was despise. They didn't give her a chance to get it under control and continue her normal life. She felt worthless and hurt. During all those shaman meeting, where she was tied up and whipped until her whole body was covered with blood, her parents just watched. And it hurt more than the whipping. In her rage she once used her magic against her mother, choking her. She was surprised from her doings and felt ashamed, to have become what they saw in her. So she decided to run away and never come back. She never met them again, never heard of them, never visited their grave.

"My story actually began even before my birth.
It's funny how you think you know a person well enough to figure out if something is wrong. Guess my mum wasn't so in love like she always claimed she was. Cause she did not realise, that this dude she was sleeping with, wasn't my father, but a a demon. She didn't even realise it until I was already born and the damage was done. I was born as a mix race and became a warlock. Well, to be honest, it could've been worse. But at that time, everyone was so scared, confused and totally not cool with how everything went on, that they just blamed me. Oh my god I really cannot believe how calm I am right now, while talking about it. Suji, did you notice?" I turned around to see my daughter crumbled up in a chair, knees pulled to her chest, painting her toe nails.
"Yes mum, that's so wonderful", she claimed in a monotonous voice. "Concerning how many times you told this already..."
I raised an eyebrow. "Are we getting cocky over there?" She looked at me for the first time since this conversation started, her face showing that I hit a nerve. "Mum, the story. The author-nim doesn't have all day to read this" I turned around in my chair and tried to focus again.
"The point was, my parents hated me for what I was and it didn't matter to them, that I had nothing to do with this. I was the flaw in our family. So they locked me up in my room and only let me outside to perform rituals. Tying me up like some slaughter pig and whipping me until i bled. Afterwards they'd just throw me back into the room, without even doing something about my wounds. All those emotions, that I was unable to unravel builed up in me and I bursted. One day before a ritual, I used my magic for the first time for myself. I let out all the anger and frustration out on my mother. I cried while doing so. How she dared blaming me for her mistakes, me, an innocent child. All I desired was love and savety.
After that I fled from home. I fled for 4 days, without a break, scared my parents were following me. I ate nothing, drank nothing, I only had those clothes on my body, no money or belongings. I fained somewhere along the way, I really can't recall where and woke up in a house. Let me tell you, the fear I had that I was back at my parents house. But I wasn't
I hadn't realised, that I've opened a portal to another place. And I so happened to faint in front of another warlocks house.
He cared for me and taught me everthing I know today. Well, not everything, but most of it." I heard how Suji moved behind me and came closer. She placed her chair behind mine, sat down and rested her head on my shoulder. "The next part is the best one", she said with a smile and I patted her head. "Sure, that's always the best one. So after a few decades passed I found her on the streets. She was abandoned by her parents somewhere in an alley next to trash bins. I took her with me and raised her as my own. On her 16th Birthday I made a deal with four other strong warlocks and we created a pendant, so powerful, that whenever mundanes wear it, they will stop aging. I gave it to her and-" I turned around and looked at her neck. She covered her skin with her hands and looked away, embarressed. I sighed "You left it at home again, didn't you?" I saw how she nibbled on the insides of her right cheek, something she usually does when she feels guilty. "I forgot to put it back on after I came out of the shower." I closed my eyes. "Right." She looked at me for a second and then lowered her head. "Sorry, mum. Won't happen again." I rolled my eyes at her and smiled. " I mean, I don't force you to wear it, so if you forgot it, okay. Remember, it's a gift, not an obligation."
She nodded and moved back to the place she sat before. I smiled at her.

In 1890 her reputation made it's way into the institute, and soon they came to her for bigger magic tht others couldn't uphold. Her many many years of living paid off into a knowledge so big and diversified that many came to her. She usually watches the heart of humans. If they are shown to be mean, selfish or evil, she will either take a large sum of money or even not accept the deal at all. If she sees through you and recognizes a pure heart with good intentions and a will to help humanity, her price will be lower. The institute fast became one if not THE best custumors.

Q - What do you think about Shadowhunters?
A - We have history. As the High Warlock they find be pretty often. Makes me think they don't have that much under control as they claim to have. But who am I to judge, right. We make business, free of anything else than trading. I don't know them, hence, I really don't want to be prejudiced." I shrugged my shoulders and gave him a sign to carry on with the next question.
Q - What do you think about Downworlders?
A - I smiled. "This is a trick question, right? You see, since I am a Downworlder myself, I cannot say anything bad without insulting my own kind. But saying good stuff about them is unjustice to my people aswell, since I'll compare them to the other trash." A rush of disgust fills me and I close my eyes and hold up my hands before my chest as if they could prevent those bad thoughts about Vampires and Werwolves infiltring my brain.

A - "My daughter. Honestly, I don't leave her anywhere. She's the safest when she's with me."

Suji is constantly torn between wanting a normal peaceful life and giving in into the wonderful world she was brought up into. She has her usual mundane life: going to school, having to worry about an overprotected mum and dealing with puberty, love, friends and all that absolutly boring but so fulfilling stuff mundanes have to take. But the glory wanting, outgoing and adventure loving side from her constantly reminds her that there is such a beautiful world hidden in the ignorance of mundanes. Her only frustration in it was: She was actually not a part of it. Her mum is a warlock, she met vampires, werwolves and shadowhunters along the way.. creeping on them as they walked into her mothers "office", searching for a deal. She wasn't allowed to look or interact with them for her "safety" but her admiration for those so not normal things would not leave her alone. She constanly felt insecure about being the ugly duckling in a world full of swans, her being too normal for this lovely world. So she mostly acted like she didn't want to be a part of it, and stayed in her mundane life.
While training with Kain and Elsie at the Institute, she felt so happy to finally be someone, to be stronger and have a purpuse in life. She felt like she finally belonged in the world she wanted to be a part of so bad. But soon her ambition made her greedy and impatient, not realising that she was still a mundane and not a Shadowhunter. It hurt her heart when her mother called her back to continue her training away from the Institute. The emotional person she is, she had a big fight with Haesoo over it, which of course didn't stay long. Suji is a very loyal person and to those she holds dear she's never mad at for too long.

Haesoo found her as an infant on the streets of Seoul and took her home. She tried to find her real parents but they were nowhere to be found. She kept Suji, raising her like the daughter she would never have, but never forgetting that she was still a mundane. She put her in normal Schools and tried to give her that much of a normal life that she deserved, but never concealing the other one.
Everytime she met Shadowhunters or downworlders to make a deal, she'd tell her to wait in her room until she was finished (what she didn't do - and Haesoo knew).
Junior high, by the time she was 13, a dangerous greater demon was killing mundanes and Haesoo was in big fear of her daughter. The Cherrywain family themselves came to Haesoo for help and she decided to make a deal. She'd help get rid of the demon, if the Cherrywain family would allow Suji to train for a year. They accepted and soon the Demon was gone and Suji was staying at the institute. She learned how to fight, deal with weapons and also made friends with Kain and Elsie. Well, with Elsie. Kain's and her relationship was more bickering. They have a love hate relationship. They know they care for each other, they are very good and loyal friends, but won't show it. It's strictly superficial love though, for Kain at least. For Suji it's just a way to overplay her little crush on Kain.
Soon her mother noticed that it was maybe not a good idea to send her away to the institute. Despite Suji's hope to enlongen her stay at the institute, her mother called her home after the year ended. Even though the Cherrywain family seemed to think that Suji was indeed a good warrior, learning fast and would make a really good shadowhunter one day, Haesoo declined. This caused a big fight between mother and daughter which didn't last long though.
After some discussions, they finally met under contitions. She was still allowed to visit the university 3 times a week to practice, but still has to go to mundane school, keep her grades up and must not try to study shadowhunters (everyting is just for self defence and protection, plus she sleeps at home. Obviously Haesoo knew that Suji wasn't keeping the deal, since she wasn't very careful around HaeSoo not to draw little ruins on the table in the morning, or forgot Elsies shadowhunter history books in the livingroom. But she didn't say anything.
Elsie and Suji were mostly training together. Theoritical and practical. Well, most of it was Elsie kicking Suji's , since she was way stronger than her. Elsie was totally ruthless on her, but Suji liked it. She would not become better if Elsie was going soft on her. On Elsie's 16th birthday they made a promise to persuade everyone, let Suji become a Shadowhunter so that they can become parabatai before they turn 19.
As a gift for her 17th birthday Haesoo gave her a necklace. (Only) While wearing it she will not age anymore.

He just looked at me with suspicious eyes and looked down at his paper, before again raising his head to meet my eyes.

A - "They are hero's. The best-" I stop. and suddenly shrinked in my chair while pulled my hands to my chest and leaned down. My face was painted with guilt as I whispered. "There's no change my mother will hear this right? Otherwise I want to retract my statement." He looked at me with those judging eyes again. "You're really a hard one, huh? Okay, got it."
Q - What do you think about Downworlders?
A - "You see, My words are really binded here. Even if I wanted to say something bad about them WHÌCH I'M NOT-" I practically yelled at him ehen he wanted to interfere and probably twist the words in my mouth. "For me. I don't judge beings for what they are. I just judge when for what they do." I said in a Hermione Granger like upright geeky posture smiling like a total doof. From the look on his face I could tell that he really hated his job. I couldn't blame him.
