looking back, how crazy did you get for kpop in 2017?

It's been 17 days now since 2018 has officially started and time flew by real fast. I don't think I have done much even if I got so many plans when the new year was fast approaching. Being a Kpop fan for a little more than 6 years now, I never thought I'd come this far, with me thinking, listening, watching and reading Kpop like 24/7. Well, I may be too focused with my ultimate bias groups but it doesn't mean I am not looking around for fresh voices, fresh faces, and fresh entertainment. One thing I noticed though is that I mostly paid attention to older groups. They're more mature, more experienced and more open than the newbies and in my opinion, more fun. Well, I didn't plan on stanning any group as hard as I do for Exo and FTIsland but 2017 got me listening and enjoying the music of Mamamoo and Akmu and just recently, Got7. Ahhh Kpop is like a quicksand to me, it got me sinking deeper and deeper and I just couldn't resist it when everyone is so good.

Now before I start to get in too deep on any of these groups, I took the chance to look back on the previous year and got myself thoroughly amused and shocked on how crazy I had gone for Kpop. Well, these may not exactly be the craziest things ever done by anyone but hey, before Kpop happened to me, I only knew of Dara and 2NE1 and then BigBang. To think that I have been shutting down my sister whenever she speaks of the latter and TOP who was her bias. But then, Fantastic Baby happened and I found myself trapped in this new world. Not saying, I want to get out though. Well, not anytime soon I guess.

Now going back to the main reason why I created this blog post, this is  the list of how crazy I got for Kpop in 2017. This may be short but I'm effin' proud of them.

1.) I have watched all Exo-starred movies in the local theatres. xXx: The Return of Xander Cage (Kris Wu), The Great Wall (Luhan), Kung Fu Yoga (Lay) and Railroad Tigers (Tao). Well, except Valerian. Sorry Kris! I run out of moolah!

2.) I have watched EXO'rDIUM all by myself. Like wow, did I dare attending it alone. As it turned out, it's one of the best decisions I have made to-date. I got to enjoy singing along with the boys, even to my least favorite song, Wolf and shamelessly awoo-ed with my fellow Aeris. It's so fun!!!

3.) I have watched M.O.T.T.E. without using taking pictures or recording any videos. Like at all. Well, this time I wasn't alone so my sisters took care of those. I just sat back and enjoyed the concert and even spazzed over Daragon and cried so many times over the entire show. What an amazing experience, really!

4.) Lastly, I have tracked all Exo fanfics that I have read all throughout 2017 and the numbers are overwhelming. Yes, I tracked even the word count. I never thought this would get this big, because I wasn't curious at first. All I wanted was to keep track of what I have read so far, organized and listed chronologically in Listography, especially when I have begun exploring other fanfic platforms. However, when AFF introduced the word count feature midway through the year, I've begun thinking about it but didn't get the actual work done until the last quarter of the year. Granted, AFF wordcount includes the foreword but hey, I only want the estimate so I thought that will do.

So that's 431 oneshots, 82 shortfics, 21 longfics, many drabbles, many ongoing fic chapter updates, 157 of which turned out to be amazing gems that went straight to my favorite Exo fanfics of all time. I know there's a lot more out there but I only read what I could. Fanfic reading has been my most favorite pastime in the last 2 and half years now and it's quite obvious I didn't have time for other activities anymore. Like I gave up watching Kdramas, and some movies too. I also ignored reading real novels, especially those I have and paid for. Now you know how trash I got for fanfiction. I have no life but fanfiction. Can you blame me though? Everyone author I stumbled upon are amazing, I can only be envious of their talent.

Hopefully, in this year, I would be able to embark on yet another journey as a fanfiction reader and actually fulfill the biggest plan I ever had since I started reading here, and now I am telling it all out loud. 2018 would be it, for real this time.

So yeah, there you go. I have bared myself, even for a little, even if it sounds petty to some. Not that it matters, but I feel good being able to say it all out loud. Will I be able to outdo this list in 2018? We'll see about that, but now that you knew about my crazy self, my friends, tell me, how crazy did you get for Kpop in 2017?

PS: In case you're curious, that's a total of 5,831,147 words, all Exo fanfiction. I'm a hopeless case right? Thank you so much for reading!

I haven't gone crazy myself. In fact I came back in the world of kpop in 2017. You seemed to accomplish a lot of things on the kpop fandom last year though!
