READ ME RANDOM STRANGER COMING ACROSS THIS BLOGPOST the impending doom is near (SAVE NET NEUTRALITY!! this is a pre-warning goodbye post)

OKAY SO HI LET ME JUST START OFF BY SAYING THAT SCHOOL HAS BEEN KILLING ME AND THAT JUNIOR YEAR IS HARD

BUT LEMME GO INTO WHY I MIGHT BE SAYING GOODBYE TO YOU ALL TODAY

so in America tomorrow, we’re going to be watching to see if the death of the Internet as we all know and love it will occur tomorrow.

why?

because of this thing called NET NEUTRALITY.

if you don’t know what that is, here’s a simple version of it: it’s what defines the Internet.

Sure, we have to pay to have the Internet in our own homes currently, but do we pay for what websites we can view while on the Internet? No.

And, is there any restrictment by the government on what websites we can view and use? No.

Because they’re not allowed to.

Net Neutrality states that the big telecom companies (such as AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, etc) are to provide the Internet but by no means are they to control what websites their consumers use.

But tomorrow in America, things might change drastically.

With the Federal Communications Commission planning on taking the keys to our Internet freedom, those big telecom companies can control EVERYTHING.

So, here’s a way to try and get you to understand how important this is:

Say you wanted to post a Happy Birthday post for one of your best friends on Facebook. You try loading the Facebook website, but the website never appears. It just keeps loading and loading.

Why does this happen? Because your Internet provider (the telecom companies) are trying to restrain you from it. The only way you’ll be able to get back on your Facebook again is to either PAY to use that website, which means PAYING for a upgraded plan. (The repeal of net neutrality will possibly  lead to website bundle packs, which mean that a certain number of websites are to be paid for within one pack.)

What about Instagram? Nope, same thing with Facebook. Pay for ithe bundle, and you can use it freely again.

But, it’s not just one payment and it’s done.

It’s regularly paying for access to ALL of these websites.

Don’t get me wrong, most of America hates this repeal. In fact, don’t even start with me on mentioning the preseident  anywhere near this because that’s not even what the focus of this is.

If the repeal is approved tomorrow, I may never be on AsianFanfics again.

Pretty sure a lot of  people might not be on this website in a long while if this repeal happens.

So, I know this sounds really dramatic, but honestly, it’s a BIG issue.

I may never talk to the friends I’ve made on here again.

So, if this happens, just know that it’ll be my official goodbye when they decide to implement it. If it doesn’t, then you’ll see me login tomorrow.

Ugh i hate hownits been approvedㅠㅠ
But dw, we still have hope!!!!
If Congress rejects the idea then we'll still have our net neutrality. So many people are going crazy contacting the FCC chairman abt net neutrality rn. All i can say is, i hate the guy who came up with the idea to repeal net neutrality. I hope he suffers from explosice, diarrhea >:(

What about using a VPN? In China the government has some websites blocked so if you are in the Chinese territory you only get an access denied if you try to enter some websites, for example YouTube and Facebook.
(Note: in China you have no "pay to use" choice)

The vpn changes your IP address (or so I understood?) so you can open whichever site you want. The thing is you have to download it before entering the country and from what I know it is free only if you download the phone app, the one for computer is not.
