kihyun's childhood was not the norm. with his parents having a job which required them to continuously travel overseas, kihyun was forced to stay under the surveillance of his uncle and auntie in the smaller suburbs of seoul. it wasn't great for him, after all, knowing that you had parents that could be there for you but aren't made him very insecure from his peers, who all so often taunted him about his absent parents.
so, halfway through kihyun's middle school years comes along the annual student exchange from his sister school in japan. lo and behold, he was chosen to house the student. of course. kihyun was against the idea of having another student (let alone one from another country) stay with him as he has trouble generally communicating with others. of course, life has its ways. minatozaki sana was only a year older than kihyun, though her amiable yet relatable personality won her kihyun's heart in the most platonic of ways. she, throughout many of her days in korea played her copy of whatever game she had on kihyun's gaming console, sharing many sleepless nights with him. and although kihyun had no interest in gaming (the only true reason he had one was because it was his parent's gift to him during that one trip from god knows where), kihyun soon grown fond of it and it became his hobby even after sana left back for japan. there was no doubt that she was the one that broke him out of his shy shell during the duration of her stay.

it's tiny, but it's bearable as there isn't much kihyun does in his home anyways. a giant flat screen that serves as a television and the display for playing much of his video games. there's a microwave and a portable stove near where the sink is and most of his food is ramyun and snacks along with stacks of soft drinks and ice tea. in the far corner of the room, adjacent to the flat screen is his mattress. no stand. just a large mattress as kihyun has a tendency to roll around in his sleep. the other corner is used to store all his clothes.

to be fairly honest, tk didn't even want the job. pressured into finding a job to sustain his now adulthood life, he handed in his resumé to every building there was. one, of course, was kim&co. at the very bottom of his resumé was 'looking for experience' and he was eventually handed into.
kihyun guessed that he had made a good impression at the reception where he had handed in his resume due to his confident aura. 'jokes on you, i nearly shat my pants after realising i handed my resume to one of the biggest companies in korea'. honestly, he would have been fine with working in mcdonalds' but an internship is okay...

in the early mornings, he buys specific orders from the designs team for breakfast and coffee so by the time the team arrives (usually around the same time hopefully) they'd have their coffee or breakfast on hand. he usually has it memorised, lies - kihyun has the complete list of all the preferences of the designs team on his phone.

kihyun suffices enough energy from the canned coffees' he binges on so actually getting coffee from an actual café is a no-go from him though on particularly hot days you could see him drinking a toasted white chocolate crème frap.

he would definitely be, no - he is, the one ordering as much food as he can without earning a grudge from whoever's paying. as someone who can barely cook and all he has is instant foods, kihyun certainly takes up his opportunities in this department. to kihyun's defense, he did know sana well back in middle school so connecting with her (for the second time) was not a hard feat to accomplish. he'll blush at any sort of indication of an intimate relationship between the two. they're good friends. they do most things (out of work) together. however, it doesn't make up for the awkward interactions between the two.
