APPEARANCE
a charmingly cute looking lad, he is. alasdair has fawnish skin, brown hair, plump cheeks, a sweet smile, and light brown orbs. his stature is sturdy (for his age) but short and small, and there is a few scars sprinkled on his body from falling out of trees, and rough soccer games. there's always a band-aid on him somewhere.
FASHION
with his mother being the handler of all his clothing, alasdair's style is quite fashionable, and beyond his age. his style ranges from working but causal business man to boyfriend material. honestly, if it was up to him he'd be wearing what he wears when he goes to soccer practice (shorts in a tee), but that'd just get him many scoldings of "no don't wear that!" from his controlling, fashion forward mother. "it's whatever, i don't really care. just so long as i have clothes"
an extroverted introvert, neither a follower or a leader, always fall somewhere in between, true neutral. insensitive, emotionally inept, competitive, nonchalant, easy-going, passionate, selectively sociable, both gregarious and solitary.
— someone who is to himself, but doesn't’t mind the company of others. he loves the feeling of being alone, but also likes basking in his company’s presence (even if they’re not speaking to him directly). only time he doesn't’t is if he’s deemed them annoying.
— he's prone to talking when he feels the need or when he’s spoken to. long or short conversations, he doesn’t mind, as he enjoys both.
— a rather laid-back kid who does things at his own pace. alas would be the type to tell others to “calm down” in a situation. you can bet he’s normally not bothered by most things especially if they don't involve him personally.
— unfortunately, he comes off very insensitive a lot of the time. his insensitivity isn’t intentionally malicious however. it’s as though alas doesn’t have the mind to take other’s feeling into account.this is mainly because he grew up with people (coughs his family) who didn’t take his words to heart. completely ignoring them actually. it's by default that he unconsciously thinks everyone’s fine with it. he's willing to apologies if he hurt your feelings but don't expect him to reword or take what he said back (cause he's likely speaking facts and truths).
— only time you’ll see him riled up is in a competition of some sort. alas is heavily competitive despite his slightly disinterested disposition. “it’s like you never know what to expect in competitions. someone will always have trick or two. the game is always changing. you’ll never know who’ll win. that’s why i love it, and push myself". highkey his brother's fault. because of how they would play ball when he was younger during his brother's visits in the summer. and he would always cheat which would drive him to want to win him over no matter what. sadly, he hasn't yet.
— not too good at expressing his emotions verbally. he tries though, but it comes out wrong usually, so more often than not he just keeps it to himself.
BACKGROUND
i. alas comes from a family of purebloods, and while being a kid from those with such status isn’t exactly easy, he’s had a pretty alright childhood so far. he was born on august 18th, in scotland (his father’s birthplace). besides him, his parents had one more kid, his older brother by 10 years, alec. as he got a little older, he became increasingly aware his not so normal surroundings. “it’s magic” his mother explained to the one year old him that didn’t understand why mommy’s makeup was flying. “you’ll be able to do it to.” and there was no doubt that, alas’ parents were pure bloods after all. his brother had just been sent to hogwarts that year. unfortunately, a war in the wizarding world was going on around that time as well.
the war that broke out didn’t directly affect his family as they weren’t involved. they remained neutral. on neither sides of the fight. his father’s main priority was keeping his family safe, so they kept a low profile. of course having distant relatives in the blacks (who were involved) it wasn’t as easy as they hoped.
while his father tried to get them(his cousins) to understand they(his family) will not be helping the dark lord, or anyone for that matter, alas was outside exploring around in the gardens, supervised of course, trying to catch a butterfly with his tiny hands. completely unaware of his parent’s and wizarding worlds problems.
ii. the war had preoccupied his family’s thoughts and time, so alas was left to his own devices. if he wasn’t being tutored, he was outside. his love for outdoor activities and nature related things was strong. alas could always be found outside. if he wasn’t then he was in the indoor garden or making animal origami (trying to make them fly, like he did when he was 6 accidently). his mother didn’t quite like this aspect of him. rather than soccer games (his own of course) and climbing trees, she preferred chess matches and tennis. but she doesn’t push because of her husband.
it caused his relationship to strain. his relationship with his mother is as good as it were before he was so aware of things. he doesn’t hate her(well…), he just doesn’t prefer her company (or his brother’s really). there’s many things he just disagrees with that his mother, and other purebloods, are about. from their snooty attitude to their treatment of muggles. while his mother wouldn’t fight to kill muggles, she has an obvious disgust for them. also “it’s tiresome to be around her.” everything has to be her way, alas has learned over time. and he hates it because his feelings, nor words don’t matter. he could literally tell her ‘i hate this, i don’t want to go’ and sure enough he’s there the next day. “but what can you do when you’re still just a child.”
he’s happy that his father, who doesn’t say much of anything, stepped in and allowed him to play soccer.
iii. of course, the letter comes and he heading to hogwarts not to long after. his mother is saying something overbearing but he’s learned to tune her out by now. she plants kisses on his cheek, along with his older brother.
he doesn't bother waving goodbye to his family, or even looking back. he just boards and takes a seat.
TRIVIA
001. absolutely loves the outdoors. "nature is unpredictable, and it makes me feel free, that's why i like it so much. " you can find him outside majority of the time. napping in a meadow, climbing trees, feeding the birds, and kicking around a ball.
002. alas' family is distant relatives of the blacks. they (his cousins) have visited his family's home a few times. he dislikes their company "they're just as annoying."
003. some habits of alas are saying not really, shrugging, standing with his arms folded, and sitting with his legs crossed with his hand under his chin (if his hands aren't preoccupied).
004. enjoys making origami and airplanes. he makes them move to entertain himself on a rainy day. "mom says i'm definitely not allowed to play outside on rainy days. too much dirt or something about be being dirter than usual.i wasn't really paying attention to what she was saying."
005. alas smells of heather, grass after a rain, and fresh maple taken right from maple trees.
006. since he was homeschooled and couldn't join a team at a school, alas was part of a soccer team at a recreational center. in the teams he was the central midfielder.
007. alas' wolfdog, leaf, both met when he was just a cub. he was wounded in there garden, having gotten trapped in one of the traps his groundskeeper set for raccoons. after healing he set him free back in the woods behind his home. the wofldog came back to play each and every day. no one blinked an eye when he stayed longer than normal and eventually began living in his gardens. his name is leaf because loves leaves.

mother, mareum macmillan (45). demanding, over bearing, affectionate, materialistic, and kind of controlling. they don't really have a close relationship and most of their interactions is forced onto alas from maeum's part. if she wants kisses she plants them on aladair's cheeks (multiple times). because she knows if she asks he'll either ignore her too busy trying to get outside or plant a light one without much heart in it (like it's a task, which it is in hs eyes). most of his interactions with his mother feels like a task to him. "it's not that i hate her, i just hate her company."
father, alistar macmillan (48). concise, placid, hard-working, and quiet. "our relationship is good, i guess." a quiet man who doesn't require much of alas' attention or time. they spend a whopping 20 minutes together before alas is sent off, and most of that time is spent in silence with alas looking out the window.
older brother, alec (20). affectionate(selectively), high maintained, cocky, intelligent, and obnoxious. alec loves his younger brother, that much is clear. but alas on the other hand could do without his brother's visits. he's just as affectionate, and obnoxious as their mother. he kicks a ball around with him sure, but it always ends in a bet that alas always loses because alec likes to cheat. "i can't turn down a bet or a challenge, and he knows this." each time, alas is in awe(cause of the magic) but very heated. sometimes their time together is spent with alec telling him stories of his time in hogwarts or riding on the back of his broom. those times are the only times alas doesn't mind his brother's company. "other than story telling and broom riding, you're annoying brother, y'know that?" his brother only laughs and plants another kiss on his plump cheeks; alas cringes on the inside as he does so.
FRIENDS
soccer team. alas wouldn't go as far as to call his teammates his friends. they were a close teammates sure, but they weren't friends. alas never got to get any of them on a personal level as they were "muggles" and his mother would not accept that. letting him join the team was already pushing it. so he did not go to anyone of the after party for their wins, or attend a teammates birthday party. alas was pretty much a mystery in his teammates eyes.

ARE YOU EXCITED ABOUT GOING TO HOGWARTS? there's no paticular expression on the young boy's face as he shrugs and says "sure."
WHICH HOUSE DO YOU WANT TO GET INTO? "my mom says, to get into slytherin or raveclaw no matter what but i don't really care which." he answers with a nonchalant flip of his hand at the end.
IS THERE A HOUSE YOU DON'T WANT TO BE IN? alas thinks about it for second before shrugging his shoulders again."not really."
WHICH CLASS ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO? this question seems to peak alas' interest as there a spark in those brown eyes of his as he begans to speak.i "herbology. i love anything to do with nature. i'm looking forward to expanding my knowledge on it."it's a cute sight to see, as his eyes are a little bigger when he speaks.
WILL YOU BE TRYING OUT FOR QUIDDITCH? the spark only get's bigger, "yes." he gives definite nod. "my brother tells me it's similar to soccer and american football. i looking forward to trying out. i' already have knowledge of using a broom, my brother taught me."
ARE YOU BRINGING A PET? "my wolf, he's allowed, right? " leaf, is said wolf's name, and he's currently under the table in one of the rooms because he hates strangers.

COMMENTS can you tell i have no idea what i'm doing? because i don't. i really tried though. this was hard esp his bg and personality. his brother isn't really mentioned much in the bg bc he's away at hogwarts. he visited during the summers though. his relationship kind of explains everything anyway.
