Hey everyone in the AFF community,I've reposted this blog (with similiar or same points yet from my history as a AFF writer too) from YeojaUiMongsang that focuses something that writers have always been quite down about(NGL).

THERE IS AN UPDATE TO THIS BLOG AS YOU GO DOWN!!!!!!

Like YeojaUiMongsang has mentioned,I,too,am someone who has quite frequently posted,as well as seen,on the blog post area that have brought up the topic of how inactive and quiet AFF has become,especially with the amount of silent readers increasing as the years go on.

I've joined in 2012 and been on this site for 4 years and 8 months now(It'll be 5 years in Dec)and AFF was pretty good and amazing at the early years with the huge amount of people commenting and writing quite long sentences on what they thought about the stories and actually writing explanations as to why they liked the story/chapter BUTTTT after 2014,the commenting and activeness of readers have hugely decreased with lots of people even quitting AFF and others resorting to going to other websites,such as Tumblr and Wattpad,for more feedbacks. I've actually,at times,focus more on Wattpad due to the bigger amount of comments I get hence motivating me more to update.

With that point,comes the ratio difference of subscribers/readers to comments so stories are getting more subscribers and getting more readers however there's very low or even no comments on the chapters so this doesn't help the writers has there is nothing for them to add or change.Heck I even ask readers at times to comment any couple moments they would like so I can know which couples need more focus,I get comments on them but at times I get no comments at all so making me to think everything is fine and no one is neglected in the story.

The huge problem is silent readers! I hate how I used to get 30-40 comments a chapter in the past but now if I'm lucky,I get 5 MAX -,-'' Now talking about silent readers,I wasn't much of a silent reader since I liked to believe if I commented then hopefully I will get the good karma back hence why I always wrote what I found about the chapter if I really loved the couple's moment in the chapter ORRRRR at the end,after I read all the story and it's finished BUT now I really try to comment on each chapter of what I read since who doesn't love to read comments?! I love getting comments and well they are my biggest priority! I'd rather have medium amount of subs,reads and upvotes with high amount of comments rather then vice versa. I am always thankful at everyone who comments,upvotes,subscibers and even reads my stories since I know that someone,out there,loves my work and that already is a huge special thing for me.

I've had some shares of annoying readers where they constantly message or comment on my story for me to update(which is great since I know that someone really loves my story/I don't mind of it)BUT when I do update,I don't see them commenting on my story at all which makes me very disappointed if I have to be honest. I mean why spam me to update(I have a couple that does it a lot)then when I do,there's no comment or even a ''thank you''?! When I log in and see comment notifications,I am really happy to read them since someone has taken the time to comment which I am really happy and thankful for and I love it when a conversation happens between me and the reader since I always reply back to comments and then some of them naturally turns out to be a long conversation.

Now the point is that there is a movement about this going on,which you can see got started by this blog post here (link is here) and more people have been following through with it so I've decided to put my hand into it and join along and for anyone who is interested in joining a community thing to help bring writers together so that they can share feedback and help one another out then here's the link for it

Let's all try and do our best to try and be more active and make AFF the warm and nice place that it once was! LET'S END THE STREAK OF SILENT READERS by supporting your favourite stories and commenting on them and try talking to them,get to know the story as well as the writers! Expressing your love for your stories and their talent,can be tough but let's try to do that since any feedback is hopefully helpful and good for all writers! There has been times where lots of writers have quit and the ones remaining as been thinking of quitting so let's not make that happen!

[EXTRA NOTE] Some other points I wanted to make based on observation of what others have said:

• When making a comment saying you liked a story, try not to just simply say you liked it, make sure to give reasons as to why. Whether it be the genre, characters, something that happened in the chapter, anything! Let them know what interested you.
• Get involved with the author notes yo! I know some authors, like me, will leave notes at the end of the chapter, sometimes talking about the story or leaving a question for their readers. Why not answer them or see the perspective that they may have noted.
• Try not to do stuff like “update soon” comments. I know there are those who don’t mind them (like me) but I also know quite a few writers who get pissed at comments like these. Telling someone to update soon can be see as a way of being like “hey, I like this a lot, pliss update soon” but actually expressing out the like is SO much better, and there’s also no guarantee of a quicker update.
• DON’T BE AFRAID TO REPEAT! This one actually kinda frustrates me. I’ve seen countless of times where peeps say they don’t comment because they are afraid to bring up a point someone else has already, but there is ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. If I see peeps bringing up a similar point, say multiple peeps say how they liked a certain thing, that let’s me know that “hey, lots of peeps like this, so now I know that it would be a good idea to include more of it” or whatever, that type of thought. So, don’t be afraid to comment something just because another person has already done it, it’s ok to say the same thing. It shows us authors something about the formula of our story, whether it be bad or good, and we can roll with it.
• We aren’t doing this for money mind you lol. I didn’t really care to bring this up since it’s not something that has come to my mind per say, but I’ve noticed how peeps talk about all this writing is being done for free, so I thought I’d just list it anyway for them.

I’m sure there is plenty of other areas that I could’ve tackled, but that’s all I got to say. One last thing for you all:

The creater of this website has decided to get himself on this movement as well since if you guys look below on your profile then you will see ''daily comment streak'' so basically the more you comment,the bigger the streak and the more karma points you can earn! I'm glad to see some action has been taken on this and it's really great to see the movement is working well so let's hope everyone comments on the stories they read and the site can be active,talkative and warm like the place it once was!!!
