ELABORATION —

 

• Jooyeon is not the most bubbly girl of the bunch, Most of the members find it quite hard to be with Jooyeon because she barely utters a single word when she is with them. Its not that she wants to stay so quiet, she just finds it so hard to find the right words to say or even create a simple sentence, in fear of saying something wrong. This goes in hand with the fact that she's so incredibly blunt. Often times when she says something, theres a chance someone may get hurt by what she says but she never intends to hurts someone. When it does she immediately regrets it and scolds herself for saying that. This is mostly seen when people ask for her opinion. In light of her silence, she also finds it hard to express her emotions, mostly through words. She tries her best to show her emotions to others through her actions like subtly offering her lunch to another member because they forgot theirs or always offering to shower last so no one gets upset. However, it hurts her the most when the people around her are suffering and she is not able to say or do anything to make it better. For a quiet girl, she is quite stubborn. She is determined to get her way and stands her ground on whatever she believes in. It takes the members ages to try to convince her to do something she doesn't want to do.

 

Despite these flaws, Jooyeon also has her strengths. She is incredibly intelligent and is seen as a genius by the people around her. Though she doesn't like to flaunt it around, people seem to find out she goes to a gifted school and is ranked number one. Being ranked number one and becoming an idol at the same time does have its tribulations and this shows how hard - working Jooyeon is. Jooyeon had many failures and hardships to become and idol but she never gave up and always tried her best while training and as being an idol. She also studies extremely hard and makes sure she puts most of her effort in her academics, mumbling to herself every single morning "ill give 200% of myself today".Through her hard - work over the years, she has become very mature for her age. She is often mistaken as an unnie of the group when in fact, she is part of the maknae line. Sometimes you'll catch her encouraging the members to keep practicing or even getting some of the unnies to behave. The caring side of Jooyeon is often shown through her trying to be mature, she wants the be like a pillar for the group. She wants the members to be able to depend on her even if she is young

 

BACKGROUND —

• In the city of Daegu on January 19, 1999, Bae Jooyeon was born. Another lovely girl to be welcomed into the Bae family. As a young child, Jooyeon was constantly surrounded by people and cameras, all amazed with her vast knowledge in mathematics and science and her impeccable skill to solve difficult equations without any error. Jooyeon previously hated being surrounded by crowds and found comfort in her older sister when things became too overwhelming for her. The duo of sisters were inseparable until her parents decided that Jooyeon should be schooled in Singapore because of their well known academies for the gifted. At the age of 5, Jooyeon was moved to Singapore to stay with her grandmother and nuture her gifts. At first it was hard for her to adjust to the new enviorment and hated the fact that the school always pressured her to become the best of the best. As she grew, Jooyeon found her love for music, even if she wasn't the best. She loved to sing and loved to perform during talent shows. When Jooyeon turned twelve, she realized she wanted to become a singer and made it known to the people around her but her teachers disapproved of it and told her it isn't a job meant for her, and that she should become a scientist or an engineer. With that Jooyeon chose to supress her dreams and focused on becoming and engineer for three more years. One day, when Jooyeon was fifteen, an agent from SM went up to Jooyeon and suggested that she should audition for SM, she wanted to so badly but sadly declined, remembering what her teachers said, Her grandmother then caught sight of her sadness and had Jooyeon tell her whats wrong which caused her to engourage Jooyeon into auditioning for SM entertainment. At sixteen, Jooyeon moved back to korea to become a singer.

 

RELATIONSHIPS — 

• Grandmother - Sa Mi Ja (77) - retired - Although Jooyeon is often scared of her grandmother because she is so strict. Jooyeon often confides in her grandmother and always opens up to her about her problems. Jooyeon really misses her grandmother now that she is in Korea and calls her every night just to tell her grandmother about her day. Mi Ja, even if she doesn't express it, she misses Jooyeon just as much. She cares for Jooyeon a lot and always tries her best to make Jooyeon happy even if she is not physically present.

 

 

• Sister - Bae Joohyun (26) - Idol (Red Velvet) - It has been a long time since Jooyeon and her sister actually interacted in person but after getting back in Korea, it seems like Jooyeon was never gone in the first place. The two are often seen gossiping to each other, listening to each others problems or just hanging out. Joohyun always checks up on her sister while Jooyeon is training. She is caring and even though she is quiet as well, Jooyeon knows that her sister cares. Despite her being quiet, Joohyun has a very kind and sweet atitude and cares for others more than herself.

 

 

• Cousin/Bestfriend - Bae Jinyoung (17) - Idol (WANNA ONE) - Jinyoung and Jooyeon are an inseparable duo. They support each other through hardships and always makes sure one of them is okay. At first Jooyeon hated Jinyoung because she was jealous of his out going personality but she came to grow fond of it over time. Even if both of them have a busy schedule, they always make time to hang out with each other. Jinyoung may be younger than Jooyeon but he is often seen as the one taking care of her most of the time. He is very protective of his noona and hates the fact that she has a crush on one of s.

 

 

• Closest Friend - Mark Lee (18) - Idol (NCT) - Mark isn't as close to Jooyeon as the other girls are but she considers him as one of her closest friends from NCT. They met when they both had the same dancing lesson and Jooyeon had trouble keeping up, so Mark decided to help her. They often helped each other out when training and always check up on each other to see if everything is going okay. Mark really cares for Jooyeon and hopes that she'll open up to him more, he puts a lot of effort in their friendship and actually doesn't want Jooyeon to befriend the other NCT members because he doesn't want their bond to go away.
