BACKGROUND: from the day she was born, kim jangmi was brought up to be the perfect little girl. as an only child and a girl in a rather traditional-minded family, jangmi is very very loved and very very cossetted. all she had to do is ask, and she would have it within the day. pretty dolls, prettier dresses, even prettier affection from her parents, kim jangmi had it all and developed a bit of a princess complex. she was always a huge crybaby, especially as a kid, and she'd always get made fun of for it. no one really liked her that much because she'd always cry to get her way. she never had any real friends growing up, kids would only hang out with her because she had a lot of toys or because their parents told them to be nice to her so they could rub elbows with people who had a decent amount of money. they'd totally ditch jangmi when they found someone cooler, or someone they actually liked.
to fill up her loneliness, jangmi would often play in her mom's closet, throwing together outfits ( which her mom loved ) and then one day her dad came home with a sewing machine when she was like 10 and jangmi's been in love with making clothes ever since.
jangmi gained her first friend in middle school, a tiny, angry egg by the name of kwon hayoon. it was the day of the school's trip during a scavenger's hunt. jangmi was crying because she couldn't find anything on the list no matter how hard she looked and her hair was messed up and her clothes were dirty and this was not an activity for girls and to top it all off, some of her peers were laughing at her for crying. and then angry mom hayoon swoops in to tell them not to laugh at her and then comfort jangmi. hayoon even helped her with the scavenger hunt! and since that day jangmi's just been super heart eyes for hayoon in a totally platonic way.
LIFESTYLE: during the summer, jangmi plans on attending a bunch of fashion, makeup, and design workshops. she's also gonna watch dramas and read terribly cheesy romance manhwa and maybe marathon sailor moon again. but other than that she's gonna hang out with her friends like as much as humanly possible because she's gonna miss them so. much. the more responsible squad friends are like gonna teach jangmi how to do as many adult things as possible so she doesn't accidentally kill herself come fall.

they met the first year of high school during a remedial lesson for a test that jangmi failed and bin fell asleep during. it was her mom's birthday and jangmi really didn't wanna miss it so she tried to charm the teacher into letting her skip the lesson, to no avail. deciding to be nice, bin distracted the teacher by asking for help with problems he didn't understand, allowing jangmi to slip out of the lesson. the next day, jangmi gathered all her courage and found him and shouted a 'THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME' while handing him a pretty little hand made card of gratitude. she literally sprinted away from him as soon as he grabbed the card and then she tripped down some stairs. bin was suprised, both at the gesture ( because normally people wouldn't thank someone for something so small ) and also because just fell headfirst down some stairs. after that, he would say hi to her in the hall and sometimes they would talk.
they became friends first and started hanging out with the squad and they'd go on cute little "friend dates" where they'd hang out at cafes or go shopping for fabric together. and then one thing led to another and then bin asked her out at like the end of their second year and she started crying and bin was confused and worried. she said yes once she stopped crying and honestly everyone was kinda shook.
