Hanakimi(Hana) Jade Seol

District 1 : Luxury

1. Why were your character chosen to compete?
Hana finished both elementary and middle school at the top of her class, excelling in everything that she did, especially in martial arts. Her parents sent her to the special training academies, where she was chosen by the previous victors to be sent to the 25th Annual Hunger Games. Since she excelled even in the special training academies, they sent her knowing that she would be the perfect tribute.

2. Tell me more about your character's personality and background:

While Hana graduated school at the top of her class, her social life wasn’t exactly up there. She was constantly bullied for being smart and good at everything because of the constant comparison between her and the other children. This caused her to become extremely introverted and paranoid about everyone. She grew up in a normal family--one mother, one father, and an older brother who wasn’t really ever around. She was expected to do the schoolwork her parents gave her, attend the special training academies, and work at her parents’ perfume store, Seol’s Scents, at nighttime. She learned the art of mixing liquids to make the perfect scents -- toxic, poisonous, subtle, strong, fresh, manly. Hana feels trapped as she repeats the same things over and over again on a daily basis. She wants to explore the world and strives for excellence so that she can be chosen for the 25th Annual Hunger Games as it will give her a chance to prove herself stronger than everyone else sees her as, which is a weak and quiet introverted “geek”.

3. Tell me about your character's daily activities:

Everyday, Hana wakes up at 5 in the morning to do her daily chores of cleaning the house, making breakfast, and taking care of the family dogs--Mochi and Ddalgi. After doing her daily chores, she sprints to the special training academies so that she can work hard to be chosen for the next Hunger Games. She trains and learns how to tie strong knots, throw knives, climb trees, and make shelters along with her childhood friend, Changkyun. Once time goes by to around 8 PM, she runs down the street to her parents’ perfume store to create new never-smelled-before luxurious scents to be sold to their customers the next day. Through trial and error, she learns how to make all sorts of scents -- both dangerous and safe.

4. Family history / Relationship with your family

Hana’s parents support her in everything that she does, as long as it brings pride to the family. Her brains and strengths in martial arts also brings the family much pride and happiness as her name gets posted in the District Newspaper quite often for the scents she makes. This also increases the number of customers that come in everyday at Seol’s Scents to buy Hana’s new creations.

Father: [August Inguk Seol]
August Seol is quite strict and limits Hana’s free time, which really isn’t much. He makes sure that she stays at the top of her class and is the one in charge of the family. If she slacks off even a little bit, he’ll be first to reprimand her for it. There used to be a time that he was the loving and caring father that Hana longs for, but every ounce of nice and compassion left with the death of his firstborn.

Mother: [Ruby Jihye Kim]
Ruby Jihye Kim is the mother that every girl asks for. She constantly caters to Hana’s wants and needs, though Hana doesn’t really have that many wants, and always lends a listening ear when Hana needs to rant. She’s the one who taught Hana how to mix scents and discovered Hana’s talent in martial arts. Ruby doesn’t really care about how Hana does in school, but does everything in her ability to make her daughter happy. She’s also the one who lessens Hana’s punishments when August gets mad and dishes his anger out at her for getting grades that don’t exceed his expectations.

Sibling(s): [Frederick Haneul Seol]
Frederick is Hana’s brother who is never really around. When they were younger, the two did everything together, but after a tragic accident (that still remains a mystery to their parents), the sibilings no longer interact with one another unless absolutely needed. He is the extreme opposite of Hana and fails in his academic work while being extremely extroverted. He is on the opposite side of Hana and is normally the one who starts bullying others and getting them to be the friendless losers.

[Roger Hansung Seol]
Roger was Hana’s oldest brother. He passed away when Frederick was 7 and Hana was 5. The two siblings had watched as their oldest brother drowned in the local lake. They had thought that Roger was fooling around with them until it was too late. Neither of them knew how to swim and have not spoken to eachother about the traumatic accident ever since. They eventually grew apart as years passed and the cause of Roger’s death became the last secret shared between the two.

5. Do your character have a speciality that might be an advantage in the arena?

Hana is a pro at throwing knives. The precision in her deadly accurate knife throwing surpasses all of her mentors, shocking even Changkyun. It seemed to have come naturally to her when the two trained the first day as they tested the weapons laid out for them to use. However, she has another skill that remains a secret to everyone at the training academies as it is something that she does every night. Thanks to her work at Seol’s Scents, Hana knows how to mix the most toxic and deadly scents to use for her advantage against her opponents.

Changkyun Lim

18

1. Why were your fellow tribute chosen to compete?

Changkyun was chosen to compete because he was very unconventional out of all the kids training with Hana for the Hunger Games. Although he wasn’t necessarily the best candidate to send as tribute, the previous victors suggested that he go because of his smarts and confidence that he has in everything that he does.

2. Tell me more about your fellow tribute's personality and background:

Changkyun has quite the taste for pretty things. He’s a huge firt when he’s in front of the camera and sponsors and constantly teases Hana for being short when the cameras come to film them. However, his genuine sincerity is what makes him so charming as he becomes extremely earnest and works hard in all that he does.

Changkyun’s family works in the gemstone industry. His parents own a jewelry store across the street from Seol’s Scents. His precision and patience plus the combination of his natural eye for detail and skills with using lasers helps his family to create some of the cleanest cut diamonds and precious stones.

3. Tell me about your fellow tribute's daily activities:

For the youth in District 1, it’s all about training every day for as many hours as possible. So Changkyun gets up at the crack of dawn to train with the other kids in his district. He isn't the strongest, in fact that are other careers that surpass his physical abilities by far but the reason why Changkyun was chosen by the mentors was because his intellect definitely surpassed the other's.

After physical training, he heads home to work with his family in their gemstone business. He likes to learn about the science behind the rocks and how they become so precious. In his spare time, he likes to immerse himself in geological science as well as other sciences just because he enjoys it.

4. Family history / Relationship of the fellow tribute's family

The Lim family is one of the most well-known families in District 1 for their success in the gemstone business. The Lims are all very close-knit and are always on good terms with one another. Changkyun gets along with them very well as they are all extremely similar to him -- all brains and some brawn.

Father: Changseop Lim

Mother: Henrietta Lim

Sibling(s): Seokyun Lim

5. Do your fellow tribute have a speciality that might be an advantage in the arena?
Changkyun is extremely smart and uses his smarts to his advantage by scheming and planning plots to trap people or just reading people from their characteristics and actions. Using this to his advantage, he can target people by figuring out their weaknesses and using it against them, heartlessly.

District 4 : Fishing

1. Is your love interest your fellow tribute from your district? If yes, ignore question 2 & 3:

Nope~

2. Tell me more about your love interest's personality and background:

Joshua Hong was born and raised in District 4, the fishing district. He grew up as a quiet, gentlemanly boy with Yeobi Shin. Although he may seem quiet and introverted, he’s quite the ambivert with his derpy antics and awkward dad-jokes. As the son of a fisherman, Joshua grew up learning how to catch fish using almost everything. His mother passed away when he was young, so he grew up as an only child--fishing everyday to help his father make a living. His nimble fingers can make a net out of fishing line in three minutes and he can catch a ten-pound fish in even less.

3. Tell me about your love interest's daily activities:

Every morning, Joshua wakes up at 3 in the morning to go out on his fishing boat with his father. The two spend the day hauling in huge fish to sell in the market during the afternoon, which is when the most customers come in to buy fish. Once they finish selling the toils of the day, the father & son duo go out to eat dinner at a local restuarant and retire for the day by going home to relax. When they finish fishing early, Joshua either goes out to the local pool to go swim laps or goes to the public bath house with his father for some extra bonding time. On Sundays, the two go to their local church and spend the day at home--cleaning, reading, writing, or just relaxing. With their busy lives as fishermen, the two are well known throughout the District for the large fish that they catch and bring in during the busy hours. However, not everyone appreciates them for their hard work, leaving them just barely financially afloat.

4. What were their reaction when they saw your reaping?

Joshua didn’t see Hana’s reaping, but always wondered how she was chosen...especially with how fragile and tiny she looked.

5. Tell me your relationship with them:

Joshua and Hana had bumped into eachother at the weapons station in the training center when all the tributes met for the first time, with Hana ending up on the floor with a bruise on her behind. Not knowing Hana’s personality or history, he just assumed that she was a tribute that had been mischosen--especially with her fragile appearance that made him want to protect her. However, he was immediately proven wrong as she refused the hand that he offered to help her up with and stood up on her own, chucking a knife with extreme precision at the board, just millimeters away from his head. She was quite intimidating, yet extremely intriguing to him.

Throughout their training period, Joshua always kept a close eye on Hana as he noticed that she wasn’t quite what everyone thought of her. She seemed to be full of secrets--being smarter and stronger than everyone’s assumptions. He felt slightly attracted to her as she continued to impress him, but their relationship truly sparked when he found her passed out in the hallway the night before the Games.

All the tributes had been invited to a large banquet with tons of food--many of the Capitol citizens just binging out and drinking their special drink to regurgitate everything and continue to party. She had accidentally taken a glass of champagne and downed it, thinking that it was sparkling apple cider. However, she soon found herself quite tipsy and excused herself to retire to her room for the day. Being the gentleman that he was, he helped her back to her room--receiving a drunken sloppy kiss on the cheek in return.

Their relationship was more like a “some” relationship. Some people believed them to be dating whereas others believed that Hana was out to kill Joshua with her cold personality and sharp stares. Everything changed once they were in the arena though. Especially since Hana started out in her weakest territory of all.

While most tributes started out in front or behind of the Cornucopia, Hana found herself launched out on a metal disk in the middle of a vast lake off the side of the Cornucopia. With the trauma of her brother’s death still laying heavily on her heart along with the memories of her tormentors pushing her off the dock into the deep water, she found herself frantically trying to stay above the surface but failing quite terribly. Right as she thought that she was going to die, just like her brother, a pair of strong arms wrapped themselves around her shoulders and pulled her up to the surface--allowing her to take a breath of fresh air. Creating an alliance, the two depended on eachother to survive--saving eachother’s lives on several occasions.

Hana slowly finds herself falling for the cute gentleman, but knows that she can’t become too attached. Especially with the number of annoying tributes remaining constantly decreasing.
