Questions for Authors

1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?

My username is a no-brainer. Both syllables are a combination of the first three letters of my first name and the first three letters of my last name. Six letters looked kind of awkward to me so I added the underscore after it. It actually doesn't hold any special meaning other than saying my name without actually spelling it all out.

2. Which is your most subscribed to, story?

Shoebox.

3. Why did you pick your user photo/thumbnail?

I had this editing photos phase before and at that phase, I was obsessively updating my Darahae stories and obsessively reading Jirene stories so I decided to put all four of them in one photo.

4. Who is your AFF bestie?

Bestie? Hmm. Wolfkid, bluechocolate, HeavyRxyne. They're the ones I talk to very frequently. :)

5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?

Of course! Definitely Red Wine and The Snow White Complex by Wolfkid. Read them and you'll see why! And I wrote a poem of TSWC in the last chapter I think? I loved it so much I wrote a poem for it and my friend graciously included it in her update too ><

6. How many stories are you subscribed to?

I actually don't know. Before, I used to subscribe to Darahae and Daragon stories but since Red Wine, I've only read Jirene stories and GDXOC fics. GD isn't even my bias LOL The authors are awesome though so I subscribe to their stories :)

7. What AU do you find yourself writing about most?

I can't really tell. When I write AU stories, they're usually different from one another. But I think I must say it's the captorXcaptive story (Catch and Capture) since out of all the AU stories, it's the longest one.

8. How many friends do you have?

Only 307 in AFF LOL

9. Is there something you'd like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)

I usually write whatever I want whenever I want it so I think I already got used to some readers judging me for it.

10. Is there anything you would like to be better at on AFF? Writing, graphic design (posters), replying to comments, updating regularly, etc..?

Updating regularly and replying to comments. I always say I will update and I always feel bad when I don't follow through. I should blame myself when I set deadlines but I don't because I can't really help it when I don't have the motivation to write. I'll try to be better at replying to comments T_T Sorry T_T But lately, no one ever comments so I get sad lol

Sometimes it makes me think that no one probably reads my updates anymore. Sometimes I ask myself if the stories and updates I put out are even worth reading anymore. lol It lessens my motivation too. ><

11. How many subscribers do you have?

13219 total. I WANT MORE HAHAHA

12. How many stories have you posted online to this day (finished and unfinished)?

Apparently, it's 33 stories but I do have this collection of stories in one of them so it's more than 33. MOST OF THEM ARE ONESHOTS.

13. How many stories do you have saved in your writing program?

I have a lot. I couldn't keep count. Most of them are saved in Word but some of them are in my iphone's Notes or in Pages too. I don't really post them on AFF though.

14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?

I used to type it on Notes but these days, they're just there, chilling in my head. It's better that way because I have so many story ideas but I couldn't even get myself to start writing them.

15. Have you ever co-authored a story?

Nope. I write my stories alone. I had a friend back in UP though. I'd write poems and he'd make stories out of it because once a upon a time, we had this dream of publishing our works. I'd collaborate but I like to write my stories alone.

16. How did you discover AFF?

Wattpad. lol Stumbled into Still You, Just You there and the rest is history.

17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author on AFF?

No. I'm not a famous author.

18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?

Not really. Should I think of one?

19. Was there an AFF author who inspired or encouraged you to write?

ladykika inspired me, to be honest. And there was this lack of Darahae stories before so I decided to join the club. Wolfkid and HeavyRxyne would always encourage me to write. Gave me the perfect nudge to be confident in terms of weaving my thoughts into words. lol

20. How many karma points do you have?

Right now, I have 14,425 points. I think I gave away so much points before too just because I don't know what to use them on.

21. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?

Write from the heart because when you do, the readers will feel it too. Write what you know because if you just write without actually knowing the context of what you're writing about, then it just ruins your story. And actually inserting your own experiences (may it be little or big) in your stories makes it very relatable to your readers. I do that for all my stories and I think that's what makes them feel realistic><

22. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?

I used to make some kind of outline on Word documents but lately, they're all just in my head. I think it's because I always tend to write a story very differently to what I had envisioned it to be all the time.

23. Have you ever gotten a bad review or comment on a story? If so, what did you do?

Of course, yes. I it up and try to improve my updates. Although there was this terrible comment accusing me of plagiarizing my poems. I got so mad because I HATE people who plagiarize. I write a lot of papers for uni and we use this program called Turnitin which checks for plagiarism percentage and if you get caught plagiarizing in any way, you'd literally get a trial for academic misconduct. It's a very tedious and damaging process so I WOULD NEVER even attempt to copy off someone else's words. AND IT IS DISGUSTING and a disgrace to call one's self an author when you can't even write your own works.

24. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, , etc..)

FLUFF. I was and still am not good at writing fluff.

25. What story(s) are you working on now?

Tree House! I don't know why it's taking forever to finish >< I'm also working on A Wonderful Life (but I think I'll be discontinuing it). As soon as I finish Tree House, I'll concentrate on Catch and Capture.

26. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?

I already have everything planned in all the other stories, so yes, I do.

27. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?

I used to. When I was writing Shoebox, I actually would time myself. lol 40 pages in 4 hours. 20 pages in 2 hours. The deadlines I impose on myself motivated me but these days, I don't work like that anymore.

28. Do you think you've improved as a writer since you first started?

YES. I think the stories I write are more realistic now and I try to put in social issues in every piece I write now whereas in my previous stories, I'd write anything just as long as I get a happy ending. Now I try to put myself in my characters' shoes when I write them so even if the story doesn't get a happy ending, I'd be very satisfied as to how the stories turned out.

29. What is your favorite story that you've written?

I have lots of favorites: When the Moon Kisses the Sea, , All Alone, Strangers, Safe in My Own Skin and Too Late. But my most favorite is Catch and Capture. I don't want to sound conceited but I think I wrote the chapters beautifully there T_T

30. What is your least favorite story that you've written?

Shoebox. Lately, I've had the chance to reread it and the first half was written so badly that I wanted to erase all of those chapters. The last chapters, however, made me cry because I invested so much feelings while I was writing them.

31. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?

I was going to say I'd be in stocks LOL but as a writer, I've always dreamed to publish my poems so it would be great if that would actually happen in the future.

32. How many upvotes do you have?

Only 618.:( More upvotes, anyone?

33. What is the easiest thing about writing?

Being able to write anything you want.

34. What is the hardest thing about writing?

Being able to write anything you want but not being able to properly relay what you really want to say.

35. Why do you write?

Writing has always been my escape ever since I was in grade school and even up to this moment, writing takes me to this place of euphoria and of calm. I write because it gives me this sense of calm and contentment that I couldn't get from doing other things. I also write because it relieves my stress. I also write because I want to spread a sense of awareness of different social issues to other people.

I also grew up being with friends who write really well—

In grade school, my best friend and I would always be picked to join essay writing and poem writing competitions in school and that was how we got closer. She moved to Florida after sixth grade and I've only seen her once since then but we still let each other read stuff we've written. I'd read her science papers and I'd let her read my business papers and it'll still feel the same.

In high school, my friends and I were always sent to journalism camps and national writing contests and it was through those that we had bonded and maintained our friendships up to this day. (Additional fact: Met Angelo Suarez in one of those camps and I fell in love with his writing. He's my favourite Filipino poet. You guys should read his works.)

When I was attending university back in Philippines, I used to write journals secretly to battle homesickness. But when I moved to Canada, my close org mates and I found out that we love writing so we've been sharing our poems and stories (not aff stories) to each other. It's been six years but we still share our written stuff to each other. (Some of them actually write for CNN and are in the PH film industry now so I'm really proud of them <3)

Anyway, the reason why I shared those random stories is because being with writer friends actually became one of the reasons why I write. When I write, it also makes me feel like I'm back home with them. SO CHEESY, I KNOW.
