Singing Contest - It brings my country together

Hi =)

I usually dont blog much, maybe you noticed... But today is different because I wanted to tell someone about something that goes on i my counrty, Sweden, right now.

If you live in europe, or maybe just have a european tv channel at home, you may have heard about Eurovision song contest. if you havnt, Ill quickly tell you about it. The European countries all choose one song, sung by one artist and they send that artist to the counrty leading eurovision that year. In that country the artists compete against each other in a singing contest with that song the county chose for them, and then one country wins and gets to host the competition next year.

In sweden we have "Melodifestivalen" wich translates to song festival. For four weeks there will be about 40 artists competing, 8 at a time and every week 2 artists will be choosen to go straight to a grand finally and 2 to go the "the second chance". in week five, allt those who got to go to "the second chance" compete again and 2 more are choosen to go to the final. In the final 10 songs/artists compete and one is crowned as the winner, therefore getting to represent Sweden in Eurovision.
This competition brings the entire country of sweden together. We only have a population of 9 million in the entire country, wich is less people then it lived in New York in the 80´s, but almost all 9 million of us sit by the TV from eight o´clock every saturday in 6 weeks to watch this show. Everyone watches it, and its somethign that brings all of us together in some way.

Thats why I love Eurovision, it brings us all together... =D

ps. Wouldnt it be awesome if Korea was a part of europe and artists like Super Junior or Big Bang could compete in Eurovision song contest??? =D And if they were a part of Europe I would have like 100000000% more chance to see them more oftenly, cause they would probably be located closer... Aisch im talking rubbish =)

ps2. Check out Swedens song from last year. Its called "Popular" and is sung by a guy named Eric Saade who come from sweden. Here´s a link to his music video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cveYAhZHEX0&ob=av2n
