PERSONALITY — 

Ben is very hard-working. He always thinks there is something to improvein everything he does and never takes anything for granted. He is also extremely focused and driven, which likes his sister makes him a very efficient leader. He is the type of person, when on a mission, to only focus on the task at hand and not think about anything else. He is someone who will always tell what's on his mind even if it hurts people. He is brutally honest. He doesn't think that lying to people do them any good and that the truth is easier to deal with, even if it hurts. He is kind with people and is always ready to help the people who needs it. He is also extremely protective with the people he is close to, and especially with Cassie.

Ben is a sarcastic person but not like his sister. He doesn't like when people ask dumb or obvious questions or make dumb or obvious comments so he is more likely to get sarcastic with those people. Even if he is an honest person, he can sometimes be blunt and harsh when talking to people. He often doesn't notice that he hurts people with the things he says until someone gets angry at him. He is not someone to mess with and doesn't hesitate to be threatening with someone he doesn't like or that he knows can be a threat for the people he care about. He is also very resentful. If someone did something against him that put someone he loves or himself in danger, he will only stop when he gets his revenge on that person. Betray him and you will on his list of enemies. He doesn't believe in second chances, in that sense he is very unforgiving.

 

BACKGROUND —
Benjamin Rogers, born Dmitri Kondakova, is the son of Aleksandra and Vadim Kondakova, two members of Hydra, and the twin brother of Cassandra Rogers, born Margarita Kondakova. Well that's what Hydra told him, the reality, however is entirely different. If he is indeed the twin brother of Cassandra, who is younger by seven minutes, he is not the son of Aleksandra and Vadim Kondakova. He is the son of Maria Titova, a spy who worked for Hydra, and Steve Rogers, aka Captain America. 
He and Cassie were part of an experiment conducted by Hydra, which consisted of injected a serum with altered genes into foetuses in hopes they would develop powers. That's how they were born with powers, in addition to their father's enhanced physiology that was passed to them through his DNA. Ben was born with the ability to manipulate Light. 
The twins grew up training to become master spies and assassins for Hydra, never meeting their mother and never knowing who their real father was. They learned all sorts of martial arts, how to disguise themselves on mission and the most important according Hydra, how to kill someone without thinking twice or feeling anything. That's how Ben become a cold-blooded assassin and an excellent spy.
Apart from physical training, they were also trained to control their powers and become more powerful. But it was never enough for Hydra and so Hydra decided that they were not powerful enough separated so they decided to merge them so that they would become one and become more powerful. The twins tried to rebelled against it but with no full control over their powers they were soon neutralized and put into coffin-shaped metal tubes. The tubes were linked to each other and they were connected to a machine. Ben doesn't remember much of the merger except for the pain, it was like his soul was ripped out of his body and his body was burning. The few weeks that followed the merger were fuzzy for Ben, he didn't remember much until one day he started to feel conscious again. He heard his sister talking and tried to focus on her voice and that's how he realised that his mind was inside her head. He could see everything through the eyes of his sister. How she trained, how she was treated by Hydra, etc... He tried to find a way to communicate and after many failed attempts he finally managed to talk to her.

They didn't had time to finish their conversation because an Hydra agent came to tell his sister that she had to go back to her 'room', that was more of a cell than anything. That night the facility was under attack and the twins' life were about to change. He was seventeen.

The one who attacked the facility was S.H.I.E.L.D, who at the same time caught Hydra agents and rescued his sister and him, indirectly. Cassie refused to leave without his body so they took it with them. The one who came to rescue his sister, was Agent Coulson. He explained to her who he was, what was S.H.I.E.L.D and he told her that she was now safe. She asked him how he knew her and why he rescued her. Agent Coulson told her that she will know when the time comes but that for now she was to taken to safe place. 

After they arrived, they took Cassie to the hospital wing to see if she was alright. Ben was staying quiet but he didn't feel at ease because it was an unknown environment. After Cassie was deemed fine, Ben told her that she needed to know how S.H.I.E.L.D. knew her name. She asked Agent Coulson and he started to explain.

He told her that back in the 40s, during WWII, Hydra somehow manage to get their hands on a vial of Captain America's blood, because they wanted to replicate the super serum. He told her that they never really succeded and that's why they began to experiment of foetuses. He told her that they would alter DNA with the blood of Captain America to make babies that were born with the enhanced physiology. He told her that none of the babies survived until Cassie and Ben. He explained to her that once they saw that the foetuses were taking the altered DNA well they decided to inject their mother with altered genes in hopes that they would gain powers. And that's what happened. Agent Coulson told Cassie that for Hydra the twins were their greatest achievement.

Ben was shocked that someone could think to do something like that especially to babies. He heard his sister speak to Agent Coulson.

So let me get this straight! You are telling me that the people I thought were my parents are not my parents, and that I'm the daughter of Captain America, who died during WWII. And you expect me to believe that? Oh and here's another question for you, how come you didn't come sooner to rescue us? Hm? Before my brother was killed by those bastards. Because apparently you've known of our existence since we were born so why wait seveneen years?

Margarita I don't expect you to believe me but it is the truth. It was the orders we were given, not rescue you until you reached full potential of your powers, I'm sorry it cost you your brother.

It took Ben and Cassie a few days to come to term with the truth, Ben believing everything Agent Coulson. Ben convinced Cassie to talk to Agent Coulson about the fact that he was living inside her body.

A few weeks after the merger, i find out that I not only absorbed his powers but also his spirit. He is living inside of me. That's why I wanted his body, because I will find a way to put his spirit back into his body.
That's crazy but then again, nothing is really normal with you.

And that's how from this point forward, Cassie tried to find a way to bring her brother back.
Oh and one more thing, I want to change both my brother and my name.

They became the strongest duo of agents the S.H.I.E.L.D. has ever had.

In 2011, Agent Coulson told them that Captain America's body had been found frozen and that S.H.I.E.L.D. were doing everything they could to wake him up. When their father did wake up Cassie wasn't allowed to see him at first because Agent Coulson said to them that he needed to adjust to his new life before learning that he had children. Cassie, and Ben indirectly, met her father for the first time just before the battle New York. Their first meeting was awkward because neither of them knew what to tell the other. They fought side by side and after that they got to spend more time together, to get to know the other. 
One day Agent Coulson called her saying that they finally found a way to separate Cassie and Ben, with the help of Dr Banner and Tony Stark. Ben was so happy to know that they finally found a way to put him back in his body, but he tried not to show it too much in case it didn't work. Cassie explained to Steve that Ben was still alive in her body and that S.H.I.E.L.D had found way to put him back in his body. Steve was shocked to learn that his son wasn't not dead. 

She went to Tony Stark's lab with her father and Agent Coulson for the separation procedure. Cassie was nervous that it wasn't going to work but she did her best not to show it, just like Ben. 

Ben woke up on a bed in Stark's lab, he felt disoriented and not really at ease in his body. He tried to stand up but fell due to the fact that he wasn't used to use his legs anymore. Tony and Dr Banner came in the room and did a lot of tests on him to see if his vital were good. They were taking his pulse when Cassie came rushing into the room and threw herself into his arms. She was crying and Ben hugged her really tightly because he missed his twin sister so much. Steve then came into the room and the two were properly introduced.

After that the twins were more inseparable than before and they took the time to catch up with they father. They are now part of the Avengers family.
