saito mika was born on april 17, 1997 in osaka, japan and raised in tokyo, japan. her family is consists of her parents, older brother and younger sister. mika is the second child in the family. her father owned a cafe shop in tokyo named 'bon appétit cafe shop' while her mother is the co-owner of the cafe shop. her older brother, kenji, is a photographer while her younger sister, miki is a student. she close with both of her siblings in a good way. mika really loves her mom because she is very understanding, open-minded and supportive mom. she will supports whatever her daughter does. she stated that she can't get along with her father since her father is type of busy and strict person. anyway, she loves her father too. they're just not close to each other.

at school, mika was the top 10 student. she scored A's in all subjects. she didn't have many friends because the students were jealous of her. they're ignoring and avoiding her. so, she only had hanako back then since she's in primary school until high school. hanako always there for her and understand mika. she's good at sports as well but she's not very interested to it. but, she only took art in archery. she used to win and get many medals. she has a good relationship with the teachers. they're always praising mika and loves her. mika respected them too much and was thankful for making her into a person.

honestly, she had never dreamed to be an idol. she wanted to take over her fathers cafe shop before. but after she's been introducing to kpop from hanako, she got interested in music and started to learn sing, dance and even rap. then, hanako told her to watch no mercy show. mika is someone that hard to like something easily. but she joined hanako watching the show. she has been following the show until the end and became a monbebe. she then realized that she wanted to be an idol after watching the show. she felt like, it could be interesting and challenging. she'd like to feel what the trainees felt. she discussed with hanako and she thought the same way, they decided to join the audtion in seoul. two days later, she told to her parents about her dreams. at first, they're protest mika's dreams because mika had never apart with them but after saw her intensity, they agreed to let her daughter go to seoul. they will support everything she does as long as she happy.

back in the year of 2015, she went to seoul with hanako. they joined the audition of starship entertainment one day after they arrived at seoul. luckily, she and hanako were accepted to be their trainees. after 2 years training, she got to participate in the survival show 'no mercy 2' together with hanako because they have much potential to debut. but unfortunately, only her got to debut in the new girl group called 'twice'.

TRAINING BACKGROUND

at first, mika wasn't familiar with the atmosphere around her since most of the trainees are korean and she's still phobia because of her past student life. she scared if they would ignoring and avoiding her like the students. she really doesn't want that to happen again so she just stay with hanako. she had no guts to greet people first.

one day, '02' came to approach and greet her. '02' decided to greet her because she knew mika is japanese and she was curious about that. '02' was introducing herself in japanese while mika in korean. '02' was surprised because mika could speak korean very well. after knowing mika, she found that mika is an interesting and friendly person. since then, they became a friend. they helped each other through training and exchanged skills.

after 3-4 months training, she could adapt with the trainees and communicate with them. she realized that she didn't scared to talk with people anymore. she finally became a different person which is more cheerful and friendly. she glad that they're accepting her like a family.

she admitted that it's a bit hard and tiring during the training but mika thought it was fun and challenging. she loves challenging herself with something new. her life wasn't like before, she had to wake up early in the morning based on the schedules. she also several times skipped her meals because she wanted to focus practicing.

after 1 year and 9 months, she was called to participate in the survival show 'no mercy 2' by mnet. the trainers said she had a potential to debut with her amazing dance skills and great voice. she was so thankful to them for giving her the opportunity to have an experiennce like the previous no mercy trainees. during the show, of course she and other trainees were given hard missions and there's an elimination each episodes. the most sad and hard time for mika when hanako got eliminated on the 3rd mission. she couldn't accepted that because they're promised to debut together and she's crying hardly, so '02' was comforting mika.

then, she finally made it until the final mission. she wasn't expected to make it until the final because she sometimes got critics from the judges with her vocal but she was the top 1 in dance ranking. she has never got the 1st either last place, somehow in the middle. but she once got 3rd place on the 3rd mission where hanako got eliminated. so for the last debut mission, she got team up with '04' and '08'. they performed 'monsta x's stuck and all in' mashup for performance stage and 'ariana grande's problem' for vocal stage.
