PERSONALITY :　despite the fact that sooyoung actually is a mother, that doesn't mean that she hasn't always been motherly her entire life. from her birth to present day, sooyoung has always taken care of others and made sure that everyone around her was happy and healthy. in high school, she was dubbed as a mom because she was the one who always made a big deal about things that only moms would make a big deal about, like eating a lot, bringing a coat for when it gets cold, and more. she's also pretty courageous. growing up as a single mother has made her become pretty brave, since she knows she has to be strong for both herself and her son. there are times where she does get scared, but she moves forward, knowing that she has to preservere on, but really, it's hard. it's tough. it's stressful. but sooyoung has the courage to go on. she is also extremely loyal, kind of like a puppy that always clings onto their owner. if you show that you are a trustworthy person and that you will be there for her, she will do the same. she'd defend you to the end if she needed to, and she always has clear intentions. sooyoung isn't the type to betray others; when she knows that you're a good person, she'll honor you as one, unless if you break her trust. she's also incredibly hardworking, and many can see that with her job as a single mother. she's an incredibly responsible person and is always doing her best, no matter what obstacles are put in her way. in rain, snow, or hail, she'll pull through, and will always give you what you expect. it's not easy being a mom and she does feel stress at times, but sooyoung always keeps an optimistic attitude. there are always shortcomings in life, but she has learned that you have to let go and to see life in a bright light, or else you'll suffer, so sooyoung has changed her thinking from something negative to something bright and optimistic. whenever others are down, it isn't hard for her to cheer them up with her optimistic words, and sooyoung is always cheering herself up with those same words as well. 
however, she is pretty stubborn and thinks that everything she does is right. it's right detrimental because it gets hard to convince her to budge, and practically impossible to fight her about it. sooyoung is always determined to do what she whats to do, even if it might not bode well with others. it gets a little bad when it's coupled with her cluelessness as well. sometimes, it's as if she wasn't even listening or she just didn't understand what someone was saying, but she would ask the dumbest questions ever. it's pretty embarrassing on her part because there are times where she doesn't quite understand some types of common sense, and someone has to explain it to her in very simple terms, making sooyoung look even dumber. her gulliblity also makes her look incredibly dumb, and while she can't help it, it's just ridiculous at times. it could be completely obvious that someone was tricking her, but she wouldn't even get it until well after they revealed that it was a prank. someone could tell her that they met a penguin on their trip to south america, and she would be shocked, making a comment that she'd like to see the penguins in south america. it's silly, but dumb, and sooyoung does get pretty self-conscious on how gullible she is. she also gets quite worrisome, especially when it pertains to her family or friends, but she is constantly being worried for their wellbeing. they could be sleeping for one less hour, and sooyoung would be shocked, begging them to take care of themselves, and making herself look very annoying in the process. while her friends and her family appreciate the worry, they also don't like how annoying she is about their wellbeing, especially when there isn't anything to worry about, but sooyoung never listens when they tell her that they're okay. she's just being a stubborn girl, and they sort of want to strangle her, but they know she means well - they guess. sooyoung is very protective - or extremely overprotective, you could say. when seungjun eats, she worries if he'd choke; when he walks, she worries if he'd fall; when she does anything, she'd be very cautious and exercise prevention. she gets scared when he wants to do something that may go wrong (so practically anything), and sooyoung knows that it may be a little annoying, but he's her baby, and she would never want anything bad to happen to him. indeed, a mom is the hardest job there is.  

BACKGROUND :　hong sooyoung was born on a cold february night, and was the second blessing given to the hong family, just after her older sister. she was raised relatively well, and despite her family's affluence, they had made it clear that being wealthy wasn't everything in life and that money shouldn't be spent all willy-nilly, so she grew up with discipline and financial responsibility ingrained in her. perhaps that's what led her to becoming an accountant in the future, but sooyoung had always been very careful with her money, despite the random splurge of gifts she buys herself every once in a while. she didn't really have an eventful childhood, since it was mostly just full of her bothering her older sister and taking a quick nap throughout her days. she had a few trustworthy friends throughout her school years and relied on her family as her strength. 
however, in her second year of high school, sooyoung had gotten relatively close with a boy that she adored with all of her heart; he was named moon jaehyuk, and he treated her so gently and his eyes were always full of love when he talked to her, and it was just inevitable for them to get together. despite the fact that they've known each other ever since middle school, it was only sooyoung's second year where they truly held mutual feelings for the other. he was sooyoung's first boyfriend, her first kiss, her first love. even though only a small percentage of high school relationships actually last, sooyoung really felt like her relationship with jaehyuk was invincible. they had gotten to know each other over the course of a few years before getting together anyways, and they had a lot of similar interests as well. after about three years, however, sooyoung had found out that she had become pregnant with his child, and it was a shock because she was only 19 and barely about to be 20 years old. she was unsure of how to tell it to her family, the reaction she'd get, the fact that she got pregnant before she got married, coupled with the fact that she lived in a conservative nation as well. she didn't want to lose her child with jaehyuk, since she really felt like she wanted a family with him. after telling her sister and judging her response, sooyoung knew she had to tell her parents; she just had to. so after a long and agonizing day, she spilled and her parents blew up. they were shocked that sooyoung hadn't been safe with contraceptives, and were disappointed in the fact that she had gotten pregnant before she had gotten married. it was safe to say that her parents weren't quite on speaking terms with sooyoung for a while, before they eventually budged, but sooyoung was dealing with other issues. for some reason, jaehyuk had sat her down and told her that he didn't feel like he was father material as of that time, and he just had to pass on having that responsibility. sooyoung was shocked. this was the boy that proposed and promised an eternity with her. this was the boy she seriously thought she was going to be with forever. this was the boy that broke her heart in only five minutes. 
with that said, her and jaehyuk broke up (though they still kept in contact because of the baby, and he also made the offer of giving child support as well), but sooyoung was broken. her parents weren't supportive of her, her ex- fiance dumped her, and now she was lost. of course, after some time and a lot of sleeping and eating, sooyoung felt much better, but her heart was still feeling low. it was up to her to raise this baby, but she just felt so much pressure and stress. how was she going to do it alone? she could cry for days on how hard this was, but as a girl who was seven months pregnant, she was set on looking for a job. her sister had hooked her up with a decent job as a secretary, and sooyoung worked for a bit before giving birth to the biggest blessing of her life - a precious son that she named hong seungjun.

when sooyoung's father had found out that sooyoung was pregnant at 19, he was extremely upset. it was a shock for him, and he had hated her boyfriend/fiance jaehyuk ever since. he thought it was an irresponsible thing to do, especially since sooyoung was still relatively young and had so much to look forward to. he was angry about it for a long time; seungjun isn't that close with his grandpa, a thing that sooyoung wants to change, but jungwoo is very stubborn with his anger. lately, however, he has become slightly nicer to seungjun, but their relationship still hasn't really changed, much to sooyoung's sadness.

▸ mother — hong mira (50) / housewife / intelligent, inquisitive, motherly / seven out of ten
sooyoung's mother was relatively more accepting of sooyoung's pregnancy, but it was still shocking when she found out. though she did react very angrily when she first heard of it, sooyoung's mom became increasingly supportive of it, since she knows firsthand how stressful pregnancies can be. as a mother, she tried to do all she could do to help, and when seungjun was born, mira was there for sooyoung in the hospital. she shared tips with her daughter, and doted on her grandson, already planning out every gift she'll ever give him in his lifetime. she doesn't exactly harbor bad feelings for sooyoung's ex-fiance, but it's safe to say that she doesn't really like him that much, especially after he "quit being a father", or at least in mira's eyes, he did.

▸ sister — hong sooha (25) / accountant / meek, loving, indifferent / eight out of ten
sooha is pretty indifferent to the fact that sooyoung got pregnant at an incredibly young age, and is pretty unconcerned with what her sister does; it's not that she doesn't care about sooyoung, per say, but is rather supportive in a different way. sooyoung is quite aware of that and even though sooha lives a city away, whenever she comes, it's always a party at sooyoung's apartment. plus, sooha has gifts for seungjun every time, so he's always excited for her arrival.

▸ ex-fiance — moon jaehyuk (23) / officeworker / quiet, stubborn, caring / eight out of ten
moon jaehyuk was the man sooyoung had known for almost a decade of her life, and someone who she thought she would be with forever. they had started dating in her second year of high school, and remained together until after seungjun was born. to be honest, jaehyuk was not ready to be a father at all. he said he would adjust, but he never did, and never felt right, so he told sooyoung he couldn't be a family man yet; she understood, and let jaehyuk see his child, but after this ordeal, she wouldn't even dare to bear the though of even considering marrying him again. despite that, they still have a pretty good friendship, and still talk about topics other than seungjun.

▸ best friend — seo eunwoo (22) / cafe manager / loyal, fierce, outspoken / nine out of ten
sooyoung's best friend is literally a firecracker, and she loves it. eunwoo is always there for her best friend, and gets defensive whenever anyone dares to mess with either of them. she's also a fiercely protective person over seungjun, whom she dotes with all of her heart. she cares about the pair a whole lot, and hates moon jaehyuk with all of her body. if it were possible, she would've punched him until he wasn't the biological father of seungjun anymore because she fiercely believed that he didn't deserve such a great son - one that he doesn't even take responsibility for. sure, he sends in money to sooyoung as a form of child support and sees him often, but he wasn't there for sooyoung nor seungjun during the whole ordeal, and eunwoo would never forgive him for that.

WORK STYLE :

▸ because of her amazing work ethic and reliability, sooyoung had managed to land a decent paying job as a secretary at an accounting office that is near the daycare. she works for a relatively large firm, and is the main person in charge of keeping records and maintaining data in the company, and so far, she's doing relatively well. her day starts at ten a.m., after she drops off her precious baby at the daycare, and spends most of the day doing tasks that her boss assigns her. it's not entirely a demanding job, but sooyoung doesn't really enjoy it that much because of how boring and tedious it is, and not to mention how hauntingly quiet it is at her workplace. nobody talks at all, and she feels so suffocated in there. despite that, it's how she gets the bills paid, and how she's able to buy the necessary things that seungjun needs, so sooyoung isn't complaining too much about it... plus, her co-workers are really nice and help her out a lot, so her workplace isn't too bad.

▸ hong seungjun is a baby, and it's not because he actually is one, but rather because he acts clingy towards sooyoung, and if he has the chance to be near his mother, he will take it without hesitation. whenever she has to drop him off at the daycare, it's sometimes a struggle to break seungjun off of sooyoung because he doesn't want to be parted from his favorite person in the whole wide world, so he clings onto her like a koala, but eventually he lets go. seungjun may be young, but he's still very bright and adept. perhaps it is because he spent nine months in the womb and three years around his mother, but he can sense her emotions very quickly and can piece things together very well. he can pick up tensions just as easily, and sometimes it gets a little awkward when he's around his father, but seungjun is very intelligent. despite that, he tends to be a little oblivious towards certain things in his life, such as the frequent absences of his father, who he thinks is just one of his mom's close friends, or the idea that pororo isn't actually real, even though he swears he saw the penguin in real life. but above all, seungjun is loving. he is full of love and passion and every smile he gives brings immense joy to everyone around him. he is an expert in knowing how to give the right cuddles at the right time, and even though he may not be well versed, he does know how to cheer someone up with his infectious giggle. seungjun may be small, but he truly is a lovely boy.

Trivia : 

▸ his favorite teacher is hyungwon because he always gives him candy whenever he sees him, and also, his favorite mommy loves hyungwon, so he does too.
▸ jooheon is his teacher, and although he's not his favorite, seungjun really likes him because his class is fun, and he gets to paint his favorite cartoon characters. 
▸ he's allergic to boring people and peanuts. 
▸ he can talk relatively well, but it's a little harder for him to form sentences that are longer than a few words. 
▸ seungjun is a little bit on the chubbier side, and looks like a michelin man with all of his rolls, but the doctor says that it's just baby fat, and that it'll go away later (hopefully). 
▸ seungjun is extremely afraid of big dogs and cats because he's scared that they'll bite or scratch him, so sooyoung just adopted a rabbit instead. 
▸ if there's one thing seungjun hates the most, it's mushrooms. the young boy cannot stand its bland taste and cries every time he sees it in his food. 
▸ seungjun loves bathtime. he loves pretending that he's swimming in the water, as if he was a fish, and even pretends to be a merman sometimes.
▸ seungjun watches pororo religiously. every time he's at home and he's eating, he'll demand to see his favorite penguin, and even before bedtime, he still wants to watch it.
▸ interestingly enough, seungjun really likes to look at picture books and can spend hours in the library staring at all sorts of books.
▸ over anything else, seungjun's favorite thing is to spend time with his mom. his dad isn't around all too much, and seungjun only sees him once a week, but he spends a lot more time with his mom and they have the best time together.  
▸ he took his mom's maiden name because sooyoung felt that his father wouldn't really be in his life and would be more of a recurring character to him, so it'd be much better if seungjun had taken her name instead.
