He wanted her to become a doctor but after seeing her dedication and passion for it, he let her go for it. Kang Jiyoon, Hwayoung's mother, runs a family restaurant. She has always been there for Hwayoung. During times when Hwayoung got scolded by her father and was being compared to her friends who chose to pursue medicine or law, her mother will cheer her up and tell her that she should follow her heart and make her dream come true. She has an older brother, Kang Daesung of BIG BANG. Her brother has been her inspiration to become a singer and also her role-model. Daesung always took care of his little sister and stood up for her when she was being bullied.
