— just likes any other person her age, nicole craves fun in her life. she's very outgoing, is down to anything and loves everything that makes her excited. she is dubbed the party planner of the group as she's always the one who organizes group plans or parties among her group of friends. because of this, she's always surrounded by her friends and is rarely seen alone. one thing that sets her apart from most people is that she's very passionate about everything she does. If she has started doing something, she won't stop until she finishes it - hence why she didn't leave the company.

nicole is also a genuine person, meaning that what she shows on television is who she really is when there aren't any cameras around. she's also very positive and finds joy in almost everything. she is mostly unaffected by the negative comments she gets sometimes. when the group is feeling down or tired, she's their mood lifter, and often makes the members laugh without even trying.

however, nicole is not perfect. she's quite the mischevous type. she'd often annoy her members and friends and doesn't know when to stop. her usual victim is the maknae and the shortest one of the group. she'd usually squeeze their cheeks, something that doesn't really make them happy. her dorkiness could also be shown through her reactions. at first, pledis wanted to have this elegant, rich kid and cold persona because when she doesn't open , she could pass as a chaebol's daughter, but decided to drop it because as shown in the gifs above, the girl couldn't just keep calm nor contain her excitement towards everything and forgets that she has to protect her image as an idol.

her bedroom is also a mess, with her clothes always scattered around, her bed undone and her disorganized. Whenever her roommate complains about it, she'd just shrug. she is also probably the company's least favorite trainee as she always break things not only in the practice room, but whenever she goes (at music shows, at the dorm, etc...) that they have no choice but to pay it for her.
 

background

— jang taehee, or as she liked to be called now, nicole was born on october 4, 1999 as the youngest in her family (her sister was born five years earlier). she was born in seoul, but due to her engineer father's job offering in london, she had to move to europe at the tender age of 3. naturally, she doesn't really remember anything about korea before that and considers herself more british than korean since she did grow up there. her mother, who was a huge spice girls fan, would often blast their songs during their hiatus on their flat which caused nicole to realize her dream of becoming a singer.

of course, her father didn't allow her at first. she was just ten years old after all when she told them her desire to go back to korea to train. her mother was more than happy to know that her daughter's going to be a singer though, but just like her husband, she thought that her daughter was to young to train. while waiting for the right time, she join some classes to improve both her singing and dancing until she was finally allowed to go to seoul in 2014, together with her youtuber/vlogger older sister who was at that time already 20 years old.
 

so out of all the entertainment companies in korea, why did she choose pledis, you ask? it's all because of nana of after school. she was just 3 when she left the country, but her sister remembers korea clearly. she was a childhood friends with a girl named 'jinah' and actually never lost contact with her. a decade later, jinah was now known as nana and is in a girl group called after school. at the time when she was still deciding in which company she should go, nana sucessfully convinced her to enter pledis. and in just one audition, nicole immediately got accepted for her charms and talent.

— she's currently attending school of performing arts (sopa) but has already decided that she's not entering college (for now, that is)

— she gets really excited on award shows to the point that she starts to sing and dance along to the performers to the point that she forgets that she herself is an idol. she's doesn't even get embarrassed when the camera pans to her
— she is the one who created pledis' 99 liner squad and has plans to invite other idols who were born in the same year to join the group
— the 99' kids, or the squad as she calls it, has their own group chat and would often get together for meals.
— she's the meme of the group, and is known to other kpop fandoms as the meme girl
— she's the type of person who sends ugly pictures of her to group chats
— unlike most idols who wants to go into acting, modelling or mc-ing, nicole wishes that she could have the opportunity to have her own mukbang 
— she's (still) pretty obsessed with bottle flipping, even though that was so last year ago
— if told to stop, she wouldn't stop until she sucessfully flips the bottle and then dabs after it

relationships

— older sister • jang yeonseo (georgina jang) / 23 / youtube/blogger / bossy & confident 
just like any other siblings in the world, georgina and nicole would fight a lot but apart from their childish fights, the two siblings are very close to one another. nicole is forever grateful to her as she accompanied her to seoul despite having a stable life in london. ocassionally, nicole would appear on her youtube videos, less when she debuted though. faceclaim: lee sungkyung
 

— closest sunbae • im jinah (nana) / 25 / idol/actress/model / charming & thoughtful 
out of all the sunbae that she loves in the company, it is nana whom she loves the most. after all she was the one who suggested her to pledis in the first place. her 'mom' as nicole would call her, they are very close to one another even though they rarely meet up these days. nicole even wishes that she could have a photoshoot with her someday. since they don't see each other a lot often like before, nicole gets really excited and loud whenever she sees her.

— 'my favorite pristin member' • im nayoung / 21 / idol / hardworking & caring
"unnie, you know you're my favorite pristin member, right?" is what she always tell her even though she has been caught saying the same thing to basically every pristin member when she wants something from them. but nicole really does adore the older girl. she was one of the oldest and longest trainee and she respects her a lot for it. for whatever reason, nicole really wants to protect her because she always keeps her trouble to herself, even though nayoung is older than her.

— best friend • zhou jieqiong (kyulkyung) / 19 / idol / sweet but crazy 
don't let these two be together, because they will surely make a lot of noise. nicole was very much amused when she met jieqiong because of her perfect korean and is just one of the many people around her who's very suspicious if she's really a foreigner. to nicole, she's the most beautiful girl she has ever seen. aside from her members, nicole is seen doing a lot of fanservice with her.

— most trusted groupmate • chantell lim haitong / 20 / co-member / sweet & considerate
most twoteen members have left the company, but chantell is just one of the oldest/first trainees just like nicole. because they left, even though she tried to hide it and be positive, nicole couldn't help but to feel upset and she could only say it and express her feelings to chantell, who has been there from the start. now that they've debuted, their bond is stronger than ever. nicole would then often beg her to go and see seventeen with her just to annoy the boys and in return, she'd help her with her dancing, knowing that its not her forté. 

— the squad/the 99' liners • yehana (yewon), sungyeon and dino (chan) / idols 
the respresentatives of the year 1999, these four have different charms and personalities. they all are very close to one another. however, poor chan was only forced by nicole to join. "do you know how cool it would be to have a group where all are born in the same year?" she'd tell him repeatedly until he finally agreed to join. in the end, he does enjoy whenever they go out. once she debuts, nicole's goal is to add other idols who were born in the same year to the group.

trainee life  trainee life was tough when she entered pledis in 2014, but nicole, being the friendly girl that she is, made friends easily. rather than the killer schedule or the limited freedom that they had, she was more affected by the fact that her friends leaving the company. she thought that she was going to debut with those girls in the future and that they were going to be together since then, but some of them started to leave, upsetting her. though she was good at hiding it, she did tell it to her closest friends how sad she was and how scared she was that someday she might not able to debut with her friends in the end.
