Translation isn't new for me as I did a few translation projects back then, not for fanfics though.

I know what a translator must do when the job is given. That's why I expect something when I find a translation project to a language that I master.

Well, about fanfics translation... I stopped allowing people to translate my fanfics for some reasons. One of them is because I found out that I couldn't get the tone or feelings which I wanted to deliver thorough my words when my fanfic was written in a different language that I know. 

Not that I doubt the translator but translation isn't just merely changing word by word. But then again, too many changes isn't something I appreciate. Not to mention, the translator who "asks for permission" to change the characters because... "I think this will be more relatable.", "I think this will attract more readers if this has English names as I will post on..." Please don't. You don't want to see kimchi spaghetti and Jongin in a 1D fanfic ever again. Oh well, that's actually a legendary kaisoo fanfic but my point is... fanfics that are written by the authors are something precious which the ficdoms have...the readers in the ficdom appreciate it...it became big because the readers' love so please don't suggest the author to let you change because you "want" it.

Except the authors decide to revamp and make changes, that's a-whole-nother story. We should just respect.

I reflect myself. Although it was my story, it doesn't feel right whenever I remember the moment I changed the characters bec I "wanted" it. Looking back, I didn't think of the ones who supported me the way I should've done.

So for fellow fanfics authors... Please make sure that you make the right decision when a translator comes to you with... reasons. The fanfics are yours but... will the ficdom appreciate if what they love aren't theirs anymore?

If your fanfics are going to be translated to a language you don't master, it isn't bad to track the translator's record: see the previous work and ask if it is possible for you to get the translation of the feedbacks from the readers who read the translated fanfic because from the readers' perspective we can see whether what we want to deliver reaches the readers or not. My translator offered me to translate the feedbacks and that was quite pleasing. But another translator changed the entire story so...
