name — 曺海瓏 [ Cáo Hǎilóng ]

other names

— 조해롱 [ Cho Haerong ] : the direct translation of her Chinese name to Korean

— Roelle Cao : the name she went by when she lived in Columbus

nickname(s)

— Thing 4 : since she is the youngest, she is referred to as Thing 4 by her older siblings. Her oldest brother is Thing 1, her  older sister is Thing 2 and her older brother is Thing 3. The Cao siblings likes to team up whenever they're up to no good, just like Thing 1 and Thing 2 from the cartoon

— Box Smile : a trait which all of the Cao siblings share. Whenever Hailong smiles, form a square-like shape
— Longlong : just a simple annoying baby nickname made by her beloved siblings. Its a more simple cuter version of her name
— Dragon : Hailong's stage presence screams fire. She breathes fire through her dynamic raps, thus gaining her the nickname dragon (or Yong, in Korean). Coincidentally, Long also means dragon in Chinese (her name can literally be translated into Haidragon xD H-Dragon here whaddup ready to rival G-Dragon ~ lel)
—  Laughing Machine : Hailong literally laughs nonstop 25/8

— Cǎihóng Yǎnjīng : it means rainbow eyes in Chinese. Whenever Hailong smiles or laughs, her eyes turn into crinkles, shaped like a rainbow

birthday & age — September 17th, 1998 (18)

birthplace & hometown — Nanjing, Jiangsu province, China & Nanjing, China [1997-2005] - Columbus, Ohio, USA [2006-2011] - Seoul, SK [2012-present]

ethnicity — Chinese

nationality — Chinese - American

language(s)

— Mandarin Chinese : fluent. Its her native tongue

— American English : fluent. Hailong used to live in USA when she was younger. She speaks dual language which are Mandarin and English at home with her family. Her parents did not want her to lose her ability to speak English, therefore she commuunicates in English, alongside Mandarin with her family. Sometimes she ends up mixing the two languages together, saying half in Mandarin and half in English, earning a laughter from her family and anyone who hears her speaking like that
— Korean : semi-fluent. Hailong stutters at times, but she fully understands whenever someone write to her in Hangul or speaks to her in Korean. Yet she has trouble in speaking Korean, her pronounciation a dead giveaway that she's a foreigner, her Chinese accent poking through her Korean. Words get jumbled up in her mind, and it takes sometime for her to form a sentence. She knows what she wants to say, yet she can not find the right word to say so. Learned from Pledis and her everyday life in Korea

face claim — Kim Sejeong [ 1 2 3 ]

Backup — Meng Meiqi  [ 1 2 ]

Pick me, Pick me, Pick me up!

appearance
— A small oval face with thin lips. Captivating warm eyes with black pupils, that seems to twinkle mischieviously. Her eyes hold a deep stare, sharp and unyielding, whenever her personality is toned down. Yet her voice contrats her rigid stare. A gentle breeze-like voice with a soft tone that seems to lull anyone to sleep. Whenever she smiles, her eyes disappears as it turns to rainbows. She has a whisker dimples, or Indian dimples. Basically they are exactly like dimples, except its in below her eyes, creating a small dent in her upper cheeks. It appears whenever she eyesmiles. With her trademark box smile which she shares with her siblings and a cute small button nose, Hailong seems to have a fragile outer appearance. Cute, some might say. Her soft, bouncy dark brown hair cascades past her shoulders, around mid length. Hailong has her forehead covered in long wispy bangs. She is not too tall yet not too short either, and she weighs a standar weight. Slightly more on the slim side. She may not have crazy visuals, but her beauty is there, gentle and subtle. With a blank, yet innocent face Hailong's aura surrounds you like a warm blanket. She has a boyish body posture, leading Highlight's female fans to jokingly call her oppa/gege, and some even complimented that Hailong is handsome,to which she did not mind.

Fashion/style — Hailong is a downright tomboy. She wears feminine clothings once in a blue moon (that is, very rarely). She prefers clothes that aren't attention-seeking and prefers to dress down in simple yet comfortable clothing. She does not mind any colours, but she mostly dresses herself in dark coloured clothings. She has a tendency to not expose her skin too much, so she wears jeans more than shorts. You can usually find Hailong chilling in comfy sweaters, hoodies, sweater vests (yeah like a nerd), jumpers, blouses, t-shirts, plaid shirts, denim shirts, striped shirts, raglan shirts, collared blouses, jeans, sneakers, jackets, turtlenecks, etc. She also likes to layer her clothing. If she is wearing something that is exposing her skin, she would wear something longer under it or wear something on the outside that covers it. Like wearing a shirt under a thin strap shirt, or covering a thin strap shirt with a jacket on the outside, etc. She does not like messy hair so she usually puts her hair up in a neat bun (not like the stylish messy tumblr ones) if not in a ponytail. Sometimes she puts her hair up in a single braid. She always has a hair bubble around her wrist, which she uses, besides for tying her hair, as an entertainment when she's bored. She has a black boyish wrist watch (not the sleek one that men use and looks hella expensive but like the ones kids use, water resistant and the clock part is quite large). She wears round Harry Potter black glasses whenever she's reading, due to her eyes being -1 each.

personality

— Hailong is unintentionally a walking meme. She's hilarious unintentionally, in the things she does, in what she says. She's the type of member to have many meme edits and vines. When she tries to crack a joke, no one laugh. Yet when Hailong does something, other members starts to laugh at her and she'll be the only one confused as to what is going on. She cannot understand puns and it would take a century for her to understand a pun. She has late reactions, and laughs at wrong times. From her facial expressions, she seems to look like an expressive person with various different expressions and reactions. She's cute without trying, but do not let her do aegyo or else you will cringe for your entire life. From her outer appearance she looks helpless and fragile (due to her somewhat adorable appearance) yet she's a beast on stage. She's very tomboyish not only in fashion but in her personality too. She is the opposite of a lady aka unladylike (for reference : EXID's Hani). When she sits her legs tend to part like a guy. She does not eat prettily or laugh prettily. Its kinda bad for her idol image but its mostly hilarious so yep. Like if she laughs she'll open wide and laugh out loud or when she eats she just gobbles the entire food down. Imagine a vacuum cleaner vacuuming things up. Yep that's the mental image of how Hailong eats. She never lets out left food, and will finish it regardless whether it was delicious or not. Its due to her grandparents being farmers, so she cannot stand to see her grandparents' hard work being wasted around like that. She is quite bold and would be the first person to try things. Contrasting her gentle and cautious behaviour, sometimes Hailong lets loose and her recklessness takes over. After all, she is a child at heart. Whenever Highlight is faced a challenge and none of the members step up, Hailong would be the first to do so. She can't bear to see her jiejies/unnies/dongsaengs gets sacrificed/tries the challenge first. So she becomes bold for once and steps up, volunteer, in their position. (It goes well for variety shows. If the members do not want to do the challenge/task yet the hosts/production crew forces them to do so, Hailong would be the one to do it instead. But it doesn't always have to be for variety). Living without her parents turned her wise beyond her years. She is also a very independent and mature person from a young age. Eventhough she might be the future FOTG, she does not like to be in the spotlight.Whenever she has solo schedules, she never forgets to mention Highlight and her fellow members, she would tirelessy promote Highlight happily whenever she has the chance in her schedules. She may not have crazy visuals but there is something about Hailong that makes her stand out. She is softspoken and gentle. She cares for the people she holds close in her heart deeply. She cares in subtle little ways, like fetching a water bottle for her members without them asking, always reminding her members to not skip meals and stay hydrated, fixing her fellow members' blanket whenever it has fallen off in their deep slumber. She is not the typical happy virus or moodmaker. Rather, she's an underrated member who stands out for her vibrance, and her dynamic stage presence. Her underratedness comes from her guarded and quiet aura, thus she is usually unnoticed by some. Even when she tries to crack a joke here and be more lively, people doesn't really look her way. Thus, in her performance, she gives its her all, becoming more dynamic than usual because she feels the need to show that she is not useless. (reference : I am not sure if this is correct but based on my opinion, think of BTS' Jin and Jhope, Seventeen's Jun and Seungkwan. Jin, his amazing vocal skills and awkward self. Jhope, his dancing abilities and literally sunshine personality. Yet people tend to look at Jungkook and Taehyung more, if you can relate. Jun, his visual and hidden talents. Seungkwan, a sassy king with beautiful vocals. They are lowkey the center of attention, due to visual and vocal respectively. Yet why is it, no matter how much the two tries to put effort in their presence, people tend to look at Mingyu more? [I am so sorry if I have offended you or anyone else here T-T]). Hailong has a positive outlook in life, and she tends to look on the good side of people, believing that there is a good in every person, no matter how horrible they are.

She can be rather clumsy at times. She also tends to space out often, so you literally have to smack her upside the head to make sure her soul is still at earth. Her vacant eyes is a clear sign that her soul has not yet arrived at her body. Sometimes Hailong forgets that her feet is still attached to the ground, and her head in the clouds, her imagination flies away. She is a neat and detailed person. It slightly contrasts with her clumsiness but yep. The type of member to wake up at dawn to vacuum her dorm around noisily and other members will wake up and look at her like wtf Hailong. She may not have a high IQ but her love of novels and reading in general expanded her vocabulary so she likes to use words that aren't normally used (for reference : Rapmonster BTS). Despite having the ability to speak, write and understand English she does not understand slangs. She has a knack for understanding people silently. She can analyze people well. She has a way of looking into people and observing them, figuring out the way they are hence she is good in whispering game or guessing game. She has a way with words thus she is brilliant in anything to do with language. She can be stubborn at times. She does not like to bother people, thus she keeps her burdens to herself, not wanting to ask for help when she clearly needs it. Her headstrong mind believes that if she asks for help, she might trouble the person who is helping her, thus Hailong is determined to things by herself, when clearly she needs to learn that asking for help is okay. Sometimes she can be reckless, like forcing herself beyond her limits when she's practicing, resulting in her health crashing. How does one, an overcautious person, can be reckless at times? That is, when she is pushed beyond her limit. Like a ticking bomb, after enduring for quite sometime, it will always end up exploding. Humans are just like ticking bomb. And Hailong is a human. There is only so much she can hold, before she recklessly voices out whatever she has been holding in her heart and in her mind. Sure, she is the type of person to rarely tells others how she feels and would rather keep it to herself than trouble people, but sometimes, doesn't keeping things to yourself becomes very tiring? After her recklessness, Hailong would immediately apologize and admits that she's at fault. She is not one to wait for the other to apologize. Whenever she's not her goofy self or when she's on quiet mode, she has this faraway look in her eyes and people like to misjudge her as cold and reserved when she's really not. Who knows what she might be thinking (I say she's probably thinking about the amount of food left in Highlight's dorm). Eventhough she has this happy and vibrant vibe to her, she is quite awkward and a bit reserved. Her awkwardness is visible when she desperately tries to find another topic to talk about besides the weather. You can literally see her internally cringing at her choice of words when replying to someone. Her lack of social skills made her inexperienced in the socializing department. Despite her somewhat carefree and hilarious nature, under all that she's a little quiet. She tries her best in working with groups but she has a hard time trying to fit in. She is more a lone wolf. She does not have a lot of friends, rather she has close ones. Once Hailong opens up to you, she will be your lifetime companion. She writes better than she speaks (exclude rapping. rapping is probably one of the best ways she can do in expressing herself). She stutter at times which can be funny. She canot express herself, what she's feeling, well to others. She understands people but people don't understand her completely. She looks down on herself, viewing her skills as nothing compared to her members thus she always works hard in improving herself. Since Hailong is a foreigner, she pays attention to Korea's rules, and she is very very polite to the point she becomes stiff. Language and her own self is a barrier for her so she cannot express herself well, rather she expresses herself from the outside such as her expressions and she spontaneously burst in her own vivid and weird way at random times. Hailong is quite guarded and overcautious. She might look fine on the outside but she's aware and alert of things. She is overcautious in things, she's always afraid that one small mistake Luminous makes is due to herself.  The type of person to ask "Are you sure?" over and over again, as if she's afraid of the outcome. She likes to analyze situations, and predict what will the outcome be. She has a hint of weirdness, like suddenly asking random questions, blurting out random facts, starts jamming to a song suddenly at wrong moments, etc. She's not a competitive type of person, and would not mind and accept whether she won or lost. Hailong does not like to create misunderstandings, and would be the first person to apologize. She would even apologize even if it was not her fault. Deep down she's quite passive and a little pessimistic. Hailong does not mind whenever people hate her, saying that it should be the visual or another member of Higlight instead of her appearing in shows. Hate comments does hurt her, but she would put on a brave and an unaffected face. As long as its not the Highlight girls they are making fun of, she is fine with herself being the subject of mockery. For her to become so bold and dynamic on stage, she has to first pass her anxiousness. Of course, being nervous and anxious is a normal thing. But Hailong's tendency to overthink things just because she wants to plan ahead and analyze situations around her, caused her to be more careful in her actions, more guarded, and thus she herself becomes anxious at times. She is anxious in her skills, believing that she is never enough. My members are way better than I am, she thinks. There are times though, where Hailong lets loose her goofy and innocently, unintentionally dumb personality.

background
— Cao Hailong was born in Nanjing, China to a family with 3 older siblings. From the start she had always been a happy giggly baby. She did not cry much but when she laughs its as if the Cao household is experiencing an earthquake. She was a lively kid around those whom she is familiar with, but turns into a shy wallflower when meeting with new people. She has a peculiar tint to her personality, a curius little girl who simply can't shut and asks random strange questions. Hailong is very close to her siblings. She plays with them more often than she plays with other neighbourhood kids. She seems to get along well with her oldest gege, who seems to share similar personality traits as herself. Her brave and tough jiejie meanwhile was someone she admires and hopes to become in the future. And the gege who closest to her in age, was someone she constantly bickers and fights with. The Cao siblings share an unbreakable bond. Eventhough the four of them might kill each other ruthlessly, they always have each other's backs and looks out for one another.  At school, Hailong was a hardworking student who did not talk much in class. Despite that, she is a polite and friendly person, and would greet back anyone who greets her. Hailong's parents decided to enroll her to take wushu lessons, a Chinese art of self defence. Hailong's neverending bursting energy needs to be toned down and chanelled, so her parents picked wushu. They deem it useful so their clumsy daughter could learn how to protect herself in the future. Hailong was five at that time. She enjoyed wushu, especially in learning how to kick and beat people up. As if that was not enough, Hailong took a sudden interest in music, after witnessing an orchestra in her TV. Originally Hailong wanted to try playing the bass, but her parents thought that she was too young to learn bass and viewed piano more suitable for Hailong. She did not complained, and accepted happily. She was also taught how to play the guzheng, a traditional Chinese music instrument, by her grandparents. Her grandparents lived in a village area outside of the metropolitan cities in China. They were retired farmers whom Hailong adores. The Cao family usually spends their vacation to the countryside, visiting the Cao grandparents and taking a break from their city life. Hailong lived fairly stable throughout the years. Her family was not too rich yet not too poor either, just about right. From the start she was raised to be an independent girl with  a good nature by her parents. They were the ones who taught her that there is a good in every person. Despite Hailong's parents being busy and working until very late at night, they made sure to spend quality time with their children. Hailong grew up wonderfully. As years pass by, Hailong's parents became a bit busy than before. But not too busy until the point that the neglected their own kids. In short, Hailong's parents had always been busy. Parents who worked until late at night. They spend time with their kids. Regardless of her parents' work, Hailong appreciates what her parents has done. If not for them, she would not have become the person she is. A few years later, the Cao family moved to Columbus, USA due to Hailong's father's work, stationing him in a new department thus requiring him to work overseas.

Hailong took quite some time to adapt with the American hustle life. Here, she was called Roelle. Hailong was not too fluent in English back then, and she struggled to fit in and blend with her classmates. Some were kind and friendly to her, while some others were neutral. Nevertheless they welcomed Hailong and treated her as their own. Months of adapting finally paid as Hailong feels herself settling to her new environment. She was grasping the English language now, being able to be fluent in it. Hailong missed playing her piano and wants to do wushu again, so her parents continued her lessons by enrolling her to a piano and wushu classes in USA. Hailong was a young girl quick to find new interest, so she  decided to take one more lesson. Cello classes. Hailong had always been a fan of classical music, she loves how soothing and relaxing the music is, deep as if its directly having a conversation with your soul. Hailong's daily life usually consists of going to school and attend her weekly piano, wushu and cello classes each week. At her school, Hailong finds herself being interested in basketball. She seems to open up more than before, and talks a bit more. She still is quiet, yet not as quiet as before. Her sudden found interest for basketball was not super major, yet its not just a temporary interest either. She was serious in basketball, would get up and practice again even if she experienced injuries due to basketball.  This is where she grew to learn that she must not give up and fight on. Beside basketball, Hailong was also part of her school's swimming team. Why she decided to join? Maybe out of pure curiosity and interest. Basketball helped her to not become a quitter easily, while in swimming Hailong learns the art of endurance and how stable and constant direction towards something can achieve good results. Basketball and swimming are one of her newfound interests, but Hailong mainly leans towards her piano, cello and wushu classes. She does participate with her basketball and swimming team mates in a few competitions. She wasn't a star player, a key player or anything but her skills are not to be regarded lowly. She is around average, slightly a bit above it but that is all. Whenever Hailong is fed up with herself or life in general, a simple swim or shooting some hoops in the morning helps clear her mind. Life was okay for Hailong. A few years later, the Cao family had to move again. This time to Seoul. Its also due to her father's work. Leaving Columbus behind was hard for Hailong. She was just adapting and she suddenly had to move again. Goodbye Roelle, hello Haerong.

In Korea, Hailong introduces herself as Hailong, but since it was hard for Koreans to pronounce her name with Chinese pronounciation, they called her name translated in Korean instead, Haerong. Moving again required time to adapt to another new environment, and its going to take some time again for Hailong to be able to settle down. Her Korean classmates were not as kind as her classmates back in the USA. They did welcome her, some tried to interact with her but that's about it. Hailong feels left out, lonely at class. But she did not mind though, at least she had her family. Hailong was a reserved student in class, she did not make many friends due to the language barrier, and her own self feeling like she did not belong. Hailong knew that eventhough her classmates were lukewarm and neutral to her, albeit some were nice to her, she could not help but feel her heart shatter when she heard a whisper or two about herself. How she was viewed as cold and conceited, how her Korean pronounciations was silently mocked. Her classmates did not bully her, only whisper about things behind her back. Hailong tried to make herself look unaffected on the outside, but words do sting. Here in Korea, Hailong still continued her piano, cello and wushu lessons. Slowly, little by little, Hailong's Korean improved.

A year later, Hailong was scouted by a Pledis represantive while she was out eating with her siblings. The represantive can see, past Hailong's hidden gentle visual, that she has great potential in the future. She was surprised and baffled. Yet she accepted the contact card the representative gave her. Hailong knew Kpop music and she loved Korean ballads, yet she knew little of the training system in Korea. Looking up about trainees and kpop groups on the internet, Hailong realized how a simple card given to her by the representative might be a new open doorway for her, another interest she might take a liking to. Her siblings supported her decision in auditioning, but her parents disapproved. They did not want their daughter to come home exhausted past midnight everyday, and they did not want her education to crash down. After quite a dilemma, Hailong's parents finally allowed her to audition. They knew that once something interests Hailong, she will not stop to pursue it. They supported her, yet were worried for her because once you signed a contract from hell. Nevertheless, they cheered Hailong on. Hailong finally auditioned to Pledis, and was accepted. Another year has passed. Hailong's father was called back by his company to return to China. Hailong had the option of quitting Pledis and return to her life back in China. Yet she decided to stay in Korea, not due to her being under a trainee contract but her own self falling in love with Korea and its culture, and her own will to survive and make through whatever hardships she will face in Korea. Hailong's geges and jiejie decided to stay in Korea too, having found a job and currently pursuing education. It was a tearful goodbye. Hailong cried a tsunami as she hugged her parents goodbye. The Cao parents reminded Hailong not to give up and eat properly. They told her to pursue her education no matter what. With her parents' messages in her mind, Hailong promised to do as her parents say. Hailong remembered when she was younger, her parents were less busier and therefore often played with her. Her parents knew that they might and will be busy in their work, so from an early age, her parents taught her and her siblings to be independent and learn how to do things by themselves. Besides, teaching the Cao siblings on how to become independent in an early age is a good practice for them to grow up more maturely. The times her parents spend with her, her parents tirelessly taught her daily life lessons. Years pass and her parents became busier than usual. Hailong treasured the times her parents made for her and her siblings. Hailong applied her parents' lessons to her life.

Hailong and her siblings are alone in a foreign country. With their parents not by their side, they relied on each other. Her oldest gege and jiejie went to apply for jobs, and her 2nd oldest gege was a scholarship student in a prestigious university. Hailong did not want to bother her siblings, who worked hard to keep the four of them well and in check. So Hailong became independent, relying on herself. She wanted to get a job but was prohibited by her siblings. They prefer for Hailong to just be a student and focus on her studies. Hailong's everyday life consists of school and practice, and occasionally helping her siblings out in their jobs. It has been going like that for a few years. The Cao siblings didn't have any major problems throughout their living in Korea. They may look like they rely on each other, but they are not too dependent on each other either. Moving around, and being in a country where her parents are not around, Hailong grew up to be mature quickly. Her siblings each has their own thing to do, and Hailong understands how busy they can get. The Cao siblings shares somewhat a peace treaty, a mutual understanding. They each did their own activities, but not neglecting each other. Kunxing, Xiaoliu, Zicheng and Hailong does check on each other from time to time (with the exception of Zicheng because he's too lazy to do so. But he does asks on his wellbeings at times). When they all arrived home, they always asked how each other's days went by. Hailong did not bother her older siblings too much if she can handle her own problems by herself. Hailong's siblings does treat her and take her out from time to time, but it does not mean that they spoiled her. Now that they live in a country where their parents are not in, Hailong's older siblings bcomes somehow her guides. They would teach her what's right and what's wrong. If she's at fault, she has to face the consequences. They gave her punishments like taking away her gadgets and stuff when its examination month/week. Hailong, being the quiet person she is who does not like to trouble other people, listened and obeyed. Though occasionally she has her random streaks of being a rebel (its normal, afterall) she followed what her older siblings taught her. Hailong is still the baby sister at heart, but her siblings know that she is quite capable of taking care of herself. Being the baby sister, Hailong does get shade and diss thrown her way, and her older siblings like to provoke her and make fun out of her to no end, but she knows they mean well. The Cao siblings are closely glued together, but they know when one can stand up on its own two feet, including Hailong. Throughout the day each of them are busy doing their own things, but when they are at home, that is where they becomes themselves.

family —

▪ Cao Luchen and Cao Qimei | Parents | employee  of an oil company and a pharmacist | 50

Her beloved parents, the ones who tirelessly work from day to night. Hailong looked like her mother yet has her father's traits. Gentle, wacky and loving. Luchen was a hardworking man who goes home quite late at night. There's never a week without him going on a business trip. Despite his busy work, he makes sure to spend some time with his children, ask them how their day is going. He's like an old grizzly bear who keeps on insisting that he is still 17 years old #inyourdreamsoldman. Hailong loves to goof around with her father, and together the both of them like to jam to classical music. Hailong's father is usually the one who accompanies her to her cello & piano recitals. He's also the one who taught Hailong how to cook (to which she always failed). He's stern at times too, telling Hailong to stop being a lazy and clean her room, wash the dishes, etc. He encouraged Hailong on whenever she is feeling down. Qimei was more on the loud side with a beautiful yet tough lady appearance. Sometimes Qimei is like Hailong's older sister instead. Qimei would cheer the loudest and basically be a human version of a megaphone whenever she is attending Hailong's wushu, basket and swimming competitions (leading Hailong to become dead embarrassed but happy on the inside). She is also strict with Hailong. She would tell Hailong to eat her greens, and makes sure that Hailong grows up healthily. Hailong can never get away from her mother, her mother always know what food Hailong has been eating. Whenever Hailong's parents videocall/facetime Hailong daily she would know whenever Hailong has been eating junk food and proceeds to nag her for hours from 987654321 miles away. Her parents occasionally visit the Cao siblings in Korea, and always send montly allowance money for their living expenses. Hailong likes to facetime her parents whenever she's on practice break. Just looking and hearing her parets voice healed her heart, and would lift her spirits up again. Her parents are her anchors in a rough sea.

▪ Cao Kunxing | oldest brother | employee of a small company | 26

The quiet gege. He doesn't talk much and is rarely seen throughout the day due to his job, and goes home late. He is the head of sibling, meaning he is in charge of the money around the household the Cao siblings reside in, all that. Being the oldest, he took up a big responsibiliy. He would wake Hailong up for school, make her lunch or give her lunch money, remind her to stop eating junk food in her practice break and not to diet too harshly. He is similar to Hailong, except he is more sociable. Whenever she is sick due to forcing herself in her practice, he would be the one to take care of her (and proceeds to nag her for 1 hour before making a speech about the importance of eating for another hour). Surpisingly, he knows how to cook well. He never allowed Hailong from entering his territory (aka his beloved kitchen) except when she's baking pancakes. It was due to an incident when Hailong nearly burned the entire kitchen down so..yep. If you get Kunxing out of his shell, you'll find that he is an interesting person. He is the 2nd victim after Zicheng to be dragged and forced by Hailong to be her move marathon partner. He sighs, not knowing what to di with Hailong's antics. With a huge , one might question how the oldest and youngest interact without being awkward. Well at times, it does  get awkward. Until the two simulatenously crack up after realizing how awkward they are. The two of them don't even look like they are 8 years apart. They are more like siblings who are close to each other's age when they are around each other. Kunxing doesn't treat Hailong like a baby and spoil her, he treats her like a grownup and helps her in being able to stand on her own two feet. Hailong doesn't view Kunxing as the quiet gege who can be scary and is 8 years apart, she treats him as if he's her friend, and even has the nerve to make fun out of him (jokingly). They have an easygoing sibling relationship. Mostly about Kunxing setting up ground rules for Hailong to follow and if she obeys, Kunxing is proud of her. If she disobeys, he will not hesitate to make her face her consequences. He's an awesome cook and is in charge of the meals, making sure the Cao siblings are well fed. Kunxing is the first person Hailong would approach whenever she finished practicing, and she would cheekily ask him to make her lamb skewers, or any food, and proceeds to annoy him until he does. Kunxing would cook for Hailong no matter what time, even if it was 2 AM in the night. Kunxing disapproves heavily on junk food, and he feels down whenever his cookings are not appreciated (don't worry, Hailong here ready to gobble and vacuum her gege's delicious food up!). He worries for Hailong due to knowing how strict trainees' diets can get, and would remind Hailong daily to stay hydrated and eat healthy food. He is the first out of his siblings to get a job. Kunxing turns into a strict and literally scary authorative figure and is restless whenever Hailong does not arrive home at her usual time (which is around midnight). He would call her and facetime her, asking whether she has eaten or not, how is she doing, whether she went to the minimarket near Pledis again and eats ramen there, etc. He also knows, or can feel, whenever Hailong is feeling down and would tell her to spill the burdens she's holding. He too, shares Hailong's ability in being able to sense when someone is hiding something.

▪ Cao Xiaoliu | older sister | university student, part-time job as a cafe waitress | 24

Hailong's older sister. From the looks of it, her sister looks like a bad girl. When really she's warm and easygoing. Xiaoliu is a teeny bit different compared to Hailong. She is easygoing, sociable, warm. Yet she can be tough when she wants to. She is also 2nd in command and is in charge whenever Kunxing's not around. She's the 2nd person who constantly asks Hailong's whereabouts every 5 minutes, and would take away her gadgets and ban her from eating her beloved dumplings if she was lazy in doing her chores or stayed up late again due to reading novels/comics or watching kdramas. The only common trait the two of them share are their weirdness. Xiaoliu and Hailonng does have a lowkey weird side, like Hailong randomly talks in an alien language and Xiaoliu joins in, and the two communicated shamelessly in their own..odd language (leading the boys to believe that the two girls has been possessed). Xiaoliu is the one who would often take Hailong to school and to Pledis. But now that Hailong has grown up, she prefers to go to school & Pledis by herself. Despite that Xiaoliu occasionally takes and also sometimes picks Hailong up from practice. The two of them would often go and eat street food together and play in arcades or simply have a girls day out. Hailong would  usually let out what she's feeling to Xiaoliu, her worries in her training, her social life at school, etc. Xiaoliu would be there for her, advicing her and cheering her up. Xiaoliu cares for her siblings deeply. She works in a cafe as a part-time waitress. Hailong would usually visit her sister in her cafe before going to Pledis. There she would receive a free drink and once in a while a free dessert (courtesy of Xiaoliu's kind boss). Xiaoliu is currently in university, majoring in architecture. Xiaoliu, just like her mother, was also Hailong's number 1 fangirl. She would constantly cheer Hailong from afar whenever she has her monthly evaluations. It hurts Xiaoliu to know that sometimes Hailong keeps her burdens to herself, and wishes for Hailong to be more open. The Cao siblings are lowkey protective of each other. Living in a foreign country alone for a few years turned them to create a spiritual bond, as if they were telepathic and can read each other's minds. Sometimes Hailong wishes that Xiaoliu's easygoing and relaxing vibe can rub on her. She wants to be able to freely associate with anyone just like her sister. Yet Xiaoliu reminds her that she should be herself. Xiaoliu is the first person who gets to hear and listen to Hailong rapping and her mixtapes, since Hailong is afraid that if she showed it to Kunxing he might've judged her and if she shows it to Zicheng there's no doubt he would make fun of Hailong's rapping, telling her she's like a drunk grandpa who thinks he is Gdragon. So she shows it to Xiaoliu instead, who would give her a thumbs-up and warmly praise her, before snickering and telling her that what Zicheng said might be correct.

▪ Cao Zicheng | older brother | university student | 21

Zicheng is the closest in age with Hailong, therefore she usually bickers the most with Zicheng out of her siblings. The fight ranges from calling each other a variety of names, to the extent of physical fighting (such as pulling each other's hair, slapping and hitting each other like little kids). They're basically little kids stuck in a grown up's body (if Zicheng and Hailong are considered grown up). Hailong is pretty mature but when she's around Zicheng, she has the mind and antics as a 5 years old. Zicheng is more colder, creating a look of ice prince. Its not that he hates Hailong, its just that that's the way he is. He shares Hailong's quiet personality, but he is quiet because he feels like there is no need to waste a huge amount of energy for useless things. Yet when Hailong does dare to provoke him, all hell breaks loose. (ex : BTS' Suga. VIXX's Leo). Zicheng's intelligence made him have the chance to earn a scholarship to a prestigious university. He is currently majoring in mechanical engineering and minoring in computer programming. He would constantly tease Hailong whenever she has trouble or problems with her assignments and would refuse to help Hailong, telling her that she should not give up that easily. And lowkey making fun of her for being stupid. But of course in the end, he would try and help Hailong in her homework anyways (eventhough he would deny and say that he purely helped her because her stupidity is annoying him). Hailong constantly teases him, and Zicheng would back 2x the sarcasm. 2x more meaner. He makes fun of Hailong's hidden love for kdramas, telling her that Kdramas are a waste of time and Hailong is even more useless for watching it, but Hailong herself found Zicheng squealing while watching a kdrama secretly (again he stubbornly denies. "That wasn't me, stupid. You clearly didn't look right" he would say with a little force). The two are like Tom and Jerry. Not a single day would pass by without the two of them making up better comebacks and insults at each other. Zicheng is Hailong's lamb skewer partner and the two would go out and eat lamb skewers together, or explore good restaurants to eat at (more like Hailong forced and dragged Zicheng out of his beloved bed, claiming that his laziness is starting to rub on her and she's not having it). Ever since Hailong found out that Zicheng is a lowkey die-hard kdrama fan (and a potential otaku), she would drag him to watch kdramas with her. Of course this leads to Zicheng hiding somewhere and locking himself up (this proves as a failure because Hailong miraculously hauls his to her laptop and threatens him to watch with her or else). Zicheng is the last and final option for help whenever Kunxing and Xiaoliu cannot pick up or take Hailong to her school or practice. Zicheng might be the gege that Hailong constantly bickers with, but he's the one who Hailong would go first whenever she feels her surfaces crack and her feelings about to explode. Zicheng is deep down touched and surprised. She still comes to him even when he is cold towards her (Hailong understands him, and know that he does mean well). He's also tthankful that Hailong opens up to him. He hates to think that she is suffering alone behind her smile. He might hate to admit it, but he truly cares for Hailong and would punch the living daylights of anyone who hurt her cannot bear to see her distresed. Zicheng would comfort Hailong, and in turn he too would share his problems with her. They might not hesitate to push each other off the cliff if they were given the chance. Yet they have each other's backs, and would come to each other's rescue.

friends —

▪ Wen Junhui, Xu Minghao, Zhou Jieqiong | fellow Chinese trainees | members of Seventeen and Pristin | 20, 19, 18

Being a Chinese herself, Hailong was able to connect with the Chinese line of Pledis (lets just say Mingming was too mysterious for her to befriend..something like that). She first befriended Jieqiong, whom she admires from afar. The girl has extraordinary visuals and a graceful body, with a contrasting hilarious personality. Hailong found herself adoring Jieqiong, and would often get dance and vocal lessons from her. She later met Minghao and Junhui. Minghao is an adorable cinnamon bun whose self defence skills rivals that of Hailong. The two would occasionally duel (in a joking way) using brooms as swords and would spin, turn and kick around the practice room as if it was a setting from a dynasty centuries ago. Minghao would try to teach her b-boying, and Hailong would try and teach him rap. Lets just say the two of them failed in teaching each other. Junhui was a quiet savage cutie whom Hailong can't help but chuckle at. She shares his reserved nature, and would often talk to him to make sure he does not feel left out. Even when the trio debuted, the four of them still contact each other from time to time and occasionally hang out.

▪ Hansol Vernon Chwe, Hong Jisoo, Kyla Massie, Bae Sungyeon  | fellow English-speaking trainees | members of Seventeen and Pristin | 19, 21, 15, 17

Hailong is not as close to the English speaking line as she is as close with the Chinese line, but nevertheless she would talk to them in English oftenly. Hailong would try to improve and learn Korean from these four. Hailong was a bit more closer to Kyla and Seungyeon than Vernon and Jisoo. Kyla was Hailong's rap partner, and the duo would often practice their rapping together. They would also jam to the latest western songs. Seungyeon was a small cutie whom Hailong has a soft spot for. The younger girl would often help Hailong in improving her vocals, and Hailong joking teaches her how to rap. Occasionally Hailong would greet and talk to Vernon and Jisoo. Once in a while the three of them would jam to the latest western songs and dab together.

trainee years — 4 years

trainee life

— Being a trainee, especially a foreign trainee in a foreign country was not a piece of cake. To begin with, Hailong only had a limited knowledge to kpop. Despite liking Kpop music and its ballads, she was still pretty clueless when it comes to the training system. She was surprised when she lived her first early trainee life. It took her a few months to be able to finally settle down and keep up with the trainee life and school. Hailong did not have any previous lessons in singing, dancing or rapping. The talents she has were her self defence ability and her skill in playing musical instruments. She auditioned singing and dancing averagely. But suprisingly, she was accepted. Hailong originally wanted to try being a vocalist, but after stumbling upon mixtapes, she soon took an interest in rapping. She came to like rapping sometime after she became a trainee. Rapping was like a breath of fresh air to her, so she decides to pursue rapping more. Hailong likes the way raps affects people just as how vocals do. And rapping takes just as much energy as doing high notes due to having to keep up with the beat. The way the words are spit out, and can contain different meanings. It perks up Hailong's interest. And once that girl got a hold of something, she pursues it constantly. It was hard at first. To try and expand a talent which you suddenly discovered and not have all these years. Hailong's training was average and stable at first, showing no huge progress. In Pledis, Hailong made friends to people that she clicks with. The rest, she would politely greet them back whenever they greet her. She was sort of lonely in Pledis, despite having close friends. Hailong was not used to interacting, let it be to an individual or a group. She was rather awkward in socializing, so usually socialize with the people she's familiar with. Hailong originally auditioned because she wanted to try (trying won't hurt right?). She never thought that she would actually be accepted. For around a year, Hailong trained without a purpose. She kept on training, because she is a trainee, and she must train.  Around her 2nd year of training, she went into a slump. Her rapping skills, a newfound interest in which she hopes to pursue, was progressing rather slowly. Some Pledis trainees even predicted that the Chinese girl won't even last another week. Her second year of her training was a downfall, you could say. Hailong did not improve as much as she hoped to be. Her family was by her side, constantly cheering and encouraging her on. Not wanting to disappoint her family, Hailong continued to practice on. At her third year is where she skyrocketed. Hailong hold on to the hope that one day she might debut. Previously, Hailong had no hopes of debuting and predicted that she would debut around 6 years later, and Hailong did believe what the not nice things the trainees would say behind her back. What if she truly cannot stand the hardships of being a trainee? Yet she did not want to give up, she did not want to quit Pledis. Under her collapsing hope was a burning desire, a passion which was slowly turning bigger. If Hailong would not stand to be a trainee, she would have quit from a long time ago. That is when she realized that maybe, she does want to debut after all. She does want to share her expressive raps, her efforts. Her hopes were revived. Hailong trained harder, and she started to try and compose, write and produce her own raps and mixtapes, a thing she wanted to try for a long time but never had the confident to. Slowly, Hailong's talents improved tremendously. She's now able to experiment in freestyle raps. Her rapping skills improved tremendously, and her dancing and vocal skills are not as bad as before. Hailong is slowly improving, her talents slowly expanding, and herself becoming a better person than she was before.

comments/suggestions — I overdosed on gifs...Wow this is such a long- app. Apologies for my ramblings. If you are confused why Hailong has a Korean name, its just like Pinky Pristin. Its her Chinese name translated into Korean hangul (like Pinky Pristion. Zhou Jieqiong = Joo Kyulkyung). And about the friends part, I know its supposed to be the maximum of 5, but Hailong is not too close with all of them, so I hope that is alright? She's not the best of friends with all of them so I put in more than 5..but she's slightly more closer to the girls and the China line. I don't know how to change the background colour so I am sorry T_T. I realize her personality contains a lot of contrats yikes..I hoped I explained her personality well? And contrasting personality traits can happen because we are a human with two sides so...yep. And before I go, tell me what comes after G-Dragon? H-Dragon, that's who! #bye #iamsocringey #whateven (since in the alphabet, H is after G and so..yep #ifailedmyjokesesxcusemewhileijumpoffacliff)
