It’s been a long time I didn’t put my playlist to shuffle mode and it was constantly in BIGBANG or Daesung folder, repeating whenever I was working. However tonight I was talking with a friend, a really old friend who was the reason behind my motivation to learn Korean at the time. Yes I have known Daesung (only Daesung, note it, not even BIGBANG) at that time, but it never crossed in my mind that I needed to learn Korean until that friend talked in Korean in front of me and I quickly assumed that that certain person talked about me in front of me instead talking behind me.

Then it happened.

I was crazy about Daesung at that time, crazy about Running Man, crazy about Family Outing and decided to learn Korean. Dramas OSTs filled my mp3 players because drama was one of the thing that will help me to learn pronunciation. One thing lead to another and let’s say I listened to all kind of group –name the group and I will easily pick my favorite(s). Until now actually. If I could say, VIPs are the most flexible fandom out there. If BB members don’t have activities, they will disguised themselves, easily be in another fandom, but when BIGBANG comeback, they will open their mask and be a VIP must be: fully support BIGBANG.

Back to this friend.

She is a fan of SM artist but she never narrows her music just to SM artists. She hears good music and I forever be thankful about that. We easily chatted about what’s hot in South Korea, it’s education, the music, the culture and we would compare it to Japan (as I know more about Japan than South Korea). Going to karaoke was a fun thing to do because we would sing various songs instead of me singing only Daesung’s part or her singing EXO, SUJU or SNSD (despite me not knowing all the members)

We would sing anything.

And somehow putting my music folders in shuffles reminds me of her, my Oppa and all old memories surged back, tears escaped from my eyes in this very midnight.

I really want to share some of songs that I love the most (other than BIGBANG and YG Artist ffs –I love them so much) and the reason why. Some of it could make me bawling my eyes out, some of them could make me smiling all day.

And here they are:

1. Peter Pan – EXO

I pick my favorites based on how distinct their voices in a song and this very song, making me asked about the owner who sang the opening, and D.O easily gets in my favorite list (despite of me memorizing the other members just on this very month) Peter Pan isn’t their main track but I really love the lyric, and I can say Peter Pan is my favorite from EXO.

It’s kind of confession song, but not really. I love the grand feeling I get every time I hear this song and the sweetness in the lyric just enough to make me cry in happiness :) Oh the vocal line of EXO really stands out like in What is Love. However I LOVE PETER PAN SO MUCH! As I reached this part, Peter Pan has been played for 15 times :))

2. June’s Dream & Winter Love – The One

The owner of a husky voice would send you to dream with this very song. Those are sad songs and if you’re a fan of Family Outing, you’ll find June’s Dream as the BGM for the episode when Chunhee and Yejin had to leave the show. Winter love is the OST for That Winter, The Wind Blows starred by Song Hye Kyo and Jo In Sung. He is said as the vocal trainer for SNSD, btw.

3. Miss Korea – Lee Hyori

As a woman (ehem) who has quite a low voice and narrow vocal range, it bothers me how I can’t easily pick comfortable songs sung by Korean girl groups without lowering the key one or two. I definitely can’t sing Korean gg songs except 2NE1 and I will skip Dara’s part :p But there is quite a number of solo female singers that I could sing their song: Lee Hi, Yoon Mirae and Lee Hyori! I’d been singing this song for a whole month because I loveeeeee the lyric! I only stopped because my friend smacked me.

This song would boost my (sassy) energy and definitely a must heard if you need a mood boost!

4. Tell Me Your Wish – SNSD

This very song, imho, secretly tells that it is okay for men to rely on us women, sharing what they’re dreaming about and if us woman can make it true, it would be better. I will sing this song to my husband if he ever feels down LOL Very energetic song that I always played it with Wings by Daesung when I needed mood booster for morning class.

Aren’t you tired of the boring days?

5. I Will Listen to Your Story – Yoon Mirae

Yoon Mirae is one of the respected female rapper in South Korea but she can also SING! She has romantic story on how she met Tiger JK, her husband, and it inspired me a lot! <3 I honestly can’t pick favorites since she sings OSTs, which I love: Touch Love, Always, I Love You, A World That is You (k-drama lovers will easily sings to these songs, I bet)

But this School 2015’s OST was like a wake-up call for me. The lyric, the voice. Like Baek Ji Young, she is the Queen of Drama Soundtrack!

How in the world I can’t love this song?

6. Perfume – K.Will and Jeon Woosung of NOEL

How can’t you love K.Will and NOEL as whole? My friend and I agree this medium tempo song is very good and the lyric is just… T___T The music video speaks a lot, ballerinas as the depiction of scent and Lee Seunggi as the main actor. Vocal, check. MV, check. Lyric, check.

What could I say more?

What can I do to forget you?

Well, I have gigabytes of Korean songs, ranging wide from the old one (Morning Dew by Yang Hee Eun damn) and I stopped downloading (hohohohoho) since BB’s comeback at 2015 LOL (still hear the new ones from YT tho), and this six hasn’t done justice considering the songs on my folder :D
