Can someone tell me why?

Annyoung guys ^_^

Okay, I've this (stupid) question. I was on my way to work this morning, around 6.30 that I saw the moon. And then there is this particular star that shines so bright nest to it. I told my mom about it and she said, 'It is normal to have a star next to the moon.' I was like why? She said 'It's always like that.'

So, my dumb question is why is there always a star next to the moon?

maybe it is because stars/planets are too scattered causing some of them look like they are "beside" of the moon when they reflect the sun's light? (like when a painter tries to measure something far by nearing his thumbs-up so it looks like they are beside each other?)(gosh i cant even understand what im saying)(ur question looks like a angstish/dramatic prompt tbh

Noonan,
The nearest I can find is not a star but a planet, Jupiter!!! Check this link:
