Is it just me or is AFF not as lively as it used to be back in 2014-2015?

What do you think? I feel like this site isn't as lively/active as it was a few years ago.  I don't know if readers have gotten more silent or what. If so, where are people writing now? It's weird cause kpop has definitely grown so there should be more people into fanfics and therefore joining this site.

Also mini rant, if you're a silent reader, you .

It takes us authors 2+ hours to type out a chapter for you guys, yeah crazy right it only look you like 15 minutes to read it. But you don't know how much work we put into our writing. So please just take 2 minutes to write a meaningful comment not just "update soon please".

Ok thanks friends also look forward to my new Baekhyun/OC short story!!! It kinda tells the side of the antagonist :-)

This is true. Most of my favorite authors aren't even here anymore. I've been here since 2012?2013? And I haven't really found anyone else whom I actually like. I've been on AO3 lately. This site is nice too and the ffs are easy to access too since you can download it. Maybe some or most are also in AO3?

I have really migrated a lot of my time over to Ao3 because they allow me to download content onto my device which makes it easier for reading. AFF also has way too many ads and popups that cause issues with my mobile browser. If AFF ever gets around to making their site more mobile friendly, I would use it more again as I prefer how I can sort my FF material here.

As for silent readers, I think commenting as a reader is a double edged sword. You can comment on a story and give your thanks or show gratitude by being excited/asking about the next chapter, and you're considered a reader because you're not giving the feedback wanted. If you give constructive criticism on any level, you're considered ungrateful and rude. Really, unless you give a long comment saying how *amazing* a story is, you are given poop.

I will never understand why authors get so offended when people ask for a new chapter. I get stupidly excited for stories I read and always check religiously for new chapters...to the point I have started ONLY reading complete stories so I don't have to wait. I can only see it as a compliment and means of motivation that people will take the time to tell me they are looking forward to my next installment of a story. Anticipation is way better than indifference.

Commenting will always be low if commenters feel like what they are saying might not be appreciated unless they are kissing.

With that being said, I comment on any story I feel like I got invested in, and I always try to leave some sort of comment even if it was a story I didn't really care for.

Note: don't take any of this personally. I am just giving my opinion from the flipside of the coin. I am an adult reader who really does set time aside each night for reading and 100% appreciate the things the FF community is giving me. Myself, like a lot of others, do realize the amount of work put into writing stories and it doesn't go unnoticed.

just because you spend lots of time on a chapter doesnt mean its good. would you rather have negative comments or no comments?

I is the feeling you to the core.
I think the main reason is that even if more people are into it nowadays they have lesser connection like we did some years back. I'd even say that the feels or story plot those days were better. Maybe it's simply because they are over used now...
Also another BIG thing was that kpop wasn't so popular and so meeting another one, even if in Internet was a HUGE deal and we went forward to know them. But since its boom these days we find kpop fans everywhere so we don't really feel those excitements anymore.

Well, i kinda not really into kpop anymore, i feell tired with all the drama or maybe coz my fav group is either hiatus or got disbanded so...
And i just go to aff when i miss my fav stories, or maybe because i am on my last year in college so yeah maybe that why i am not as active as i used to be

idk maybe its because for some reason as the years pass, teachers pass a bunch of load work to do...
but i heard that some of the aff readers transfer to wattpad because they say that they kinda got bored or they moved on to another website or smth.
i myself in all honesty read in wattpad almost everyday compared to aff bc i usually use this site one or twice in a week...unlike the past years where i opened aff every single day..and idk with my fave authors too.......they dont update anymore and i dont even receive any story updates bc theyre all blog posts.
i was expecting a huge amount of new stories about the famous rookie groups but i rarely find a decent one. i dont mean to offend anybody in anyway but its all exo, bts, etc
but everytime i go online here, i always try to comment lolz bc i understand yall

I Agree.

Ah I agree with you especially about the silent reader part! But omg I couldn't believe it but I really saw authors who demand comments but don't comments themselves and the comment rep shows it even clearer now! I'm an author myself and yes I demand comments as sign of appreciation for writing besides being busy with life like probably all of us authors but I comment every story I read! It annoys me so much ...

I was wondering that as well. AFF was quite lively when i first joined but now, not so much. Me and a couple of my author friends are still writing but we don't always update as often anymore because of uni, work, life and such.

But yeah, i miss the 2015 era. My fave authors are too busy now TT
