Admiring the Asian culture 24/7

Apart from the required subjects, we are to take up electives and this term, I've taken up English communications and History.

Thanks to the Asia portion of our history subject, I can honestly say that my respect for Asia is waaaay up there. I admire the Asian culture so much because most Asian countries are really reserved, respectful, and conservative. I can say that Oriental and Western cultures are very different.

I like how many Asians are conservative and they go for abstinence.

Here, it's quite liberated. is no big deal. It's normal for a girl to lose her ity by around 14 or 15. It's not much of an issue to be sleeping with different people in a week. I've heard that in Asia, it is a big deal. I've asked my mom and for her, it's a big deal too. She waited for marriage before engaging in (growing up under the influence of an Asian father). And I'm happy that my mother has brought us up under the heavy influence of Asian child-rearing. I'm very much abstinent, and yes. I've had people in high school (and in university) asking (or maybe mocking me) because of my decision to wait for marriage :> But I don't really care. Let them ask and let them laugh all they can.

I'm also amazed by the high respect people show their elders or their superiors. In most Asian countries, unless you want to be kicked out of the house or have your face hit by a chair, you have to show utmost respect. And learn to keep your mouth shut. It's not tolerable to answer in an ungrateful or pissed kind of voice. I personally know a lot of people who talk back a lot and tell their parents "I hate you" even if they don't mean it....just because they're upset or annoyed that their parents can't understand them.

So yeah. That's just about it.

I don't know of it implies ALL Asians. But I know Koreans DO respect their elders so much. I can see that 90 degree bow or even 45 degree bow to their superiors. Chinese have a strong regard to family ties and expectations. Filipinos have different ways of expressing respect to their elders and for majority, before marriage is a no-no. Indonesians, Malaysians, and Singaporeans are conservative and reserved. They want to appear decent, unlike those typical movie people who wear skimpy clothing and such. I hope I wasn't generalizing too much.

I am chinese so yeah,we have to have respect for our elders. We would brought up this way but not as strict as to bowing 90 degrees but we greet our elders and bow 45 degrees or at least bow our head in respect. We have to greet them when we see them. That's a must but I guess it depends. In Asia,we are all pretty respectful with some people as exceptions.I am from Singapore and teenagers in Singapore, they are quite a handful that aren't really respectful..but I am happy to be chinese cause actually japanese and koreans are chinese too.You are correct about us being conserved and reserved though.
