Why can't I upvote?

I am new in this website, and I am confused of something. I know that I must have 25 karma points to upvote, but when I wanted to upvote a story I really like, I could not do it :( it stays as the same number and no red color. I tried to upvote other stories and it works but just not in the story that I really want to upvote? Does anybody know what should I do? Please help me, I am new...

just wait a while and try again. if you want, you can tell me the name of the story and i can see if i can upvote it
