Thoughts on the Wonder Girls Disbandment

So, as I'm sure a few of you have heard, the Wonder Girls are disbanding. If you only just found out..........they're disbanding.

I've been thinking of how to respond besides the standard "they will be missed" or "they were legends" type stuff and.......yeah, I couldn't come up with anything that hasn't been said before. They will be missed. They were legends and they still will be but......it's just weird, ya know? It's weird to think that they aren't gonna be around anymore.

That there's going to be more and more new kpop fans who never heard of them, who have no idea who these girls are.

They'll know the groups who were active when they joined the kpop fandom, the groups that debuted as they were being introduced to kpop, and the groups that came after they became a kpop fan, but legendary groups like Wonder Girls and 2NE1 and Kara and 4Minute.......they won't know them. They won't understand why those groups are so important and special. And it's not even their fault for not getting it since they weren't here when those groups were active. They weren't their for their debuts, their raises to fame, the solo debuts, the member losses, the.....the anything. They have no emotional connection to these groups, so naturally they aren't gonna get why those of us who do have that connection are so....so adament that these groups are legends, special, and just important.

And that got me thinking that......that it sure does feel like the older groups are fading away for the most part. like 2PM is not in the same place they once were (and they haven't been for a while). It feels like mor and more older groups are ending up like that. And it's not because their songs now, it's because their fandom is growing up and no longer have the time or money to follow them. It's because new, younger fans can connect easier with the new, younger groups then they can with older groups. For the most part anyway, I know there are several older groups who are doing just fine right now.

But that brings me to another thought. It's not just the fans who are aging, it's the idols too. It's easy for forget, but most of the Super Junior members are in their 30s now. How long do you think it's gonna be before they decide that they've spent enough time doing the idol thing, putting up with the stalker fans, the crazy diets, and the schedule that leave no time for a life? How long before they most (if not all) decide that they want a normal life/have a family or they wanna do only solo activities? And what about Girls Generation? All of the members are getting pretty close to 30. They've been Girls Generation for 10 years. They were trainees for longer. How much longer can we really expect them to keep doing the SNSD thing? How much longer before they start deciding that they would rather do their acting or solo work and leave out the SNSD work? How long before they start saying that they wanna be mothers?

It feels.......it feels like the old guard is leaving and the new guard is coming in and taking over. And I get that that's just the way things are, a new generation comes and the old goes, but......but it . It really to see all these legends disbanding or fading away. Even though I'm happy that they're gonna do what they want and I can't ask them to stay 'cuz it would be selfish.........it still to see.

Hopefully that wasn't too much of a disjoined mess. I just felt the need to air my thoughts in a place where people might get what I'm feeling.
