DISCLAIMER: This is going to be a long one so if you plan on reading it until the end, make sure you're in a comfortable position (snacks are optional but highly recommended)

 

Where do I even start? How can one moment inspire this much chaos (and happiness)? 

 

If you're not living under a rock these past few days, you would know what I'm talking about. It's like our fanfic otp fantasies suddenly came to life. I didn't drink coffee that day because the feels from the videos were enough to perk me up; more than enough. 

 

If it's not already evident by my stories here, I am a fan of daragon. I rarely write these days and this ship is one of those that has the power to make me write on the strangest days. Whenever I think of a plot for a story, I immediately think of them as the protagonists.

 

I need to process my thoughts about this here because my friends are either just mildly supportive of it or simply negative nancies about it. I don't need that negativity in my life haha 

 

 

I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS. 

 

1) Why did he feel the need to do it? --- Just in general... WHY? Sandara Park is already used to crowds like that. Also, there were tons of security around + a few of the managers. Why GD of all people? It was obvious that Dara was going to walk ahead of him but he still insisted that they walk together. I know he said that he plans on staying in the center of scandals / rumours but really? It's a bit out of character if he did this just because of that plan. Scandals and rumours find him even if he's not asking for it. So why ask for it now? It's not like him. It's unsettling.

 

2) Why did Dara let him do it? --- Dara is a professional. If she really intends to be low-key, she can make it happen. I guess I can't blame her too much for this. Jiyong is stronger than her so her struggling against him wouldn't amount to much. Also, we're talking about Dara who's always zen. If she could avoid conflict, she would. She's as patient as they come (e.g. the secretly greatly prank with Thunder). I also saw some tweets translating another version of the video where their voices could be heard. Haven't seen that particular video yet but it said that Dara was asking Jiyong to stop but the latter still insisted on walking together (more like choking her though. I bet Dara found it hard to breath with Jiyong's whole hand covering her face). Not sure if the translation is true though. I have yet to find out for myself.

 

3) Why did his manager let him do it? --- Managers are supposed to look after his star's image right? Or at least, make sure that he doesn't put himself in situations that could 'cause a scene. Do they want to make a scene? Hmmm.

Do they go on meetings with the YG artists and plot their next PR move?

YG: We need more PR. Any ideas?

Daesung: How about we do some charity work?

YG: Too nice. Next. 

TOP: How about a human auction of the YG family?

YG: Auction? Too boring. Next

YB: A YG family guesting on a variety show?

YG: Been there, done that. Come on, guys. I NEED IDEAS.

Seungri: How about GD hyung and Dara noona getting really close in public? 

GD: What?! Why us?

YG: Elaborate.

GD: Hyung!

Seungri: They're really popular. They'd rack in the curiousity levels. A lot people like them together. "Are they or aren't they a couple?" It will be huge. And the best of all, it's free. 

Daesung: That's stupid.

YB: Dara noona would never agree.

TOP: That's the most absurd idea I've heard come out of your mouth, maknae.

YG: ..... Let's do it! 

GD: You must be kidding me.

 

 

DEVIL'S ADVOCATE PORTION (Yes, portion. This is a game show considering our feels are being played with by these two devils in disguise. Still love them both though haha) 

So I know haters are downers but let's see If their arguments are valid, shall we? 

 

1) They're in the same company so he feels the need to protect her. They're family. --- Have you seen Jiyong THIS protective over his other female labelmates? Nope. I don't think so. 

 

2) Sandara is just smooching off some fame from GD --- It amazes me that this argument is still alive after all these years. Do you even know Dara? She's famous in her own right. Why would she need GD to make her famous? They're both famous. No one is benefitting fame from anybody. Don't cause unnecessary parasite issues.

 

3) GD is just doing that to distract people from knowing who his real girlfriend is. --- Really? You think Jiyong is the type to use his close friend as a decoy when there are tons of cameras around? Do you think he'll go through those lengths at the cost of having his long time friend involved in something that only he could gain from? I don't think he's that selfish. Do you?

Plus, I don't think his girlfriend would approve of such skinship / level of closeness in public.

 

4) It's a joke - YG. --- I don't know who handles PR for YG these days but I seriously think that they need to rethink their staffing. If their goal is to gain an image of YG as a joke, they're well on their way. No one believes their lame excuse so why did they even attempt to release that statement. I don't know if YG thinks we're gullible or stupid to believe everything they say. Well, jokes on them. Nobody's buying it. Even the knetz aren't buying it.

5) GD was just drunk --- This would've made for a better press release from YG though. So sad they didn't use this one. I won't believe them anyway but still. It's better than the joke thing. He didn't look drunk to me though. Can't trump this one because I wasn't there. Told you, YG. This would've been a more plausible excuse.

 

LET'S END IT WITH FACTS

 

FACT 1: Jiyong kept someone by his side when they walked out of NB; even when it was obvious that the person intended to walk in front of him. Continued blocking the person's face with his hand as they walked and it was recorded on video. 

 

FACT 2: That someone is proven to be Sandara Park. Proven by that one video where jvips kept on calling out "dara-chan" to the person in question and the fact that YG confirmed it with their statement. 

 

FACT 3: Quite a number of people have jumped on the daragon ship observing how good their pairing really is. Some knetz even approved her for him over the many girls he'd been allegedly involved with.

 

FACT 4: YG didn't flat out deny anything. They didn't explicitly say that they're not dating. 

 

FACT 5: I'm happy for them as close friends or as lovers. Either way, my shipping heart is just happy.

 

To round up this very loooooong post:

- It is highly possible that this is just a PR stunt. For what exactly, I haven't the foggiest. 

- I don't think GD kissed her. I think she just checked on her to see if she's doing okay. BUT, I won't stop you from believing what you want to believe. It's a free world. 

- After all of these years, I am still not sure about the real nature of their relationship but what I do know is, they're close to each other. That's good enough for me :)
