The moodmaker

unqua911 - Dani - 9/10

birthname: cha yejun

height: 171 cm

weight: 59 kg

date of birth: 10 / 31 / 1996

birthplace: Seoul, South Korea

hometown: Seoul, South Korea

face claim: Jeon Wonwoo (SVT)

backup: Madtown's H.O.

NICKNAME(S):

► Happy Pill // One of the fans' names for him, this references his constant cheer and joking around on shows
► Yestein // A mix of his name and Einstein's, this one is also from the fans and his personal favorite

LANGUAGES:

► Korean // Fluent due to being born and raised in Seoul
► English // He knows the basics from school but once he got to the higher levels he quit so he's really only good enough to BS a basic conversation. His accent is impressive though, so most people assume he's better than he is.

APPEARANCE: Yejun has one of those weird faces that exudes youth and yet looks old when you actually break it down. With a wide nose, excessive angles, tiny eyes, and a needlessly broad forehead (that is usually covered due to the fact he can't be bothered styling his hair) his face is a mismatch of features that he somehow glues together with a bright smile and constant chatter. He's too lazy most days to bother witih any styling or makeup so he's often barefaced unless a coordinator can get her hands on him before he leaves the dorms.

STYLE: The fact he dresses like a grandpa probably doesn't help with making Yejun look any younger. He's a big fan of sweater vests, collard shirts, and slacks that are never quite properly pressed. His is the classic nerd-chic, minus the glasses since his eyesight is 20/20. Plaid patterns overwhelm his wardrobe and nothing anyone says can change that. On another note he would never wear jeans unless forced on him by the coordinators - slacks are and forever will be his favorite and screw you if you mock them.

PRETTY BOIZ

TRAITS: Curious, Unambitous, Lazy, Smart, Easy-going, Cheerful, Stress-Averse, Opinionated, Unaware

PERSONALITY:
Yejin is one of those people who everything seems to come to easily. He can effortlessly solve math problems, floated through school, and is just generally annoyingly smart. Like, he watches nerdy science videos on Youtube for fun in his free time kind of smart. A lot of people admire his ability to pick most things up faster than the average person, and he's not one to shy away from showing off his broad range of knowlege that he's gathered in his hunt for interesting information. Yejun is a naturally very curious person, always excited to learn new things, and if nothing new presents itself to him then he'll hunt it down. Learning for learning's sake is something he finds extremely fun, and he'll even be willing to put in a little extra effort if something is really intriguing to him.

However, for anything else Yejun isn't willing to put in more than 90% tops. He's the sort of person who prefers for things to be fun, so the moment they stop being entertaining and start being difficult he drops them and moves on. After all, talent only takes one so far and the moment his talent can no longer keep him afloat with any skills or hobbies he's picked up he quits. Yejun likes to refer to his "cut and run" approach to anything even remotely difficult as being "stress averese". Why stress out over something when you can not stress out instead? This lifestyle does make him an extremely easy-going person, since he really doesn't have any problems since his method of removing them before they become a problem is admittedly affective. But struggle builds character, and without any Yejun has remained on the wrong side of maturity as he's aged.

Aside from the obvious fact that Yejun is the absolute worst at being comforting, he's often actively and arrogantly rude due to his giant blind spot that is internal conflict. When people around him become overwhelmed or exhausted due to stress or something related to it, he often scoffs and says they should it up since "you decided to do that to yourself, you only have you to blame dumbbell." The fact he's aware of his own intellect definitely doesn't help with this perceived right to judge. His whole life he's been fawned over for his natural skills, so he's come to believe his opinion is worth more because of it.

His easy life stems entirely from the fact he has absolutely no ambitions. Yejun is someone who just coasts through life, letting things happen to him until he gets bored or starts to struggle. He has no clear path and nothing to keep his attention for long and while he may be a perpetually cheerful person thanks to his stress avoidance skills, he's also a very superficial and childish one. Yejun isn't someone who can connect with people on a personal level because he has zero empathetic abilities, instead approaching everything from a highly biased perspective based on his own flawed beliefs about himself and the rest of the world.

tl;dr: Basically he's really smart, but also super lazy. Once something doesn't come easy or feels like work he drops it and tries something different. He's very easy-going but this comes from his lack of ambition and effort. He hates when things feel like "work" and doesn't get people who overwork themselves. Stress is for hissy-fit drama queens in his opinion.

BACKGROUND:
Born upper middle class, Yejun spent his whole life being told how smart and talented he was. Of course, all this went straight to his head and made him something of a spoiled brat for the first half of his existence. As a young child he was pushy, arrogant, and down-right mean spirited at times. However after he pushed another child in front of a teacher his parents were called and he was given a very stern dressing down. Having never gotten in trouble in his life, the experience greatly shook the young Yejun, and one bit of advice from his mother in particular stuck with him: "learn about people before you judge them, you don't know how people came to be the way they are." It wasn't a completely turn around of personality, but Yejun did start making an effort ot learn about people - and he discovered that learning about people was way more fun that teasing them for not being as smart as he was.

This realization marked the beginning of Yejun's interest in psychology. He learned the extreme basics of the science before deciding he'd studied enough and started applying it to real life. He took note of patterns in behavior and actually learned a bit more than he'd studied based on his own research, but he was far from a psychologist. That didn't stop him from continued interest in the subject, and when it came time to choose a highschool he applied exclusively into ones that offered psychology courses. The one he ultimately decided to go to, a smaller private school in Seoul, had a dual biology and psychology curiculum that introduced him to his second favorite hobby: genetics. The combination of the scientific representations of nature and nurture are to this day his longest-standing interest, and for most of highschool he wanted to go on to be a genetic engineer. However, in his senior year he found himself struggling in one of his classes. Genetics had stopped beind fun, and when he graduated he decided to change his university major to something easier.

Yejun studied many things during his two years in university, from philosophy to physics, but every new major ended the same way. His mother was the one to suggest that maybe university wasn't for him, that he needed to discover himself first before he could commit ot just one thing. He happiliy agreed with this idea and dropped out of school. However, his father insisted that if he wasn't studying, then he had to find a job. This idea did not appeal to Yejun nearly as much, and he was unsure for a moment what to do. And then the world seemed to smile upon him and fix all his problems at once when he came across an open audition for a no-name idol company. He had always been told he had a nice voice, and after all, idols don't really do anything, you just have to sit there and be pretty, right? And so he signed himself up for the audition, improvised a song and dance routine, and somehow talented his way into the company, just as he always does.

Training was not all flowers and good times as he had hoped, but he did find some interest in learning the technicality being signing and dancing alike. This interest carried him through almost a year of training, and with his natural skills he developed decently, though his talent is often overstated by the company and fancs alike. His likabilty among his peers was mixed at best, with some finding him fun and relaxing to hang around, and others thinking his lack of motivation was grounds for him to be kicked out. Somehow he hung on just long enough to make it to Super Idol Maker, and the rest was history.

SUPER IDOL MAKER:
Yejun was originally part of the lineup for Super Idol Maker mostly due to his intellect rather than his abilities. He made a name for himself with clever quips referenceing famous authors and psychoanalyzing his fellow contestants during interview segments. He got quite a kick out of reading fan comments, positive and negative alike, and it increased his motivation to pratice just enough to keep him in the safe group each episode.

Yejun toed the ine of popularity, attracting quite a few supporters with his cheer and clever wit, but just as many haters for his blasé attitude and his propensity to make everything into a joke. He was a wild card in the eliminations, sometimes ranking in the top three, sometimes barely missing being cut.  The close calls never freaked him out, but instead made the whole experience that much more exciting for him, and as he was never particularly close to any of the trainees their eliminations didn't really bother him. He saw them more as a challenge overcome (by his wit and cleverness) than a person's dreams being shattered in front of millions of viewers.

As for the judges, he was as popular with them as the fans - which was to say it depended on the episode. While Yejun would listen to their critiques and suggestions, if he couldn't find and easy way to execute them he tossed the advice out the window and did things his own way instead. As he puts it later, "it obviously worked out for me in the end though, I made the final group!" However, the enjoyment he got in victory soon soured when he realized that being an idol requires a whole lot more work that he'd bargained.

LIKES:

► Biology and Psychology - he will sometimes go on little speeches about genetics or psychological theories that he knows about from studying them in high school
► Puns and wordplay - he doean't do it all the time, but when he sees a golden opportunity he's never one to let it slide.
► Interacting with the fans - Having people screaming over his perfection is just the ego he can get behind, even if it does come with a seriously crappy pre-requisite
► Looking smart in general, so he's often dropping quotes he knows or using big words needlessly, but accurately
► Constellations - his current hobby involves trying to find them all in the actual night sky

DISLIKES:

► Anything he classifies as "work"
► Practicing, long schedules, basically everything being an idol entails
► If you try to make him eat any kind of fruit, expect it to be thrown at your head the moment you look away
► Flying - he has to take air sickness meds before flights or else he's horribly nauseous the entire flight
► People asking random math questions. Yes he's smart, yes he'll do them to prove he's smart, but isn't there another way to test intellect that doesn't involve the worst class to ever be invented?

HABITS:

► He's a somewhat compulsive liar. He never flat-out fabricates things, but he'll often tell half-truths or selectively omits facts to make himself look better
► Keeping their newest MV open on his phone and watching the comments for anything about him
► He has a finger fixation of sorts, always plaing with them, rubbing them across his lips, or otherwise messing with them if his hands aren't busy doing something else

HOBBIES:

►Inventing Insults - he has a large range of his own personalized verbal arsenal, but hissy fit drama queen is his personal favorite.
► Observing people he deems "intriguing" to try and document their habits and classify their personality type

TRIVIA:

► Yejun is a serial swearer. Though he can usually catch himself around the cameras, off screen there are no holds barred.
► Yejun is considered the most shippable member of the group due to his propensity for fanservice. Since the fans are the one part of his job he actually likes he has no problem playing to them to the point of it being excessive
► While his stagename was inspired by the English interpretation of his hanji name, he also chose 'art' since it literally means "something beautiful" which he completely thinks he is.
► Yejun has skipped out on practice more than once to take a nap or otherwise slack off and relax. He even once ditched to get -faced at a nearby bar and nearly caused a huge scandal, though he luckly was able to play it off as not being him.
► Yejun actually doesn't dislike arguing, and in fact can find a good fight rather invigorating. But he has to be in the right mood for it, otherwise it's just a hassle

DEEP BOIZ

STAGE NAME: Art

POSITION: Lead Vocalist, Lead Dancer

TRAINEE YEARS: 11 months

SOCIAL MEDIA:

► ArtfulBoi96 is his handle for everything - Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Kakao, and every other social media site you can think of. And he's super active on all of them.

HIS FAVORITE SONGS: He tends to prefer the more upbeat dance-style songs since they're more fun to put together.

FAMOUS BOIZ

GROUP:

► The Leader : "If it makes you feel better, I wouldn't listen to you if you were older than me either."
Honestly Yejun doesn't really care that someone younger than him is leader, especially considering he doesn't even pay attention when the leader is leadering. While Yejun doesn't actively rebel against him, he doesn't really work with his leader either, instead doing things his own way and figuring out if it fits with everyone else later.

► The Oldest : "You do you bro. I can respect that. Not that I get it."
Of all the members, The Oldest is probably the only one he possibly respects. He thinks it's weird that he wouldn't join a group that better fit his vocal styles, but he can see the passion The Oldest has for the group and their songs, and while he would never do that himself he can appreciate the idea behind it. He'll still call the elder weird for it though.

► The Visual : "You I get."
The only member Yejun can actually possible connect with on a personal level, the visual does what he's good at: dancing. Yejun often sees the Visual as the member most like himself, and as such that makes him Yejun's favorite. That's not to say Yejun would consider him a friend - hanging out with people he can already understand is boring - but when stress is looming he'll beeline for his safety zone with this member to relax for a while.

► The Temperamental : "Quit being a hissy fit drama queen."
The Temperamental is 120% Yejun's least favorite member and was the reason for the creation of Yejun's favorite insult. There is probably quite a bit of arguing that goes on between these two, which actually does make The Tempermental one of the most interesting members for Yejun to study. However he has to be in a particularly good mood to hang around the Tempermental for any extended period of time away from the cameras, otherwise they both just end up yelling.

► The Ambitious : "You are a strange creature, you know that?"
Yejun doesn't get the ambitious. Why would you push yourself so hard for anything? Why stress out when you're clearly already super talented? Why work so god damn hard for something when they already have lots of fans and success? Yejun just really doesn't know how to feel about this member, but his natural curiosity pushes him to learn more, and to try and get him to chill the hell out. As a result he often ends up practicing more than he otherwise would, but he thinks of it as studying an intriguing species rather than actually practicing. Though he does stop when he's tired - nothing will ever get him to overwork himself.

► The Underappreciated : "It's not that I don't like you, I just don't care."
He's a cute kid, and Yejun likes him well enough. He doesn't mind spending time around this member but he doesn't really care if he doesn't. THe Underappreciated is just someone who exists in his world on a regular basis, but nothing about the kid really interests Yejun so he usually ignores the younger member.

FRIENDS: a short list of 3-8 idols that he could possibly be friendly with or be friends with. no need for explanations. this is optional.

BOIZ FEEL

IDEAL TYPE: Yejun's ideal type is usually just stated as "someone I can have fun with." This vague response is due to the fact that his ideas about his perfect dating situation applies more to the relationship itself than the girl he's in it with. Yejun wants his relationships, like the rest of his life, to be fun and easy all the time - no fights, no issues, just goofing around and cuddling all the time forever. So basically a romantic comedy.

BOIZ love
