PERSONALITY :　

▸sanghyun is an extremely passionate girl who takes great pride in her work. when she's doing something she's interested in, she will do her utmost best in it and make sure to only give her very best. this makes her a very hardworking girl and she's often the one who will be burning the midnight oil just to get a special part of the choreography correct or to nail a particularly difficult note. her passion also translates to her dancing and others are usually able to see her heart and soul poured out in each dance - it's what makes her dancing so captivating; the pure effort and passion for it.  empathetic and kind, sanghyun is who everyone goes to when they need a listening ear: she doesn't spill secrets and always tries her best to understand everyone's situation and help them. sanghyun is also a lively, friendly and chatty girl and has the uncanny ability to make even the most reticent individual warm up to her. however, despite sanghyun having a wide circle of friends, she is not comfortable revealing matters that are too personal to everyone - only to her closest friends. 

▸sanghyun is also very patient. which comes in handy when the members are being a handful or when she is trying to teach a new part in the choreography. her patience makes her great with kids as she's able to tolerate their love for repeating the same actions over and over and over again. sanghyun is both mentally and physically flexible. she's a very easy-going girl and usually has no objections to whatever decisison is being made. unless of course, it's something she totally hates. sanghyun is also a very humble girl and can sometimes get a little stressed out when too much attention is put on her. she always believes that one person's success is the product of the works of many and will always make sure to thank everyone that have helped bring her up to her current level. 

▸sanghyun's flexibility and easy-going attitude comes at a price - she's absolutely horrible at making decisions. because she usually lets someone else do the decision making, when she's put in the spot to make a decision, she often deliberates for a long time and ends up annoying others around her when she can't make up her mind. sanghyun's also quite the pushover. she doesn't have the heart to deny anyone and will always do her best to help others, even if she didn't like them or doesn't have the time. this causes her to sometimes overwork herself or to give herself extra uneccessary stress. sometimes people also take advantage of her kindness. although she's a good listener, sanghyun tends to be rather pessimistic. when it took her so long to debut, she was often facing doubts in her head. would all her training be in vain? would she even get to debut? will their band even be popular? what if they aren't? what if they're just those failed rookie bands? it is this pessimissm that makes her so grateful and surprised everytime they win and award or if their name is mentioned by other groups or tv shows. 

▸as mentioned above, sanghyun is quite the worrywart and can worry about everything and anything. this is likely due to the fact that she has mild anxiety and frequently needs to have a moment to herself to take a breather and attempt to calm herself down. because she's involved in so many things at once, sanghyun tends to be very scatterbrained. she often forgets the meetups she's arranged wth others and is always seen hunting high and low for something that she's misplaced. lastly, this may sound quite hypocritical, especially since sanghyun isn't one to open up about herself. sanghyun can actually be quite nosy and will poke her nose into others' personal matters. it's all in good intention though, because she wants to help them. but sometimes it can get a bit overbearing. 
 

BACKGROUND :　

▸born into a upper-middle income family, sanghyun has led nothing short of a comfortable life. of course, she wasn't like one of those rich spoilt brats that got everything she wanted. but she feels that she was lucky enough that her family had enough money for annual vacations and occasional splurge on the latest gadgets. 

▸when sanghyun was three and her sister was eight, her sister had wanted to start learning ballet. and like a little child who idolised her elder sister, sanghyun tagged along. at first, her parents had only intended for both of them to just take ballet as a form of leisure. but who knew that sanghyun would only grow to be extremely passionate in dance, especially ballet. she had been through some ups an downs in ballet, some self-doubts and some setbacks but she was able to pull through it all. in the process, she had picked up skills in other forms of dance like jazz, hip hop and waacking. initially, sanghyun had dreamt of being a ballerina but after learning the new forms of dances, her attention shifted to being more of an all-rounded performer instead of specialising in only one aspect. 

▸when sanghyun was thirteen, her brother started getting into kpop. his friend had introduced him to big bang and super junior and he had taken a liking to their unique sound and interesting choreographies. he'd requested for dance lesssons in street dance, which was also where sanghyun learnt hip hop and waacking. at fourteen, her brother started auditioning for numerous entertainment companies, intent on debuting as an idol like super junior. sanghyun hadn't thought much about it because at that time her mind was still set on being a ballerina. but when her brother had gotten accepted into his first company, she started to have second thoughts. she enjoyed all her conversations with her brother on how his trainee life went, and how much he was enjoying the practices despite them being tough. when her brother decided to leave his first company and audition for jellyfish, sanghyun tagged along and was lucky enough to also be accepted into jellyfish.

jinkook is always chatting with sanghyun about his architectural designs and asking for her critique since she was once an art student. the father-daughter duo have a really easy-going and fun relationship, although sanghyun finds it a bit difficult to open up to her father and speak about personal matters. perhaps it's because they're of different genders and she feels like they can't connect.

▸ mother — kim haera (50) / nurse / compassionate, patient, loving, organised / 8/10
sanghyun definitely got her patience from her mother. before sanghyun became a trainee, the two of them would often volunteer at orphanages, old folks' homes or animal shelters. in doing so, they were also able to bond really well. sanghyun shares almost everything with her mother and does not feel awkward orr uncomfortable talking about her most personal matters.

▸ older sister — han jaeri (26) / graphic artist / sponatneous, creative, messy, lazy / 9/10
jaeri is sanghyun's only sister so she feels this closeness with her that cannot be emulated with her brother. the two are very open about their feelings with one another and often discuss about private matters that they would rather not bring up to their parents. they share almost all their secrets and are often seen acting as a really sweet and loving pair of sisters.

▸ younger twin brother — han sanghyuk (21) / member of vixx / playful, snarky, sensitive, determined / 8/10
like most brother-sister pairs, the two are often seen at each other's throats and are throwing playful insults left and right. to others, it may seem that the siblings have some sort of sibling rivalry but that's just how they show their love for each other - through insults and physical 'abuse'. although they are close, sanghyun doesn't really open up to her brother on private matters but does discuss with him about idol life and often asks for his advice.

▸ best friend — chae soonkyung (21) / university student / meticulous, caring, dense, talkative / 10/10
having practically grown up together, soonkyung and sanghyun are basically the same person. interestingly, they look rather similar as well and are often mistaken as twins or sisters, to which soonkyung jokes that she should be sanghyun's twin instead of sanghyuk. they've been together since kindergarten, being lucky enough to go to the same schools all throughout their formal schooling years. soonkyung is the only person that sanghyun completely trusts with all her deepest, darkest secrets.

Trainee life :　although it wasn't publicised, sanghyun joined jellyfish the same time her brother had joined. she was the first female trainee in jellyfish. since the siblings' names are so similar, it was no news that sanghyun was related to vixx's hyuk. however that only meant that the expectations on her were higher than ever - if your twin brother is talented enough to debut, you better be too. she faced insane amounts of stress and ridiculously high expectations from both herself and her trainers. because of this, she had developed mild anxiety issues. it is because of this that sanghyun is extremely kind and helpful to any new trainees that join the company - she doesn't want them to go through the turmoil she had because of the stresses of trainee life.

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT YOUR POSITION IN 5 STAR?  : 

▸ i'm really thankful that i was able to even be considered for debut! i mean, i guess i did wish to be the main dancer, but hey! a lead dancer isn't all that bad! besides, it's better than not getting anything at all and the main dancer is really great and deserving of her title! 

WHO ARE YOU CLOSEST TO AND WHY? :

▸ i'm closest to the vocalist. she's a foreigner so it was especially hard for her to adjust to korean culture and life. i spent a lot of time with her trying to help her get used to her new life and to teach her some korean so i guess in the process we got pretty close? (giggles)

IF YOUR A VOCALIST, WHY ARE YOU DOING ALL OF THIS, ONLY TO NOT HAVE ANYONE EVEN KNOW HO YOU ARE? :

▸ i guess i do feel really bad that they aren't getting any recognition for their amazing vocals... i really hope they aren't too upset about it though! i can't really say anything about it to anyone so i guess if we ever win i'll make sure to specially mention them discreetly by calling them "the amazing people that help us become who we are". it's both subtle and ambiguous! 

do you have any role models in jellyfish?  : 

▸ can the role model be a bad one? (laughs) i'm just joking but i would say my brother? he's basically a devil in disguise and he makes variety shows really funny because of how snarky he is. it'll be really cool if i can add some life into variety shows too.
