My SM audition was lit (mini rave) the group I was in had a Harley Quinn cosplay, a country bumpkin who sang a trot song and a girl was sang Amazing Grace while crying. 

Lets go to the startttttt

Im staying in Korea for 2 weeks and on Saturday I auditioned for SM weekly auditions. 

If you are reading this because you want to audition too I cannot stress the importance of how people say 'Im going to Korea just to audition' PLEASE DO NOT  HAVE THAT MINDSET Korea is more than those k pop idols and no not everyone you in see in the street is good looking I've only seen like 2 ppl who were. (Not saying that Korean people are ugly it just that the way some people portray Korean beauty standards are abit wrong.) All im saying its not going to be like what they say. Korea has average, bad and good looking people everywhere JUST like the whole world does.

But overall Korea is great and chilll. Food is cheap and delicious.

it just seems a waste to spend all that money just to audition. Though people can go to extremes just to auditiion.

OK GOING OFF TRACK HERE BUT here is a little bit about me

AGE:16

ETHNICITY: CHINESE

NATIONALITY: BRITISH 

HEIGHT: 150CM (I know...... so short, there was alot of short ppl tho and its usually the guys who are tall)

WEIGHT: 50KG (I ofc didnt bother to lose weight im in KOREA MAN IM EATING ERRTHANG)

My Korean skills are quite good if I understood what everyone said and didnt have any blanked out moments in daily life but I am no means 100% fluent in Korean. 

My first street dance class was when i was 8 and i only did it for like 3 years in in total with my other dance activites (shows,performance and only one competition) but took like a year break in between them all. For school subjects I did GCSE DANCE which my school does contemporary dance so Im ok with dancing. I enjoy singing too and only performed in cheap school talents contests so dunno if im good or not. 

I also have ed up but nice looking balyage hair i was the only one with blonde or more extravagently dyed hair tho (Korean students are not allowed to bleach their hair) . Also i made sure i had the fleekiest eyebrows in the buildings yes i do go for typical thick fleeky look which no one in the room had since Korea prefers the straight look.

You wait outside the bulding and YES there is a long line there was more than 200 people. There was around 4 foreigners including me. I think only 3 people had the potential idol look. But not extreme SM standards... but ya never know SM staff can see the future of your face.

A dude comes and gives you your stickers, mine was 107.

You wait until he tells you to enter the building and take a lift to the 6th floor, at this moment i was like👀 because of how nice the SM COEX building looked but yh the 6th floor, the first thing you see is art canvas and stuff of SM artists the you turn your right to the audition section.

There is a man there for people who are not auditioning as those people are not allowed there so yer. Then you see 5 rows of 10 chairs and like literally 4 steps away from the first row is the audition room which is a small frosted glass box with no roof so EVERYONE CAN HEAR YOU. You sit down according to your number and a woman gives you the application slip at this moment I knew i ed up because I had NO PEN , NO WATER AND DIDNT EVEN REHEARSE ONCE.

But actually you shouldnt eat or drink alot of water before singing ortherwise it would sound blocked. 

But yh i waited for the girl next to me (country bumpkin) to finish and she let me borrow her pen, she was really nice the girl on my left (Harley Quinn) was doing her cosplay makeup at the mo so yes she stood out very much, she also i know this is rude to say but very obvious plastic surgery. But she looked like she hella prepared for this audition and had the idol body and was tall. 

Anywho i filled it in  ( it is in English and Korean) and then we give it to the SM staff, they also ask to turn off your phone.

We wait and then when our row is next we stand outside the audition box and put our coats and bags down. They also say do not bring your phone in the audition box. Your sticker must be visible and to stand apart from eachother and look at the camera and stuff.

So you enter the room and IT IS SO BRIGHT AND ECHOY. There are 2 women one with camera and the one who looks at our application. The Harley Quinn was so funny she pretended to hammer the floor and made grunting sounds (she applied as acting) she also spoke in English but it was not good at all but I applaud her for trying something original. Though the two SM staff did not ENJOY HER AT ALL THEY WERE NOT HAVIN IT. but yh she finished and they faced the camera to me I sang Ariana Grande's-Right There since Its more my style (RNB POP) and i sang that song with my friend so much so i knew the lyrics back to front. my old jam lol. They also say to just sing the highlight but i just sang from the start 

She first looked at my application and when i sang she immedietely look up because well... I sang in perfect Enlgish and i was also the only one who sang a song more on the POP RNB side also I was the only one who did ad libs(if ya kno Ariana Grande songs) I noticed that when people sang and they wanted to show off they would sing a realy high note for so long but it sounded monotone with no colour at all alot of ppl who were singing in english only sang Beyonce song one even sang WRECKING BALLLLLLLL. luv it. 

but yh they carried on looking at me  the woman with application had this face the whole time 🤔and looked at me the whole time, I sang for 2 mins. without breaking my voice and sang in tune thorughout the whole times was realy happy with myself. When i finished they said thank you and the country girl was singing, she sang a trot song but it really was not good. The staff cut her off and the rest of the girls were acting. OH BUT BEFORE while i sitting down in the actual glass box auditionr room (we go in with 10 ppl and 5 sit down) a girl who was very nervous while she was singing (amazing grace song) she just beoke down and cried saying that she will be more prepared next time and that she was sorry the SM staff didnt say anything but they did have sad faces so it means that SM staff arent as rude as people say. 

The Harley Quinn I swear wanted to stand out so much she startes stretching while everyone else was auditioning and stayed in a upside down U shape (holding her ankles) also when we were the next 5 to audition she said very loudly "Yall did well you guys are so good' WHILE CLAPPING WHILE THE SM STAFF WERE IN FRONT OF US so just imagine it is so quiet and obedient and then she just says that randomly. She was funny tho. A funny performer with character. 

But yurr then we was done left the room and then i went shopping at the `COEX mall LOL.

I regret not applying for the dance section too since I know I wouldve been comfortable dancing, you will just have to freestyle a song they gave you (All western songs) I knew all the songs they were playing even the unknown Ariana Grande songs so i was really surprised.

SING YOUR HEART OUT YALL NOT GONNA SEE THESE OTHER PEOPLE AGAIN ESP ME SINCE IM GOING BACK TO THE UK
