With a youthful exuberance, Kaerin opens up her mind (and heart) to anything new and exciting, just as most people her age. Though it's doubtful she'll ever grow out of this. She accepts every new person, adventure, or activity with arms wide open, diving in head first even without a second thought. Okay, maybe it's not like most her age because she does this with pretty much anything made available to her, but she enjoys seeing the world through rainbow lenses. The negative occurences in the world don't necessarily go over her head, but she could find the 'bright side' of any rainy day and any sour occasion. Being optimistic isn't something her family can very easily understand nor do they understand where exactly she inherited this from. Yet they don't question it because even though it can be extremely annoying, it can also be very enlightening and encouraging to have Kaerin around. And while Kaerin's optimism can very well be seen as a negative thing to people when they've had enough of her light-hearted banter and enthusiastic spirit, the girl doesn't seem to give up even when those around her do. It's not very clear whether she doesn't sense the mood drop around her or if she just doesn't care because it's not like she's oblivious to things. But it really seems as if she just recognize people losing hope or giving up.

Then again, Kaerin is a very innocent soul, never giving much thought to impurities of the world. This, also, is unclear to friends and family whether she ignores impurities or if it merely goes right over her head because she doesn't act clueless or naive...just as if nothing but innocence lives inside of her. Her innocence may very well be her downfall one day, though. As open-minded as she is, it can lead Kaerin to becoming very rash and impulsive with the assumption that all will go well in the end. It causes those who care for her to worry often because turning something down isn't what Kaerin does. She accepts new challenges and daring situations with a positive mind without any kind of game plan or goal in mind. Basically, if it works out, great. If it doesn't, try again. And that's exactly the way she'd explain it to someone if asked why she'd do something so reckless without thinking it through or giving it some thought. This isn't a negative trait to her, really, but everyone else hates this about her and constantly tries to get her to change this aspect of her personality with no avail. Persistence can obviously lead to blind stubbornness sometimes, even if she's unaware she's being stubborn about something. For someone who people don't really understand, Kaerin can also be quite transparent with her meotions. Her facial expressions aren't something she's become aware of in this point of her life, so they always depict what she's feeling on the inside: happiness (usually), sadness, anger, excitement, etc. Kaerin doesn't always appreciate that others know exactly how she feels all the time, but she doesn't know how to change it. On the contrary, others appreciate this about her because it will at least give them some warning for what they're about to get themselves into with her.

Background

Kaerin is the youngest of five older sisters in a very large but close-knit family. If the number of children wasn't so high, their parents could possibly have lived in a nice, middle-class neighborhood normally. Instead, they were leaning more towards poverty with too many mouths to feed and not enough income. Yet their parents adored each daughter and supported each one whole-heartedly, wanting them all to succeed in making their dreams come true so they could live fruitful lives after leaving their parents' house. With five different influences growing up, she found k-pop at a very young age through pre-pubescent sisters who gushed and screamed over the handsome teenage boys singing on the television. The music itself didn't impact Kaerin as much as the voices. The young girl found a deep adoration for each voice, low and high, that bellowed from their TV - and later, one of her older sister's old MP3 players. 2PM debuted when she was only 9, but her teenage sisters were in love with the (at the time, 7) 6 boys. She eventually found herself being snuck into a JYP audition with all five of her older sisters. Being young and not having much interest in music itself, the five girls didn't make it. However, the experience of watching so many young people sing and dance for a chance to sing and dance for a living filled Kaerin with her own hope. She wanted a voice like those singers on TV, she wanted to bellow out high and low notes that touched the hearts of viewers everywhere. As her sisters got older and pursued different dreams, she listened in outside of vocal classes, joined her school's chorus, joined the church choir, anything she could do to mimick those voices she loved so much. It wasn't until her sixteenth birthday that she even realized her family noticed her love of singing so much when they all gifted her with a years worth of singing lessons. When the year was almost up, her vocal coach convinced a seventeen-year-old Kaerin and her parents to go for H2 Media. It wasn't a big company, but her parents were much more comfortable sending her for a small company that wouldn't abuse her, as well as they were pleased her vocal coach worked for the company as well.

Training

Trainee Years: 2 months.
Trainee Life: Just getting into the trainee lifestyle, things are very dynamic and hectic for Kaerin at this point in her life, but she's looking at it as a new experience she's very grateful to have. So far, continuing her vocal lessons every day, working out three times a week with a trainer to make sure she's in shape, learning the basics of English and Japanese, and acting lessons are what she's been doing in her company. Quite honestly, she doesn't have her plate very full for a new trainee as the company is relying on her voice and her personality to help push her closer to debut. That being said, she has yet to be placed into a training group. Currently there are only three small training groups at her company: male, female, and co-ed. The male and female groups are gearing for debut proposal while the co-ed are merely harnassing their skillset. Being under the wing of her vocal coach, the company is in no rush to place her (especially since she hasn't been trained or evaluated in dancing yet).

Why was she chosen for \/s?: Despite her lack of dance training or evaluation by her company and the 25 or so other trainees currently residing in the company, strings were, of course, pulled by Kaerin's vocal coach to have her put onto the show with a reasoning that made...well, enough sense to the directors of the company. "She's got a better voice than all of the current trainees, hell all of the current idols. She may not be able to dance yet, but she is a bright girl. Besides, if anything, she'll go far based on cuteness and personality alone."

Dancing: (There's no link because Kaerin literally doesn't know a damn thing about dancing. As strong as her voice is, that's equally how weak her dancing is).

Q: Why do you think you were chosen to be on this show?
A: Because I love singing! I don't know much about the show, honestly...or survival shows in general. I haven't watched any. BUT! Everyone's here because of their love of music, right? So that's why I'm here, too.

Q: What would you say your main talent is?
A: Singing! Wait...what do you mean 'main talent'? *laughs* That's my only talent.

Q: What are you most nervous about concerning the show?
A: Nervous? Nothing since I don't know what to expect, having never watched a survival show. But I just know I'm going to learn a lot and meet a lot of good friends who share my interest. My nervousness inside just turns to excitement immediately!

Q: Is there anything else you'd like to say?
A: Well, I guess I'd like to ask if there are other young people my age? I don't know many idol groups except 2PM, just singers like Dean and Taeyeon and Eunji. Should I learn more about idol groups before the show starts? *laughs* Is there enough time?
