Appearance & Style:
No one can seem to agree if Hyeri is cute or mature in her looks. Sometimes she's more one than the other, sometimes she's both at once. Controlled partly her outfit and partly her expression, Hyeri's overall appearance is as micromanaged as the rest of her life. Her makeup is kept mostly neutral with some extra flair of color around her eyes (her self-proclaimed prettiest feature), and she did have some mild jaw work done just after she started training to try and give herself a leg-up on the other girls.

Simple but showy is the somewhat oxymoronic way of describing Hyeri's method of dress. She never wears anything over dramatic or overly colorful, but instead opts for simpler cuts that complement her body in ways that make her seem less... flat. She likes her outfits to be one usually pastel color except for one shock of something brighter that catches people's eyes. She loves dresses and skirts as well as low-heeled sandals. Her hair is usually left down and styled into a windblown look - she's an image of effortless beauty (despite the actual hours it takes to get it perfect in the morning).

Personality

+ Adaptive, Charismatic, Clever ; / Controlled ; - Manipulative, Impersonal, Fake

Hyeri is a natural born leader. There's an air about her that not only demands respect, but also suggests it could be dangerous to not give her full control. Hyeri is a force to be reckoned with no matter the situation, and she'll always find a way to sink her claws into the steering wheel, even if it has to be done indirectly. The thing about Hyeri is that despite her dangerous aura, she presents herself in a very disarming way. She's cheerful, encouraging, and occasionally downright annoying in her peppiness and determination to get along with everyone she meets. She's all compliments and well-placed self-deprivations that make people want to encourage her and help her succeed. Everything about her life is very carefully calculated, from how she says hello to what she wears to sleep. Everything has a purpose, and that purpose is to make sure things are always going exactly the way she wants.

Despite her carefully crafted cheerful exterior Hyeri honestly doesn't like people very much. She can handle a few close friends, but most of the time she prefers to do her own things without interference from others. But since people are an eventuality she's learned how to at least somewhat understand and manipulate them so they do as little damage to her long-term plans as possible. Honestly most people would cite Hyeri as a rather sweet and likeable young woman, completely unaware of how much she probably dislikes having to spend time with them. But personal discomfort isn't going to stop Hyeri from continuing working towards her dreams, so she keeps smiling and gathering aquaintances like a dragon hoards gold. Because she's found that knowing the right people is everything in life, and she's stacking the deck in her favor.

I'd like to say Hyeri has a hidden sweet side but she really doesn't. The ends justify the means, and even though her means are mostly just being overly nice to everyone in order to get things out of them later she's still self-motivated. People are just another way to get what she wants and she has hurt them in past - once she doesn't need someone anymore she often stops talking to them completely, leaving "friends" high and dry without a second thought. Honestly she wouldn't care if someone dropped her apart from being upset over the lost connection for possible future assistance, so she doesn't ever think about other's emotions when using them for her own purposes.

Background

Based on her personality and movies one might assume Hyeri came from a poor or broken family, but this is not at all the case. She was the second daughter of a middle class family, with one older sister and one older brother, making her the family baby. She wasn't ever horribly spoiled, but she did tend to get away with more than her brother and sister did. She did okay in school, but she discovered an early love of acting after her mother took her to see a musical for her 8th birthday as a special mother-daughter day. School just didn't seem all that important to little Hyeri when she already knew she wanted to act, and you didn't need to know any math to do that. Her parents did enroll her in classes for acting and a few group vocal lessons. Hyeri was very active in the arts at her school, always eagerly auditioning for school shows and going to choir after school so long as she didn't have a test coming up (she had to keep her grades at a certain level to be allowed into the shows).

She started attempting to make it as an actress when she was 15 years old and came across an open audition for a new TV show. She got a callback but ultimately lost out to an older teen who was better known. This trend continued, and Hyeri was frustrated that she couldn't seem to find anyone to be her connection in the acting world. And then one day, while getting takeout sushi after school, she saw a billboard of Yoona from SNSD and an idea struck her. If she couldn't break into the acting world directly, then maybe she could come in from a different angle. So she started researching how to get an audition for a major idol company, with an emphasis on SM entertainment due to them having several idols in the acting world. It only took a week to put together her resume and sent it in along with a video of her singing. She never heard back unfortunately, but her video on Youtube did get her noticed by Asia Bridge, and when they offered her a trainee contract with them she reluctantly decided to go for it. After all, an idol is an idol, right?

Training

Company: Asia Bridge
Backup Company: Happyface Entertainment
Trainee Years: 3
Trainee Life: Hyeri wouldn't say training was easy, but with her looks and her skills she managed to do quite well. Dancing was never something that came easy and she'll easily say it was the hardest part of her training, but overall she quite enjoyed the experience. She endeared herself to any and all staff members she could get her hands on and made sure she was noticed. She was a member of the Berry Good project group but much to her frustration wasn't ultimately chosen for the lineup. Her 'friends' on the staff told her it was because of her short training period, which she grudgingly accepted. Since she had signed a three year contract she continued training, making sure she was noticed and keeping herself as close to the top of her classes as she could (dancing was pretty much a lost cause but she did well in singing and absolutely nailed her variety and acting classes). When she was told she had been selected to be a part of the survival show "Vs." she wasn't surprised, but she was pleased her work was finally starting to pay off.

Why was she chosen for \/s?: Between her vocal and her interpersonal skills she was a shoo in to be the representative.

Interview

Q: Why do you think you were chosen to be on this show?
A: Well I know I'm not the most talented person here, but I think my cheerful personality and determination are why they chose me! That and of course the fact I pushed all the right buttons to get myself noticed.

Q: What would you say your main talent is?
A: Singing definitely. I'm quite proud of my vocal abilities.

Q: What are you most nervous about concerning the show?
A: Well we'll be with other poeple right? I'm nervous that I might not get along with everyone, but I hope we'll all be able to support each other! HA yeah right. I'm going to win, no question about that.

Q: Is there anything else you'd like to say?
A: Ah, nothing I can think of! Hehe, sorry, I'm a bit awkward at times like this, I'm just so nervous about the show! Eat up the cute innocent act buddy, you'll love me.

Comments: So Hyeri is solely meant as an example - she won't be in the story unless I don't get enough applicants, which hopefully won't be the case!
