PERSONALITY:

He's the definite 'Don't judge a book by it's cover type'. He seems like a sweet and nice boy but if you approach him he can give you look that can be read as 'Why'-are-you-talking-to-me?' look. Don't misunderstand, Jinhyuk is not one to talk much but when he does it'll usually be because he's annoyed or if he sees something he doesn't like. But he doesn't really like talking, he's more of a listen and observe quietly type. So watch up he's a sneaky eavesdropper. But when he sees something like he doesn't like something just snaps inside of him and makes him charge to that person and he won't physically hurt you but verbally since he's quite an observer he knows everyone secrets. Also, dancing is very important to him, and treats it like Picasso painting his next masterpeice. So, if he sees his final masterpiece with flaws, no matter how small, he'll find one and will call that person out. Also, people can mistake Seonmul can pass as Jeon Kangho's assistant coach, because he spots the exact some flaws and calls them out.

But once you get too know him he's a gjust a great guy. He makes everyone laugh with a simple joke and/or body gag he just likes making people laugh because it gives him a self-assurance of doing something right. He is also very open-minded, he's not a judgemental person, you could a admit a very personal secret he wouldn't care about it he judges a person by their charater not their race, orientation, religieon he only focuses on YOU AS A PERSON and he can make you feel loved and secure. His sister does not call him the 'Best Brother EVER' for nothing he is an amazing big brother figure. He'll take of you when you're sick, help you with the choreography even if it takes hours, he'll give you wise advice he'll do anything to make you prosper and move foreward. He is also very loyal to his loved ones. He would send money to his family and to his biological father to pay the rent, buy them gifts not even for a special occasions, to show that he is still devoted them as their son, and he won't ever forget them as the people who made him, him.  

BACKGROUND:

(The Beginning) Until he was 15 he lived in a small town in South Korea, of Hwangseong-dong, Gyeongju. His mom was a nurse in Busan, but still stayed in Gyeongju for her husband, so Seonmul didn't have his mom around all the time. He spent majority of his time with his hawk-eyed; father. His father taught him that socializing was not priority and he should focus on his studies if he ever wants to succeed in life and get out of the small town. So at school he'll be the quiet kid who always reads a book and hang-out in the library most of his time studying for the next exam or because he didn't know what else to do besides that. He didn't have much friends since he was afriad that his father would yell at him for not focusing on his studies. But in 2007 before he started high school his parents gotten a divorce and his mom won custody of him and they left the small town  of Hwaseong-dong and moved to Seoul. 

(It's A New Life (Sorta) ) He's life in Seoul was majorly different from his old life back in small city of Gyeongju. Because he was the legit country boy turned a Seoulite. So the changes from his daily routines got him a little bit overwhelmed. He got a phone, his own TV in his room that he can watch anytime and for as long long as he wants and got an extended curfew of 10:00PM. Most kids would happily take the advantage of that but Seonmul was more careful and cautious of his actions. Because he didn't adjust quickly, and he wasn't quite sure that he would ever be comfortable since majority of the time he was always home reading his books, studying and nothing else.

(Extended Family) His mom started dating atleast after 2 months of settling down in their new home and in 2010 she got engaged to Lee Namjoon and at that wedding he was the best man.When they officially got married his name was registered as a Lee. He was a bit distant of his 'dad' because he was different of treating him then his actual dad. Because the biggest difference between his biological dad and his step-dad was that he encouraged him to live a little. And to him, "a little" means "a lot" because of how he was raised back home. Also despite not being really close with is actual dad, he still like tname was registered as a Lee.

(A Reason To Smile) He gradually watched his little sister grow up to the cute little toddler she is (she's 6 now). As a big brother he would feed her, bring her to the park and push her on the swings, and when she didn't want to go to bed he would strum on his guitar (as a present from Namjoon on their first Christmas together and was self taught) and sing her a song followed by him tucking her in her sheets and kiss her on her forehead. He loved hearing his sister giggle because he felt like when she laughed was a releif that he was doing something right. Since his parents were still busy after school he would pick her up from school and sometimes eat ice cream without them knowing.

(School Time) As for school he was a straight A+ student being ranked #1 in his class. Kids in school will occasiaonally say hi and start talking to him to get on his good side since his new dad was the princapal of the school. He was somewhat a flower boy and would get confessions dialy but he would reject them since he didn't think he would make a great boyfriend.

(Learning Something New) Did you really think it seems like he had an easy life? Not to him it wasn't. He was stressd out since he was the son of the schools' princapal and he had to always be the perfect academic son. He had always taken care of his sister and he thought she expects them to always be there for her. He didn't want to tell his parents because they'll be worried about him and he didn't want that. He had trouble expressing his feelings, but one night he was walking aorund the city after putting his sister to rest he saw a bunch of people crowding something. It was two guys moving their body in a strange way (To him). He asked a guy what they were doing he said, krumping a dance that can release stress and anger they guys krumping were in an argument and they fighting in a non-violent ways. He was fascinated to that when they were done 'fighting' they all seem to have let go of their stress and could finally... breathe.

(Just Dance It'll Be Okay) After the dance he was completley influenced and started dancing, it didn't matter the genre he danced whatever the music controlled him to do. It didn't feel like force, nor did it felt like someone was judging him. It felt like someone was telling him, "It's gonna be alright". Something he wished that he could actually hear in real life. He loved the fact that music had the power to feel in touch with your emotions. When he started dancing it was almost like each movement he made with the music it was like his feelings, were just flowing out and when the song was over it's like a final goodbye and he can breathe. Whether he's sad, angry, happy or any emotion that he's feeling he won't explain it by words but by dance. Dance is not just a painkiller for him it's his own language.

( Employed ) Once he graduated high school (In 2014, age 19) he was in a slump. He didn't want to go to college because it's not where he wants to put himself and spend his life doing things that he didn't want to do something he isn't passionate about. Luckily, when he told his parents about his aspirations to become something with his dancing, and not attend college, they approved. Because they were proud that Seonmul was actually taking control of his life and what he wants to do with it, since they thought that Seonmul would be out of the house more often, his mom decided to quit her job as a nurse and become a stay-at-home mom. Then after a month of graduating, and dancing on the streets one person came to him after a dance battle, and asked him to attend one of their classes. He agreed, because he thought it sounded exciting dancing with other people who liked it as much as him. So, he began to regurarly attened some of their classes, it was only a bit at the end of the year that they asked him to choreograph a class. He was a bit suprised and thought he didn't stick out like some other dancers. But after thinking about it, it raised his confidence a bit and accepted the offer. So he spent a couple of days and countless hours to perfect his first choreography that is being taught with others. Then the day came to teach the choreo, and he was nervous and anxious, but once the music starts he was back to feeling music and his worries were gone. A couple of days past and he noticed that his choreo was posted a long with other students doing the choreo. He was suprised of the video because he didn't know that they would tape him, just the other students and the feedback he was getting back. Like he was a talented choreographer/dancer, and he was good looking (he thought they were kidding).

(New Opportunities) The video garnered him attention and from that he had a lot bookings for him to teach a dance routine and particually a company called SM offered him a full-time job as a dance instrutor. Of course he accepted he thought of being the choreographer of famous idols life SHINee, TVXQ, Super Junior etc. But after a year it was a living nightmare. No one would listen to him most of the time, instead of focusing one one group he has to consistantly work on multiple choreographies. Which made him tired, and even more confused and sometimes mixed them up. He even featured as a background dancers in some of their performances on music shows and offered him to continue working at SM as a trainee. He denied because, to work as hard as he was as a choreographer, what would life be as an actual trainee. Nah, bruh. Not for him. He continued working for a couple months before resigning because of the hinderous working conditions.

(Get Up or Give Up) Now in 2015, he went back to choreographing at his ious studio. But he had to admit, what would life be like if he continued as a trainee? Because when he was performing for the first time on an actual stage, it felt amazing. Maybe he can't make it as a dancer alone, so he decided to take up singing. In which his step-dad came in and helped since he was a former musician himself, before surrenduring to his parents wishes to continue studying. He has started singing and has been continuing for 1-2 years. So he hasn't unlocked his true potential, but he works on it whenever he can and now he's priorotzing it as much as does with his dancing.

(I'm Sorry) When Seonmul became an official competitor for the show. Of course, when he told his parents that he got accepted, they were proud of their son. But Seonmul was concerned about how he was going to tell Seonmi since they are very close and did almost everything together, dress in matching costumes for Halloween, sing with her for her birthday, feed each other food anything you think they might've done it with each other. So when she figured out he was leaving she hated him, because her parents were always busy with work, and besides hanging out with her classmates from school, but after that she had her brother to lean on. So with him leaving, it made her feel like he'll be gone forever and it may sound a bit overdramtic, but Seomi's only six. What do you expect? Whenever he tried to get close to her she would run away and cry. And when it was time for him to leave as he was waiting for his little sister to say goodbye to him but she never came. His mom went to get her but he didn't hear her say a goodbye but heard he shout "I hate him." as the words were said he just went inside the car and left. He wish he could say that he was sorry but he couldn't in the car ride tears escaped his eyes. And he vowed to himself that he will reunite with her soon and say 'I'm sorry'. Each day since his training he'll sent his family a video updates say he  loves them.

Likes
→ Getting Tattoos // Despite growing up like a typical "Oppa Next Door", he has a bit of a bad boy feel once he got his tattoos. But nonetheless, he still gets the girl no matter what he puts on his body. He only gets tattoos as memories that he doesn't want to forget 
→ Dancing // Obviously he loves dancing and it has become a very important part of her expresses himself, since he's not much of talker. So, dance is more than dance to him.
→ Drawing // When he's getting a tattoo, he has to be creative and wants to have exactly what's on his mind. So he would draw it out, and it became more of a hobby to him calms him down at time
→ 1Million Dance Studios // 1Million to him, is more than a dance studio to him, but a second home. Because there he could express his love for dancing and learned more about himself than he couldn't have done if was stll in his bedroom dancing. Also the fellow choreographers welcomed him with open arms, and became like brothers and sisters to him. They also like to and treat him as the baby of the group because of his shy, yet cute personality
→ Manga and Anime // With the amount of animes he watched in his life time, you wonder why he's not fluent with the language yet. Also manga is awesome. No further explainations are needed
→ Hotteok // We all saw this coming. If you know Seonmul, you would immediately notice his ultimate love of hotteok. The sweet taste of the warm syrup, and the soft and fluffy bread is Heaven in his mouth. If he would marry it, would've done it already
→ Spending Time With His Seonmi // Seonmul and Seonmi were always close. Even though it sounds cliche, but it's true. He was always there for her, in her early days. He loves his sister and is not afraid to show it.
→ Yeon Seonchul // Yeon Seonchul is Seonmul's biological dad. Even though they weren't close when he was growing up and is the reason why Seonmul is introverted the way he is, he still respects his father. Seonmul does have a desire for his father to approve of his career choice. He also wishes that his would've given him a hug not because it seemed reasonable, but out of love and proudness

Dislikes
→ Crying in Front of Other People // He doesn't like crying in front of other people because, honestly he has been through small, but impactful hardships, that he had to keep to himself. So, if he cries over one thing, he thinks that he might be not as strong as he thinks. But his friends and family encourages him to just let it out and crying is not a sign of weakness, but as something to tell him that he's been strong for too long
→ Flashing Lights // Seonmul has sensitive eyes, so if he has to take photoshoots it's going to be a bit of a struggle. Because when the light flashes, it becomes blurry and bright, and takes time for him to regain his normal sight and do the next pose
→ Getting Dressed Up // As in "dressed up" not as crossdressing, but as in going all out. Like wearing a suit for example. He would wear it on special occaisions, but when he does, he's extremely uncomfortable and awkward. So, his movemts comes off as stiff
→ Summer // Summer may seem like the time for freedom for some people. But Seonmul absolutley hates it because he hates sweating and the stickiness feeling that comes from it, and bleh.
→ Arrogant People // Even despite his quiet demeanor, if you're arrogant and seems like you're out of line, he will snap at you. He had one case at school, where one classmate was treating the teacher with disrespect, he suprised everyone with his loud voice, and powerful displeased expression on his face that intimidating the classmate to apologize. So if the other competitors see that, they would have a different view of him
→ Cute/Flower Boy Concept // Even though he looks like the type to be perfect for the concept, he's a ball of awkwardness. So, it's best to not ask him to do something cute like aegyo because unless you want eye cancer, don't do it
→ Makeup // He doesn't like make-up on girls and on himself. He feels like it's weird, not because he's a guy, but it feels weird on him. Like heavy. Just not as free with his bare face
→ Letting His Anger Out // Seonmul never liked letting his frusturation out on others. That's why he dances to let his anger out, in some way the "responsible" way. But, say that someone is treating someone unfairly, and it's not something that he let's go easily, he has to step up and sometimes that means that he has to be more vocal. He didn't like it when he has to do that because drama was never his favourite genre of anything. So, he tries to sustain his level of emotions and let's them out the right way

Hobbies
→ Creating Choreography // Seonmul was a choreographer before he came on the show, so it's obvious that creating new choreo was just a habit
→ Cooking // Of course, his parents all had busy jobs his mom was a nurse, Yeon Seonchul was a high school teacher, and his step-dad was the principal of his former high school. So, when they came home, they didn't have the energy to cook a meal, so Seonmul took the liberty to cook the meals for when his parents came back home. So, he has some skills for cooking
→ Making Beats // Seonmul made remixed songs for some dance routines of his, but only a few.

Habits 
→ Biting His Lips // It may turn some people on, but not for Seonmul. He doesn't do it to act y, but because he's extremely anxious.
→ Shaking His Leg // Not because he has to go do his business, but because he's nervous. And sometimes for no reason and it just happens. HIs friends and family try to stop him by putting their hand on his leg to stop, but he always ends up shaking the other legs

Trivia
→ Seonmul had became an official 1Million Dance Studio choreographer after he officially resigned from SM Entertainment
→ Seonmul choreographed SNSD's "Mr. Mr." and appeared in their comeback stage and was the one rolling on the ground. EXO's "Call Me Baby" and "Love Me Right". SHINee's "View" and "Married To The Music" and appeared in a couple of promotions with "MTTM" also with Taemin's "Danger" and appeared in some of his promotions also. Then Super Junior's, "Devil". And Amber's "Shake That Bass" also appeared on some promotions. Also appeared as the boy in BoA's promotion for "Fox".
→ Out of the 1Million choreographers he is mostly close with Junsun Yoo and Lia Kim
→ Originally, he was supposed to appear with Hyoyeon on the second episode of "Hit The Stage", but couldn't do it because he had to babysit Seonmi
→ Despite showing up in many SM artists promotion stages, people (Mostly people who don't know dance culture(?) deeply) don't recognize him as much as people who do dance. But if he does get noticed he would be flustered
→ Still doesn't know how to ride a bike 
→ Ultimate role model for dancing would have to be Michael Jackson because.... he's Michael Jackson, but a close second is Usher
→ His ultimate wish is to earn back hs=is baby sisters trust as a Hyungpa.
→ Seonmul really wants to have his biological dad (which I now realize that I haven't mention his name which is Yeon Seoncheol) involved with him. Because even despite not being close with him, he wants to have his approval of what he's doing now. And maybe even creating the father and son bond that he wished they had when he was younger

⟪ How did you find out about Do or Die? ⟫ 

*Slightly laughs to himself* Uhm... One of the students in my dance class, talked to me about a survival show that's searching for hopeful auditionees. She told me that I should join the show because if my dancing wasn't good enough, then my face could definitley get me in. 

"Do you think you're handsome?" One of the PD asked.

"My nickname is Colgate, so I guess that speaks for itself."

⟪ Why do you want to be an idol? Are you prepared for everything it entails? ⟫ 

Based on my past, I didn't set out to be an idol originally. Nor did I think I would have the confidence to even audition. Then I remember how I felt when I first started dancing for the first time in my room, and I love the feelings it gave me and I thought nothing could top that. Then I stepped on an actual stage for the first time, and what I thought couldn't be topped has just been topped. Then I thought to myself, "Maybe I can stand on the stage more often." *Pauses to think about his next answer* "As a choreographer, I want feedback on my dancing. Of course I get harsh comments, and I faced them. I work hard on my choreographies that I forget time even existed. I think I unintentionally prepared myself mentally and physically, that I'm ready for more chalenges. *Nods at his answer*

⟪ Do you have any prior experience in the entertainment industry? ⟫ 

*Lets out a heavy sigh* I originally wanted to become a dancer. Then I became a choreographer. I caught the eye of a company called SM Entertainment. *Bits his lips out of nervousness* I choreographed some artists like EXO, SNSD, Super Junior, SHINee, and some solo artists too. But after a year I resigned and continued dancing as a choreographer.

⟪ Where do you feel you're strong, and where do you feel you're lacking? ⟫ 

Dancing is my strong point, because I have been dancing more than my singing. Singing is something, that I'm not very bad at, but also it's also not something that I amazingly good at. And don't get me started on my rap. I can't rap, it will probably sound racist.

⟪ Why should we choose you for Do or Die? ⟫ 

I actually don't know. I guess because I'm just Yeon Seonmul. Like my name, you can only find out what I actually am, if you pick me.

ANY LAST COMMENTS: I hope you like my Seonmul, because I may sound weird, but I created him by imagining what my future husband (Meghan Trainor REFERENCE!) would be like.... I'm WEIRD!
