The Tales of Exodus ➳ » {Im Chaeyeon: Fairy}
She got me going crazy
why's my heart like this baby?
Im Chaeyeon
You're beautiful; you're my goddess
Face claim: Ahn Sohee
Back up face claim: Suzy
Appearance:
[Fairy Form]
eye colour: deep green framed in black (x)
fairy height: 12.7cm (like tinkerbell tiny)
fairy weight: undefinable (practically weightless)
wings: soft pink with a pale white shine, translucent (x)
- Fairies are typically very tiny, however they aren't limited to their tiny natural forms and can freely change between the two sizes, human and fairy. However, most fae prefer their smaller forms especially after EX'ACT started hunting for them, due to their ability to hide and maneuver much quicker in their smaller forms. Chaeyeon doesn't have a favourite however, as she tends to stay in her human size as she risks facing punishment if she remains fairy sizes when with the scientists.
- Chaeyeon's hair always remains dark, as she has no intentions of touching it other than to cut it, she'd rather keep it healthy and natural. And her skin is highlighted by the darkness of her hair, and she appears rather pale. She thinks she's the most beautiful with dark hair as it naturally appears, to suggest changing it is to insult her beauty (watch out, she might get back at you if you say that).
[Human Form]
height: 163cm/1.63m/5"4'
weight: 43kg
- Chaeyeon, when she's actively posing as a human can hide her wings to an extent. Her wings vanish, at the cost of discomfort and 'cramping' of her wings. Which usually means she tries to keep them out pretty often.
- She's still kinda tiny when she's a human, but it's rare for fairies to be tall in general. Though she wonders what it'd be like to be tall.
Style:
[Fairy]
She usually wears loose, lightweight dresses in soft colours (unless it's winter, then she's putting fur lined dresses, leggings and a thick coat on). She prefers light pinks and whites particularly, but she's quite happy in just about any colour. Dresses that are backless, or have low cut backs are typically the best so her wings can happily be free and not be cramped (because cut outs on the backs of clothing don't really work, when she puts her wings away and then wants to pull them back out, it takes a little maneuvering of the clothing and poking the wings through like thread through needles. Not fun). She'll typically be barefooted, just to feel the dirt under her feet. (x)(x)
[Human]
As a human, she has tried to retain some of her fairy fashion and often likes to wear dresses. But she's getting used to the idea of wearing pants (particularly jeans, but only when it's colder), and enjoys wearing shorts a lot. Though skirts has been her to-go clothing, because again she's just comfortable in them. (x)

Background:
"Fairies are unique, that's what Chaeyeon was always told, they were born in things relating to their powers. Their families were connected by the same rebirth spot and for an earthen fairy like herself, it was plants (flowers, bushes, trees) or rock formations that linked them together as family. And these fairy families always watched out for their vulnerable younger siblings as they were reborn into this new world."
[Magical Beginnings] Chaeyeon was no exception to this rule, born under the summer solstice in beautiful pink mugunghwa flowers hidden in the forest behind a temple. Her fae sisters, Hyeyeon and Seoyeon finding her tucked safely away in a mugunghwa flower until they had arrived, the flower opening up at the sight of the two elder fae. The two elder fairies had felt the instinctual pull that lead them back home, where they knew almost instantly that they had a new sister to look after. However, they hadn’t been the only ones awaiting the arrival of the young fae, a gentle, sweet-hearted unicorn had taken up residence weeks earlier watching over the forest awaiting the arrival of the fairies.
Hyeyeon and Seoyeon took care to safely pick up and cradle the still sleeping fae, taking her back into the temple where the unicorn had greeted them and allowed them safe haven inside the temple (considering it was a troubled period in Korean history, they were grateful). Chaeyeon woke up not too long after being moved, her first sight in her new life were her two sisters whom had stayed watching over her, both Hyeyeon and Seoyeon falling in love with their baby sister. Chaeyeon’s two sisters doted over the baby fae, Hyeyeon and Seoyeon took over the role as her guardian, splitting the duties between the two, both going out of their ways to spoil and care for the young fae in order to see her grow up happy. It was an unspoken agreement within fae families to stay together. The two elder fairies chose to remain in the temple of Chaeyeon’s birth, under the guidance of the wise, sweet-hearted unicorn, Kyungli, whom had welcomed them with open arms. They used the peace and quiet of the area to help build Chaeyeon’s powers, Kyungli helping to patch up any scratches and bruises from failed attempts of taming her powers, treating her like her own. Much of her time was in the presence of any number of the three other inhabitants of the temple, whether it was for power practice, talking or cuddles, Chaeyeon was constantly the center of attention there.
[Haven] But when Kyungli decided to continue on, feeling the need to continue her journey, the elder fairies decided that it was time to move on from the isolation of the temple and introduce Chaeyeon to her inheritance as a fairy among other fairies (1939). They began south, towards one of the largest hidden fairy cities in Korea, Haven (Bomun Pavilion). It was a tedious journey, where Chaeyeon was constantly hand-in-hand with one of her elder sisters and never left alone in fear that she may be found by a human. Hyeyeon and Seoyeon constantly warned her of the humans and how it wasn’t safe to be left alone, that they liked to destroy the nature fairies had been born to care and look after, however, the story that most haunted Chaeyeon was the one that humans liked to pluck the wings of fairies off. Even the idea of Chaeyeon losing her wings had her shying away from the prospect of nearing human settlements, she loved her wings too much to lose them. Eventually they reached Haven, Chaeyeon comforted to be surrounded by the fae and was intrigued by the intermix of species found in Haven. She’d only ever been told of pixies and elves, so Haven was a collection of learning experiences. There Hyeyeon and Seoyeon took the opportunity to have Chaeyeon learn off a fairy teacher, whom could teach her how to do things they couldn’t.
[Junsu] During this opportunity to learn from fairies other than her sister, she met the snarky fire pixie Junsu. Both naturally hit it off with one another, their social skills inherent, befriending each other quickly. Though Chaeyeon began to expand her social circle away from her sisters, she always found herself returning to them and relying on them to help her when she needs it (even if she doesn’t ask for it). Hyeyeon and Seoyeon often travelled with Chaeyeon to meet her friends, judging them (and outwardly showing their discontent at sharing their dearest baby sister with the world) but oddly approved of Junsu almost immediately (despite the difference in element/power), they claimed they could sense a brother bond somewhere there with him.
But Chaeyeon’s sisters eventually wished to continue travelling, missing the quiet of the wilderness, and the sisters all agreed, choosing to leave the bustling Haven to find somewhere new to proclaim home (1959). However, Junsu didn’t wish to let go of his best/childhood friend, instead choosing to accompany the females as he was now of age to make his own decisions and felt his happiest with the sisters.
[Ocean-Moon Fesitival] They chose their next destination as the Donghae Residence on the Eastern Coast, wishing to visit the small seasonal fairy hotspot in time for the annual fairy-mermaid festival in celebration of the Ocean-Moon festival held under the Spring Equinox. Though it usually was water fairies, nymphs and mermaids that took part in the celebrations, as the water called for them in a way much like the earth called for Chaeyeon and her sisters, and fire to Junsu. It was beautiful at the Donghae residence with a view of the emerald blues of the sea, many water fairies lingering and loitering around the residence allowing Chaeyeon the opportunity to mingle and befriend many of them. As the moon rose, and the party began, the mermaids beginning to arise from the water and lounge in the shallows that had existed in secluded lagoon that the festival began in. Chaeyeon was quick to figure out that she didn’t like some of the resident mermaids, prominently the younger ones who were eying up Junsu with dirty looks instantly recognizing his fire (fire and water don’t mix). She kept it in for a little while, only shooting them looks and distracting Junsu away from the small collection of mermaids, that is until one of them decided to comment on his presence. It cracked her civil disposition, causing her to turn viciously to the mermaid that had said such a thing, calling them out for their behavior. Chaeyeon didn’t hold back on her opinion of the mermaids and eventually causing both parties to leave the festival early.
[Across the Sea] Chaeyeon, her sisters and Junsu didn’t stay too long in Donghae after that, Chaeyeon not wanting to set eyes on the horrible mermaids that had insulted Junsu or even mermaids in general. They chose to follow the seasonal festivals along the Korean peninsula, unable to find a home that suited all the group yet, until they eventually made their way over to Japan (1987). They were welcomed warmly by the Japanese fae, whom were entirely alike and unlike their Korean brethren, helping them settle into Japanese society with easy. However, within this new society she had new competition for the attention of Junsu, who was fascinated by the fae society that resided so far from home and said fairies were more than happy to steal his time away from her. Chaeyeon was disgruntled, have grown up with much of his attention settled on her (it was platonic adoration for her, they felt nothing more than a strong bond of family). This monopolizing of his time really brought out Chaeyeon’s inner demons, becoming a prime example of the inherent covetous nature all fairies hide away. It didn’t help when both parties were aware of the competition for his time, Chaeyeon smugly using underhanded tactics to steal back her Junsu and playing dirty when they tried to fight back, even rubbing it in by long hugs, pecks of the cheeks and general clinginess.
[Change] Chaeyeon quickly desired a change in scenery once she realized that she would be fighting for a long time with the fairies, convincing her sisters easily that it was time to move onwards (her sisters were far too happy to please their youngest sister, plus while Chaeyeon wasn’t aware of it, there were plenty of people trying to vie for her time and they couldn’t allow her to be taken away from them). Fairies are the center of their own worlds, often everything done is beneficial to them or someone close to them. And the clan decided to move towards the small settlement of Uto, near Mount Kirishima (1989). Uto was a magical spot for the clan, Chaeyeon used the opportunity of a small population to grow close to those outside of her clan. It seemed like a permanent settlement for the group, everyone’s powers growing with the help of the resident fairies (particularly the strong forest and flower fairies that resided in Uto), whom had been persuaded to give up some of their tricks. Even Junsu’s fire grew, though it came with its own negatives too, like the one time Junsu accidently set Chaeyeon’s prized poppies she’d grown from scratch on fire, leaving them in ash and causing one large headache for Chaeyeon to deal with (even collapsing out of pain). In the aftermath of that incident, Junsu had been lectured until he wanted to scratch his ears out and Chaeyeon had decided never to go near Junsu when he was practicing.
[Homesick] But even this paradise had its ending date, the group eventually feeling homesick, choosing to say goodbye to the place they had grown to love and returning to Korea. It was upon their return to Korea (2000) that they finally made the trip to the island of Jeju, it’s beautiful nature drawing them to it, but the damage done by humans repulsing them. Chaeyeon knew of the stories of humans, had seen the aftermath of some of it, needless to say was completely and utterly unimpressed by humans. Due to the nature of concrete jungles living flush against beautiful wilderness, Chaeyeon often had a dull headache she had to ignore when she strayed too close to the humans. If there’s one thing Chaeyeon hates, it’s to be in pain so the humans weren’t winning any points in her books there. But there was an upside to Jeju, the group had found a place where they felt most at home, upon Halla Mountain. It was high enough to keep any sorts of headaches away and it was a dormant volcano, so it was perfect for Junsu to practice on.
[Found] However, it all ended when EX’ACT found them (2005), a hiker had had an unusually fall when trying to hike the mountain, causing authorities to come and investigate. This lead the EX'ACT society right to their doorstep, and they were captured before they could even escape.
Present:
[Seperate] Upon the capture of the siblings and Junsu upon Halla Mountain, they were decisively separated after observing the way they fought for one another (it left several guards with blackish bruises, lines of bloody scratches, third degree burns and multiple allergic reactions to plants). Chaeyeon was separated from her family, all of them being taken to different holding sites until they were locked in different preserves. Chaeyeon was one of the first to be separated from her family to test what it'd do to a fairy, as it had never been done yet.
[Alone] Within her preserve, Chaeyeon only bonded briefly with other caught fairies, but she had never felt more alone in the preserve. She was a particular favorite of the scientists and was taken in for experimentations and observations often. She was fiery in the beginning, trying to fight off any scientists and their equipment, but her will to fight against them was quelled slowly until she was outwardly compliant. They injected her with various poisons (she's immune to many of the organic plant based ones, the creature venoms however she's not immune to), and subjected her to various types of magic. Anything they did left her crying out in pain, curled into a ball trying to fight for her survival. Chaeyeon loathed the scientists, EX’ACT for doing this to her. The pain they were subjecting her to she promised to return tenfold and it became an ever burning fire within her to one-day exact revenge for what was being done to her.
[Borrowed Time] But nothing could be worse, other than the separating of her family, than when they started to become obsessive over her wings. Attempting to touch, take samples and damage them. This is where Chaeyeon began to outwardly oppose them once again, the only time she had done so after being ‘tamed’. She could live with the pain of being injected, forced under things, but her wings were far more important and they do not grow back so readily. Chaeyeon was under borrowed time when it came to her wings, but her lucky break came with the mass escape. She was going to have her vengeance, to see them suffer for what they had done, and then she was going to get her family back as one. Chaeyeon's heart has hardened at the sight of humans, she isn't going to trust them with anything. She has an auto reaction now to believe they are just there to hurt her, to take what is hers from her. While she could blend in with them, she really wants to stay secluded away from the human populace. It will take stubborn people to get her to forgive and forget, and to convince her that not all humans are bad.

Family:
▻ eldest sister | im hyeyeon | true: 107; human: 29 | fairy| calm, narcissitic, responsible, optimistic
Hyeyeon has had her eyes on Chaeyeon ever since she was welcomed to the world, and adores the young fae deeply. Hyeyeon would give the world for her two sisters, and while she may not always show it (she does try) she is doing the best she knows how for them. She is often the responsible one, of both Chaeyeon and Seoyeon, and worries about her sisters endlessly. Naturally as the oldest, and having the most developed earthen powers, she's taken it upon herself to mentor Chaeyeon in her abilities and constantly praises the young fae. Hyeyeon believes something greater is destined for Chaeyeon and avidly believes in the saying that solstice born children are stronger than there brethren. However, it's her family and she's always going to believe they are all destined for greatness, so it might be pride holding that claim up at this point. But a fairy can believe. Hyeyeon's always going to behind her sisters, no matter what.
Chaeyeon on the other hand is completely thankful for Hyeyeon always standing by her side, holding her hand (or wings) when she needed help. And damn right standing against those mermaids that insulted her. Hyeyeon's responsibility has helped keep them together at times and without her, Chaeyeon wasn't quite sure what she'd've done, plus her lessons have helped Chaeyeon's control immensely so it's just another thing to be thankful of.
▻ immature sister | im seoyeon | true: 100; human: 27 | fairy| immature, energetic, forgetful, prideful
Seoyeon is the complete opposite to Hyeyeon, except when it comes to loving Chaeyeon. Seoyeon has a brand of 'fun love' involving more play than actual life lessons, so what Chaeyeon learnt from her is how to enjoy life. Though she's not a bad teacher either, though her earthern magic is usually directed as tricks and challenges rather than useful/control tips. Seoyeon thinks learning to have fun is one of the greatest attributes in life, and what's the point in being a fairy if one can't have fun doing it. Plus there's wings, so Seoyeon's self-professedly 'set' for life. And this 'fun' is what she intends to teach Chaeyeon. Chaeyeon is particularly the apple of Seoyeon's eyes, as she was the younger sibling she could play with and befriend even though she was further in age than what Hyeyeon was.
Chaeyeon loves Seoyeon, she enjoys her company as a break from seriousness though she does wish at times Seoyeon would be a little more responsible at times. Both sisters can be inseperable from each other at times, and both share a very clingy streak with can leave them clinging to one another for hours at a time.
Friends:
▻ childhood bestfriends (practically family) | ahn junsu | true: 77; human 25 | fire pixie| cunning, loyal, righteous, zany
Junsu is a friend forged in lessons, and is only one to have stuck with Chaeyeon her entire life. Originally percieved as a love interest by Hyeyeon and Seoyeon, which he got much teasing from, Junsu proved himself as a life long pseudo brother to Chaeyeon. His personality compliments Chaeyeon's very much, and he's down for just about any kind of trick or challenge she'll put him up to. Not to mention his flowing river of compliments. Junsu thinks Chaeyeon is a breath of fresh air, and surprisingly can put up with the vainly proud attitude. It's grown on him, not to mention he absolutely loves her hugs and her 'clinginess', he's not sure that Chaeyeon knows (she does) but he's not going to tell her.
Chaeyeon holds him close to her heart, and thinks he's quite easily the greatest pixie to be there her entire life. Perhaps while Chaeyeon doesn't quite think him love interest material, she's definitely stuck with his friendship for life (and yes, she's going to find him a lovely pixie or fairy partner in the future). The only thing you'll find these two disagreeing about is power practising, she won't go 50 feet near him in fear of her precious plant babies (because of the one time he messed up and set her poppy plant on fire, she was both in pain from it and super angry at him. Lesson learnt).

First Meeting:
Chen and Chaeyeon technically meet when she's on the verge of attacking a guard, howling in pain from whatever they'd decided to do that day (she's sure it was some kind of wretched poison that they'd injected her with, definitely not made using plants). Chen's guard had been called over to help contain her, forcing him to be locked into a glass observation room opposite her's until the matter had been dealt with. Chaeyeon vaguely spotted him out of the corner of her eye and turned to lock eyes with him, only for her to scowl and snap back to her captures whom shocked her until she passed out, head hitting the concrete ground.
However, they only met when the doors had been opened from their 'cages' and both were bolting for the nearest door. She spotted him first, threatening him with vines that'd choke him to death if he attempted to stop her, only for him to yell that he was trying to escape. Chaeyeon couldn't believe a human was trying to escape, considering they were in charge here and attempted to use vines to lift him up and demand answers. Only to have him shock the life out of them, causing her an immensely painful headache and him having to carry her out before they were caught. When she finally came to, they were a reasonable distance and she was furious, yelling at him, before threatening him again if he didn't answer her questions. He obliged, figuring it was better to befriend the fae in case she really got the upper hand and they finally introduced themselves.
Chen wasn't entirely happy to be attacked by her, considering he wanted to escape too. But sort of expected it after seeing how they had treated the creatures, expecting them to be somewhat hostile to humans (though he's not even sure what he is himself) and while he was frustrated by her, he tried to be somewhat understanding of what they may feel like. Chaeyeon on the other hand didn't believe him in the beginning, that he wanted to escape too, until he told her the entire story and even then she was suspicious of him. Let alone the fact he hurt her plant babies, so she full out ignored him (opting out of any sort of revenge because of his 'story') until they met up with the group, where she confirmed his story. But this girl still continued to ignore him out of sheer unhappiness and simmering anger for her plants. However, Chaeyeon was eventually made to speak to him again, as this whole group thing wasn't going to work otherwise, and gave the opportunity to start to bond with one another.
Relationship:
Chaeyeon and Chen's relationship started off more than rocky, she practically hated him from the minute they officially met and while the feeling wasn't fully returned there was still a silent, unspoken of animosity between the two. However, with an intervention from some of the more forgiving members of their group, at the reason they needed to get along because of they were a team now (and a broken team wasn't going to bring down EX'ACT, so there were plenty of people trying to force her to get along with him). Naturally it wasn't met with warm welcomes, Chaeyeon venomously rejected even the idea until it took one of the more threatening members to taunt the idea of leaving her on her own and not saving her sisters and Junsu (which they knew about through her constantly talking of them). This causes her to immediately agree to reconciliation, much to her displeasure. Though Chen was in the same boat, disliking the idea of such a hateful little fairy constantly shooting him dark looks becoming friends with him. Even the idea of being remotely friendly with one another was a horrible taste in their mouths.
But the taunts held above their heads was enough to force them both into talking and sitting down with one another. Though it didn't immediately stop the almost visible hostility on both ends (though to be frank, it was particularly from Chaeyeon more so than Chen), and it was painstaking to get them in a room together. But slowly, with short sentences and silent agreements (and loud reminders that she was not going to accept him shocking her babies again) they began to talk and thus get to know each other enough to actually get the animosity to die down. Luckily, due to both their sociable natures, both being rather talkative, they were able to get to know each other quite quickly in comparison to other pairs. Especially in conjucture with their similar personalities (somewhat), both knowing exactly which buttons to press in order to get what they want.
Neither one of them is exactly shy, though, so are easily able to share things that are very personal to themselves. Eventually the animosity died between the two, after much getting to know each other both forced and by choice, turning into playfulness. Thier relationship becomes close and there's teasing (particularly compliments that are little jabs at one another that aren't meant to hurt), as well as them working together for him to practise his abilities (though she's a little hesistant, because she's kinda like 'pls don't shock me') and Chen's actively trying to make sure her plants are looked after (and keeping Chanyeol far away from her when he's practising, because he's also set a plant on fire in her presence, and he most definitely got his ears chewed out and then was smacked by a branch. Chen hasn't let him live it down). Plus both when combined as a pair are very good at tricking people, (she's cunning, he's crafty).
Due to how close they were able to grow (due to their openness), both became super comfortable around one another and she spent much of her time in his company because she felt the best around him and he always let her sit on his shoulder or in a shirt pocket while she was in her fairy form to travel (so she could relax, or in the case of the shirt pocket sleep). They do on occasion fight, their fights are nasty and very, very loud. It's a very intimate kind of fight, where things accidently slip, little secrets and personal details (they are always jumbled so no one else understands what they are saying) and then they get more angry at each other (with them harsh, but mostly meaningless words), but it's very close and often the other captured and experiements can't handle the energy between the two (kinda like angry, pent up ual frustration, but mixed with spoilt brattiness.). Eventually sometime they end up by getting together, just due to the fact that they had a somewhat friendship going on, but there was that ever so slightly underlying ual frustration that led into something that ended up into a relationship. And plus they had grown so close due to the fact that they knew so much about one another, so it was kind of natural.
Conclusion:
Chaeyeon and Chen would have found her sisters whilst freeing preserves, and despite the wariness and displeasure that all three of them might show towards Chen, they'd ultimately be won over by him (probably still disgruntled at the fact he wins most of her attention, tbh) because Chaeyeon would have been one of the angriest at being split up considering Hyeyeon went for a time without either of them and Seoyeon had a period to herself (Hyeyeon was still naive and figuring it out, she was a little late for Seoyeon's welcoming into the world and a sweet unicorn had found and looked after her until Hyeyeon had stumbling back), and Junsu spent years without them. The sisters and Junsu (who had found a lovely pixie at his preserve) wouldn't stray too far from Chaeyeon, but were decisive in spending time whenever with her (so they didn't stray too far).
While Chaeyeon may have felt a little hell bent on revenge for a time, she'd eventually just be quelled at releasing all the captured in the preserves because once she had her family back nothing else truly really mattered. Chen naturally, after it was all over, would have sat her down to decide what to do. He'd want her in his life, a perfect, semi-human life, whereas she'd be a little wary still of humans. It would take him months to convince her, slowly introducing her to the real, nice human world (stubbornly not giving up on her, she meant too much), and him heading back to university (where luckily he could pick up where he left off, EX'ACT was good for something). When she finally agreed, with many terms (big garden, lots of pot plants, she doesn't want to go out often, near the hill etc.), he was practically overjoyed. Chen wouldn't give up the blackjack life for a while, using it to do most of the bill paying (because Chaeyeon couldn't work, not really, and stayed at home most of the time), until he got a big business job to spoil the fairy. She'd get to meet his mother too, who loved her, though his father would be somewhat impartial to her.
But Chaeyeon knows that he'll grow old without her and chooses to give up her looks in favour of matching (somewhat, like she's going to stay young-ish looking for her 'age'), and accepts that she wants this human fantasy with him. (Maybe kids, probably a little, very adorable little girl, and they'll grow or she'll age with him.) But when he dies, she chooses to stay in favour of watching over her children/grandchildren etc, telling them about the events of her lifetime and when it comes to the end of her time she'll be happily waiting for him (no one else spoilt her like he did, she was his queen).
**I felt like I wanted a super, princess cheesy ending. Ugh**
You can call me monster; I'll be your lucky one
