Im Chaeyeon

Jessi | pengylee7 | Activity level 8/10

Plotline: The Fairy

Character Nickname(s):

pixie / it was given when she first entered the preserve (she doesn't know where it started from) and it's stuck since. she absolutely hates it, but it's growing on her slowly. used by just about anyone.

chae / the shortened version of her name, as over time her name was eventually shortened to chae by her friends and her sisters. used by friends and family.

Birthdate/Age: June 21st, 1939; true: 77; human: 22

Birthplace: Yongam Temple, South Korea

Hometown: Halla Mountain, Jeju, South Korea

Power: Earth (plants, animals)
[Abilities]
-She can communicate and understand animals.
-Ecological empathy
-Plant manipulation is her main power, and the only one she really uses. (*poison ivy, but fairy version*)
-Cause minor earthquakes and avalanches

[Limitations/Conditions]
-She's limited in geokinesis, and anything she does using it is typically minor unless she uses an unicorn as a power source (and with the help of her siblings). Even then it is still pretty weak (5.0 at most).
-If an environment is damaged enough, especially in her presence she can be hurt severely (mental pain, in the form of blisting headaches that cannot be stopped and just general pain). This doesn't apply to fruit/vegetables/edible plants because those don't feel pain towards that kind of thing.

-She can create plants out of nothing.
-Heavy plant manipulation in short periods of time will tire her out (a power nap or some fruit will recover her).
-Can use unicorns as a power/energy source, and will reduce the toll on her own body

[Fairy Physiology]
- Fairies live for about 250-300 years (more or less).
- Families are connected by 'rebirth' spot (see background for more)
- Fairies can have children (like can reproduce), but do so rarely because they have to find someone who is basically their soulmate (which is hard to do).
- Can control their outward aging, so many rarely appear over the age of 35. (though they do age internally).

Language(s):

▻ Fae / fluent / It's the natural language of fairies, though it's like only slightly different from pixiesh and elvish (like a hundred words, so each race can understand each other but there is a few word/pronunciation differences). Used only with those who can speak it.
▻ Korean / fluent / Korean is her native region language, and the one she learnt particularly for communication with creatures outside of fairies/pixies/elves. It's most often used, because it's the general language.
▻ Japanese / fluent / Chaeyeon spent close to a decade living in Japan among the Japanese fae, so she've very good at it (considering how much fairies like to talk)

You're beautiful; you're my goddess

Appearance:
[Fairy Form]

eye colour: deep green framed in black (x)
fairy height: 12.7cm (like tinkerbell tiny)
fairy weight: undefinable (practically weightless)
wings: soft pink with a pale white shine, translucent (x)
- Fairies are typically very tiny, however they aren't limited to their tiny natural forms and can freely change between the two sizes, human and fairy. However, most fae prefer their smaller forms especially after EX'ACT started hunting for them, due to their ability to hide and maneuver much quicker in their smaller forms. Chaeyeon doesn't have a favourite however, as she tends to stay in her human size as she risks facing punishment if she remains fairy sizes when with the scientists.
- Chaeyeon's hair always remains dark, as she has no intentions of touching it other than to cut it, she'd rather keep it healthy and natural. And her skin is highlighted by the darkness of her hair, and she appears rather pale. She thinks she's the most beautiful with dark hair as it naturally appears, to suggest changing it is to insult her beauty (watch out, she might get back at you if you say that).

[Human Form]
height: 163cm/1.63m/5"4'
weight: 43kg
- Chaeyeon, when she's actively posing as a human can hide her wings to an extent. Her wings vanish, at the cost of discomfort and 'cramping' of her wings. Which usually means she tries to keep them out pretty often.
- She's still kinda tiny when she's a human, but it's rare for fairies to be tall in general. Though she wonders what it'd be like to be tall.

Style:
[Fairy]
She usually wears loose, lightweight dresses in soft colours (unless it's winter, then she's putting fur lined dresses, leggings and a thick coat on). She prefers light pinks and whites particularly, but she's quite happy in just about any colour. Dresses that are backless, or have low cut backs are typically the best so her wings can happily be free and not be cramped (because cut outs on the backs of clothing don't really work, when she puts her wings away and then wants to pull them back out, it takes a little maneuvering of the clothing and poking the wings through like thread through needles. Not fun). She'll typically be barefooted, just to feel the dirt under her feet. (x)(x)

[Human]
As a human, she has tried to retain some of her fairy fashion and often likes to wear dresses. But she's getting used to the idea of wearing pants (particularly jeans, but only when it's colder), and enjoys wearing shorts a lot. Though skirts has been her to-go clothing, because again she's just comfortable in them. (x)

Personality:

— narcissistic, vain
Perhaps it inherent within fairies to love their appearances more than anything else (practically), even to the point that some elves have the saying the fairies are the children of Narcissus, whilst beautiful are completely and utterly in love with themselves. Chaeyeon is the center of her own world and loves for things to involve her or center around herself because it means people get to admire her, or at least talk about her. She absolutely believes she is one of the most beautiful fairies and openly announces that she is gorgeous (but that’s pretty normal for fairies), it also means she’s super conscious of bruises and scars, and is always on the lookout to make sure she avoids injury (it would mar her ever present beauty). Chaeyeon takes great pride in looking after everything close to her, and she's definitely not afraid to tell the whole world that she's satisfied with herself. Flattery will get you pretty much anywhere with Chaeyeon, with the bare exception of hurting people she cares about. Chaeyeon will have a mental breakdown (practically) if anything happens to her skin, or her hair, this will most likely lead the culprit into a place worse than hell. This is partially one of the reasons why she hates EX’ACT, they’ve been cutting her hair (for samples) and leaving her with one less layer of skin. There might even been a few small puncture marks on the innards of her elbows where they’ve stuck a needle or a hundred. Besides the pain, Chaeyeon is furious that they even dared harm and minutely and practically invisibly scar such a beautiful creature. It also means she often tries to get out doing any sort of hard, manual labor because it might cause her to get small practically invisible scratches (or get dirty, though she’s not as worried about dirt because she knows she can just rinse off), which would do her head in. But if there is an urgency to do something that could have the possibility of ruining her skin, especially when looking after her family or running from EX’ACT, she’s completely willing to disregard her personal appearance in favor of survival.

— jealous, possessive
Never steal from a fairy, they are a deeply possessive race of beings and do not take kindly to people trying to borrow or steal from them. Chaeyeon cannot stand people who even unknowingly take from her and is especially covetous over the attention of others. She’ll do anything and everything in her power to regain the attention of someone if they are being monopolized by anyone other than herself, that includes playing dirty. Chaeyeon doesn’t like anyone else (bar maybe her sisters) to be the center of attention and viciously protects her title as center of attention. Even in EX’ACT, though she may not completely admit it, she did love the constant attention of the scientists on her even if it was for negative purposes and felt quite at home in one of the observation rooms knowing they, even if they were evil humans, were watching the fairy. Chaeyeon liked to be the subject of conversations even at EX’ACT and often glared and seethed when they brought anyone else (one of the experiments or another captured) into the conversation, feeling offended when she's not complimented (or another creature is complimented and not her) and will remind you quite loudly that she's still there, because the least they could do for locking her up was devote all their time and attention to her. But Chaeyeon’s not solely focused (though it takes up the main bit of her day) on the attention of others and spends (most of what’s left over from not focusing on attention) time fighting for the small things, like objects/things/places if she wants to have them. Chaeyeon is not the kind of person who takes lightly to people who think they run the world, or are ‘above’ her, you bet your she will start chewing them out (and probably causing them misery until they conceded to her). She wants to be number one. Chaeyeon never knew how much she’d fight for the things she loved, what kind of lengths she’d go to. EX’ACT taught her that, she taught her how much she loved her family (maybe even taught her to fight for them more).

— emotional, sensitive, hot-tempered
Chaeyeon is highly in touch with her own emotions and the emotions of her fae element earth. She easily switches moods and is almost unpredictable in her moods. Chaeyeon cries very easily, whether it’s from being so angry that she has tears of frustration to moments where people or things succeed and she sheds tears of happiness, and it’s not just from her own experiences (so watch a tear fall when she sees you even slightly sad, and she will cry is someone else cries). She can’t hide her emotions either, she’s an open book with them because she feels them very strongly and very fleetingly. There was no way she could hide it even if she wanted to, particularly in EX’ACT where she wanted to hide her emotions particularly. But she’s not just susceptible to the emotions of her own and the people around him, she can feel the emotion of the plants around her (it’s really only the feeling of being revitalized, energy and of being in pain). However, Chaeyeon’s ability to feel the plants around her has dulled with the treatments and experiments under EX’ACT. She’s somewhat grateful for not having to feel the pain of plants on fire (which leaves her withering in pain, as if she was on fire herself), but she feels like she’s lost a part of herself due to it. When she discovered what they had done, after a series of paralyzing (temporarily) shock therapies and several injections of whatever concoction they had come up with, she had cracked and stormed up to one of many scientists angrily ranting at her in every language she knew and the surrounding environment locking the scientist into place leaving him vulnerable to her until a group of guards had come in and restrained her. Her temper has quieted in EX’ACT, but has grown much more aggressive when it is released upon its unfortunate victim.

— family-orientated, affectionate, loyal
Family ties are extremely important to Chaeyeon, in every sense of the word she is devoted to her family (despite lack of what the scientists called ‘traditional’ genetic links to her sisters). She would do nothing less than die protecting them, nothing gets in the way of her and her sisters. It is the one time that she would put something above herself and accept any sort of pain/marks/scars that came along with it, which is noteworthy considering she is the center of her own world. Chaeyeon is loyal to a fault, this girl will never betray someone she is close to and definitely never her family, but if you betray her first watch out because all hell will rain upon the person who has betrayed the small fae. She'll come after you in very painful ways. Chaeyeon is still fighting for them in EX’ACT, though it’s fighting to survive so she can go and find them or, even though it’s something she wishes to never imagine, avenge them. The fleeting thought sends shivers down her spine, she could cry (and late at night, when she knows she’s alone, she will shed a few tears), she doesn’t know what she’d do without them except for that she’d avenge any hurt caused to them. Nothing can convince her otherwise, she will go down for them. But it’s not just putting them in front of her own being, Chaeyeon is constantly after affection and her sibling’s attention most of all. She loves long, warm hugs, kisses on the cheek, holding hands and back hugs. Due to EX'ACT separating her family, she's felt quite alone at the preserve and to has led to self-inflicted isolation when she isn't with the scientists, because all she wants is her family (and doesn’t really want to bond with anyone else who isn’t her family). Yes, she loves having praise and compliments from strangers, but it means a hell of a lot more to her if these compliments come from her family or her loved ones (even if they tend to hand them out to her like candy). Though because of the focus on her wings from the scientists and the compliments they had to say about them, she’s a little wary of strangers compliments because she’s wary of the meaning they might have behind it. Particularly because they wanted to basically tear of her wings for study.

— chatty, outgoing, persuasive, persistent
Sadly, Chaeyeon doesn’t ever ‘shut up’. Well not really. She was born, bred and raised a fairy and she is very good at talking (particularly about herself, but that’s another story) and can approach anyone about anything. If you give her the opportunity, she will talk until she gets tired of talking or gets tired of her company. But her open, unworried friendliness only really extends to a few magical creatures. Chaeyeon has had a bad history with humans, EX’ACT isn’t the best first impression of them up close and personal, so Chaeyeon has little fond memories of them to go off and prefers to keep to herself in front of them. Give her time to inspect your intentions first and decide whether or not you are in a way ‘worthy’ enough for her to speak to you. But if she has a reason that pertains to herself (learning something, getting the gossip, making things better for herself, generally beneficial for her and her family), she’ll happily talk to anyone, because she’s after something. Though it’s often sheer persistence that keeps her continually on someone’s case in order to get what she wants, as it was the case inside EX’ACT where she continually badgered the scientists for something to numb the pain even a little, or for them to focus elsewhere rather than on her wings. Chaeyeon used every last energy store to try and convince them to not touch her wings, and while she may have been quiet generally, she was very loud in making sure they stayed the hell away from her wings. Her persistence was at an all-time high just to stay alive there. It most often buys her time even if it cannot completely persuade someone, all she wants is a little more room to move and come up with another plan or something else.

— vengeful, cunning
Chaeyeon was never someone to be on the wrong side of, and she's quite open to making sure people get what they deserve. Any sort of hurt inflicted by someone onto her, or her family will result in some sort of retribution from her. Whether it's the earth hating you for a little while, or some sort of torture. She's quite happy with anything so long as the person it's inflicted to deserves it. Her inability to go without retribution has made her very good at achieving her goals, whether it's through underhand tactics or sheer manipulation of force (she prefers to use underhand tactics to get what she wants because it's least likely to put suspicion upon her, and suspicion means marring her reputation), she will make sure people understand fairies aren't weak and they will make sure you hurt just as much as they or their dear ones have. Chaeyeon's desire for vengeance has grown in EX'ACT, her mind growing a little day in and out with what she continually wished she could do to the. She was going a little insane with being locked up and away from her family. She's dedicated much of her time to plotting what she'd going to do when she gets out, and she will, and she has it down like the back of her hand. All Chaeyeon wishes to do to the EX'ACT society is leave them pain stricken, hurt beyond repair; she's even thought about killing them for what they've done (her experiments and separating her siblings).

— clingy, spoilt
As the youngest of her family, Chaeyeon has been particularly spoilt by her sisters. Whether it was attention, gifts or praise, Chaeyeon got it all with her sisters, so now that it’s kind of the ‘norm’ for her. She isn’t used to not getting what she wants and will persist, whine or plot ways to achieve her goals. EX’ACT was kind of a shell shock to her, one of the few places that constantly rejected her wants and wills, so she’s gotten both put into her place but at the same time more driven to get what she wants. Chaeyeon also happens to be super clingy to people, whether it’s her sisters or Junsu (or later even Chen ;)))))), and often doesn’t like to be left alone. She loves to be taken care of, carried around (whether she’s in her fairy form, on the top of someone’s shoulders or being piggy backed in her human form), and it’s one of her favorite ways to be spoilt. Flattery and spoiling her is basically one of the easiest ways in her heart, or at least was. After EX’ACT, who tried to get her to reveal secrets and do certain experiments by both the above tricks, she’s super wary or someone and doesn’t like to openly tell people that that’s what she enjoys most. Chaeyeon is going to be shut off from you until she knows that it’s okay (she’ll talk, but it’s meaningless. She doesn’t really say anything important anymore until she feels like it’s safe).

Background:
"Fairies are unique, that's what Chaeyeon was always told, they were born in things relating to their powers. Their families were connected by the same rebirth spot and for an earthen fairy like herself, it was plants (flowers, bushes, trees) or rock formations that linked them together as family. And these fairy families always watched out for their vulnerable younger siblings as they were reborn into this new world."

[Magical Beginnings] Chaeyeon was no exception to this rule, born under the summer solstice in beautiful pink mugunghwa flowers hidden in the forest behind a temple. Her fae sisters, Hyeyeon and Seoyeon finding her tucked safely away in a mugunghwa flower until they had arrived, the flower opening up at the sight of the two elder fae. The two elder fairies had felt the instinctual pull that lead them back home, where they knew almost instantly that they had a new sister to look after. However, they hadn’t been the only ones awaiting the arrival of the young fae, a gentle, sweet-hearted unicorn had taken up residence weeks earlier watching over the forest awaiting the arrival of the fairies.

Hyeyeon and Seoyeon took care to safely pick up and cradle the still sleeping fae, taking her back into the temple where the unicorn had greeted them and allowed them safe haven inside the temple (considering it was a troubled period in Korean history, they were grateful). Chaeyeon woke up not too long after being moved, her first sight in her new life were her two sisters whom had stayed watching over her, both Hyeyeon and Seoyeon falling in love with their baby sister. Chaeyeon’s two sisters doted over the baby fae, Hyeyeon and Seoyeon took over the role as her guardian, splitting the duties between the two, both going out of their ways to spoil and care for the young fae in order to see her grow up happy. It was an unspoken agreement within fae families to stay together. The two elder fairies chose to remain in the temple of Chaeyeon’s birth, under the guidance of the wise, sweet-hearted unicorn, Kyungli, whom had welcomed them with open arms. They used the peace and quiet of the area to help build Chaeyeon’s powers, Kyungli helping to patch up any scratches and bruises from failed attempts of taming her powers, treating her like her own. Much of her time was in the presence of any number of the three other inhabitants of the temple, whether it was for power practice, talking or cuddles, Chaeyeon was constantly the center of attention there.

[Haven] But when Kyungli decided to continue on, feeling the need to continue her journey, the elder fairies decided that it was time to move on from the isolation of the temple and introduce Chaeyeon to her inheritance as a fairy among other fairies (1939). They began south, towards one of the largest hidden fairy cities in Korea, Haven (Bomun Pavilion). It was a tedious journey, where Chaeyeon was constantly hand-in-hand with one of her elder sisters and never left alone in fear that she may be found by a human. Hyeyeon and Seoyeon constantly warned her of the humans and how it wasn’t safe to be left alone, that they liked to destroy the nature fairies had been born to care and look after, however, the story that most haunted Chaeyeon was the one that humans liked to pluck the wings of fairies off. Even the idea of Chaeyeon losing her wings had her shying away from the prospect of nearing human settlements, she loved her wings too much to lose them. Eventually they reached Haven, Chaeyeon comforted to be surrounded by the fae and was intrigued by the intermix of species found in Haven. She’d only ever been told of pixies and elves, so Haven was a collection of learning experiences. There Hyeyeon and Seoyeon took the opportunity to have Chaeyeon learn off a fairy teacher, whom could teach her how to do things they couldn’t.

[Junsu] During this opportunity to learn from fairies other than her sister, she met the snarky fire pixie Junsu. Both naturally hit it off with one another, their social skills inherent, befriending each other quickly. Though Chaeyeon began to expand her social circle away from her sisters, she always found herself returning to them and relying on them to help her when she needs it (even if she doesn’t ask for it). Hyeyeon and Seoyeon often travelled with Chaeyeon to meet her friends, judging them (and outwardly showing their discontent at sharing their dearest baby sister with the world) but oddly approved of Junsu almost immediately (despite the difference in element/power), they claimed they could sense a brother bond somewhere there with him.
But Chaeyeon’s sisters eventually wished to continue travelling, missing the quiet of the wilderness, and the sisters all agreed, choosing to leave the bustling Haven to find somewhere new to proclaim home (1959). However, Junsu didn’t wish to let go of his best/childhood friend, instead choosing to accompany the females as he was now of age to make his own decisions and felt his happiest with the sisters.

[Ocean-Moon Fesitival] They chose their next destination as the Donghae Residence on the Eastern Coast, wishing to visit the small seasonal fairy hotspot in time for the annual fairy-mermaid festival in celebration of the Ocean-Moon festival held under the Spring Equinox. Though it usually was water fairies, nymphs and mermaids that took part in the celebrations, as the water called for them in a way much like the earth called for Chaeyeon and her sisters, and fire to Junsu. It was beautiful at the Donghae residence with a view of the emerald blues of the sea, many water fairies lingering and loitering around the residence allowing Chaeyeon the opportunity to mingle and befriend many of them. As the moon rose, and the party began, the mermaids beginning to arise from the water and lounge in the shallows that had existed in secluded lagoon that the festival began in. Chaeyeon was quick to figure out that she didn’t like some of the resident mermaids, prominently the younger ones who were eying up Junsu with dirty looks instantly recognizing his fire (fire and water don’t mix). She kept it in for a little while, only shooting them looks and distracting Junsu away from the small collection of mermaids, that is until one of them decided to comment on his presence. It cracked her civil disposition, causing her to turn viciously to the mermaid that had said such a thing, calling them out for their behavior. Chaeyeon didn’t hold back on her opinion of the mermaids and eventually causing both parties to leave the festival early.

[Across the Sea] Chaeyeon, her sisters and Junsu didn’t stay too long in Donghae after that, Chaeyeon not wanting to set eyes on the horrible mermaids that had insulted Junsu or even mermaids in general. They chose to follow the seasonal festivals along the Korean peninsula, unable to find a home that suited all the group yet, until they eventually made their way over to Japan (1987). They were welcomed warmly by the Japanese fae, whom were entirely alike and unlike their Korean brethren, helping them settle into Japanese society with easy. However, within this new society she had new competition for the attention of Junsu, who was fascinated by the fae society that resided so far from home and said fairies were more than happy to steal his time away from her. Chaeyeon was disgruntled, have grown up with much of his attention settled on her (it was platonic adoration for her, they felt nothing more than a strong bond of family). This monopolizing of his time really brought out Chaeyeon’s inner demons, becoming a prime example of the inherent covetous nature all fairies hide away. It didn’t help when both parties were aware of the competition for his time, Chaeyeon smugly using underhanded tactics to steal back her Junsu and playing dirty when they tried to fight back, even rubbing it in by long hugs, pecks of the cheeks and general clinginess.

[Change] Chaeyeon quickly desired a change in scenery once she realized that she would be fighting for a long time with the fairies, convincing her sisters easily that it was time to move onwards (her sisters were far too happy to please their youngest sister, plus while Chaeyeon wasn’t aware of it, there were plenty of people trying to vie for her time and they couldn’t allow her to be taken away from them). Fairies are the center of their own worlds, often everything done is beneficial to them or someone close to them. And the clan decided to move towards the small settlement of Uto, near Mount Kirishima (1989). Uto was a magical spot for the clan, Chaeyeon used the opportunity of a small population to grow close to those outside of her clan. It seemed like a permanent settlement for the group, everyone’s powers growing with the help of the resident fairies (particularly the strong forest and flower fairies that resided in Uto), whom had been persuaded to give up some of their tricks. Even Junsu’s fire grew, though it came with its own negatives too, like the one time Junsu accidently set Chaeyeon’s prized poppies she’d grown from scratch on fire, leaving them in ash and causing one large headache for Chaeyeon to deal with (even collapsing out of pain). In the aftermath of that incident, Junsu had been lectured until he wanted to scratch his ears out and Chaeyeon had decided never to go near Junsu when he was practicing.

[Homesick] But even this paradise had its ending date, the group eventually feeling homesick, choosing to say goodbye to the place they had grown to love and returning to Korea. It was upon their return to Korea (2000) that they finally made the trip to the island of Jeju, it’s beautiful nature drawing them to it, but the damage done by humans repulsing them. Chaeyeon knew of the stories of humans, had seen the aftermath of some of it, needless to say was completely and utterly unimpressed by humans. Due to the nature of concrete jungles living flush against beautiful wilderness, Chaeyeon often had a dull headache she had to ignore when she strayed too close to the humans. If there’s one thing Chaeyeon hates, it’s to be in pain so the humans weren’t winning any points in her books there. But there was an upside to Jeju, the group had found a place where they felt most at home, upon Halla Mountain. It was high enough to keep any sorts of headaches away and it was a dormant volcano, so it was perfect for Junsu to practice on.

[Found] However, it all ended when EX’ACT found them (2005), a hiker had had an unusually fall when trying to hike the mountain, causing authorities to come and investigate. This lead the EX'ACT society right to their doorstep, and they were captured before they could even escape.

Present:
[Seperate] Upon the capture of the siblings and Junsu upon Halla Mountain, they were decisively separated after observing the way they fought for one another (it left several guards with blackish bruises, lines of bloody scratches, third degree burns and multiple allergic reactions to plants). Chaeyeon was separated from her family, all of them being taken to different holding sites until they were locked in different preserves. Chaeyeon was one of the first to be separated from her family to test what it'd do to a fairy, as it had never been done yet.

[Alone] Within her preserve, Chaeyeon only bonded briefly with other caught fairies, but she had never felt more alone in the preserve. She was a particular favorite of the scientists and was taken in for experimentations and observations often. She was fiery in the beginning, trying to fight off any scientists and their equipment, but her will to fight against them was quelled slowly until she was outwardly compliant. They injected her with various poisons (she's immune to many of the organic plant based ones, the creature venoms however she's not immune to), and subjected her to various types of magic. Anything they did left her crying out in pain, curled into a ball trying to fight for her survival. Chaeyeon loathed the scientists, EX’ACT for doing this to her. The pain they were subjecting her to she promised to return tenfold and it became an ever burning fire within her to one-day exact revenge for what was being done to her.

[Borrowed Time] But nothing could be worse, other than the separating of her family, than when they started to become obsessive over her wings. Attempting to touch, take samples and damage them. This is where Chaeyeon began to outwardly oppose them once again, the only time she had done so after being ‘tamed’. She could live with the pain of being injected, forced under things, but her wings were far more important and they do not grow back so readily. Chaeyeon was under borrowed time when it came to her wings, but her lucky break came with the mass escape. She was going to have her vengeance, to see them suffer for what they had done, and then she was going to get her family back as one. Chaeyeon's heart has hardened at the sight of humans, she isn't going to trust them with anything. She has an auto reaction now to believe they are just there to hurt her, to take what is hers from her. While she could blend in with them, she really wants to stay secluded away from the human populace. It will take stubborn people to get her to forgive and forget, and to convince her that not all humans are bad.

Trivia:

Family:

eldest sister | im hyeyeon  | true: 107; human: 29
| fairy| calm, narcissitic, responsible, optimistic

Hyeyeon has had her eyes on Chaeyeon ever since she was welcomed to the world, and adores the young fae deeply. Hyeyeon would give the world for her two sisters, and while she may not always show it (she does try) she is doing the best she knows how for them. She is often the responsible one, of both Chaeyeon and Seoyeon, and worries about her sisters endlessly. Naturally as the oldest, and having the most developed earthen powers, she's taken it upon herself to mentor Chaeyeon in her abilities and constantly praises the young fae. Hyeyeon believes something greater is destined for Chaeyeon and avidly believes in the saying that solstice born children are stronger than there brethren. However, it's her family and she's always going to believe they are all destined for greatness, so it might be pride holding that claim up at this point. But a fairy can believe. Hyeyeon's always going to behind her sisters, no matter what.
Chaeyeon on the other hand is completely thankful for Hyeyeon always standing by her side, holding her hand (or wings) when she needed help. And damn right standing against those mermaids that insulted her. Hyeyeon's responsibility has helped keep them together at times and without her, Chaeyeon wasn't quite sure what she'd've done, plus her lessons have helped Chaeyeon's control immensely so it's just another thing to be thankful of.

immature sister | im seoyeon  | true: 100; human: 27 | fairy| immature, energetic, forgetful, prideful

Seoyeon is the complete opposite to Hyeyeon, except when it comes to loving Chaeyeon. Seoyeon has a brand of 'fun love' involving more play than actual life lessons, so what Chaeyeon learnt from her is how to enjoy life. Though she's not a bad teacher either, though her earthern magic is usually directed as tricks and challenges rather than useful/control tips. Seoyeon thinks learning to have fun is one of the greatest attributes in life, and what's the point in being a fairy if one can't have fun doing it. Plus there's wings, so Seoyeon's self-professedly 'set' for life. And this 'fun' is what she intends to teach Chaeyeon. Chaeyeon is particularly the apple of Seoyeon's eyes, as she was the younger sibling she could play with and befriend even though she was further in age than what Hyeyeon was.
Chaeyeon loves Seoyeon, she enjoys her company as a break from seriousness though she does wish at times Seoyeon would be a little more responsible at times. Both sisters can be inseperable from each other at times, and both share a very clingy streak with can leave them clinging to one another for hours at a time.

Friends:

▻ childhood bestfriends (practically family) | ahn junsu | true: 77; human 25 | fire pixie| cunning, loyal, righteous, zany

Junsu is a friend forged in lessons, and is only one to have stuck with Chaeyeon her entire life. Originally percieved as a love interest by Hyeyeon and Seoyeon, which he got much teasing from, Junsu proved himself as a life long pseudo brother to Chaeyeon. His personality compliments Chaeyeon's very much, and he's down for just about any kind of trick or challenge she'll put him up to. Not to mention his flowing river of compliments.  Junsu thinks Chaeyeon is a breath of fresh air, and surprisingly can put up with the vainly proud attitude. It's grown on him, not to mention he absolutely loves her hugs and her 'clinginess', he's not sure that Chaeyeon knows (she does) but he's not going to tell her.
Chaeyeon holds him close to her heart, and thinks he's quite easily the greatest pixie to be there her entire life. Perhaps while Chaeyeon doesn't quite think him love interest material, she's definitely stuck with his friendship for life (and yes, she's going to find him a lovely pixie or fairy partner in the future). The only thing you'll find these two disagreeing about is power practising, she won't go 50 feet near him in fear of her precious plant babies (because of the one time he messed up and set her poppy plant on fire, she was both in pain from it and super angry at him. Lesson learnt).

Experiment #21

huang zitao #68

Kim Jongdae

Character Nickname(s):

Chen || he's had this name since he was a kid, considering the fact his name got mixed up all the time and there was quite a bit of teasing there.

Birthdate/Age: September 21st, 1992; 24

Birthplace: Siheung, South Korea

Hometown: Seoul, South Korea

Background:
Born Kim Jongdae in Siheung, Chen's life was very different in the beginning. He was the illegitimate second child of his mother, Minjung, whom had had an affair to a wealthy elite member of the Korean mafia. His mother’s involvement stemmed from a debt of her sisters and in order to pay it off, she pleaded with them, eventually falling in love with a senior elite inner circle member, Kim Jungnam, (despite having a husband and a son at home) and clearing the debt. Jongdae was born little over eight months after their last encounter, after Minjung was unable to bear aborting the child of her lover.

While his mother’s guilt ate her away internally, she raised the boy close to her, and made sure to cover every track in order to hide the paternity of her child from her husband. He was the apple of her eyes, and could do no wrong. This caused the slightest of resentment from Jongdeok, his elder brother, whom never quite caught the attention of his mother like Jongdae was able to and lead them to being unable to form a close sibling bond.

However, in the place of the lack of his brother’s friendship and companionship, Jongdae became the child whom befriended everyone. He was good at putting himself out there, confident where other children were crying behind their parents. Jongdae was always trying to put himself out there, persisting even when people didn’t want to comply and befriend him in return. A trait, as recognized by Minjung, from his real father. But she didn’t discourage it, as she knew that her husband wouldn’t notice it or would at least brush it off as good parenting.

Early on, in his first years of school, he was gifted the nickname ‘Chen’ from one of the Chinese exchange students, due to the constant mix ups of his name (**I remember somewhere in an interview his name got mixed up a lot with another Korean word in school**) and his resemblance to a Chinese actor of the same name. Eventually it became the name everyone used, aside from his family and on occasion his close friends, and in a way was a sign that he wasn’t quite destined for ‘normality’ (**a Chinese name in a bunch of Koreans, his blood not exactly fitting into his family**).

Trouble followed him, he grew bored with school pretty quickly, choosing to play tricks and be a social butterfly over studying for countless hours. Jongdae played tricks on just about anyone, tripping them or deceiving them. Anything for a laugh, but he wasn’t ever malicious about it, just harmless little things and quickly grew into the role of class clown. And when in high school a group of guarded boys enrolled, he befriended them too and unknowingly ended him on the path that lead him to EX’ACT.

His mother continued to watch out for her youngest child, covering for him against his father and protecting any signs that there was something different there. But recognized that he was perhaps destined to for the same things as his father when he confided in her what his new friends had shown him. She knew there wasn’t a way out and told him that he’d have to look out for himself, but that she’d be there if needed.

It was then he allowed himself to discover the darker sides of society, quickly delving into gambling and acting as a ‘third-party’ during business deals. He built his skills more and more, becoming able to read people and had an innately good intuition for being able to sense people feelings and intentions. Because of the praise he received for all his abilities, his ego continued to grow as he achieved more, as he won more and more, clearing out tables and gambling crowds.

He tried, for his mother’s sake, to continue his normal act at school, eventually graduating school with decent grades. From whence he chose to continue into university at Hanyang Business University (though there might have been slight bribes to guarantee entry), and finally moving out of home into a small university dorm in Seoul that allowed him to expand his underground reach and of course his social circle.

But all things come and go around. And with his continual involvement in his illegal activities, there were people who weren't exactly happy to lose out to him (sometimes whole fortunes were lost), and arranged a service to have him kidnapped.

This is where EX’ACT came in, using the chance to take another test subject and forcing him into the program. Telling his family he was off on a remote student exchange (with a cash compensation) and would be unable to contact them for a while.

After passing through round after round of preliminary testing, he was finally confirmed a match for the genome testing and began the first round of injections. They were unlike anything he'd ever experienced before, and the first wolf ones burned him from the inside. Jongdae out much of the time, but when he was awake all he could feel was a sicken feeling of his blood boiling. Jongdae was in an intense fever for several days while his blood boilt, and he couldn't move all too much but he definitely made sure the scientists knew he was still with the land of the living by being very loud (screaming in pain).

When the burning and boiling finally disappeared he's never felt more relief. But that was when the serpent's genome came in, this time it was far more dangerous than blood boiling. In actuality his heart was starting and stopping for the first day, day and a half after the first injection. Then it felt like he was continually jolted awake in painful shocks. But like the first, it too stopped leaving him with weak electrical powers. The following injections weren't nearly as bad, aside from being unable to sleep due to being shocked awake every few minutes until the genome was fully settled.

When Chen began to discover his powers from the serpent, he'd somewhat felt a little detached to himself because he felt unrecognizable now with the new powers. He felt anger towards the scientists for what they had done, but it increased tenfold when he finally witnessed the treatment of the creatures. He felt repulsed by the fact he was being treated well, while they were living in cruelty. And it started to fuel a desire to leave and free the creatures who deserved better than this.

Personality:

— outgoing, confident
Jongdae is inherently very confident in a social sphere, he’s never been put off by anything and continually tries to become friends with world. Though it can sometimes be a stupid idea to befriend certain people in the first place, he always does it and follows the bond and sees where it leads him. This though, it a stupid trait, because like many will agree (and maybe Jongdae begrudgingly) it leads him to the worst case and positions he’s been to in his life. It’s lead him to the underground of society, but to Jongdae’s defense it’s also allowed him to meet some of the greatest people in his life. He’s a little uninhibited when it comes to meeting and talking to people and often he might say too much, which can turn people away from him because they might assume he’s annoying (which he can be at times, but he’s pretty endearing generally). This trait was particularly useful when he was making deals and sitting playing card games because it made him see bigger than he was or that he had/knew something they didn’t and usually benefitted him. It also allowed people to approach him more, because of his confidence in what he was doing so many people instinctively think he knows what he’s doing (sometimes that is completely untrue though). His confidence only has ever been really tested and cracked a bit was at the EX’ACT preserves, where the complete change and addition of powers made him lose sight of himself to the point he felt almost unrecognizable even though he it was really just powers being added to him. But Jongdae’s outgoing nature benefitted him under the treatment of scientists, being able to befriend or build a camaraderie with them in order to lessen the pain of the treatments though they couldn’t take it all away.
— loud, erted, whiny
But for all his friendliness, there's a whole other side to him under his general friendliness once you get to know him. He's very loud, this guy to can a rooms attention in less than a couple of words and knows how to command the attention. Chen has openly said, more than once, that he has a '' mind and it shows up ever now and then at the most opportune moments. He's the first to tease anyone about anything, and yes that means if someone doesn't even a slightly suspicious thing he's on it making a joke about it. Which sometimes can get rather annoying, however just knock him back a few pegs and you'll be fine with him. And then he has another, other side to him. This would be the other half that makes him pretty unique to himself, king of whininess. He'll complain about anything he wants and because he's so loud, he makes sure his complaints are heard loud and clear. These sides of him haven't ultimately changed through the process of practically dying at the hands of EX'ACT, except for the fact he didn't crack any erted jokes during his time there (which killed him a little on the inside, because there were some goddamn good ones). And then there was the whininess, which many scientists will clearly remember as one of his most defining traits. He was the first, last and anywhere inbetween person to complain about the pain of a genome injection, or the affects of it, or even the quality of his meals. Chen literally was probably the loudest there (hey, they were paid to make weapons so like if he's alive, kicking and screaming or in this case whining. it's working).
— independent, brave
Jongdae has been able to look after himself for a long time, especially due to his prolonged exposure to the nature of underground deals and gambling. He knows what it takes to survive on your own, especially in some of the worse conditions and circumstances. It’s quite remarkable at what he’s been able to achieve with just his will and mental power, pushing himself into situations some can only dream of. It keeps him from living a boring life, but sometimes he pushes the limits too much. Jongdae can, on occasion, be stupidly brave and take risks that most definitely have no possibility of a positive outcome, which always lead to some sort of hurt and need an equally brave/stupid person to pull his back to the good side of life. But just because he needs the help to escape doesn’t mean he’ll ask for it, this guy wants to do things on his own a lot and so doesn’t often involve another party/person unless it is relating to them as well. Jongdae’s bravery was damaged a little in EX’ACT, often leading to the slightest of hesitation when it comes to plunging head first into something, but usually in the end he does it anyway. However, the hesitation can lead to a weakness, action may be taken a little late at times, which then can result in far more disastrous situation.
— stubborn, persistant
This man is the definition of being able to get through and achieve something if he tries hard enough. He's worked through every last bump in the road, because he's stubborn enough to not give into failure. It's something he's not going to accept. Jongdae will stand stubborn in the road, if it means that he can keep moving on and achieve his goals in life. He'll persistently follow them until he's completed them or fully accepted that they cannot be accomplished reasonably.
The fact he's been able to achieve the goals he's set for himself makes him quite proud of his achievements, and will boast them if he knows someone is going to listen (though he won't likely repeat it twice to you if unless he's exceptionally proud of it.). However if you're willing to listen twice, he'll cling to you, because inside he wants someone to listen to him boast (let's not lie here, we all like people listening to use boast about ourselves). Jongdae is a little cocky at this point from it, even his ego will inflate a little bit more with everything he accomplishes, and sometimes he can be plain annoying about it. Tell him to shut up, and he most likely will (or not to annoy you). This stubbornness and persistence has helped keep this man alive under the test conditions and the injections he's faced. It's been tried and tested, and he's proven to be one of the much more stubborn s that EX'ACT has faced. But even Jongdae needs to be told where to give up, he hasn't yet learned where there needs to be a stop. To stop persisting because there is no answer and there is no way out. But this man will try his damndest to make sure he keeps going, even if the path is destructive. Though this stubborness might be tinged with angry or frustration, mainly due to some pent up angry towards EX'ACT and what they did to the captured and what they did to everyone.
perceptive, intuitive
Jongdae, over time, especially after he entered the gambling ring, learned the art of being able to read people’s expressions and emotions from sitting in on may card games. While it has allowed him to look past poker faces, it’s also become an everyday attribute when it comes to his social skills as he’s benefitted from it immensely and sometimes thought of it as a curse. Chen, most of the time outside of gambling and business deals, uses it to help befriend people and know what to say and what not to say. Sometimes he sees too much and knows sometimes too personal of things (which often gives him grime insight to things like abuse etc., making it sometimes hard to be around other people, especially strangers). But this trait also gives him the upper hand and combined with his natural attitude to follow and achieve what he wants, makes him one of the best when it comes to people. But it suffered slightly while under EX’ACT’s influence as while he could still read the expressions of scientists, his senses were somewhat distorted by the insertion of genomes into his body. This has made his ability somewhat, off, and makes him doubt himself more so now than in the past.
crafty, deft
Something that Jongdae has picked up over time through his 'activities' is how to be very quick, to be clever at coming up with ideas to get through stuff or turn a situation to his advantage. Combined with his perceptiveness, it's given him an edge with any kind of card games meaning he's close to unbeatable. He also uses this to trick people around him, he's nice and all but it doesn't mean he's not above being a crafty little to achieve what he's after. He's used these skills a few times in EX'ACT, but he's started to hesistate a little on them and the hesistation isn't good. It could lead to huge problems, especially in split second moments where it really counts.
— forgetful, defensive, thick skinned, resilient
Sadly, Jongdae is resistant to most negativity. Sadly this also means he might miss half of what you're saying too. Beware of telling him things, because he might just forget, and then things can go downhill from there when people take offense because he hasn't rememebered something important. It has led to some pretty serious situations before, and well let's just say they weren't pretty. But if you think he's going to just take it, he won't. He refuses to sit there and be accused, or even be slandered against and he's going to defend himself until his dying breath. He knows protecting himself is one of the most important things he needs to do in his life. Jongdae is good at bouncing back, it's in his nature. No wonder he was a chosen subject, his mentality has probably been one of the greatest assets he has had during the process. Jongdae being able to bounce back means he's not going to stay under for long. EX'ACT has truely tested this resilience, with death experiements (that he's survived). He's probably become more forgetful though (the shocks did something after all, they were pretty nasty too). But he's come out battered, but trying to stay true to himself.

Summary:
He was born on the 21st, a lucky number. Jongdae was convinced he was born lucky, and he's never lost a game of Blackjack (so definitely very lucky). But now he's pretty convinced it's run out after that kidnapping. And of course he'd piss off one of the captured by accident.

First Meeting:
Chen and Chaeyeon technically meet when she's on the verge of attacking a guard, howling in pain from whatever they'd decided to do that day (she's sure it was some kind of wretched poison that they'd injected her with, definitely not made using plants). Chen's guard had been called over to help contain her, forcing him to be locked into a glass observation room opposite her's until the matter had been dealt with. Chaeyeon vaguely spotted him out of the corner of her eye and turned to lock eyes with him, only for her to scowl and snap back to her captures whom shocked her until she passed out, head hitting the concrete ground.

However, they only met when the doors had been opened from their 'cages' and both were bolting for the nearest door. She spotted him first, threatening him with vines that'd choke him to death if he attempted to stop her, only for him to yell that he was trying to escape. Chaeyeon couldn't believe a human was trying to escape, considering they were in charge here and attempted to use vines to lift him up and demand answers. Only to have him shock the life out of them, causing her an immensely painful headache and him having to carry her out before they were caught. When she finally came to, they were a reasonable distance and she was furious, yelling at him, before threatening him again if he didn't answer her questions. He obliged, figuring it was better to befriend the fae in case she really got the upper hand and they finally introduced themselves.

Chen wasn't entirely happy to be attacked by her, considering he wanted to escape too. But sort of expected it after seeing how they had treated the creatures, expecting them to be somewhat hostile to humans (though he's not even sure what he is himself) and while he was frustrated by her, he tried to be somewhat understanding of what they may feel like. Chaeyeon on the other hand didn't believe him in the beginning, that he wanted to escape too, until he told her the entire story and even then she was suspicious of him. Let alone the fact he hurt her plant babies, so she full out ignored him (opting out of any sort of revenge because of his 'story') until they met up with the group, where she confirmed his story. But this girl still continued to ignore him out of sheer unhappiness and simmering anger for her plants. However, Chaeyeon was eventually made to speak to him again, as this whole group thing wasn't going to work otherwise, and gave the opportunity to start to bond with one another.

Relationship:
Chaeyeon and Chen's relationship started off more than rocky, she practically hated him from the minute they officially met and while the feeling wasn't fully returned there was still a silent, unspoken of animosity between the two. However, with an intervention from some of the more forgiving members of their group, at the reason they needed to get along because of they were a team now (and a broken team wasn't going to bring down EX'ACT, so there were plenty of people trying to force her to get along with him). Naturally it wasn't met with warm welcomes, Chaeyeon venomously rejected even the idea until it took one of the more threatening members to taunt the idea of leaving her on her own and not saving her sisters and Junsu (which they knew about through her constantly talking of them). This causes her to immediately agree to reconciliation, much to her displeasure. Though Chen was in the same boat, disliking the idea of such a hateful little fairy constantly shooting him dark looks becoming friends with him. Even the idea of being remotely friendly with one another was a horrible taste in their mouths.

But the taunts held above their heads was enough to force them both into talking and sitting down with one another. Though it didn't immediately stop the almost visible hostility on both ends (though to be frank, it was particularly from Chaeyeon more so than Chen), and it was painstaking to get them in a room together. But slowly, with short sentences and silent agreements (and loud reminders that she was not going to accept him shocking her babies again) they began to talk and thus get to know each other enough to actually get the animosity to die down. Luckily, due to both their sociable natures, both being rather talkative, they were able to get to know each other quite quickly in comparison to other pairs. Especially in conjucture with their similar personalities (somewhat), both knowing exactly which buttons to press in order to get what they want.

Neither one of them is exactly shy, though, so are easily able to share things that are very personal to themselves. Eventually the animosity died between the two, after much getting to know each other both forced and by choice, turning into playfulness. Thier relationship becomes close and there's teasing (particularly compliments that are little jabs at one another that aren't meant to hurt), as well as them working together for him to practise his abilities (though she's a little hesistant, because she's kinda like 'pls don't shock me') and Chen's actively trying to make sure her plants are looked after (and keeping Chanyeol far away from her when he's practising, because he's also set a plant on fire in her presence, and he most definitely got his ears chewed out and then was smacked by a branch. Chen hasn't let him live it down). Plus both when combined as a pair are very good at tricking people, (she's cunning, he's crafty).

Due to how close they were able to grow (due to their openness), both became super comfortable around one another and she spent much of her time in his company because she felt the best around him and he always let her sit on his shoulder or in a shirt pocket while she was in her fairy form to travel (so she could relax, or in the case of the shirt pocket sleep). They do on occasion fight, their fights are nasty and very, very loud. It's a very intimate kind of fight, where things accidently slip, little secrets and personal details (they are always jumbled so no one else understands what they are saying) and then they get more angry at each other (with them harsh, but mostly meaningless words), but it's very close and often the other captured and experiements can't handle the energy between the two (kinda like angry, pent up ual frustration, but mixed with spoilt brattiness.). Eventually sometime they end up by getting together, just due to the fact that they had a somewhat friendship going on, but there was that ever so slightly underlying ual frustration that led into something that ended up into a relationship. And plus they had grown so close due to the fact that they knew so much about one another, so it was kind of natural.

Conclusion:
Chaeyeon and Chen would have found her sisters whilst freeing preserves, and despite the wariness and displeasure that all three of them might show towards Chen, they'd ultimately be won over by him (probably still disgruntled at the fact he wins most of her attention, tbh) because Chaeyeon would have been one of the angriest at being split up considering Hyeyeon went for a time without either of them and Seoyeon had a period to herself (Hyeyeon was still naive and figuring it out, she was a little late for Seoyeon's welcoming into the world and a sweet unicorn had found and looked after her until Hyeyeon had stumbling back), and Junsu spent years without them. The sisters and Junsu (who had found a lovely pixie at his preserve) wouldn't stray too far from Chaeyeon, but were decisive in spending time whenever with her (so they didn't stray too far).

While Chaeyeon may have felt a little hell bent on revenge for a time, she'd eventually just be quelled at releasing all the captured in the preserves because once she had her family back nothing else truly really mattered. Chen naturally, after it was all over, would have sat her down to decide what to do. He'd want her in his life, a perfect, semi-human life, whereas she'd be a little wary still of humans. It would take him months to convince her, slowly introducing her to the real, nice human world (stubbornly not giving up on her, she meant too much), and him heading back to university (where luckily he could pick up where he left off, EX'ACT was good for something). When she finally agreed, with many terms (big garden, lots of pot plants, she doesn't want to go out often, near the hill etc.), he was practically overjoyed. Chen wouldn't give up the blackjack life for a while, using it to do most of the bill paying (because Chaeyeon couldn't work, not really, and stayed at home most of the time), until he got a big business job to spoil the fairy.
She'd get to meet his mother too, who loved her, though his father would be somewhat impartial to her.

But Chaeyeon knows that he'll grow old without her and chooses to give up her looks in favour of matching (somewhat, like she's going to stay young-ish looking for her 'age'), and accepts that she wants this human fantasy with him. (Maybe kids, probably a little, very adorable little girl, and they'll grow or she'll age with him.) But when he dies, she chooses to stay in favour of watching over her children/grandchildren etc, telling them about the events of her lifetime and when it comes to the end of her time she'll be happily waiting for him (no one else spoilt her like he did, she was his queen).

**I felt like I wanted a super, princess cheesy ending. Ugh**

You can call me monster; I'll be your lucky one

Comments/Suggestions: So I think I'm a little addicted to the idea of this story (looking at you Kira, thanks so much). But hopefully it all made sense, if not it can be explained/fixed
