Language of Flowers: Other Facts

Now that Language of Flowers is over I thought I’d share some extra things that I never wrote for it in the story, but they are truths about the characters! So here it is. It’s kinda long so prepare yourselves:

  • Changkyun’s past: He was the super genius of these two outstanding scientists in their field. His parents tried to give him love but they were never really there for him growing up. Worst of all when he started going to school he was bullied by the other kids. They moved to Boston for research, and Changkyun found out that no one really cared about him or his background there. When they moved back to Korea, the bullying got worse and the pressures set by the other kids became terrible. His parents moved him away to his aunt’s house, where he changed his last name to Im Changkyun (a stupid change but what can I do) but since he dropped the surname ‘Lim’ he became more accepted and the bullying stopped because his connection to his parents was no more. He takes back his surname in college.
  • Changkyun’s aunt lived in the same neighborhood as Hyungwon’s and Eunbyul’s. As such Changkyun and Eunbyul know each other from high school. Hyungwon doesn’t find this out until they start talking more.
  • Wonho is a legal assistant. He’s a civil servant and works as a prosecuting lawyer. He takes the train from Seoul to visit his mother once a week, which is also why he’s at Hyungwon’s so often. He wanted to give Changkyun a charm and then ask him out once he got a job. It didn’t work out (for many reasons).
  • Yerin brings Eunha over all the time.
  • Yerin and Changkyun become fast friends
  • I chose Yerin and Eunha because they played lovers in the Navillera mv and I love Eunha with all my heart but I don't think she'd make a good florist or match to Hyungwon.
  • Yerin chose to be a florist becuase of her grandma. He gives flwoers to Eunha all the time. Hyungwon find sthem sickengly cute.
  • The reason why Changkyun and Hyungwon agreed to not talk when Changkyun was gone was because they were afraid of getting out of touch (i.e. they Skype every night but one day they can’t and then it turns into multiple days, then months) and then blaming themselves or each other. This way neither of them could be out of fault and it would really test their relationship and show how much they trust one another.
  • Minhyuk, Wonho, and Hyungwon hang out sometimes as a trio
  • Changkyun is super ultra smart. He works for a lab an hour and a half away from home. That’s like three hours of commute from home to work, work to home. Because of that Hyungwon lets Yerin close and he goes home to prepare dinner and clean the house.
  • When Changkyun comes home he and Hyungwon just lay on the couch for a good forty minutes before they get up and eat
  • It takes Hyungwon a long time before he becomes a good cook. So Changkyun has him prepare the vegetables when he finishes cooking everything.
  • Their house is an apartment with a veranda. Hyungwon has all sorts of plants everywhere, hanging plants, herbs, trees you name it. The lady downstairs likes to come up every now and then to request some vegetables. She always gets what she wants.
  • Changkyun did keep a journal full of changes he noticed. But most of them were stupid things like ‘today i was able to get a good parking spot at the mall. thats a first’ and so Hyungwon laughs
  • Dana’s husband died! That’s why is was just her and Hyungwon in the apartment, he never left her. They were married and he died too young unfortunately. Her husband always brought home fishcakes from their favorite vendor. That’s why Dana keeps on buying them. He’s the one blood related to Hyungwon, not Dana, that’s why it took a while for her to take him in.
  • Hyungwon introduces Changkyun to Dana one day. The two are kinda awkward, but they end up friends.
  • Dana is not her real name, it’s a nickname. The reason why I chose Dana was because I kept on listening to that sm station song she sang in lol whatever the singer’s name is, that’s her real name
  • Jung Oh’s reformation was inspired by that one fox in Zootopia. You know that evil one that scratched Judy in the beginning? That ends up baking pies? Yeah him.
  • Minhyuk and Wonho have made up fully. Minhyuk still works as an until he tuns around forty-ish. He then retires from the business, and sets up his own agency under circus.
  • Minhyuk and Dana talk on a regular day bases. So much so that Dana sometimes complains to Hyungwon asking when he and his boyfriend will come over
  • Hyungwon and Changkyun go get married in Boston. They honeymoon in Michigan because of all the lakes and flowers in places like Little Holland and Ann Arbor.
  • Changkyun’s parents aren’t really supportive of the union, so they just give Changkyun money for the honeymoon.
  • They have a small party in Korea with their friends (basically a party of ten people)
  • People never stop coming to Hyungwon for help. The shop keeps on growing in popularity, and soon enough Hyungwon ends up hiring more employees
  • Changkyun loves that his boyfriend is all fluffy and magical he absolutely loves it he calls Hyungwon ‘angel’ all the time or other cheesy things like ‘prince charming’ once he gets comfortable enough

And that’s it really? Wow I know it’s a lot haha. There is more and i could go into further detail for each one, but meh. This should be good if you’re still curious about the Universe for The Language of Flowers! If there are any remaining questions, just comment them below and I will gladly answer for you.
